Okay, so welcome back this week to the Blurred Spectrum Podcast, where we are going to be talking about big, impactful moments. Now, these big impactful moments are going to be like these really defining and incredible moments that really resonated with us and you know either changed what we thought about the show or really helped cement some of the feelings that we already had about it up to that point. Now, these could be like anything from like the vapor power-up of a character to like a really huge plot twist to a big reveal or like a really intense battle scene. And you know, it doesn't have to be from any anime or game or show that we've seen recently, it could be from anything that we've kind of really had a strong emotional tie to over the course of our extended blurred history. So um I'm going to go ahead and introduce everyone, starting with myself, the black McCoy, who will be moderating for you all today. And we also have Sayone Cosplay. And we have Kaze Shinryu. What's good? And last but certainly not least, Ms. Skittles. Hello. All right. So let's go ahead and hop right into it. Uh Kaze, we'll let you go first since this was the topic that you had picked. What was that? Big, or at least one of the big important, like impactful scenes um from anything that you kind of experienced that really helped bring you deeper into the show as a fan, or even make you a fan of the show.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, this uh this this particular uh moment uh and and honestly, it's uh it's heavily impact impacted by the uh almost as uh important moment that happened directly before it. But uh I'm going with uh uh Mushukense and and uh and yeah, and uh home uh home homeboy and uh and Aaron finally having the having a big moment, everything he thought he wanted, everything he thought he was ready for. Um and uh just uh you know, it is just Aaron, you know, Aaron just pop pop popping up. She's like, Yeah, you you be looking at these things, right? This this this is what you want. This this I thought I think this is how this goes. And her just very mechanically like I be saying you staring this, you know. Well we know we we we was busy before, but I think you know, I th I think this should be about the right time. Uh her just kind of just make it as happening he and him just like you know, not not being ready, not believing it's happening, then uh you know, and then and then we like fast forward to the the morning after, and he, you know, he hitting them stretches, he glowing, right?
SPEAKER_03He is like new new day, new me. Right, the first day of the rest of my life, right? You would have thought he got dicked down that episode, right?
SPEAKER_02That is how good he was healing, and uh and yeah, and then uh and but we we we already knew that bed, that bed, that bed was empty, and when it was like uh and uh and he and he found his way to that uh to that note. And she and she hit him with the uh like yeah, we're not really not like vibing right now, we're not on the same level. It was so vague. It was and it and like it just like and it just like really uh destroyed him and it really and it really like uh brought to the forefront how like he has this this uh like this the the second life is not only like a second chance for him, but it's also but it's also still like this uh this facade he gets to put up and and be this character that he's played in these played in these games and do all these things, but he like he literally but he literally just doesn't know what the fuck he's doing half the time.
SPEAKER_03Uh I think that's that's what makes the show. I think that that for me, that part for me is what makes the show so amazing. Because he like comes into this like new world, and you know, like it's of course an isekai, but like he comes into this new world and he tries to use all of his wits and things like that that he had from like the previous world that he didn't get a chance to like fully access. He has this like, oh, I know everything, I can do whatever I can I can think my way through these situations kind of mentality because I grew up to this age, but then he turns around, everything he tries to encounter, like he keeps fucking it up because he doesn't know he thinks he knows what he's doing, but he doesn't at all.
SPEAKER_01Yep.
SPEAKER_02Yep, yep. Um and and and uh you know, but if and the ri and uh and and I think the thing that really messes uh the thing that really got to me was uh like because you know because she hit him she hit him with the uh uh uh yeah that was you know it it it may it may it made him think that uh he was a disappointment.
SPEAKER_03Yeah and she cut her hair off. She cut her hair off afterwards, and you know when a bitch cut her hair off, that's a wrap. Like that's it. That is it.
SPEAKER_02And uh I mean and the travesty about that is that I'm pretty sure it was the it was it was it was the it was the opposite, like you know, in in her eyes, like he he has gotten her all this way. And and she and she literally doesn't know, like especially after coming back and getting the news she got. Like, um like uh like uh I think I think I think her you know doing this action really was really about like tr really figuring out who she is and what she's gonna be doing moving forward. And and and and and when they were done, uh I don't I don't think she was uh in her eyes um where she needs to be because because I guess say in the previous episode they uh everyone she everyone that she uh that she was uh currently caring about almost died right in front of her and she couldn't do anything about it.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Um and uh so so so I don't so I don't we we don't know how she felt about that night, but whatever it revealed to her, how however she felt the morning after, what whatever it was, she she felt like something wasn't right, something wasn't enough. So she went, so she felt the need to go off and uh have her her training, uh her training journey, her time skip, her uh her whatever uh yeah, her yeah, her her private goal, especially going uh going off with uh you know the swordmaster, um, which which is so sad because we just got back. We just got back to her. I was waiting for her to show back up the whole season, and it's like ha, and it's like everyone's dead, also bye. Oh no, wait.
SPEAKER_03She came back, she was there, she was like, girl, we've been looking for you. This is what's going on, everybody's dead. Yeah, grandpa too. They blamed y'all for X, which still bothered me. Um that's that still very much bothered me. Um, and um, so now you now you're the rightful ruler, so you gotta figure out what you're gonna do. And she's like, um, so I'm gonna fuck my man and I'm gonna leave and go get go get go get stronger. That's what I'm gonna do. That's what I'm gonna do. And I and I I think that as like a really big impactful moment, I think that was one of those moments that that really like stands out mostly because it's not like uh a Demon Slayer big moment and it's not like a Dragon Ball big moment or even like a Sailor Moon big moment. It was one of those moments where like it was it was more so like either like a horror movie or like uh a psychological thriller or like a disaster movie. Because even though um Rudy, Rudy was going through all of these beautiful, like he was happy, he was glowing, he was, you know, he was going through all of this stuff. Like if I remember if I'm remembering correctly, like that moment, those moments felt so silent, like there was nothing playing in the background, even as he was getting up. And usually with uh Moku Shotensei, like there's some degree of like background music happening because there's always something going on, but this was one of those moments where they had just they they let it stay silent, and it was it was oddly deafening because you kind of felt that like impending doom that was coming with it, and it was a huge like tone shift in as far as well, it wasn't a huge tone shift, but it was a it was a very like large plot, uh tonal shift as to what was going on in that moment because it's everything seemed really tragic, and then it's like, oh, they're finally going to consummate their relationship or whatever. And they finally did, because that was something that was that the characters were building up to, um, and that the plot wasn't necessarily building up to, but kind of like working its way towards. And then it was this really you know big moment for Rudy and for and for um Ares. And then it like the the aftermath of it was almost so too surreal, or like actually not too surreal, it was too real. Because I feel like that's the that's something that can happen like after you know, you get that di- the night before, and then you know, you think everything's amazing the next day, and then it's like this kind of like deafening silence because there's no beautiful music, there's no there's no birds chirping, there's no likes, there's no Disney moment after that, like there's no big romantic moment after that, like we see in a lot of different like films and shows and things like that. It was just this deafening silence and the reality of the situation that kind of falls into your lap afterwards.
SPEAKER_02Um, no, definitely. The uh honestly, the our real is a really good word because having great sex and then getting ghosted, like if that ain't like being being alive in the 2020s that I don't know what it is, but um, but like but that's that's like one of my favorite things because a whole other other animes will um you know they'll they'll like dangle the the relationship or the sex in front like in front of you and like in uh in either in there, they'll like will they want to hear you to death and or or or or they or they get there and that's the encapsulation of the entire anime. Um whereas this is like again, the it was the realness. It was like uh it was like um actually sex doesn't fix anything. Uh it's great, it's great, it's great that you got to have that moment. It's great, it's great that you had it and may have it more uh in the future. But um, but uh honestly, the uh uh the one of the best things about like your your first time is that it's it's over with and now it's you you you know you can take it off the pedestal, you can just slide it into whatever little thing it goes in.
SPEAKER_01It'd be like that.
SPEAKER_02Uh but uh but yeah, you know, you get to you get to fit into uh whatever slice slice of your uh life that it fits into organically, like it just it's just it be it begins to become something you just do while you're doing everything else versus uh a goal or a aim. Like it's just like okay, yeah, uh the you know, cherry, cherry's gone. We get to we get to live our life and get and get the uh and move the fuck on now.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, and I and something else that stood out to me as you said that was just like it was such a it was a beautiful moment for Rudy, but like it there was still a lot of shit going on around them. Like there's so much happening in Mokushotensei that like that was uh it was it was a a very stark reminder that even though there was this one person experiencing this really great moment for themselves, like there is a lot more other shit that's happening in the world right now, it's and more even more consolidated to just the kingdom that you know Aeris was supposed to return back to, and you know, where all her family and everything was, and like all her people, like they are basically living like 12 12 levels lower than they were before. And despite everything that's happening, that you there's one person who's like, Oh, my son is shining, and then I mean, outside of it being immediately shattered, um like almost instantaneously, like that. It was it was it was it was a like I want to say it was a big impactful moment because it was a little moment that was magnified, but it was magnified only to the very like restricted scope that it could be magnified in reference to everything else that was happening. Yeah, excellent moment. No, uh, because whoo, that moment hit up every I was depressed with him after that. Uh um uh okay. Uh moving on, Sayone, your big impactful moments.
SPEAKER_07Oh, I had three, so I I guess I should only pick one.
SPEAKER_03And I'm gonna go to two if you want, it's fine. Oh, okay. All right, cool. Thank you. It's only four of us. We got time.
SPEAKER_07We got today. I'll just list them quickly. Um, so the first one is definitely uh berserk, Griffith when he has the behel it, and everything goes to hell real quick.
SPEAKER_03Can you describe that really fast? Because I didn't watch Berserk.
SPEAKER_07Oh, oh wow, okay. So berserk, I would say um the time period is giving me time of type of like, I don't know, like not Camelot, not Renaissance. Somebody help me out here.
SPEAKER_02I'm guessing, yeah. Yeah, medieval. Camelot's not not far off.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, so like medieval, um, you know, there is this uh I would say this alpha male, his name is Guts. Um, and uh I I kind of remember guts. Well, I mean he can't another because the niggas finally cut, but um it was almost immediate. Well, I mean, you know, I mean, was he rearranging guts? He was, but again, that's not the point. Um so you know, he's a dish.
SPEAKER_06Oh, it's nothing family about berserk.
SPEAKER_07Nothing family about at all. It's uh NC17 before they even knew what the fuck NC17 was. So that um, but yeah, so basically he I I forgot I would say about like the beginning of his story. I know his backstory comes comes with a lot of like pain and and abuse on different fronts, but he ends up um joining in uh this I guess battalion of sorts of knights and um you know the the main the main well he's guts is the main character, but his I guess antagonist um the his name is Griffith. Griffith reminds me of Satan from Devil Man Crybaby, the way how he looks, his demeanor, the white hair, this this this Aryan race type of look, that's him, and he's evil as fuck. And it's very interesting because I love it. I I you know I talk about colors and and and how um artists will use colors to kind of give a a sense of good and evil. Uh berserk completely fucked that up. The character that was dark was actually the savior in a way, in the hero, and the character that was the light was the evil motherfucker. So I loved and gravitated towards Berserk with that. Um, I would say Guts was more so like an anti-hero. He he was definitely an anti-hero for sure. But um Griffith was someone that he really was enamored by. He saw him as this this light, this beacon of strength and hope and beauty. Um, kind of like Lucifer, I guess, in a way, if you want to go to like a biblical sense, he was like the most beautiful person, very androgynous looking. Um his his sexuality, I I would say he was queer, right, right, Tiff. I would say I don't know, I don't know.
SPEAKER_02But I would I would I mean he's definitely good, he was definitely like uh like I mean he did his his main thing was definitely with Casca, but um but but but yeah his relationship with Griffith was was certainly not it it was not just uh they weren't even friends. I don't know what to it was very were they like rivals, friends?
SPEAKER_07Like frenemies in a way.
SPEAKER_02I mean I only said that because Griffith didn't have real friends, and but but but Griffith was the leader, and they all yeah, and they all look and they all looked looked up to him and Guts thought they were friends after a while. They were not, yeah.
SPEAKER_07Uh so I think Griffith was just I would say he was obsessed with power um for sure, and he didn't care how we had it get it, but he was obsessed. Yeah, it was it was very telling. Um uh he was he was very much obsessed with power, and um uh like Pazay said, Um, Guts thought that they were friends, but Griffith had his own path on what he thought friendship was, and it was kind of like you would die for me, literally, to be if you were my friend, and um, and take your soul tree to the afterlife and and and and kill people with me. That was his distorted view of friendship. So I would say the the the the change of events. So you see Costca is um this black woman, which was which was great. You never saw a black woman in medieval times in anime ever.
SPEAKER_03I know what happened, what Griffith did to her.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, so you didn't watch the anime, but you know what happened. What's going on?
SPEAKER_03Well, I've watched a lot of internet videos, okay?
SPEAKER_07Yeah, I didn't know she was black though. Yeah, she's but that's the thing. So this is what's kind of annoying. If you if you watch, if you read the manga, there is she's undeniably black. As art started to progress further away from the origin of the manga, you start seeing her pigment fucking change. She went from a dark, uh, uh a dark-skinned woman to very light to racially ambiguous to uh uh I don't even know a seasoned white girl. That's what that's really what it is.
SPEAKER_03That sounds like an oxymoron, but I know what you mean. She got maybe some salt, right?
SPEAKER_07A little bit of a pinch, a pinch of like some spicy mayo.
SPEAKER_05That's exactly what they not spicy mayo, not ioli, bitch.
SPEAKER_07Maybe uh maybe a dollop of great coupon. Like that's exactly like what they were. Um, but it was when um Griffith he he first he was he went to a castle. I think he um he was supposed to protect um this this particular region from monsters, and he ended up getting too friendly with the kingdom's like princess. He ended fucking her. So when they found out that he fucked the daughter, he was like um fucked up in the dungeon, barely could like even walk, barely could breathe. And so he prayed to, I guess I would say the underworld, you could say, um, for power. And with that type of power, it would kill off all of his entire he would kill off his entire battalion to get that power. Hit the blood, it was like blood magic. You sacrificed your entire battalion for this power, and that's exactly what he did. I didn't, I didn't, it just it was so grim because even though the entire manga and anime was grim, it just got it just got so much worse because the way and manner how they were killed was was just insane. Limbs being pulled apart. Um it wasn't just like oh, they they lit up, like it was uh it was it was so graphic, it was like mortal combat to the ebbs degree, like you're seeing demons coming out of like this type of realm, you know, eating people alive, dismembering, um, you know, and at this entire time you see Griffith morph into this demonic being, and he knew how much Guts loved Costca, so he made Guts watch Costca get raped by him. And that was it was just it was just so insane. Um, it was very much like Hellraiser before Hellra. I think this was actually, I feel like Hellraiser was inspired by um uh I'll say Hellraiser It's either Hellraiser was inspired by Berserk, but I you see elements of Hellraiser in Berserk for sure. So for me, that was just it was just gut wrenching.
SPEAKER_08Um, to see this this beautiful that was not on purpose.
SPEAKER_02It was Costca wrenching at that point. No.
SPEAKER_07Yes. It was um, it was just so much. It was just uh murder and and rape, and then you see just mental deterioration, and Costca was never really the same after that. Um, it was just it was it was just so horrible to to read and watch. Um, but it was I I loved even though this anime in manga is very old, it was probably one of the most graphic shit I've ever seen till date. I think maybe Devil Man Cryberry maybe might have a feel, but it's still not the original feel. So that that was like a pinnacle. It was very pretty, it was beautiful, but like the the scene when he when they're like parading with body parts at the very end, that was after they killed that girl, yeah. After they killed, like no one was safe, and that was that was with me and berserk, no one was safe. Um, so I I definitely uh I can't say love, but I definitely appreciated that that scene for sure. Um, I would say another part for me, uh another pinnacle moment was watching Japan Sinks. Um, and I was actually um I was given that suggestion.
SPEAKER_00You still watch Japan Sinks?
SPEAKER_07Yeah, I I was given uh that suggestion by Joe TfG, and I really didn't know what to expect. The art style was very irky to me. It bothered the fuck out of me because it looked like the the artist just rushed these people throughout the entire anime, but the but had more of the detail work on the background, which was smart. Um, I think that the whole entire reason they did that aesthetic was that the entire premise was Japan was sinking. So they really wanted you to pay attention to the architectures that were falling, to the background and not so much the people and the people's design. So I understood the way that they were going with that, but the one moment that I was like, oh my god, what the fuck am I watching? was when the father, the father's gonna say that. Oh, I didn't know what the hell I was watching. I just saw Earthquake. I'm like, all right, whatever. I see this annoying girl whining and shit. And I'm like, oh, the father, I like the father, he's so wholesome and nice. Yeah, he he's gonna be the hero. He's gonna save a whole bunch of people. Hell no, you just saw this nigga's just body parts flying in the air when he ends up getting on a landmine, and I just like lost it. I'm like, oh my god, what am I watching?
SPEAKER_03I must continue to watch because now and again, it's I promise you that moment in Japan sinks was that I agree. That was uh that was a big impactful moment. That is uh because he he like you he was the he was the wholesome one. He was the he was like the torch, he was like the he was the the center of hope for everything that was happening, and then once that man got taken out, whoo, yeah, but he was very Nets Dark.
SPEAKER_07He was very Ned Stark, and it wasn't just him too. It's like they killed all the all the the characters that you would think the trope of you know the strong character is gonna at least live for a while, and if they die, it'll be at the very end. Even the um the her friend that I think was like fighting off the other guy that was trying to rape her or something like that, she got killed in like a gas, a gas cloud. Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_03Very quickly. I remember that fucking died.
SPEAKER_07I'm like, what? It was just very anti-climatic. Um, but yeah, I I I do love shows like that because no one is safe in real life, no one is safe. You know, your favorite character is not going to be spared, everybody's gonna fucking die. And of course, the one person that you want to die stays alive.
SPEAKER_03The main character, I wanted her ass to die very quickly, but she just uh I feel like this is a safe space. I need to get this off my chest. So when y'all told me to watch this, when y'all were walking, when y'all were talking about Japan's sakes, I was like, let me watch the show. Like, aside from the dad like dying that one time, that was the only one that like really blew me. Otherwise, I had no feelings like whatsoever for the rest of that show. And I felt I felt so like a sociopath because I was like, Oh, well, that's unfortunate. Oh well, that's that's a that's not that great. Oh, okay. And then the show was over. I was like, Oh, okay, well, that wasn't that bad. Like all these people's traumatic responses to it. I'm like, oh, this this did uh this did not yield the the emotions that everyone said it would. And I thought I thought something was wrong with me.
SPEAKER_07It was the father, the father and the mom. Um, and I think was the mom black?
SPEAKER_02I couldn't she was darker skinned. No, she was uh she was she was like uh Filipino. Oh, was she?
SPEAKER_07Okay, okay, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_03When she swam down, I was like, and this bitch been giving you problems the whole damn show. Damn, you didn't just say you was being shitty to your mom the whole time.
SPEAKER_07I I feel you on that. Like, I was like, Why is the mom going down there? Let this bitch go down and help her mom. Like, I was like, you read like you really let your mom die for you? Like, I was just I was just talking shit about that little girl the entire time. I'm like, why are you still alive? Why are you alive?
SPEAKER_06The reason watch it is because everybody was like, Oh, you're gonna be sad. And I was like, Why would I watch some shit that's gonna make me sad, dog?
SPEAKER_03It can be cathartic, you know. It's like some other shit.
SPEAKER_06Sometimes you might need to be sad, and you know, you gotta be like nobody warned me about Violet Evergarden. I was so Violet Evergarden, yeah, it's fucking sad as fuck. It's beautiful.
SPEAKER_02I need to finish it, it's so pretty, it is insane.
SPEAKER_03Oh, wait, that isn't my queue. I haven't watched that yet.
SPEAKER_06That shit had me fucking crying every goddamn episode, and I was like, this song is what I did not sign up for.
SPEAKER_03I didn't sign up for all these people.
SPEAKER_06It's beautiful and sweet and thoughtful and fuck this. Right. So yeah, when niggas was like, Oh, Japan's ain't gonna be sad, I said no.
SPEAKER_03Not gonna say you was right, you was right to say no. You you would have been you would have been satisfied.
SPEAKER_07You would have been angry. I was more frustrated because you just kept seeing people dying that shouldn't die, and the person that should be dead still alive, and that was I was cursing every episode.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I yeah, I mean that's that's that's when you that's that's when you bring in your your real life lens, like just like in real life, the the people who probably shouldn't be here, they probably gonna stick. So, you know, you just gotta you just gotta remove those expectations and be like uh okay, well, nobody's safe and what happens happens.
SPEAKER_07I'm like, this shit's too much like real life. The niggas that's supposed to die, I still can walk on this damn earth. You know, I came here for fantasy, not reality. Yeah, yeah, I was I was not happy. I'm like, Joe, thank you. Great, great suggestion, but this shit was too fucking real. I like that.
SPEAKER_03Okay, what's it? What was your third big impactful moment?
SPEAKER_07Um said you had three. If you can't remember, I do have three, and then oh, psychopaths. Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes. Psycho Pass is my third one. Um, so everybody knows about the civil system. It kind of reminded me of like minority report, um, in the sense that uh you have this. I would say this is dystopian society, um, where it can judge people before they commit a crime, either based on, you know, minority report was more about precognition, um, but civil system was more so as basing your mental health as your grade on life and how you are as a person. So it was very interesting uh for people who um were in a very who are not clouded, so to speak, that was their their mental state, uh they would have like a good rating, like a score out of a hundred. Uh for for who people who had like a um a clouded mind, like if you had to go through drama or if you were depressed, uh the civil system will basically take care of you. And if your number was um at a certain range, they would detain you. And then if they thought that it was like a below a certain point, you might be killed. Um, so I thought it was a very fucked up concept because you know, uh we we go through a lot of things in life that yes, you know, we we'll put on a good face, but behind closed doors, we're dealing through a lot of things emotionally. Civil system don't give a fuck about any of that shit. So um I think the the moment that was like like huge for me was when um one of one of the characters, like us, it was like a side character, um, in the very beginning, she was being, I think, raped or molested. And what was happening is that her her her mental state was being clouded because of trauma. And um the civil system, instead of actually pointing the gun at the assailant, was pointing the gun at her and after and that yeah, I was like, what the fuck's going on here? I'm like, no, that's that's that's the person, get that person. They're like, nah, fuck all that noise. Nah, this bitch right here, this the one. And because she's under distress and she can't handle her shit, she needs to be punished. Um, that was that was one point. Another point cycle pass was when the main, the like the bad guy, his mental state kept going up, even though he was killing people murky niggas all over the place, and his mental state was going to a hundred, completely clear. Clarity of mind. And it was just a very interesting, like, I would say, I don't know, it was a very interesting discussion that I was having with myself because I'm like, you know, you have people who are are either uh serial killers or or psychotics, yeah, psychopaths, and in their head, they're not seeing anything wrong, they actually are seeing what they're doing is just so it is it it kind of played onto that.
SPEAKER_03That's why it's called psychopaths, yeah.
SPEAKER_07Right, right.
SPEAKER_03So um because they're cycles, but they're passing, yeah, right, exactly.
SPEAKER_07So it was um, I I really love that show. Um, that was also something that was kind of close to home and realistic because you see these people, um, these these mass shooters or these serial killers, um, and when they explain, or even when it comes to um uh the Manson, the Manson uh uh killings, and he never actually killed anybody per se. But because of conspiracy and he persuaded people to kill for him, he's like, I didn't do anything wrong. And he really, to this day, well, before um until he died in jail, he's like, I am the Messiah, I did nothing wrong, you know, those people fucked up, but I I didn't do shit. And so uh it just kind of reminded me of psychopaths. People really don't think they do anything wrong at all. So, how do you judge those people when mentally their state in their mind is completely clear? So I thought that was just an interesting concept.
SPEAKER_03All right, well, damn. Miss Miss Skittle, uh, it's your turn. What are your big impactful moments from anime, video games, movies, TV shows?
SPEAKER_06So um I did have two, but I can't even remember the other one. So but the um so my main one is gonna be from or it's video game related. So um Final Fantasy VII. Final Fantasy VIII. Yes. This is uh is is a big impactful moment for me because it was it was not only like uh like I was heavy into gaming when I was younger, so Final Fantasy VIII was like the first time that I really seen like full motion video graphics in in a game and just been like stunned from like like the opening of Final Fantasy VIII. Literally, I was just sitting there like, oh shit, like Squaresoft is on some other shit. Like so you kind of see you had kind of seen it, I kind of seen it in um in Parasite Eve, that that that that opening video, the the FMV was um, it wasn't it wasn't like like anything, it wasn't like Final Fantasy VIII, but it was it was you could see like progression, like this is where we're starting to go when it comes to that, because you didn't see it in seven. Um in seven, you know, as time went on, we seen people, you know, doing mods to the game to you know remaster it and and make it better looking um as far as like the um FMVs or gameplay, but we had never seen nothing like I had never seen anything on the level of Final Fantasy's eight, Final Fantasy VIII. So um it's it was really impactful for me because in in that moment that that was like the first time, like I always knew that I wanted to be an artist. I always knew that I would, you know, I was gonna grow up and do something with art, whether it would be animation or um just just art in general. I was like, I watching that, I literally was like and I played I played that game. Well, I played most of them all the way through. No, that's not true. I didn't I didn't play nine all the way through.
SPEAKER_03Um give me lying on here.
SPEAKER_06Right, right. I didn't play Final Fantasy IX all the way through, but um, but yeah, so at that moment I was like, I wanna be like I wanna be a a game artist. Like I wanna I wanna design video games. Like I was like, if this is this, if this is the future of video games, I want to be a part of that. And and that was um that was the first time that I I really like had like my mindset on what something that I wanted to do with my art. Um Final Fantasy in general was like one of my favorite uh franchises uh growing up, but um, but yeah, Final Fantasy VIII like sold me on this is what I want to do in life. Um and I even when I got to school, like I wrote a whole paper about how I was gonna work for Squaresoft and everything. Like I had I had that shit down, like and granted, looking back, like I didn't I did not become a game artist, but I did move into graphics.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, um you still look 22 when you got played.
SPEAKER_06Yes, um, so I just I don't know for me it was just like a it was like a turning point in my life, like and I and it's crazy. I feel like sometimes it's crazy to say that, but I just remember watching like playing the game and just being like, this is crazy. And to see, even to see, like from then to now, like the the Final Fantasy VII remake is just like I I literally it was it was it when I turned like when I turned on the remake watching like playing and watching it it was it was literally like seeing Final Fantasy VII for the first time all over again because it was just that beautiful to me. And I was like, yo, like I should have been, I should have been on this.
SPEAKER_05I was supposed to be on this shit.
SPEAKER_06Um just just fucking gorgeous, like, oh man, man. Um but yes, like like that moment though that was that's my like major like one that really sticks out to me. Um because it just it just it wasn't just you know I fucked with this video game. It was this is what I like. I'm I'm the this is my new path in life type of shit.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I was getting in my way, right?
SPEAKER_06Oh shit, I've never seen anything like it. And then of course oh the music in eight was fucking just oh it was it was beautiful.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, Tetsuo uh did it did the damn thing. Um it's funny when you brought up when you brought up uh eight, I was like, all right, so which one of these bullshit plot twists is she about to bring up? Look, look what it's cool, but she's just just experiencing the game with your boss.
SPEAKER_05Yes, just the game's because the the shit was yeah, well, and all the like them niggas, ooh, I don't know.
SPEAKER_06Oh my god.
SPEAKER_02And I know I know I know one of my uh favorite moments was the uh when uh you was um you you had admission in this uh one town and you like rode and uh and you like rode those boats like on onto the beach and you kind of like rush rushed into the city. I'm like, okay, okay, they done step this shit up. This shit looking crisp. I was like, oh you was like, oh okay, we got a new fantasy now, okay. Right, right. Maybe this is gonna be the actual last one, but but like, but but then that fucking giant Spider-Mac came out and then shit turned into a whole horror movie, like this was breaking down buildings chasing through the streets.
SPEAKER_06What the fuck? Hold on. Like it just you just like ready to Google this thing.
SPEAKER_03Hold on.
SPEAKER_06Like you looked over, like, wait a minute, it's too real, it's too real.
SPEAKER_02Uh yeah, yeah. That shit was like actually like it was like a whole nemesis moment. Like you you was like, okay, cool, cool. That was that was fine, but we got past them.
SPEAKER_03I'm like, oh no, this thing is horrifying, yeah. And y'all already know I'm miss killers feel about spiders. This did not help.
SPEAKER_06The shit, like you just playing the shit, and you like, wait, hold the fuck up, dog.
SPEAKER_03What yes, like it looked like it moved like some nightmare fuel. I don't want that yet. Oh my god. And then is it like it's not an eight-bit or anything, but it's like the graphics then just did not help.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, I'm just like, oh shit.
SPEAKER_02Oh yeah, also also the uh your ship, the Ragnarok, that is still, I think, my favorite spaceship, and and any anything that is the prettiest thing.
SPEAKER_06I can't think it's gorgeous. I agree. I can agree. I can agree.
SPEAKER_04Oh, the nostalgia. Let me grab my dishes.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, it's like I mean, they just I mean, they went on, of course, they went on to to do um, you know, wonderful things. Final Fantasy X uh was fucking dope as fuck too. Um, and then they did 10 2.
SPEAKER_03Oh wait, was 10 2 bad? I like I know people loved Final Fantasy X, but I did not hear that same love reciprocated for 10 2.
SPEAKER_06So at so at the time, I appreciated it at the time because it was it was off female um like leads and shit. Yeah, so and and I and I had never I had never seen that before. Uh fantasy always, you know, they they say they got the same, unfortunately, they got the same, you know, looking nigga that normally in the in the front, you know, leading everything, and then the same young brown haired chick that's like the side, you know, uh with danzel and distress type shit, but not really. Um so yeah, when when we got when they moved away from when they took Yuna out of uh 10 and just did her like did her little side thing, like it was I thought it was super cool because it was like, oh shit, like I'm about to play a video game with with three you know bad bitches at the forefront. So that that's um but it honestly the game was completely unnecessary. Either here nor there. Uh but um I appreciated it at the time. Um but then you know they they they um they did. Amazing things with uh lightning. Uh was that 13? 13, 12, or 13.
SPEAKER_02I don't know. What was the question?
SPEAKER_06Lightning.
SPEAKER_02Oh, lightning was 13.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, okay. So yeah. So then we got lightning, and then I was like, oh now, now we got a real like this is a real female lead. Right, and meaningful like purpose. Got it.
SPEAKER_03You said you had one more do you remember what it was? Okay.
SPEAKER_06And I was and I because this one immediately popped up, but then there was another one, and I was like, and that's when we were talking about is it general or like you know, whatever, but now I'll forgot.
SPEAKER_03Okay. I have three. Uh so my first one, my first one I was actually reminded of the other day because as I've been working on this cosplay, I you know, I'll have stuff playing on the background on Netflix because you know, I can't have nothing serious that I'm trying to watch that requires my full attention. So sometimes I'll just put something on in the background. And so what I decided to put on the background was Yu-Gi-Oh! And um it was, I don't remember when the last time I watched Yu-Gi-Oh!, but it was playing, it was the the Duelist Kingdom tournament, and it was when Yu-Gi-Oh! finally dueled Maximilian Pegasus, and I was just I like I when I was watching it or when I was listening to it mostly, I was immediately taken back to that moment where it where Toon World was revealed. That moment for me, I was hype all over again. Like Toon World was such a revolutionary like moment for me in the show. I mean, you know, of course, you know, they go on to do bigger and better things, but Toon World was like the first iteration of like a big bad being seen as having this very um whimsical and childish side in a way that wasn't like uh kind of how we see like a Joker or a Kefka or even like a Hisoka in some ways. Like it was full-on childlike uh whimsy, and it was the most menacing thing ever. And the designs of all the Toon World monsters was amazing, and they were trolling so hard. That's the part that touched my spirit. Because not only was Pegasus shady as fuck, but so were his monsters at every turn. Like we saw it with Kaiba, but like that, but just the introduction of Toon World itself was so was so great for me. Like that spawned a whole renaissance artistically for me. Like almost everything that I was drawing maintained this, like this very tune cartoony, but still really like dark and gritty and serious kind of uh like imagery to it. Like I wanted to make sure everything that I drew was like or similar to Toon World, like there was so much art that I think that I either still have or got lost somewhere in me growing up that like had this like Toon World filter that was like all over it. And so I mean, yeah, like Relinquished and Thousand Eyes Restrict also were like really great moments for me, but for like Toon World impacted me so much that by the time, like what by the time um Suchi No Sogan had gotten me uh this Yu-Gi-Oh Legacy of the Duelist, no, Yu-Gi-Oh! Legacy of the duelist game um for my Switch, and I had been playing it on my um PlayStation, like I had already created an entire Toon deck, and that deck was a problem. And I'm pretty sure if I take it somewhere, it'd still be a problem. But Toon World, Toon World was just that that that card for me, or that that whole card archetype for me that really helped like shape me artistically and shape how I view a lot of the things that I want to create as I like draw, as I would like draw more or create more, or like what I would like, the kind of things I love to see whenever I was looking at different antagonists and villains. Because you know, Pegasus was kind of a villain, but he had good reason. I mean, and you know, if my partner died too, I'd be snatching up souls through a card game to bring them back, especially a nigga like Kaiba, he was a shit. Like Yugi could have got his grandpa and kept it pop, but he didn't need to get Kaiba because Kaiba went on to be an asshole for like another three or four seasons, all the way up to the end of the show, to movies after the show was over, just the whole day for no reason. I don't know why Mochaba loved him so much, but anyway, probably because Kaiba was nice to him and not and not anybody else, yeah. But uh, that was my first big impactful moment. Now, my second big impactful moment, um, I it was hard to like really pin it down, but I knew exactly which one was gonna win out, and it's from Digimon. Now, I thought it was gonna be when Padomon first evolved into Anjimon. I remember where I was when that happened. I remember exactly what I was doing, I remember where I was sitting, I remember what the room looked like. I was at Wilder Hammer's house. I know exactly where I was when this little pig bat evolved into this beautiful six-winged angel with one punch in the darkness. But that wasn't the moment, it was Digimon Tamers season three when they first bio merged. I was like, nigga, what we using with the Digimon now in the real world, bitch. Like, we're not we not using devices to evolve like our partners, you know, they're getting stronger, whatever. But we are seeing we are Dragon Ball Z fusing with our Digimon to make whole new other levels of Digimon. And it was it was in that moment I was like, I need Digimon to be real. I like I had always loved Digimon. I needed Digimon to be real, even though they have like world-ending consequences whenever you see one, but like I needed one then, especially when I saw Secuyamon, Secuyamon, who baby. I ain't never seen a bad bitch that bad, fully armored ever in my life. Those long ass pigtails at the back flowing, staff is staffing. If there was a divine feminine to ever exist, it is secuyama. Oh, and y'all know how I love Terrimon and Mega Garg, Mega Gargomon. I didn't like the design that much, had to grow on me. But I was still excited for this big green mech rabbit who for some reason was doing like judo kicks and shit. I was it was amazing. I was with all the shits. I was with I was I was I was confused. I was like, Mega Gargamon, you are a whole Gundam and you have giant missiles everywhere. Why are you kicking things? Why are you kicking things? But like, no, Bio Merge Digivolution was like the most revolutionary moment in Digimon for me because you know, we had seen like the the golden digig eggs in season two were cute or whatever. Um, but you know, it was still a digivolution. It was like, oh, okay, here's a new way to digivolve. But and it was and it was still entirely separate from the tamer. Um, and even though like the Digimon Tamer or the Digidestin was basically the one who was able allowed them to evolve, it was literally the ability to fuse with that that part that that Digimon that making them a whole part of yourself. And then like it was it was revolutionary because it was like these Digidestined are no longer like on the sidelines. Because like in season three, they weren't fully on the sidelines because they incorporated like the Digimon card game into the whole like um uh mythos of season three. So like the Digimon Tamers, they were swiping like cards with abilities and shit like that, and like power-ups to help their Digimon mid-fight, but like so they were already like doing a lot in terms of just bringing them into the battles in a much more like involved way, and and in a way that like really revolutionized and required there to be some degree of skill in terms of like the the card game itself and battling in the card game and transitioning that into onto like a battlefield setting. But not only seeing them fuse, but seeing them actively like be the consciousness in their Digimon and be on the battlefield with them was so intense. Like, and I didn't even think about the dangerous implications of one of them potentially dying because that was a season where Digimon would get murked and absorbed. Like there were there was no, oh, this Digimon is gonna come back as a Digi egg and it'll have to you know go through life all over again. No, you was dead, you was gone, you got killed, and your data was absorbed, and that was that. There was no egg, you aren't coming back. That was it, that was the end of your life, and so the stakes were a lot higher, but but it was also kind of it was also really empowering to see that um see like these these kids be able to put themselves into the position of power, well, and uh not in like you know, uh kind of hierarchical sense, but be be able to literally have the power to fight alongside their Digimon and with their Digimon and as their Digimon. It was like a whole weird, like retro, it's like a whole retroactively a whole like really intense kind of existential moment for me because it's like, damn, I wish I could do that. I still wish I could do that because I'm a cosplayer, I'm like one eighth of a way there.
SPEAKER_07But you already do it with your cosplay, you already didn't know it.
SPEAKER_03Like, don't let that episode like y'all remember the episode of um, I don't know if you remember, uh, Fairly Out parents where it was Halloween and everyone turned into their costumes. Like, let that shit happen at a con. That the world would be haywire. Like there would be completely like, no, you don't no one needs that happen. There'd be like 25 Loki's, 13 Batman, 500 Batmans, make me like 12 Kryptonians, like just every no, actually, there'll be we could probably repopulate Krypton if some shit like that happened, but like uh yeah, that was like a Halloween town, I think.
SPEAKER_07How that reminded me of Halloween town that people were wearing their costumes and then they couldn't take that shit off, yeah, and that shit became real.
SPEAKER_03Don't do not let me be cosplayed as AlphaMont and some shit like that happen. I will I would need every ounce of friendship because I I've told Kaze many times I do not need abilities or powers, I would absolutely be a villain. It is not a question.
SPEAKER_02Uh not no halfway in between y'all right, y'all need to put me down.
SPEAKER_03Either put me down or get somebody you know who can bring me down right in front of me, and you better be 100% sure. Don't go get my mom, don't go get nobody. The family members will not help. You need somebody who is reliable enough to be like Gwen, let's let's pull it back. Let's pull it back.
SPEAKER_07Can we give you that that monologue or that dialogue? Like, you remember when this happened? Right.
SPEAKER_03Listen, if you're gonna talk no jutsu me, you better talk no jutsu the shit out of me. Because that is either talk no jutsu or beat the fuck out of me and then talk no jutsu, like you would have to overpower me. Like if I have enough power to do what I want, I would need a reason, a good reason, a reason that I can't like be like, okay, and like wow.
SPEAKER_07So somebody's gonna have to step on your neck and and start you serenading you with uh maybe someone's going to have to like make me a pair of like quadriplegic.
SPEAKER_03Like, I would have to not be able to move my body, yeah, and do not let the powers be sighted because then I wouldn't need a body.
SPEAKER_07I don't like this. Make sure I'm not moving.
SPEAKER_02Like y'all, y'all get to exist so as far as far as the the next like best dish yet I get to taste. Like like y'all, y'all, y'all, you get to buy time with by making me happy like this. But but but but don't but don't but don't get it twisted.
SPEAKER_03I'll flip this shit over in a minute.
SPEAKER_07I can see as like a a whole villain. Like I could really see I can't see Kazi as anything else but a villain, an ain't shit villain at that. Like, you know, just the one that brings potato chips, you know, but while while he's whooping your ass and just eating flip. Oh, are you are you are you done? This is not even my final form. But you know, I'm saying I really see Kazi be talking some mad shit as as he whoops your ass. So I can definitely I can see um Miss Skittles as as a hero, you know. I I can, I can't complicated hero, uh, but a hero nonetheless.
SPEAKER_06I feel like I would definitely be an anti-hero.
SPEAKER_03Like I because I can't I can't probably she's not like so evil where she would just go out and do shit, but like she's not she's good, but she's not like she's not like all my good. Like let me stick my nose in some shit that didn't involve me.
SPEAKER_06Right. Like I'm definitely not like a Deku like type, like this world.
SPEAKER_07No, no, no, no, no, no, not no, you're definitely not even a Bakugo, bitch. Like you're definitely not annoying. Deku is very freaking annoying.
SPEAKER_06Like I I want to save everybody type mentality, like everybody. You'd be your Yodo Wichi. I could be I can see you as like a Yoda Wichi, you know what I'm saying?
SPEAKER_03Which is appropriate, and you know, that's what that's one of her best consistent like closet cosplays that you keep on hand.
SPEAKER_07Like, yes, yeah, yeah. Like you are Yoda Wichi, you're not evil, you know, you're a little spicy, you know what I'm saying? You can F things up, but you're not a Deku. Absolutely absolutely not.
SPEAKER_03Meanwhile, Kaz is an eyes in no no no cap. Like there is no inconsistent, inconsistent Trump player. They are they are the same person, one just has abilities that the other doesn't. Oh anyway, as to what we're actually talking about. Um so my third one, my third one's actually um a video game, a big impactful moment, and it was at the beginning of God of War II. Good lord, yes. And it's funny because I almost went with a couple of moments from the lat the first The Last of Us game. That would that would be my guess. Yeah, I was I was all there, but he just made of some something else, but but but the beginning of God of War II when Kratos was betrayed by Zeus and the rest of the gods because they thought he was they were they were afraid of the nigga that they sent to kill a god, and then gave him the seat to Ares' throne, and then was like, Yeah, we gotta get rid of this nigga. Like he wasn't bothering them, he was minding his business, and Zeus old pump pussy ass was just like, Oh shit, we we gotta be afraid of this nigga because he killed a god and we gotta and then it didn't help when you found out that he was he was one of Zeus's bastard kids, too. Yeah, because you know how to put his dick away, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_02And that and that's part that's part of why he did it, because it because it because he he knew that generational curse. Killing they daddy, and he and he was like, Oh, wait, this nigga this nigga getting actually strong enough to do that right this shit in the butt.
SPEAKER_03Right, he already he already killed his family and his uncle. I mean, I'm I'm up in there, so let me go ahead and nip this in the butt. Oh, but no, though that moment where like the whole second game began because of that betrayal. I would like I it was a big moment for me because one, I was really young, and two, it was like I was still innocent enough to the way to the ways of the world where where like I was like, damn, I really just went through a whole game trying to help y'all by killing this nigga, getting my own vengeance in a very cathartic way, mind you. But baby, are you serious? Are you serious? Oh my god, like that uh like that hurt young me. Young me was physically pained by the fact that I was betrayed like that and then sent to the underworld, sent to the underworld, and Athena old fence straddling ass did not make me feel any better. I was too, I was young enough to like feel hurt by that betrayal, but I was old enough to be like, bitch, if you don't pick a side, if you do not pick a motherfucker side, you were because you still did, you still got your ass beat. Oh, that was my third moment, and that that's I I have nothing but vitriol for that moment. Did killing Poseidon make it a bit more cathartic? Yes, but who is that the one with Gaia when he uh oh my god, you and that pissed me off by the time we got to the third game was when it happened again. Kabi and the Titans betrayed his ass too. I'm like, Kratos, we can't we can't keep doing this, we cannot keep trusting. That is why God of War Three had to end the way that it ended, because after being betrayed, not only by the gods that you were sent that sent you to kill this other guy because he was getting too high up on his shit, then the titans that are like, Hey, we can use this nigga to kill the gods because they betrayed us and put us down here, and then they betray you at the beginning of the third game, but at the time you're trying to, and it's like, yo, why am I here?
SPEAKER_07That game is that game is very much what Greek mythology is. Everybody ate shit, and everybody used from everyone, exactly. So I I I think I was too young because what what what we were taught in middle school was you know that Zeus is the leader and and you know, he throws uh fucking you know bolts and shit. They're like, Oh, that's so cool.
SPEAKER_03I didn't know how and then Disney tried to make it all cute and shit, right?
SPEAKER_07Right. I didn't know how ancient like Greek mythology was until like maybe a couple years ago. I'm like, wow, this is actually right, yeah.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, that shit is horrible.
SPEAKER_03Yes, when we when we watch what what was that on Netflix Blood of Zeus? A blood of the yes, yeah. Yes, when Hara was like fucking shut up, I was like, I don't even blame her.
SPEAKER_06No, that's why so many goddamn demigues, and all kinds like this nigga, because he literally out here doing whatever, dog just trash, the trashiest and keeping with the bitch you know you're not supposed to fuck with.
SPEAKER_03He's with the wrong one every time. You know Hara will tear all this shit down, you know she will, and you know she can, and you know she don't give a fuck about you enough to spare your life in the process.
SPEAKER_02Right, if you don't cash straight this nigga, because I was like a heavy thing throughout. So I was like, This this is the most problematic dick around.
SPEAKER_06So I don't know why problematic, the most problematic community dick, right?
SPEAKER_03To the point where even his son was like, Dad, mom can see you. Right, she's watching you, you need to hurry the fuck up and get it.
SPEAKER_08Right.
SPEAKER_02So so so so bad. So bad. Well what kill what kill what killed me about guys betrayal was you just you you just like like help this nigga and use this nigga to kill a whole pantheon. And and when and when you went to betray him, you didn't even have a good plan. So what made you think you was going to win?
SPEAKER_08Like, like you thought he was tired, bitch? Right, right.
SPEAKER_02It wasn't like a death trap, it wasn't like like she like the like when she did it, she was squeezing that damn pagoda or whatever the fuck they was in, and Zeus and Cradles, and they're like I was like, and then they just jumped out. Like, what'd you think was gonna happen? It was all openings, like you were slow as hell, like like I can you you could have sent that nigga underground and and belly flopped on the mountain. Uh anything literally anything, like yeah, you could have drown that nigga in lava, you could not say any of these things would have worked, but all the attempts at it like like you all this year's old, and then like like and then anything, she was watching, she was narrating the first two games, yeah. So you watched everything he did, you knew exactly what you're capable of, and you manipulated him because you knew what he was capable of. So, how so I so how how did you read him so well and overestimate yourself so.
SPEAKER_07thoroughly like it it is like all that plotting and planning just just stopped like i was i was so disappointed the only person who wasn't who was who wasn't ain't shit in that entire series was aphrodite and that's because she was laying around waiting to get fucked the entire game they're like oh all the gods died not aphrodite she might have died into the aftermath but like otherwise she was she was just chilling with uh were her two little her two little women over there who was watching watching her go at it and it was getting all hot and bothered in the corner oh my gosh and and you know we can't ignore that god for Aphrodite well yeah we can't ignore her but we can't ignore that god of war was like the first game where you can have sex in a game by pressing buttons that was huge it was very especially one of the one of more mainstream ones at least yeah absolutely put that shit out there it was it was it it was like super soft core where you didn't see anything you just heard all the noises but you saw like you saw back you saw you know I'm saying you saw like the bed move like I was like wow this is this is actually quite ingenious and it was like oh my god my my puritan soul what is what is going on that that's that skinemax camera work was like the way it was spinning around all the naughty bits and it and yeah and and you doing that uh uh I forget I forget what they call it the the button game but uh um I know what you're talking about but I can't remember the name I but but yeah but you just like you you know that shit made you feel like you was actually taking part like you you was not you couldn't even see what you was knocking out but you knocking that shit out the square bit man right and that's why that we have so many voyeuristic gamers today it was very smart marketing i i know that there were people that wanted to get the game specifically to be able to do that um yeah like i because it was just a revolution i'm like you know you can fuck smide the game right what you know um we're gonna unless the big impactful moments having sex with Aphrodite Cranos actually was he he was like having sex with like two women at the same time wasn't he like there was a scene I think it was in the first game where he was like in bed with two women or something like that.
SPEAKER_03Yeah they had a few uh many games because uh because they you got your they it gave you your health back they would uh so yeah they wouldn't right because I know some people be tired after they get done uh I mean no it wakes me up I'll be wanting to make a sandwich so you know but before you go go maybe that's what the song is about uh yeah oh interesting wait keep talking I'm gonna google those lyrics I feel like I was trying to think because I feel like there was sex in Dante's inferno it was there was sex in Dante's inferno I I know like I know the whole lust level was uh different it was um it was uh it was definitely a fever dream like man that was a horny ass game yes that level was wild as fuck especially with the the um like the the little monster things that had the the teeth on their pussy and all that shit like that shit was wild but um but could you like have sex with them like could you control like how you could control it yeah before you go go is definitely about sex I'm reading the lyrics I don't I don't think so but there were sex in it I you just I I don't think we were doing it but they no no we weren't um FMB sex you know Miss Kittos you just reminded me of another big impactful moment because of Dante's inferno well that that so that lust level it would would definitely that's why I said when when you when you mentioned God of war I I immediately like ooh Dante's inferno definitely um an impactful moment because when I was playing that shit I was just like what is what right like every like every level was it it was very detailed and graphic um oh it was it was very graphic yeah very graphic you remember when you fought Cleopatra and she had the unbaptized babies coming out of her nipples yeah yo yes it was so the shit was crazy and then you'd like try to and I'm like oh like these these dead babies was the catharsis and therapy that that that person needed because it was it was it felt it felt like trauma it felt it did it was it was all trauma like and I I don't know why you felt the need to share this with the world but apparently you I hope you let them demons out the right a phenomenal job capturing the levels of hell because the way I was in that bitch like if this what is like hell nah like hell let me go to church like light let me go to church now Jesus yeah Lord I'm sorry um right I sprayed too far like I know we'll talk a lot yeah okay so the the the you're trying to be like you're trying to make decisions for Dante that you know like have him on the borderline of good and evil and some of that shit was just hard like god damn I gotta make this this is a this is a real like moral like I gotta think about my morals while in this goddamn game you know also let me look at the skill tree real fast to see what I need though what game system was Dante's Inferno on I think it was on both Xbox and PlayStation I know it was on PlayStation but I mean it's like PS3 I think it's three I think it was three yeah because it was three because I played it in college so the moment for Dante's inferno for me was at the very end when you were fighting Satan and like after you beat him in his like big chained up form or whatever I was and he was like walking around as this like giant satyr and I remember looking at the TV and I was like Satan's walking but there's something else that's moving it was it was it was Satan's big ass dick and I was like I had to I'm like I literally had to I had to pause this I had to pause the game I went and got my best friend I was like Charles come here do you see what I see right now are we looking at the I was like is that I like I had to I had to investigate myself I'm like that's not a dick that is a dick that was the thing that was his and it was so sad because it was like Dante you know going through the levels of hell trying to get his bitch back but for why would she leave why would she leave saying with that all that dick that was my thought I was like yo we done gone through all the niggas the nigga that you try and get your girl back from no no let her go not let her go right she she don't belong to the streets she belongs on the streets before the streets oh Jesus yes well I might have to play this game this is you know just for research just to see what y'all talking about or like find a nice let's play yeah find a nice final let's play because it's because even in the lust circle when you got like the the demon women with the tentacle vaginas they like they go back on all fours like they're in the grudge this like huge thing just shoots out of their vagina and tries to pull you in and stuff it's that's why I said it was it was uh very impactful very impactful and very impactful very impactful yeah yeah yeah it actually uh it it it was it was weird for me because it was uh it felt it felt like uh I I I thought it was very fascinating from an artistic point of view but also I thought it was I guess trying too hard it was it was like uh it was like I would look at the theme for the level and then I would be like okay well given how completely absurd this last level was let me just was the most ridiculous thing I could think and then you know and then I was like right a few times and and then and but then those other times I was my mind isn't even remotely depraved enough to to even fathom uh the front of the depths I thought I was doing some shit apparently right right like you also made me feel better like it was just like that you know what I thought right like I thought I was really fucked but whatever this came out of uh yeah yeah I hope they went to therapy yeah but I love me some Hellraisers some of Horizon the the you know the little art excerpts from the net necr Necronomicon like you know I'm like I've I've I forget the artists who used to do those like those like really fucked up like uh like you know hell escapes and those like uh like that one picture of uh of Kronos eating his children I forget I forget the artists is it that might that might that might be he's gonna that nigga Kratos killed his ass too how did you not I'm sorry sorry that that flipped the switch for me I apologize but uh yeah it was just like yeah I was like y'all I was like yeah y'all y'all doing a lot right now if you were to replay that game would you would you have a different perspective on it now that you're older or do you think it'll still be like fucking unnecessary I didn't I didn't think it was necessarily unnecessary I just think the way I it took it took me out it took me out of it um because I would because I wasn't because I wasn't necessarily like like oh my god this is hell this is ridiculous I was like it I I stopped I wasn't in hell anymore I was like I was I was sitting here staring at the artist like really really like so like so you know so I don't I don't think uh I I would you know I would like if I was talking to I wouldn't tell him to change it I just think I I would love to peek peep peek in on that therapy session that's I couldn't replay the game because I would have to be like I would have to acknowledge some things that I am uh um sexually inclined to that I don't want to have to ignore that game so uh I'm gonna leave I would leave that alone for myself personally yeah and also and another reason I didn't uh finish it was because it was um uh I think I think everything that game was doing from a gameplay point of view uh uh God of war and devil may cry did better so so aside so while the art was fascinating but slightly you know had some asterisk there the uh the the gameplay wasn't inspiring right because it was like okay well this this is like this but it was better there and this is like that and um also at the sorry to interrupt at the beginning you you fight the grim reaper and you kill him and take his side um how do you kill death with his own weapon right it's edgy as fuck right it was it was edgelord the game it was still fun low key but like it was it was if you had like it if it had like a whole little movie and everything too it did it kind of like kind of like that um Batman year one uh movie where it had like the different art styles of like different parts of Batman story yeah it's very much like that yeah yeah yeah and it's it's very much like that wait is that in Dante's inferno movie where the woman that got dragged to hell didn't she like end up cheating on him no the reason she got dragged to hell is because he cheated on her oh he cheated on her devil that he would be faithful while he was away and he cheated on her with somebody who he with somebody who ended up dying anyway because I think he killed her they like the because he was in the crusades and then he was like oh it's gonna be okay because the the fucking uh cardinal whoever blessed us and was like oh yeah all your sins are blah blah blah blah blah and he goes back like wait a minute what the fuck what you mean I got it doesn't count right no bitch counts like a true crusader is what you're basically I got you yeah so you're doing some some fuck shit so yeah so then Dante go through the levels of hell to try to get his woman back because he fucked up but and I didn't and I I and I feel bad for her at all because why'd you why'd you make that deal I don't even think I don't even think she made a deal to gain anything I I think I think she was just so sure right she was so sure she was she was just Lily white blonde haired blue eyed sure like like you know and and and I mean and I know like like like I know like I know what a Fostin deal is so I I know like the whole you know every time I see someone make a deal with the devil I'm like you're retarded but it's like okay they they don't know but at the same time it's like if you're gonna make a deal with somebody and you're gonna bait and you're gonna bet your your eternal soul what you would why would you not make sure you gain something yeah if you win like it was setting it on an uh on a nigga that right that you can't over a nigga though if you're gonna bet the devil on something bet don't do it on a nigga right like like it like if you did did do that he he he just would have came home and you never would have known and and y'all probably would have lived happily ever right it was so right with all your white privilege and everything your little cottage on the side like yep you and your cheating ass nigga and like it was so bad.
SPEAKER_02So I think not even just cheating ass nigga just raping ass nigga because he raped the lady that he should over mind and never mind the other uh fucked up parts of the crusades right uh but um yeah I think I have another uh impactful uh moment and it's kind of similar to Tiffany's where it was uh well no no no I do I do I do have a moment but it was uh part of it was was the whole game it was a game called uh uh armor core uh which is a Met game and and the thing uh the thing about like armor core that I love is that I like uh um uh I like I like a lot of like realistic like things in my in my mechs like I like when they're like when it's a whole bunch of screens and they're keeping track of like all these like you know statistics and weights and all these things. But at the same time I'm also I also just like to see cool shit too. So I don't like when we get too realistic. Like I don't I don't want to just like look at a tank it like so like so like uh so it was uh the there was a there was a there was a game out all called mechwarrior and those are like kind of like bipedal but after after defeat the they or they would be on like on tank treads and and mech warrior was a little bit too too much in that simulation thing for me like they turned around at the speed of like dirt like it was it took if something got behind you you just missed you just kissed that thing goodbye you just not you just not gonna see it again like it was it would it was it was like it was too much it was too it was too realistic for me and I was just like no I I still need my thing to look and feel cool. So so armor core was that beautiful middle ground for me. Like it was like especially like uh like watching like Gundam and Gundam wing I'd been waiting for like my like slightly crunchier more simulation thing of a like a gut but still having like the you know like the lights and the like in the color themes. And so so playing like armor core and the and and and and I and I appreciate attention to detail in every facet of anything that I like dive in and devour like you know especially like how I like I like hyper fixate on things so I'll so like just like this game like uh they had uh you could change the the your you know your core was the main the main body part and then you attached everything to the core that's why it was called armor core so but but yeah you change you can change you can change the arms the head the core they had the you could change like the the the legs and the and the legs with and the legs were had they had regular bipedal they had tanks they had the the reverse joint legs and those uh were uh good at certain things and carried certain weights they had uh uh you could you could have uh you could have weapon you could have uh different weapons in both in both hands and you can have two different weapons on both shoulders fucking um and everything and everything was like tied to a sip like so your your legs controlled how much weight the the entire core could take so you had to be careful like what you put on what and also inside the core was a uh was a was a generator and a radiator so so if you so if you're shooting a giant laser cannon on your shoulder that bitch is hot so if you don't have a top of the line radiator then you you uh your your whole system's gonna fry right yeah um and uh uh you're right yeah and and then and then your generator uh had you know every your generator had to power everything and your generators also powered your boosters and you also picked your different boosters and they had different accelerations different powers uh but I say you could you could sustain it different amount of times based on how good your generator was and how much energy drain each booster had like the the the the details was was crazy but the but the defining moment for me was like uh I might I think it might have been like the second like the second third game and and and and I was fighting uh it was a really it was like a really like a tough mission it was a whole whole bunch of like uh like worse robots and you was like going flying through these underground tunnels I was like I was like I kept losing I kept running out of ammo but I finally like got to the end of the stage and at the end of the stage another uh uh an uh another um armor core came out and it and this was like that nigga like like you would uh like they they they was like talking about this nigga in the shadows talking about like oh man I heard this nigga like wiped out of country like oh man I heard that this dude used to be number one in the company and then he retired because he because he was bored and like they they was they they they was hyping this man's up like the entire time and like and he finally came in uh at the at the end of at the end of this mission and and I start and I start having this epic ass fight like I I empty out all my missiles uh firing at this nigga and and uh and and one of the new things that they introduced in that game was uh because because again the uh your your weight mattered and the lighter your core was the faster the faster you move and you can actually drop your weapon or eject your shoulder weapons after they ran out of ammo so so the so I so I literally emptied all my ammo out fighting this nigga and I literally dropped everything on the ground and I didn't have anything but my beam sword and and I just had this and I just had this epic ass uh this epic ass one-on-one fight with this dude with with this chasing him down and dodging and dodging his cheating ass giant beams and cannons and shit and chasing run down fucking uh factory and hiding behind shit and like and and and and and just and just how like not only did you have the option to drop those things how how much it actually affected my game like I couldn't I couldn't have hit him with my beam sword because I wasn't fast enough before I dropped everything after I dropped everything and became a fucking running like I saw the way I chased this nigga down so I started flipping this nigga like it would it just did all the things for me like this became Batosa right and like you know and it was such it was such like a uh a coalescence of of design and gameplay just being just married and coming together and being amazing like and it's like it's it's one uh it you know and and this this is the same developer that does dark souls Oh wow.
SPEAKER_08Um like so this one. Oh god.
SPEAKER_02Right. So so they've always had like this this attention to detail. Uh actually the sword I was using was the uh was the moonlight beam sword, and they put that in all their games. So it's a uh it was a beam sword and armor core, and but it's a it's a great it's a giant magical great sword in all their uh source games. Um that's cute. Uh but uh and and you know, and it's always like the one one of the strongest ones. Oh, and it also shot off, it also shoots off like uh every time you cut, it shoots off like this wave. Um, and that was uh that that was unique to it too, because all the other swords were were just swords. But um they were simply knives compared to but uh but no, that was like that was so eye-opening to me. And honestly, it ruined me on a lot of other games because I was like, oh niggas can y'all can do all this, and y'all are and y'all are doing so so much nothing in this this this design space. Like y'all are y'all are just I know yeah, I my eyes have been opened. I know what I know what I know what people are capable of. Right. Um, and y'all, y'all need to step it up. So so yeah, yeah, yeah. I've been I've been ain't shit ain't shitting looking down my nose and shit ever since. But uh, but no, that was that was definitely a defining moment for me. It was it was just it was just everything.
unknownOkay.
SPEAKER_03Well, does anyone else have any other like really big defining moments in their in their blurred dome?
SPEAKER_07Um I'll quickly say, like for me, I'll I'll I'll do two games quickly. My first favorite game was um Bust a Groove.
SPEAKER_06Let's go way back.
SPEAKER_07Um oh my god, I was obsessed with this game. I love the characters. That was like my first time seeing like a dance game, and this was on the PlayStation, and then also so many like diverse characters with cute little backgrounds. Like you had Kitty N, who was like um, I think she was like a business worker by day, but then she was a go-go dancer by night, and she would wear this cat outfit. You had Pinky, who was a black stripper, it was the funniest shit, but it was like she was like a black stripper from the 70s, so she had like pink hair that was she looked like somebody from BAPS. It was just so fucking hilarious. She had like pink boots, pink outfit. She had like this fire track, and she looked like she came from like the players' club was called the diamond, like it was some wild, wild shit. Um, what'd you say? I'm sorry. What was this game about? What did you do in this game?
SPEAKER_03It was a dancing game, it was called it was called I wanted to say that that's what the game was about, but I didn't want to be sure because you were describing a whole stripper.
SPEAKER_07Each character had um a background story, so it was really cute. Like you had this uh girl named Shorty and her little mouse called Columbo. She's a short little girl that would be like roam around carnival.
SPEAKER_03She white that sounds like a white woman thing to do.
SPEAKER_07Shorty she looked Latina to me. Then I don't know. She gave me like this cute little Latina girl.
SPEAKER_03Oh, Latina. I thought you said Tina. I'm like Tina, who?
SPEAKER_07No, no, Latina. She gave me like a Latina vibe. Um, and then you had these, um, they had each character had their own style of dance. Um, there is these two aliens, and then and their name was Capoeta, and it was so funny. You could dance on like a spaceship for me. It was just so cute. Um, it was before Guitar Hero was Guitar Hero. This is like back on PlayStation One. Um, and the graphics were a little janky, but it was just but they were amazing at the time. It was amazing. It was, you know, every every single character had personality, and I think that was one of my first games, seeing that each character had their own personality, had their own backstory. This is kind of right around the Tekken uh era as well, where each character had their own backstory as well. Um, you know, so I really loved um uh Buster Buster Groove for sure. And I would say into my adult, my adult phase, I would definitely have to say a dead space, which uh everybody on this podcast knows. For me, it was just such a revolutionary time in horror gaming. Um, that was very different from Silent Hill, Resident Evil, um, it from Fatal Frame. It was very different feel. Uh, you're in space. Um, even though it was it was not the same as Doom, um, Doom kind of had like the Unreal engine, I believe. I can't, I'm not sure if if I'm if I'm accurate with that, but um, it was just a different feel. You literally felt isolated. You were by yourself, and it kind of put you in this space of anxiety because there was no team. Um, you were the only one. And it kind of had you think that if this was real life, no weapons that we have today will kill these necromorphs. You had to literally be a miner to use these mining tools to cut these motherfuckers up. And you couldn't do like one shot, you had to cut their lips off. Like that was some wild shit for me. And just watching it and seeing that each um kind of like uh Left for Dead, how each person that was that was transformed, they were something before. Like you had this boomer-like um entity that either was a pregnant woman before or was like a morbidly obese person, and when they blew up, little placentas were fucking like attacking you. Like that was some wild shit.
SPEAKER_03Like that sounds like some Dante's Inferno shit.
SPEAKER_07It was wild. You had some that actually were um on not that were not offensive at all, but they were fucking up the entire environment. I remember you're on the Ishimura, and you had to figure out what's going on with the air supply, and there is this man-like creature hunched over, and his back, his spine is exposed like a butterfly, and it's actually bringing like methane into the entire atmosphere, trying to kind of like terraforming the ship for these creatures. Wild Alice in Wonderland, upside down, neververse type of shit. Like it was just beautifully disgusting, and I loved it. Um, I thought it was a masterpiece. Uh, to this day, I don't I don't see any um any horror movie that has that type of like sickness in uh like just the visual design. Um, and you really wanted to kind of like find your girlfriend. Like Isaac is the main is the main character, and all you know is that your girlfriend is on the ship, and there's a distress signal and you want to help her. So you immediately kind of want to be like, where's my girlfriend? Like, I don't know this bitch, but she's my girlfriend too. I want to go find her too. So it was very interesting. Um, it had horror aspects, a lot of psychological aspects to it. For me, it was just revolutionary. Um, and it was very refreshing. It wasn't us, it wasn't like the quintessential flasher shooter zombie game that I got sick and tired of seeing. Um, but it was like sci-fi supernatural themed, like I guess, demon type of shit. Um, and for me, there's till this day, the first um uh Death Space, like nothing can touch it for me.
SPEAKER_03Like it was just very, very huge, and I was obsessed with it. The way that gore just kind of flew everywhere. I'm not sure when I want to.
SPEAKER_02Yo, yo, I started. Uh I knew I knew Death Space was a masterpiece when I started it. And when I say that I got um I got to a point and then my and then my uh and and my blackness just turned on, and I was like, I I am too immersed. And and since I am actually in here in this space, you assault me, I am not gonna, I am not going any further. Like you you have succeeded too well. I am not curious, I don't want to know. I don't I don't know nothing about this woman, but I know I know what I've had experience in the last 15-20 minutes, and I don't want no more. I'm good. I'm I'm Gucci. You uh it's amazing job well done. Uh I'm glad you you earned your money and achieved what you did. Right. But but I but I am I am good. I am I am Gucci. Well, all right. Um also getting a remake pretty soon.
SPEAKER_08Are you serious?
SPEAKER_03Um, oh well we're not gonna see Saune for a while.
SPEAKER_07No, you're not because that that oh my gosh, like they've been they've been trying to do remakes for it and they they've been coming out with like different games for like I think um it was like uh the Wii, the Wii. Um they they had a game when the Wii was huge for Dead Space, but it was like not that great to me. But um they've been having issues because visceral games, they originally wanted to do couch co-op with the second game, and EA is is it ain't shit. And they wanted to, yeah, like they didn't do the couch co-op because I actually wanted to play, you know, alongside with someone next to me. But I guess they kind of knew that the gaming world was changing to everything online, which I still don't like. I like having someone near me, but like I remember visceral was trying to have couch co-op for a while, and EA was giving them too much pushback. And I think the third game, to me, it flopped because I don't think that visceral games was given the creative freedom like they like they were given the first one. So if they come back, it has to be visceral games and it has to be hopefully away from EA so that they can just have you know full creativity to do whatever they want to do, because the world of dead space is so huge. Like when you find out that these markers are literally across the fucking galaxy, and that the one that was on the Ishimura, no, the one that was in Mars is not even the main artifact. Amazing. Like, I I wish I would love to see where they go with it if they really do, if they're very serious about it.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I mean, well, I don't uh Bissograns is that was is officially gone, but hopefully, hopefully, if this remake is true, hopefully they got enough of the core team.
SPEAKER_08Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Um, and also hopefully uh either either somebody either E8's is gonna let them breathe, or or maybe they sold maybe they maybe they sold the property to someone else, or you know, whichever what, but you know, that if they can get enough of the core team back and they let them actually make the game, right? Um yeah, yeah, that thing did yeah, uh a remake would be amazing.
