Welcome back to the Blurred Spectrum Podcast. We have been away for several weeks due to cons and work and family and schools and graduations and all types of things. People have been busy, lives have been happening. But you know what? We are back to give to you the content that you want to hear and that you know, honestly, we just want to give to you. We want to talk about it. And you know what? You're gonna listen now, Justin. You're probably listening. You may listen. You might listen. I don't know. So okay. So hey, hey, hey, our panelists are here to talk about the one and the only arcane uh this uh this uh animated uh show takes place on Netflix based off of characters from League, League of Legends, um, and or storyline from League of Legends, and uh I think each and every one of our panelists, uh, well, I think I'm the last person, but uh the rest of our panelists were in enthralled by this uh show, uh which asked me to watch it, and I became enthralled with it as well, watching with the Black McCoy. Um, thoroughly captivating storyline, interesting characters, world building. So if you knew nothing of League of Legends or knew nothing of you know Blizzard and their shit, uh you you you are wow in their shit. Uh you really wouldn't know where you were coming or where you were going, but I think they did a really good job of pulling you into this world and kind of stacking what this storyline was about, and it left so much space for a brand new season uh uh eventually whenever they decide to do it. So uh I'm gonna go ahead and introduce our panelists. Uh, of course, starting with myself, not today the moderator, but just the person introducing this entire thing, Suchino Shoden. Uh, next, I'm going to introduce uh Kaze Shinryu. Yeah yeah. Then, of course, I need to introduce Miss Sayune Cosplay. Hello. Of course, I then need to introduce the Black McCorm. The MomoCon slaying Miss Skittles. Hola, and our co-host, or I guess our host, and then his co-conspirator? No, no, his co-partner in life. Sorry. Anyway, the shampoo bracelets, bruiser Brody, and Dr. Quinzel. Yo! So we said we were only gonna bring about a retirement once, but it seems like Dr. Quinzel has somehow convinced her Joker to come out of retirement again. So he is back once again to host this arcade episode. Uh, I will now pass it over to uh the bruiser, uh huh, the Brody.
SPEAKER_11Yo, so um, yeah, uh, I'm sitting here fucking around with pictures. Uh I got nothing to do about it. Um, yeah. So today, you know, talking about arcade and stuff. Um I guess the reason why, you know, Dr. Quiz wanted me to do it because she said I played League of Legends. Uh I am sorry for everybody that's been through that, to be honest. I had that problem too with my life. I got away from it. I put that too.
SPEAKER_03You or any of your loved ones have been affected by League of Legends.
SPEAKER_11Stop, really.
SPEAKER_03You are entitled to compensation.
SPEAKER_11To give a background on this, uh, Arcane, I've waited for for a long time. I was one of those people that was sitting there like, man, why don't Riot just, you know, do a do an anime. They do all these great, you know, uh character profiles or champion, champion videos where they introduced the new characters or introduced groups, and finally they came out, uh, talked to Netflix and got a show called Arcade, which some considered the greatest anime of last year, correct? So anime, Adam El. So you can continue. It was it was a fight. Some people were down, people who had been fighting for Avatar gave up on Avatar and said, nah, this is an anime, we're gonna back. It's like so.
SPEAKER_03I um I mean, honestly, they can leave Avatar alone, but first of all, who was out here calling this an anime?
SPEAKER_08A lot.
SPEAKER_09A lot of people apparently really a lot of anything.
SPEAKER_08Oh, and if I did, I would have died on that hill. Cause no, boo, no. Yeah, I don't anime at all. Like watching this.
SPEAKER_02Like that. Let them have a few animated.
SPEAKER_11I saw I saw fighting. I had to start fighting these.
SPEAKER_04They say better.
SPEAKER_03This must have been one of the secret wars, because I didn't know about that shit either.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, I'm like, what? Who called it an anime?
SPEAKER_11Yeah, no, this is this is this is this was a secret war. For sure. Alright. I remember well best than the other, I was seeing anime like anime, like, like night known anime uh reviewers calling this for trying to fight for this to be an anime. It's like, no.
SPEAKER_03No, no. Any American-made thing that just so happens to have like some good writing.
SPEAKER_11Yeah, it was like, no, I think I was not anything.
SPEAKER_03It doesn't make it anime.
SPEAKER_11It was like, I didn't see y'all fighting for this like for from when Thundercast was out back when the new version came out. Nobody nobody sitting there like, oh my god, Thundercast should be an anime. It was anime inspired.
SPEAKER_03Maybe if they maybe if they did, it would have stuck around for more than one season.
SPEAKER_11That actually hurt. That actually hurt. But is that doing another one?
SPEAKER_02But oh, they're gonna get the game.
SPEAKER_11Nobody watching uh OKKL Sunday cast. Nobody's doing that.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I wasn't watching that yet.
SPEAKER_11Uh but um, so quick, we'll just do uh real quick, just get a round table thing before we get into a really deep discussion. Everybody, you know, just give out uh how you just give out a quick did you love it, did you like it, did you hate it? Just we'll go with those three and then we'll go into a whole discussion. Um starting with I'm looking at the way my screen goes. So we're starting with Ms. Gibbons.
SPEAKER_00So I love the is that all I get to say?
SPEAKER_11Um for the right now, just so we can get through this, just so we can get everybody's feelings out of the way, and then get into how you really feel? Yes. So Miss Gillis said she loved it. Um Black and Choi. I I like it. I like it.
SPEAKER_03I didn't love it. I like it.
SPEAKER_11Okay. Um, next is Kazo.
SPEAKER_03Uh loved it.
SPEAKER_11Loved it. And say on that. Loved it. Loved it. Alright, now let's get into the bullshit. Um, like, and this is the whoever wants to go first, just go ahead and go on this part just to you know keep it flowing. Um, also, actually, I almost forgot. Oh, my lovely, my lovely right, I gotta keep my home okay. Uh quiz.
unknownI loved it.
SPEAKER_11I loved it. So um, so now that we got that all out of the way, um, everybody give now we can get you an actual discussion on uh what we liked about it, what we loved about it, so on and so forth. But I'll let y'all decide who wants to do this part.
SPEAKER_03I didn't like James. She got on my nerves. I I legitimately was over her from her inception. And I felt and I almost felt bad because I'm like, damn, why am I hating on this female character? Nope, she was just trash. She was a trash person, and I hated her for it. I hated her for everything that she was. I hated how she grew up, I hated how she was when she was a child, I hated her justification for most of her actions. I did I and I also didn't I thought she was extremely derivative of a Harley Quinn type, which was absolutely unwarranted and necessary for her. And I have no idea where any of these things came from. And it's it, I I I did not like her. I she I don't I don't think she ruined the series for me. It was her presence and prominence of the kind of as a character that took my love it to like do a like it. Like I could have done without her as like a strong feature in the plot.
SPEAKER_09That's the first person I've heard say that because she's like one of the most beloved characters. Every time we go somewhere, listen.
SPEAKER_03That's because nerds love a pale, manic, prick pixie dream girl dream golf deranged girl for some reason.
SPEAKER_08I think people just like deranged people I don't I don't think I I don't think that I agree with that, but I definitely see where some of it's come up.
SPEAKER_02She didn't she didn't like piss me off, but definitely when it was coming down to explanations and justification, it was kind of like you did it.
SPEAKER_03You left me, bitch. You should have been left at that point. Like I did not, I don't I don't I'm not saying like I hated her, but like she like her as a feature just did not do it for me. And I was just like like her, like Kazuya was saying, like that that's really it. Like your motivations were awful, and everyone else's motivations were phenomenal. Like everyone else's place in this story made the utmost sense. Even um that councilwoman's uh mother when she showed up by her butch mommy goodness. But you know I think I want to say maybe it's because she was like clearly the youngest character out of everyone there, but like I was like the epitome of a villain art to me, and I loved it.
SPEAKER_07I love to hate her, and I thought I think that they really portrayed her well because she reminded me of like that kid that we see that the archetype of like that that kid that's like very, very off-putting, and we're like, oh, we don't want to piss them off because they might do some weird shit. Like that's how I saw Jinx, and I was like, wow, she is like the quintessential shooter vibes. She gave me, I don't want to save because I wanted to be nah, it's okay.
SPEAKER_10She's like, hey, we don't have to put on gloves, right?
SPEAKER_07She definitely gave me school shooter vibes, and the archetype of I've been bullied, I've been alone, I've been abandoned. So I love to hate her, but I understood that. And the thing is that there's a lot of people that, and then she was also mentally detached from reality, like she was out of control. You see what I'm saying? And it was because of trauma. So even though I I she annoyed the hell out of me, I understood why she became what she became. And then there was a lot of times that there was there are people that could have redeemed themselves to get her back. But because she was constantly being disappointed in not having support, I understood why why she she gravitated to the dark side like she did. And unfortunately, the villain lashed onto her predatorily, but latch onto her and gave her that compassion that she never had. So, you know what I'm saying? And so I of course, you know, you I I looked at her, I'm like, man, I wish she would just kind of just like somebody handle her from the very beginning. Like, I she I I I couldn't understand. She could not fight, she had no hands. They could have knocked shit out of her.
SPEAKER_09But like you're like, someone take this bitch's fight.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, I was like, please fight it. Quick. Um, but I but I she was she was very um I I really understood why he he became the way that she became. Um, and I appreciated the different dynamics that she brought to the table.
SPEAKER_08I I agree with Sani. Um, like like it like she said, there was a lot of trauma. Um, I feel like, yes, I mean she was absolutely probably like the youngest character. Um, I think, I think, yeah, I'm pretty sure she was the youngest. I ever wish she was.
SPEAKER_03Do you think they did that intentionally?
SPEAKER_08I would huh?
SPEAKER_03I was thinking, do you think they did that intentionally?
SPEAKER_08Um, I didn't play, I didn't play um legends, so I don't know where to.
SPEAKER_03Oh, me neither. I just meant like enough from the frame of the show. Her age is irrelevant to her.
SPEAKER_11Her age is literally irrelevant like that game. They don't even we didn't even have a backstory for her when she came in. She was just a crazy uh joker looking chick that came in with a big ass gun. We had a paragraph.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, vibe was related.
SPEAKER_08We just didn't know that they expanded on it. Um, but um um I think yes, so she's the youngest character, uh, and then it it was like a it was like a Echo Yeah, yeah. I was about to say Echo, Echo and her are probably the same age.
SPEAKER_09Love Echo.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, I feel like it was her need to, as powder, she was like constantly feeling like she needs to prove herself or she wants to be as good as her sister, if not better. Um and I feel like that constant need to be good or you know, productive and or have a purpose. I think that was her main struggle from what I saw. It was her struggle was having purpose and um but failing, and but failing every time. Um but when but when you don't have that support, when you have people constantly in your ear, like, oh she you know, she's extra or this, you know, she failed. We don't need her as like leave her behind type shit, it fucks with you. It definitely fucks with you. And then like the whole thing of failing and and Nick causing the loss of her father or the father figure or whatever. I think when that you know, Silco came in, it was it was literally like like uh Sayane said, like it was it was predatorial, like this man came in at a point where she was at her lowest and and and became the father figure, and then you know, shit spirals out of control from there.
SPEAKER_09She lost her father, she she killed her two brothers, and then Vi was so pissed off she didn't even want to look at it.
SPEAKER_07So my brother which is valid. So you know what? How Vi felt, I felt that because I'm like something like I felt that like you ain't shit, you constantly, and then your ain't goodness killed our brothers. So I I felt that I really did. She loved you.
SPEAKER_03You had one job to do.
SPEAKER_08Her feelings her feelings were absolutely valid, but um, in the like like like I said, in the same sense, um jinx or powder at the time, sensing like that whole sense of losing everything and having nothing. And then when I mean when you look at the whole, she was already having like the little mental, you know, bit like people spiral out of control. Like it's like it's literally like watching the a serial killer like or develop or whatever. Yeah, so she she literally had a psychotic break, and and then we have Jinx, who's literally batshit crazy. But I I fucked with I fucked with Jinx. Like after after Arcane, I really wanted to cosplay Jinx. Um, I fucked with her character hard.
SPEAKER_09Uh cosplay jinx, please. I have a correction. There was something I did like.
SPEAKER_08Definitely gave me Harley Quinn vibes. Yes, yes. Like that.
SPEAKER_09It was almost like Harley Quinn and Joker had a baby and she had like the worst of their quality, and you were like, damn, it's gonna absolutely nevertheless.
SPEAKER_03So, two things. There was actually something I can't say I did like about James, and that was her hair. That was really it. I'm not I mean that I'm not even gonna flex. I love the long pigtail vibe that was everywhere, loved it. And it it was everything. I love it, I love, I love a long hair bitch. But um I think that that Harley Quinn aspect is actually what made her unlikable for me. I guess because it's like I don't want it to I don't want Harley Quinn to become her own character archetype, to where I started seeing it in other places. Like if she was going to like for for me as a viewer, if she were going to have a psychotic break, I would rather it look unique to her rather than, like I was saying earlier, being derivative of a character that we already know.
SPEAKER_11The funny part about that is that if I remember correctly, Jinx was actually released before Harley Quinn became what she is today. Like Harley Quinn was the Harley Quinn all the time, the Harley Quinn character was in one place, one place only. That was Batman Animated Series. And then she started showing up in the comic book. Jinx came up before the movies. Before the, before the, you know, before the shitty ass fucking uh um Suicide Squad and all that. That's where that's where Jinx came up long before that. So it's funny how people look at Jinx now, it's like the the Harley Quinn archetype, but really, there was only two, and that was Jinx and Harley Quinn. Before now it's it's starting to seem like it might be an archetype thing. It was literally Jinx came out and no one paid attention to it, except for people who played League of Legends. So I find it funny how now we're looking at that, it's like arcade's out, but you also got everybody cosplaying this chick because of movies now. It's like, oh, the archetype, but really there was only two.
SPEAKER_08Look, so we also seen the art type in um Soul Caliper with uh old girl, what is her name?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I'll give you that. Tira, there we go. Yes.
SPEAKER_08Yes. So and I and I have her on my cosplay list too. So I'm just drawing to these things.
SPEAKER_11Yes. I think I think the two popular characters are making an art type, which is Jake's hair.
SPEAKER_03And I I can say that what I I absolutely I had no, I like until I did like it wasn't even a search. It just started to come up in my purview somehow that I didn't even know. I just thought this was a completely like original story. I didn't know these were already League of Legends characters. Um also like I think it's I I'll say like for myself, like because I was aware of like Tira and like a couple of other characters who kind of mimic this, you know, manic, um, this manic uh woman, uh psychotic woman archetype that it seemed like an archetype to me because I've seen it in other places already. And so to see it in Jinx just kind of put it in a bad position, I guess, timeline-wise. I understand.
SPEAKER_11And I I can understand that. I can definitely understand it. I think what's happening now is that this um this particular archetype is becoming more of a thing. And it's like now it's and now it's like, like I said, thanks to Arcane and Suicide Squad, or particularly Margo Robbie, this is now becoming more of a popular known thing that everybody's trying to hop on the train of. But really, it's been around for a while. It's just social, sociopathic winner. That's it. People like that. It's like the funny part about it, it's it's an attractive thing to a lot of people. And then you have characters like Harley Quinn or like Jinx that that people start to look at and they're like, oh wow, I actually do like this type of character. This I think she's more dramatic than what Harley Quinn is. I think I think Harley Quinn holds. I think the biggest difference between Harley Quinn and uh Jinx is that where Jinx is more outwardly dramatic, Harley Quinn is more inwardly dramatic. You don't know Harley Quinn's issues. You know, you're just looking at, oh, this is crazy chick that laughs a lot. When Harley Quinn is a perfect example of I laugh to keep from crying. Like when you start to really look at her story.
SPEAKER_08But I think our real major difference is Harley Quinn is also a fucking woman. She literally, she literally uh has is is capable of intelligence. And I'm not saying that she's dumb as shit, but we don't know. We didn't see Jinx, we didn't see Jinx like from what we saw on Arcane. That girl ain't never been to school.
SPEAKER_02Like, like she was an uh she was an engineering prodigy, like she was an engineering prodigy.
SPEAKER_03Yes, so we're gonna have her joint stomp instead.
SPEAKER_08I'm saying we have like we're having from from from my perspective, we have Harley Quinn who is booksmarked inside psychotic, and then we have like this child, you know, genius that's just men.
SPEAKER_11They also have a different type of genius too. When you look at it like where Jinx is well, Harley Quinn's intelligence comes in how she picks out human nature.
SPEAKER_03And like how Harley Quinn's very aware of that.
SPEAKER_11And how he yeah, how she's very aware. Jinx's intelligence is more, it's almost like she has uh when it comes to people, she's kind of stupid. But when it comes to like inanimate objects, or particularly explosives and chemicals, she's a fucking genius. And how she now she got, you can tell, you can see some intelligence and how she plans certain things out when she is older, but it's still not the same as like how Harley Quinn could plan out and execute certain things off of the prediction of other people. Like I said, it was it just seemed like Harley Quinn is just, it they they're both geniuses, but in two completely different areas, where Harley Quinn is more of a genius in terms of in terms of social interaction. Um it seems like Jinx is more of a genius in terms of just her use of inanimate objects. Or the or the or her surroundings, or the the the objects in her surroundings and how she turned it into giant colorful explosions. So it that that just that that seems like that's what it'd be the use of. But to move on to more characters now that we've got about it now about how we feel about it.
SPEAKER_03I wanted to get that out of the way first.
SPEAKER_11Thank you for starting that.
SPEAKER_03Kaze. Because I want to talk about a few hours later.
SPEAKER_11Kaze or Dr. Quinzel, do y'all have anything else to share about Jace?
SPEAKER_02Uh actually, yeah, I didn't want to say my disconnect with Jane. And it was specifically about y'all talking about how smart she is. Uh ain't ain't like they they already they already established that the fucking blue ball was unstable as fuck and what blew up the entire floor of that goddamn super mega apartment building. You took said mega explosive ball, put it, put it in one one of your little devices, and you threw it one wall separated from the people you trying to save. You know this I said jinx my power.
SPEAKER_10Alright, cool. Alright. Alright. Put that out there.
SPEAKER_02Like, yeah, like like in like you said, she's bad with people. That's not people. You should have exactly. It'll felt very clearly within her.
SPEAKER_11Jinx and Power. Those are in my mind, those are two completely different stupid people. Jinx is what happens when Powder made a bunch of mistakes and is now trying to deal with them, but she can't.
SPEAKER_03What happened at the end of the series? She shot up the school. Exactly.
SPEAKER_07But I did want to add on why we gravitate to these characters. Why do we gravitate to these femme characters that are on the verge of psychotic breaks or that are psychotic, but incredibly strong? We are so used to seeing women that are damsels in distress and that are weak, that are that are you know not capable of handling their own shit. So you now have this new, I would say more modern archetype of yes, she might not all might not be all the way there, but she's gonna handle hers. And so that's very attractive to a lot of people. Um I I do like the architects of just like having someone that can just handle their shit without being, you know, being on that verge of being a uh you know, a mass killer, but um I do enjoy um seeing that different dynamic because it's so I would say it's very uncommon to see that in the public eye. And we have grown to really attach to different types of archetype that we were grown up to watch. We weren't, you know, as a as children, all we had that were, I would say, glorified villains was Harley Quinn, Catwoman, and Poison Ivy. That's it. That was that was it, really. Uh, that were strong.
SPEAKER_02Have y'all seen uh Tank Girl?
SPEAKER_07We I have not, I know of Tank Girl, um, but like I'm talking about as in like when we were like children.
SPEAKER_02So the movie, the movie came out in '95. Like it's it was it was there, but uh, but that it was under the radar.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, I think I've just seen the cosplays.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I've seen cosplays, but I haven't actually seen the thing.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, I haven't, but but that's another thing. It wasn't advertised, not not to the point that most of us probably haven't even seen the movie. I didn't even know the movie or a show existed in '95.
SPEAKER_09So uh I think Disney did that to us because we always saw the princesses and they were damsels in distress and always needed a prince to save them nine times out of ten. So now, like you said, we're getting that reverse. Yes, except all on. Now we're getting the reverse of the females taking their own power back and all.
SPEAKER_02But yeah, Jinx definitely gave her vibes. The guns and uh like the black McCoy said, the Manic Pixie. It was it was definitely like part Saint Girl, part Hartley.
SPEAKER_03Now, the woman who handled her shit was Caitlin. Caitlin did not give a fuck. I mean Caitlin also was rich, but you know, Caitlin did not give a fuck about the rules. She was like, listen, it's a problem. We got we about to go figure out what's going on. I appreciate Caitlin as a character.
SPEAKER_09Caitlin, I think she was one of those characters that if she I could have done without, like, I or let me say, I I it didn't, I didn't care whether she was there or not. Like it made me VOD took the spotlight for me.
SPEAKER_03Like as she got older, it's like I mean when it came to Caitlin, I'm sure VOD took something else.
SPEAKER_09But you know what?
SPEAKER_07Majority of all the femme characters were strong in their own right, which I loved. Oh, yeah. Every single, and that's why I loved Arcane. It gave a different spotlight to every single femme character in that entire show. And Caitlin, you know, she had her, she had she was a sharpshooter. Um, you had even like the general from the office, the officer in Total. Oh, old girl's mom. Old girl is.
SPEAKER_03You dominated that dick left and right.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, she was the one that was in the um in the club that was talking, like, hey, you know, give give that bitch up. Because nah, I'm gonna have to send a whole army down. Like, I loved her, you know what I'm saying? And every single FEM female character was like on top of this shit. I loved that. Not one I can think of was like me, not one, even a Mel, even Mel had strength in her power. Hello, a black, beautiful, black, dark skin, uh, like cover. Insane, like, insane. I our arcane to me was a masterpiece, uh, for sure, for so many different reasons, so many different ways, and just how it brought so much so much inclusion, you know, to LGBTQ, LGBTQ plus to um different ethnicities, to colors, color, color coloristic, you know, values, and then just the skin types, the hair, like everything did not miss with any. So I really enjoyed it.
SPEAKER_03So now that you brought up Mel, I have a question. How old was she when she met Jace? That's something that's been waiting on my spirit for like a minute. Because when we meet Jace, he's very young, but I don't know how young or how old he is.
SPEAKER_11It's kind of like Jace is at the time I think Jace at the time was like 17, 8, like just turning 18, and Mel might have been 19, turned 20 or something like that.
SPEAKER_03Okay.
SPEAKER_11Because Mel, because Mel was raised in that life for a while, because I wanted that too. I actually wanted that too, and I know what you're talking about. Okay.
SPEAKER_03You know, because you know I know black don't crack, but she was the exact same when we had it was all consensual, and that nigga wanted it, so that's no, he did though.
SPEAKER_11And I I would like to point out, God bless, I was so happy because uh I remember Jace. When I first started playing League of Legends, Jace had just come out. So that's been my favorite character for a long time. And to see that he wanted male, I was like, yes. Yes.
SPEAKER_03When Jace went out that hammer, I was like, ooh.
SPEAKER_11So funny part about that, it was only like four, I think. Uh no, actually, yeah. It was Jace, uh, uh Jinx and Caitlin. Caitlin. Um, one of uh also Victor. Victor is a playable character. Umendinger is a playable character. That was a favorite. Uh like in uh the scientist for the uh scientist, because he's uh he's um he's uh Singe, yeah, he's Singe. Warwick showed up in one point, but he wasn't really, he didn't do anything. But I think because of who, I think because of who they used for Warwick, they actually saw him already. Um Silko, no Silco wasn't playable. Surprisingly not. Yeah, surprisingly, it's as good of a character. I in fact, it's funny. Almost everybody that you that was playable ended up living. I'm pretty sure. Because I don't think no, I don't care what my success.
SPEAKER_03Um again, but um by the end of that show.
SPEAKER_11Yeah, like I don't know. Like about the when that rocky hit, I was uh I we'll talk about that in a minute. But um there was one other there was one of um I'm missing somebody. Um and uh the mage that got that uh that they showed that saved uh what's his life, the mighty name rise, yeah. The the mage that showed up and saved somebody's life, uh that saved no, not Jake's life.
SPEAKER_09Um, the dude with the crutches.
SPEAKER_11Yeah, the same.
SPEAKER_09Can't remember his name.
SPEAKER_11Was it Victor?
SPEAKER_09No, no, no, no. It was the guy who was the partner with Jace.
SPEAKER_11No, it was yeah, Victor. That was Victor, but it was it wasn't that the maze that saved uh Jace's life, that made Jace want to start this shit. That was that was Rocks.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_11So um, so yeah, there was a lot of they actually had quite a bit of playable characters, but there's still like 120 characters all together. So good luck. Um does anybody want to build any more off of Jace or Mel or just that how that holds for a lot of it? That was actually.
SPEAKER_04So when she showed up, I was like, yeah, I want to be like this.
SPEAKER_08He showed up and showed out, like all the way out, like everything was out, and I was like, oh shit. I wouldn't see goddamn. I wasn't ready. I knew she was like like on some other shit because cause of the way Mel talking about her life and going back and all that shit, but when she showed up, I was like, damn.
SPEAKER_03It was almost like she's like, I know I'm back.
SPEAKER_08Like I feel what I am but also is that your nigga, because I can take it.
SPEAKER_09I was like, oh that no regards.
SPEAKER_03It was almost like saying, if he wants you, I know he wants me. He was giving that's your nigga until I say it's your nigga.
SPEAKER_02That on a screen, uh, the things this woman awakened in me. Oh my god. No, because she don't exist, and I'm not gonna lie to myself.
SPEAKER_03Let me like let me start cruising these bodybuilding competitions and get me a mic back. How much you left? Oh yeah, come talk. Let's come talk. I will say that like my favorite moment with Mel and her mom was that was like it was one of their final conversations. I think it was an episode in like the second to last episode or the last episode when she like was she stood up to her mom. She was like, nah, bitch, we need to talk. And I was like, Oh, girl, don't get hit. I mean, I know this is a whole progressive show, but you still black. Let's not play with those waters. Your mama's a big bitch. She will hurt you. She looked like she will fight.
SPEAKER_10She will she will fight, she can box with God. Like, right.
SPEAKER_03Let's not do this. But like when she when she had that moment, she talked to her, and she basically was like, um, like, why tell basically like you left me behind, like you abandoned me. And her mom was just like, because I couldn't stand the look on your face when I had to do what needed to be done to make sure that we were surviving. And I love that because it told so it told it like that one exchange gave so much backstory to their relationship, to you know, their individual justifications, to the people that they are now. She like, it like it told us everything that we needed to know about this mother that we've only that we've only known for a couple, maybe like an episode or two. And and not even like a whole bunch of screen time. Like, that's what made that moment so great for me, because it did so much writing in so little time. And just to know that her mom was, she knew what kind of person she was. She knew that she was a warrior, she knew that she was a soldier, and she knew war, and she knew how to make sure that her own was safe. And despite how she knew Mel felt, she knew despite whether or not she agreed with Mel being right about certain things, she knew that she was she knew enough about herself to knew that no, she wasn't gonna be able to change that. But she knew what she could do in order to maintain the integrity of her loved ones, of her family, and of her daughter. Like her daughter is ideologically light years away from her, but she knew that, and that's why she left her behind. Because she didn't want to build the kind of resent, like, even though like her leaving her behind built the resentment that a kind of resentment that she probably anticipated, but she was not trying to build the kind of vitriol and like and and like um what's what I'm looking for? Uh just uh anger towards her mother, anger towards her because of the person that she was and because of the things that she did.
SPEAKER_09So for for Shami B and Kaze, as far as the brother getting killed, do you all have any like insight or ideas on who the mom was referring to when she said your brother had been killed by such and such?
SPEAKER_02Uh, I mean, it could uh that's lit it's literally like 20 characters in the in the other side of the war of the of the niggas. Oxis?
SPEAKER_11So I immediately thought that was Dre Dartis. I immediately. I was like, yo, I can't wait to see this shit. It's a character.
SPEAKER_02It could have been, but it also could have been um what's that what's that big undead nigga?
SPEAKER_11Oh uh that was another one of my maids, too. I know you're talking about it. I can't remember his name.
SPEAKER_03Um But yeah, like like I said, they they the app almost Googled that big undead nigga, League of Legends.
SPEAKER_11You know what it's funny is that if you do it, you'll probably get it made.
SPEAKER_04Let's find out.
SPEAKER_02Why call that black come up? That's right.
SPEAKER_11But uh yeah, ladies and now it's I can't remember the name of I I didn't think it was him though. I just immediately thought it was Darius because Darius was that dude for a long time. In Cyan is who you're talking about. Um but uh like yeah, but yeah, for the Darius was that dude for nachos for a long time. And it was just gonna do, if you saw the ass come, it was a rap on that ass. It was just like, like, I remember in the games. It was like, if we saw somebody get chopped and die, we knew the match was over for us. Like it was like if he's gonna come through and chop a whole team, and it's like, alright, cool, he's gonna come through and do his little combo and chop a whole team. So I was like, that's all when they when she started talking about the brother dying and who he might have died to, I was like, I was either thinking it was him, I didn't think it was Sayel, but I did think it was uh the Raven nigga who um who his wife got his arm cut off. I can't remember his name right now, as well. But uh I thought it might have been him as well. Like the I think what really when the mother came in, what I really became excited about was that there are so many other cities and wars going on in this world that that made it true that okay, these characters are possible. They can literally do a season per per like war or city, and it'll be like a good eight seasons. Wow. Before people start to even meet each other. These are just city to city. Right. Like, so it's like the care the amount of characters, because at one point League of Legends used to do really well. They used to have uh actually as part of their site, their website, they had this corner where they just let a bunch of people tell stories concerning different characters. So he started to make the character the stories more. So that was how they built up a lot of their characters was that you would go read this little section to see these different building stories on like characters like Jarvin or like how Ari came about or how Ash, which is the whole master frail yard, what she's going through as the queen in her place. Um it was like that's that's how you got your backstories outside of reading the characters themselves. You would see how they interact with each other, who's got beef with who, so on and so forth. So what Arcane now is doing, like, Victor and Jace have a have a longer standing story than I even knew. Because when you got introduced to them in the game, they were just beef. They were enemies. I didn't even know they were roommates. Right? It's just like that's like it seemed like Arcane, the beauty of Arcane now is that it's starting to change a lot of background stories. And is giving all is giving away much more, it's giving away the story that we've all asked for for years, but they kind of took away from it. So now I kind of understand why, because they, yeah, they wanted to monetize and make you they can do something different with it. But um, but at the same sense, it seems like this is a good thing that they're doing here. Another character that I would like to hear that I'd like to hear everybody's thoughts on is Echo. What did everybody think of Echo? So happy when that little nigga showed up.
SPEAKER_03So happy. I was like, you better survive.
SPEAKER_08Right. I I feel like I feel like so, I feel like Echo's character is like, um, is literally like the the night and day, like if we did like a yin and yang of of Jinx and Echo, because they both went through similar shit. And Jinx like literally went way left and Echo went like way right. And he like he built a he he became like a pillar for you know their community. Um and that's what I really love about his his character. I'm glad that he didn't. I don't know, he just he just wasn't like it wasn't like oh this bad shit happened to this little poor black boy, and and then you know, we don't see him no more. Like he he literally came up, grew up, taught other people, built a community, and and protected it.
SPEAKER_07Yes, and protected it, it's people, and and even you know, the niggas dad didn't need didn't need protection, but that little soft spot for jinx and but you know what I loved about Echo is that the one thing that he had that Jinx didn't have was support, and I think that really kind of shows you know the thin line of being a villain and not being a villain. Like, you know, every single villain that we've met in you know media of sorts, like with anime or video games, if we know their backstory, they didn't have support. And um Jinx did not have any support, even when she had a family, she didn't have support. Um, whereas Echo, he always had support, he always had people that really loved him. Um, he even had support when uh dealing with like some people from from up the up at the top. I forgot who he was. No, no, he actually um he but I don't know. I feel like he applied himself a lot differently, even as a child, um, than uh Powder did.
SPEAKER_11I actually disagree with that. I think they both had support. I just think one had a more of a better internal foundation than the other. Echo was a different type of crazy because if you had the whole scene where he's able to be a chase, he's in the little the little wheel bike. Fucking but it wasn't like Echo was crazy. But Echo was like Echo had more of a, I guess, uh a stronger foundation than what Jakes had. And it's like Jakes was always seen as some type of fucker. Like it was just like Echo was Echo knew his weaknesses and was trying to build odds in them. Jakes just thought she was weak. And that was it. Like it was just like there was nothing for her to build. It was just I'm I'm this problem for everybody that was around. And then she started to do something.
SPEAKER_02And it looked like they left Echo to do what he was good at. Like he he he f he think he tinkered with shit, he watched the shot, and you know, because he he can't he he followed, he went all the way to the upper city and case that place by himself. Whereas the dicks couldn't even go on the damn missions. Like, why then why'd y'all even bring her? Like literally bringing everybody down. It was so it was so confusing that she just didn't stay home and tinker with shit or clean shit.
SPEAKER_11It was I think that was one of the other big differences between her and between they allowed Echo to to uh I guess build himself. Where it's like they kept bringing Jinx out and being like, alright, do this. It's like Jinx, like, I can't necessarily do that. And I remember like Milo and the other biggie dude would even ask Bob like, why are you doing this? Like, why you keep bringing her with us? And she's not cable. She's not ready. Yeah, she's not ready. It's like leave her and home with Dan at home. They wouldn't do that with her. I think that was kind of it was just the support system was different.
SPEAKER_03Unless she got a cup of coffee.
SPEAKER_07It was different, but I think like not everybody has the same learning curve. And I think that's why I understand Jinx. I don't, I don't, I would say I'm not about to learn parkour at 86. I don't give her any excuse on how she acted, and you know what I'm saying? But like we've all been in a situation where we're trying to prove ourselves, and we've all been in a situation where people told us that we ain't shit. You know what I'm saying? And how that affects our our psyche in a way. So like if you if we don't feel confident doing something, and then other people feel people don't feel confident in us doing it, it's like I don't feel like they gave her the support wasn't the same. That's how I feel. Like, even when she was with family, she's she's still a genius. She has she has wonderful skills to create something out of nothing that no one else has. But they didn't know. I don't think, I mean, these are children as well. I don't think they just knew how to talk. Yeah, they didn't know the talents.
SPEAKER_11As we're sitting here having this conversation about how much how smart Jinx is, people for some odd reason failed to talk about how smart Echo really is. Echo was a genius on another on another level as well. Because all the stuff he was able to do to make the hood somewhat better than what it was. Like it was like like actually not somewhat much better than what it was.
SPEAKER_02I needed some uh I I needed some more spring time because I knew what I knew what Echo did. So I'm like, and I'm like, okay, he was watching the shop and he was sneaky, okay. And and so I'm trying, I'm trying to figure out how time powers are gonna happen. I was like, okay, it's gonna be an accident and we're gonna That's what I was trying to figure out too. Like, oh no, I made it. I was like, what the fuck you mean you made it?
SPEAKER_10Yeah, that's what that's what I was trying to think about. Like the fucking body. When Echo first came out this time ago, he stole that in the game. Yeah, exactly. They changed that around.
SPEAKER_11They said he made it instead of he stole it. And I was like, alright, cool.
SPEAKER_02Because for a long time, they got them niggas shit themselves over text text, but we got time travel. It's happening and we like the people.
SPEAKER_09They got time travel and y'all like late.
SPEAKER_02Like, yo, like I I mean I know I know uh I don't echo there doing it from like like yo, uh, a hammer danger should have like came after he saw some fuck that nigga get this. Like, nigga, you could do what with the hoop?
SPEAKER_03You find a lot of amazing things when you go to the hood.
SPEAKER_07It's called doing what you gotta do for the life. I did have a question on the aesthetic of Arcane. Um, I loved how they added 3D with um shade uh shell shading. Um do you think that Arcane would have the same vibe if it was any other different medium for what it was?
SPEAKER_11No. It would have just been steamed. It would have been steampunk with some mysticism, and that's about it. Like that that's all it that's all it would have been. I think they I think the fact that they went with that style was perfect for what, especially for what League of Legends was and what League of Legends has done in the past, this was just a more stylized version of what the game is.
SPEAKER_08I was about to say, the the care, I mean the character design in the game is similar to our game.
SPEAKER_11Exactly, it's very similar. And I think all they did was literally just take what they've done in the game and make it more stylized so it's a little bit easier to work with and they can do more with it.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_03I'll I'll say yes, but I think it's it's it's a very extremely conditional yes. Like it would take the right animators. Like it would legitimately take a studio that we know and trust that makes a really bomb ass uh 2D animation that, or like fuse 2D animation with some like other 3D elements that would have made it on the same level as what we got, but just on a different part of the spectrum.
SPEAKER_09So we would have need somebody from Love Death and Robots too, pretty much.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, like it would have had to be a Love, Death and Robots animator. It would have had to be one of the.
SPEAKER_11Well, would it have been like, I don't even know if uh what's uh I can't remember the name of it now. I love this movie, but it's it's a particular animator who's known for like just having the most bombastic, like it's like the Michael Bay of animators in terms of anime. You know what I'm talking about? Because it's like they because they give it a. Do you know the name of the movie? Uh it's something with a P. Um, but it was like a bottle of firefighters who were fighting like these little Chromere. Promere, yeah. The people who play Chromere. I I can see them trying this and maybe doing something. I agree. Oh wow, is it Studio Trigger make Promere? Yeah, there you go, Studio Trigger. There you go. There you go. Yeah, yeah. Studio Trigger I can possibly see doing something with this. But even then, I don't know if it would have looked, it wouldn't have looked it would have been a studio triggering.
SPEAKER_03Like it would have been great as well.
SPEAKER_11It would have white as fuck. Like it was like, like certain areas I don't think they would have done as well. Like it's like because how Studio Trigger focuses so much on color. So that dark aspect of arcade would have been underneath the city, especially, would have been would have been killed a little bit because of how Studio Trigger does their art. I don't know if it would have if I think some things would have worked, but I don't think like the darker aspects would have came to life as well. I don't think we would have seen Jinx as trouble as we did. She was just another animated taggers. Tagging. You know what I'm saying? I don't she would have been the same, she would have been like, you know, a steampunk version of old girl when they uh did Star Wars. So it's like so I don't think it would have worked out easy as well. Um I'm happy that they went the route that they did, actually. I think that was, I honestly think that was the best way they could have gone. The only other way I think they could have gone if they did something like if they did uh, I don't know if anybody has played Jet Set Radio. Like it's like if you ever look up a cell-shaded style for look up Jet Set Radio, look at the cell-shaded style for that game. That is to a lesser extent this. So I don't know if that would work.
SPEAKER_07You know, I agree. Um, it gave me, I remember the Matt Gala, and everybody was uh confused. I guess some people were confused on the gilded glamour. And Arcane gave me gilded glamour. It was very dark and gritty, but you felt that it's very of you know the upper class, the upper echelon versus the people that were not fortunate to have that privilege. And I think it wouldn't have communicated well if it was any other different type of style. That grittiness, that dark, and and also every single shot of arcane, every type like you could you could make a skill shot of everything, and it would have been something you would see in like a graphic novel. Every single skill shot. It was beautiful, and I mean, like from the world building, from just even the background, you got to see the world of like the underbelly, you got to see the world of a pilt over, and also even um when they were doing experiments, like you saw the different dynamics and a different feel. And I think I don't I don't know who the genius was to think of like wow, this this particular art style would just fit well in different dynamics of the entire show, but it did, it just fit perfectly. You know, you saw what Mel, you saw the riches of Mel, but you also saw like the hurt that she had to go through. You know what I'm saying? And I feel like that that type of medium wouldn't have come across the same if it was like 2D or if it was like an anime style. It would have to be something that gave that grittiness to you know to it, add that that I would say the wild, wild west, you know, with with um uh Will Smith, how it was like it was like um the Wild West meets um steampunk but grittier. And I like that feeling that Arcane gave throughout the entire show while adding color. And that was something that I never thought possible. You can have something dark but colorful at the same time, even with the shimmer.
SPEAKER_03And you know what, Sony? That made me think like everything that you just said made me like pay attention to the fact that they did, they weren't linear with it either. You didn't just have like the like you didn't have the tops, like everything up top, and then everything below the undercity, like they transitioned that through all of the different characters, all of the different settings, regardless of whether you're in the undercity or regardless of where you were, like they were able to utilize that like that brilliance of the color that they had, as well as manipulate the lighting and the darkness and the shadow, depending on the moment that you were in and what character you were with, so you got a better understanding of what was going on. Like when we saw Victor working in his lab, or whenever we saw Jace like having a much more intense, like thought-provoking moment with himself, like the the lighting direction in this show made such good use of every single angle and all of the all of those aspects of like color manipulation to further tell the story of what was going on.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I'm I'm almost I'm almost convinced that they uh that they literally like invented new techniques just to do this show. Cause usually, usually when you're looking at animation, usually you have to pick something like it where it's like it's something. Like saturation or you know, contrast. It's like you you know, usually you got all your sliders and something, you know, and you make you focus on something else, and then something else like doesn't pop. But like the way the way they like literally made everything just look exactly as dark or exactly as bright or or just or shown the juxtaposition between the two and just the uh like like on it, like this the show was like it really could have like hit that uncanny valley if they did it wrong. But like it was like it was very it's like very very like hyper detailed, but also no one looked no one looked weird. Yeah, it was it was so good. Yeah, I don't I think I think another uh like artistic style would have had to really like step it up or or or or like you said, be like that love that uh Auroba said. But again, those are shorts for a reason.
SPEAKER_00That would be expensive as fuck.
SPEAKER_02I mean that's not to say I told everyone that like that if you if you hit you pause at the right frame, you can see the money in between the frames. I'll be good.
SPEAKER_07It didn't sacrifice the action, and uh we see that a lot. Yeah, like um anytime we're watching anime, you can see the butt change, you can see where it's just like you know especially with like Demon Slayer.
SPEAKER_09Especially last season of Demon Slayer when they had that awesome fight, you were like, Oh, you know, I'm gonna work.
SPEAKER_07But you can you can see it. You can see you every single anime that I've watched, every shonen that I've seen where they're about to do a fight scene, you can see the change. You can see the shift where it should from, you know, like I would say the the rising action to the climax. You can see the shift in it, shifting gears. And arcane didn't really show too much of like a massive shift because it kept that high tempo, that that high quality throughout the entire show. When it was lax, the graphics were high. And when it was action, you could tell a little bit more budget was put in, but because the there was such high, a high caliber throughout, you weren't really surprised in a way, like if it was like maybe like a regular anime, so to speak. So, like I would say I was more surprised because I've never seen action with that style, and it just made it so beautiful. Like it was like when Echo was on that bridge, baby! And they were flashing back and forth. Oh my god, I literally stood up on my damn bed. I'm like, what the fuck am I watching? I was it was just I I just it blew my mind, and I had to replay it again because I couldn't believe what I just watched. I was like, What did I just see? And I was screaming three o'clock in the morning about the wake of my mom, but I didn't care. I was screaming top of my lungs because I could not believe what I was witnessing. It was just magic and um the direction, the cinematography, the choreography as well with the art. I I I've never seen any, I don't have anything to compare it to. And that's what we love about art. When you can have something brought to you that's fresh and new, and that is a classic. I literally cannot compare that to anything I've ever seen.
SPEAKER_03Noah Crown that you said something that really like made me my mind twitch. I don't know, I that's a weird way to phrase that, but that's the best I had at the moment. Um that was that that distinction we see in a lot of anime where like we see those fight transitions. And I think because the difference between what we see in Arcane and what we see in anime a lot of the time, um, is that Arcane the Arcane wasn't building up to fight scenes, like it wasn't building up to certain kinds of conflict. Like, I I like that kind of how I describe like this season of this fourth season of Stranger Things, there are multiple side notes. That's that's a different episode. But like the way the story was structured is like there's a lot of different things happening at one time, and they're all going to come to a head to the same singular point, right? It's like you see all these different points of conflict, and they look like they have nothing to do with each other, but at the end of the day, they're they're all headed to the same place. Like all of the rocks are falling, but they're all falling towards the same target, which I thought was really beautiful. And because that's what was happening, and there was so much drama, um, and so much um like so much tension in every aspect of those different stories being told, that you almost forget that there's not like a huge fight scene happening all the time. Like, the and something like Kazi and I've talked about many times is like the the fight scenes that do happen, they aren't there for the sake of just being there. They're there because the conflicts that have occurred in those particular stories, regardless, you know, especially in the case of Arcane, regardless of where in the story is taking place, like they are a byproduct of all the things that have happened or that have led up to those points. So they become more important based on, you know, what's happening in the story. But Arkane didn't lean so much on like physical conflict or like using force to um incite or to kind of like resolve some sort of plot point, but it used it to move it along in a way that was very that's usually very distinct, in a way that's very distinct from how a lot of anime usually handles like physical conflict and battles and like big like meetings of the fists or whatever. And I think one of my favorite things overall about the series is that it does tease this like huge clash between Vi and Jinx in like the opening credits or whatever, and we never like really get that because their their overall conflict with one another is not one of like physical combat, it's not one that can be solved through. Now, I disagree because Vi definitely said knock the shit out that little girl, or we would have been done a while ago.
SPEAKER_10Honestly, I think I think it would have just made the beef earlier. Yeah, but that's how she got knocked the fuck out.
SPEAKER_03I mean, if Batman has taught us anything, if you pop a crazy bitch in the mouth, you can handle a lot of problems.
SPEAKER_02Unless they like it.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, that's what you're gonna do.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, yeah, because that fight between um her and Echo. That fight between her and Echo was getting a little intense, you know.
SPEAKER_07But you're you're 100% correct, like, you know, and the more I've I guess we're both kind of tweaking, our minds are tweaking, uh, you know, uh, so to speak. You're right. When we watch anime or when we watch uh fight scenes, you know, with like cartoons, even with like um um Invincible, I forgot to think that's the name. Like a fight scene is to resolve an issue. And a lot of these animes and a lot of these like cartoons feel like, all right, well, hey, this is we're gonna fight. I'm gonna fight you, we're gonna win, and then we're gonna move to the next arc of the entire show. And that was never the point of any fight scene really in Arcane. It was to move along to a different dynamic of the show that actually completely have a conclusion to or you know, or like to resolve an issue. None of the fights ever resolved anything, and that was something that was uh interesting as well. Nothing was resolved.
SPEAKER_11A lot of times those fights start a new issue. Right. That was like they made more problems. Right. The other fight that that really caused a big issue was with Jason Bob and all of a sudden.
SPEAKER_03But you will hit a bitch in a minute if you need to.
SPEAKER_07But it's also very realistic as well, because that is that's life. No war, no, no fight has ever resolved in, you know, uh like an issue. Like, oh hey, it's done, be good, be friends, be cool. Nothing. That's the breath. Real life. You fight, you go to war, it's causing more freaking issues. There's more that's gonna come out of it that is going to be even worse than what it was before. And so Arcane touched on a lot of real life things.
SPEAKER_03They balanced it out by showing diplomacy and just sitting around and talking doesn't solve everything either. Yeah, that was one of like the primary like uh ends they had, like those that binary they created between uh Piffover and the under city is that the under city is characterized by like a lot of force and a lot of violence, even from the city above it. And the city and the and Pilfover is supposed to be this place of like uh like this enlightened place of like intellectualism and diplomacy and technological advancements and etc, etc. And they don't actually get anywhere in terms of resolving problems either. Without using a little bit of violence, right? They even the violence that's the violence that they do use is towards the under city, yeah. And the diplomacy that they they claim to like hold so high like high and mighty and like high in dear and close to their hearts is corrupt as fuck.
SPEAKER_11Or it's just a front, or it's just a front, it's just everything else.
SPEAKER_09I mean, speaking of diplomacy, let's skip forward a little bit. Um who do you think, if any, survived the blast? Because remember, they were all in the room, they were talking about what they were about to do, and then you know, Jinx let that rocket off.
SPEAKER_07I think everybody dead but Mel, to be honest. I feel like Mel's gonna come out being like one of the few people that survived besides um Jace.
SPEAKER_03Yes.
SPEAKER_07I think Jace was in there too. I'm not gonna lie.
SPEAKER_03I kinda hope I kinda hope Mel died. And I only hope Mel died because I would love to see what her mother does when she finds out.
SPEAKER_06Oh my god, we're not ready for that.
SPEAKER_03I am ready for that. I'm ready for mommy to put on the bootstraps. I'm ready for her. I want her to crush every single person in that show until she finds who the fuck killed her daughter. Can we have a can we take take a moment to appreciate that moment when Mel woke up in the middle of the night and her hair was just big and oh, and those golden inlays is yes.
SPEAKER_02Oh, the way I pause in this in this in this mm. I know I know one thing uh uh I want I wanted to touch touch on is um is like how much I love silk, so uh uh loved and appreciated Silka. Like they really wrapped up like every end of like where he was coming from and like and how who he was and then his relationship with uh what's the dude's name again?
SPEAKER_11Um was it like Warren or something like that?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I don't know, but uh yeah, the yeah, the later. Like yeah, his relationship uh like with him and also what what really what really sealed the deal for me is like like you know, and like while we said and while it was true that it was like he he did kind of prey on powder, I think what I think, I think from his point of view, he saw, he saw in powder. Everybody told him to stop fucking with her because she's fucking crazy. Like, mind your business.
SPEAKER_09You know what I'm doing. That he did love her.
SPEAKER_03Even in his last dying breath, he was like, I would never give him that. Yeah, yeah, exactly.
SPEAKER_07I was like, if you don't shut the fuck up, you're already a damn villain. I would never give you his last dying breath. I'm like, oh hell, no, she's not coming back.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, then no, nigga. So Silco was Silco was amazing.
SPEAKER_11Speaking of which, um, another character that uh does it that probably should get a lot more attention. I actually love that they expounded his story a lot more, is uh Victor.
SPEAKER_03I'm glad you said Victor, because Victor low high key. Not even low, high key, one of my favorite characters in the whole show.
SPEAKER_11One of the favorite, one of my favorite characters of the whole show. Uh I actually loved how they did his story.
SPEAKER_09Um Can we RIP to that girl or not?
SPEAKER_02Girl! I'm saying so. I was like Victor's assistant.
SPEAKER_08Yes. We gotta pour one out for her.
SPEAKER_03We gotta pour one out for her and Barb because both of them died unceremoniously. Unnecessary.
SPEAKER_09Wait, did you just bring back Barb? I did.
SPEAKER_03Her and Barb died on that same bullshit. They didn't deserve it.
SPEAKER_02Matter of fact, I'm gonna pour one in.
SPEAKER_08Pour one. Oh, pour one in. Oh shit.
SPEAKER_07So apparently I think that Victor in the League of Legends was crazy. Is that true?
SPEAKER_03Was he a fighter? Is he a community battery that you can use?
SPEAKER_11Yeah, so what people don't understand is Victor is the guy who has a robotic arm that comes out of his back, but he looks like Dr. Doo. So what what we see in the game is is literally Victor after he's gone through the full transformation. Like he's like there is nothing of him that even looks human anymore outside of what's underneath the armor. The story that they're giving us is what led to that. Because by the time we see Victor, we kind of knew that him and Jace had a little rivalry going on, but we they were never cobblers. It was at some point or another, Jace got too much pub, Victor got jealous, Victor lost his shit and then started going, Doctor Dune was blowing up the whole city of Piltover. That's when Jace creates the hammer.
SPEAKER_03This is like a cybernetic song.
SPEAKER_11Yeah, yeah. Yeah. That's why, like, when you when you look at a picture of Victor in League of Legends in comparison to what he looked like in Arcane, it's like, damn, this is what he's going to become. But we don't get the whole story of what he's about to, what he was before he started. So that's why that's why it was fun to watch him build into the character that he is to watch that he was also another person from the lower city that came up off of his intelligence. And he had a disability that he was made fun of, so it made it, so he couldn't really even play with other kids. Like he was dying. This nigga was not dying. Like he was, he was, he was Mr. Glass with cancer. So it was like it was bad. It was like the fact that we actually got to see that, see his character, see him go through the full transformation, to see him go from being this kid to just like, look, I got my intelligence, that's all I really need because the world that kind of rejected me, to being, okay, I'm starting to get a little bit more accolades, but I'm losing time. So these accolades are cool, but are they gonna keep me alive to being like, I gotta do what I gotta do to get what I need, and then finally the loss of the assistant, which I think set him back, but it would even push them, but then even push them farther and be like, I gotta do what I gotta do. Because now Jason on his Jace's on the call and shit. Jason give a fuck about me. I gotta finish for me. All my people, I gotta finish for me.
SPEAKER_02One of my favorite things about their dynamic is that is that Victor was uh was a mirror for Jason's privilege. Yeah, yeah. Every time uh Jace was like, oh yeah, we gotta do this because this is this is how things work. And he's like, work where? Uh here? Let me put it into perspective for you.
SPEAKER_03I'm glad you have the luxury of doing shit like that.
unknownRight.
SPEAKER_07I am curious um as to who that mysterious guy was that transported Jace from the other world. Like, I like how like he's a mystery to us. We don't know who he is. I don't know if he was in um he was like uh the a mage.
SPEAKER_11Yeah, so that's that's the guy that I said I think is Rise. That's another character too. That's a mage character that is uh that's in the game. Um is a blue dude. But like they would like to see I would like to see what they do with his story. Like, nah, he literally looks like a giant fucking jacked up smoke with a big ass crow. But he but he's strong in the game, though. But I would like to see what they I would like to see if they bring him back and explain that. And I would like to see if I'm right about that. Because there's a lot of characters that could be. Like that, like hell, for all I know there could be another champion that's in the game. I do think he's gonna be a major character. I just would like to see who he is.
SPEAKER_02So Rise is one of their favorites. Like Rise, Ash, Rise, Vendomir, like I think I think all of them are likely to have like big stories and impact.
SPEAKER_11I think Cassidy might have a big story too.
SPEAKER_02Uh uh, oh yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_03So I think plot-wise, an enemy of my love for Victor is Mel. And that's partly because watching Mel kind of take Jace away from him in a sense and push him towards this higher position, which tore him even further away from the work that he and Victor set out to do in the first place. I like that it like it bothers me not in terms of like the plot, but it just bothers me like, oh damn, that's fucked up. Like I thought I still thought it was very well written and how it happened was really great, and it made sense because that happens to people in real life, like they constantly get taken away from and moved to higher positions and given other kinds of responsibilities and told they have to adhere to certain like duties and moral principles and like ways of conducting themselves and things like that, and get so taken away from the thing that they were initially there to do in the first place. And I was so I I was always on Victor's side because Victor was constantly trying to remind Jace, like, this is what we're here for. We're not here to make weapons, we're not here to do this, we're not here to do that. We're we're here to make something that's going to be actually be good. And I think it was a line, I think either Victor said it or someone said it. I heard it somewhere, and it was like on the way to like in instead of doing something good, like we lost ourselves in doing something great instead of just doing something good. Like we lost ourselves on the way to greatness. Like greatness, trying to be great, didn't actually do any good.
SPEAKER_07I agree to an extent. I feel like Jace and Victor, in the beginning, they had the same vision to basically make the make the community greater, you know, for everyone. But I feel like, um, whereas Jace Jace was really selfish to me in the beginning, he started to swap with like his selfishness. I feel like he became more selfish. I feel like he became less selfish as he started to see problems. And I feel like Victor started to become more selfish as he saw what it could, what, how it could benefit him. And that was something that I wasn't expecting, that dynamic shift. Um, you know, because they both in the beginning, they were like, we want to make everything better for everyone. But when Victor started to see that, you know, his mortality is basically declining each day that passes like, well, instead of helping everybody else, oh, I know this shit can help me. I don't know if it's due to the hextech stone corrupting him or if that was how he always felt as well. So I don't know what you guys think about that.
SPEAKER_03So my thought on that specifically is I understand it more for Victor, and that's I I want to say there's a little bias there, but it's also partly because when I see Victor, I think and I see Victor and Jace's relationship, I see Jace as having basically for all intents and purposes, left Victor there to essentially been for himself, and they were a really like powerful team. And now Victor's on his own again, and Victor knows his health is declining, it's been declining for years, and he's about to die, but he wants to continue the work that he needs to do. But in order to do that, he has to be able to function as a person, and he can't do everything that he needs to do by himself if without Jace. And so now that he's if he for all let's say he's come he's gone through this process in the series of coming to terms with the fact that Jace isn't around anymore, and he's the only and all it's only him, and it was very clear that he didn't pay that much attention to this assistant, who was very clearly in love with him. Um, so he's like as someone who is functionally tries to be independent in so many different ways and sees themselves as constantly having to do things on their own. I can understand Victor a bit more because it's like I need to make sure that I can survive and I can live not only just for myself, but so I can continue the work that I set out to do initially, so that I can do the good thing that I have been like promised myself and Jace and I promised each other that we would do, especially now that Jace is no longer a part of this initiative in the in the capacity that he that he initially started out to be.
SPEAKER_02Yep, and that and that divide ultimately lit lead makes makes him go back, go over the send. Who he knows nothing about and and just like pr pretty much uh making certain you know his path down the you know quote unquote dark side.
SPEAKER_03Um because I mean he didn't he was he didn't have the knowledge on his own.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, and it was really I was it was really unfortunate. Like I thought I thought I thought the I thought Jace's kind of uh separation from from him would be more gradual. Like I thought, I thought like after he like got his new like status and had and had more stuff, he would like go back down there a few more times or try to pull him back up or to get him more attention, get him more something. But it was a day, he literally just kind of got went up, got promoted, just got got got hypnotized by the pussy.
SPEAKER_06Hypnotized by the pussy, hello. That was really what it was.
SPEAKER_09Oh, it was that he wanted to say her good graces, okay?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, no, I mean it it was it was it was that, but also he was working to make a name for himself, and he and she literally put him in a position to like she was she literally fast-tracked him to his dream. So it was so so yeah, so it was a pussy, but also half the things you ever wanted, you know, with a slide, with a slide of the best.
SPEAKER_08Right.
SPEAKER_03Promotion and perks.
SPEAKER_11My question is that is does anybody else see it as like a like um it was a story of corruption, how they were both corrupted by one was corrupted by power, the other one was corrupted by the lack of time. Yeah, I mean, the whole entire thing about King is powerful.
SPEAKER_03I would say less lack of time and more desperation.
SPEAKER_11Well, that came with the lack of that came with the lack as the time was dwindling down. As time was dwindled down, desperation became higher. While the other one, while he's watching the other one accrue power more so, and as what he is accruing power, he's forgetting what this or what started all this.
SPEAKER_07Um I think it was when when Victor started to see that there was hope for him to live longer because of the hex tech. That was when you start to see his mentality change. Like, I mean, I feel like he would have been kind of like the same how he was if if hextech did not improve him the way that it did. Like he was literally had knee braces on, and you see him basically running, breaking off the knee braces because the hex tech helped him so much more than I think he even knew. And I think it was the corruption of the hex tech and what it could do for him. And he's like, oh shit, like I never knew that I could be able to walk. I never knew that I'm not gonna be disabled.
SPEAKER_05You never knew, right?
SPEAKER_07I think it was I wouldn't say it wasn't so much as like the corruption of time, but more so as like, I don't know, corruption of hope, if that makes sense. Like, it's like wow, like damn, like I can do everything that I already basically sworn off. Like he knew he was not gonna live long, and he just really wanted someone to kind of help further his research when he dies. And that I think that's why he had that um that uh collaboration with Jace. Because I in the beginning, I think he knew that he was from Bravo Khan. But when he saw that the hex tech made him, gave him abilities that I don't think he even was able to dream of. That's when he's like, Oh well, fuck this. Shit, I could be great, y'all. Be great. I think that's really what the corruption for me, that's what I saw. The corruption really started to kick a hold. When he um was merging his DNA with the hex tech, the hex tech was gonna fuck it up, fucked up shit. And he was like, Hey, hey, hey, this this is up. And like when like his uh assistant was saying, like, this is this is not gonna end well, when Chase was saying that it wasn't gonna end well either, because he started to see, yes, I mean, he was abandoned, so to speak, but it was I think it was much more than that. I think it was he's really starting to see hope of him actually able to like survive and see everything that he worked hard for coming to fruition and him actually witnessing it. Because I don't think he was able, I don't think in the beginning he was going to witness all of his hard work. He just wanted to pass it along to somebody that he can trust so that he knows in the future Hex Tech can do something great. But now I think it's completely like bitch, I'ma fucking go in my final form and fuck everybody up. And that's what I really think. Like, that's where his mentality is down.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, no, I can definitely I can definitely agree with that. I think uh I think it's very similar to uh like Wanda and the Dark Hole, like you know, not only whispering sweet nothing into her ear, but showing her exactly what she wants and putting uh yeah, no, that was definitely Victor is like, you know, saying and and the separation from Jace. And and I don't even think Jace was was even fully corrupted. I think he's just young and stupid and shouldn't be in the position he's in. She put him in that position to take advantage of him. It's not because he should have been on a council making.
SPEAKER_03Oh, yeah, that was absolutely that was absolutely a game of chess.
SPEAKER_02She knew she was she knew she was in the minority on that council. Yeah, yeah. So him, yeah. So he had no business being a well, I'm not well to be fair, most of them didn't have any business. The Heimerdinger did a terrible job. He should have been the principal and nothing else.
SPEAKER_07Right. Yeah, you had two people of power that were being predatory. You had um Silco, um, and then you had Mel, and they both were were being predators, uh, so that they could benefit from people that were vulnerable, and they got what they wanted. Um, both of them got what they wanted in the end. Um, not saying that. You're right. You right. Um You're right. You're you're you're you're I agree. I agree. I don't know if um, I don't even know if Mel even loves PS to be honest.
SPEAKER_02I think she came to like him.
SPEAKER_08I think you kinda like him. I think she kinda likes him. I don't think I don't think there's anything more though.
SPEAKER_09No, you know, he's um he's cute, you know, gives slings good dick. You know that.
SPEAKER_02I think she had a uh moments when she was in the bed just staring at the ceiling. That was that was giving me like a little, like, oh, I'm feeling something.
SPEAKER_03I don't know the way her mama was set up. That that might have been hereditary. She was she she had Dom in the bed. She ain't she started because you don't know what you're doing. Let move.
SPEAKER_02If it came from mama, then she just would have got back up and started doing what the fuck she would have been doing. Cause she's just because she thinks it's down and don't give a fuck if that came from mama.
SPEAKER_07Right. You ain't see no damn stars and galaxies with the mama. You ain't seen that one damn thing, you ain't seen no damn you know, uh black holes forming.
SPEAKER_03Mama was like, Mom, you see the light at the end of the tunnel and you just happen to come back, like, what the fuck happened? That was amazing.
SPEAKER_02Whatever Jace put whatever hextech Jace put on her.
SPEAKER_05Oh shit.
SPEAKER_02After she got Jace where she wanted, it it was, it seemed, she seemed much more supportive. Like we had all those scenes of her saying, like, oh, I need this, I need this, and I'm gonna do this. After after she got Jace up there, it was much less her doing back dealing. It was much less her showing any agency at all outside of supporting him. So I think I think literally their relationship just kind of evolved to a point where like, yeah, yes, yes, I put you here so I can have this political power. But also now that you're here, you're not that bad.
SPEAKER_11And look a little better now that I groomed you up to why I need you.
SPEAKER_03I groomed you into a position of power, so now I guess I guess I'll go ahead and keep keep you around.
SPEAKER_11So now the next question I have is um where do y'all think season two is gonna go? Like, where do you go with you? Is it gonna happen? Because Netflix, like, apparently got one of the things that we're gonna do.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, they've already been renewed in season two.
SPEAKER_11I also like to point out the Dragon Prince has also been renewed. It's like what, fourth, third, fourth season? Third fourth season? Yeah, it was renewed like a year ago, so it was still waiting on that. So, you know.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, for real.
SPEAKER_11Yeah, yeah, you can you can re-I mean I don't mind. I love the series. Yeah, the series is great. I just don't know if it's coming back. Um, so we're gonna look at arcade the same way now. Like, where was season, where would season two go and how how many decades do y'all wait for it?
SPEAKER_03I'm gonna move in the mindset that we're not getting a season two, but like based on how season one ended, if that was the end of the story, I'd be perfectly satisfied because I love endings that don't necessarily give you a nice kind of bowl at the end or even some sort of like resolution. Sometimes things just go to shit and there's not a lot that people can do about it.
SPEAKER_11I think my my my thing with that was I would love to see where that shit went. Right. I would love to see how that went afterwards.
SPEAKER_08I I um I mean, especially hearing from you know league players, you know, especially with all the characters there there are within the game, I feel like if they ended it here, it would be a it would be a disservice to to new to new people who are who are into our you know the whole arcane league of legends series, like they they're literally that would literally be stupid because it I mean if you looked at the ratings on like Rotten Tomatoes there, like the shit was a hundred percent, like a hundred percent like Arcane got a lot of awards too. Yeah, yeah, I think so many accolades, so it would be just stupid to not bring it back.
SPEAKER_02Agreed, and also Netflix does it. Arcane does not need uh net Netflix was blessed with Arcane, right?
SPEAKER_04Arcane, right?
SPEAKER_02Can literally afford to make their own animation studio if some reason a Hulu or Amazon or Apple TV or whoever or Disney does not actually don't fuck with Disney, but uh they they can they can put this shit out and and really and really what Arcane told them, especially with the breath of characters and the way they told the story. Uh I'm I'm I am I'm relatively sure that a season two is primarily gonna be another week in OC. So I so I don't think we're tying a bow, a neat bow on anything that happened here. I think like okay, y'all got the story of Piltover. Now, now we gotta show you uh the you know where Ash is from.
SPEAKER_11Well Yorn or the fucking we gotta show you Noxious, or we gotta show you uh the void, whatever like there's so many areas in golf.
SPEAKER_02The world is is uh is absurd from these little like like paragraphs from 150 characters adds up. That's a buck now. So now we got all these tidbits, it's uh it's it's way too much to draw from. And and uh and I'm and uh like we almost have to go somewhere else. And honestly, uh uh from the cut the the conversations, even from the conversations Mel and our mom was have, I was like, okay, maybe maybe we're going over there. Because they already were setting up their uh their situation and the war they're already in. And mama and mama came over there for backup, right?
SPEAKER_09So I wasn't across, I was thinking we were either going there and then like Heim Digger might take echo to he where he's from. Like, so that's where my my mind was kind of going with it. Um I I hope Netflix does bring back season two within a uh, you know, a nice time frame because it did get renewed for season two. But yeah, I I want to go to a different world. I I know we're probably not finished with Hiltover because of the way, you know, the bomb went off. So yeah, you gotta figure out what's left after the rubble. But I definitely would like to see where Mel's from. Let's go over to Hondig because Hondigar's Island, I can't remember where it's called Bandle City. Like they have some really good characters just out of the game that I personally am curious to see.
SPEAKER_11They got a squirrel that's an assassin that can take all the armor.
SPEAKER_03Like really fast, I wanted to like so Arcane, so I the Arcane won nine different Annie Award categories. They got best TV media, best effects, best character animation, best character design, best direction, best product design, best storyboarding, best voice acting, and best writing.
SPEAKER_08Right, like bitch.
SPEAKER_09Right. So Netflix is gonna not fuck up. Alright. And y'all better bring it back. Otherwise, we'll do an Amazon Prime, take it.
SPEAKER_10But they are slob it at the jaw right there. How dare you?
SPEAKER_09Yeah, like Netflix. You thought you lost people now and you'll stop plummeting before? Oh.
SPEAKER_11I just like to point this out too. Um, that we watch one region. There's 12 other regions of League of Legends that have not been touched yet. 12. There's 13 altogether, including Pilto. Somebody go get that.
SPEAKER_03Somebody. Mind you, they they swept nine categories with five of their what? Like nine, nine episodes. Yeah.
SPEAKER_09Yeah.
SPEAKER_02But you could do with ten million dollars an episode. That's real life money.
SPEAKER_03And the two episodes that swept the most categories were episode nine and episode six.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, and also um, look at how many um new followers of League of Legends because uh came out of Arcane. Like, um I remember hearing my nephew, like, oh my god, I'm playing like League of Legends. I'm like, what the fuck? And like, you know, and now it's like a cool thing where before I would hear of League of Legends, but I didn't really hear a lot of people like talking about how amazing it was.
SPEAKER_00They hated it. Yeah, so here's the thing about the game.
SPEAKER_11Everybody, everybody came to League of Legends after arcade. Y'all fucked yourself. Y'all, y'all were lied to. It's not just a show.
SPEAKER_08I don't know any league players who love the game.
SPEAKER_07Wow, I do. I mean, I know a lot of people.
SPEAKER_02They all love the game, and that's why they mad.
SPEAKER_10Yeah, it's like an image relationship.
SPEAKER_11It's like drug, it's like it's like crackheads love coke. It's like crackheads love coke, but they hate to have it. Like, it's just like man, I wish I could get away from this, but I can't. Like, I really want to stop, but I can't pull myself away. It shouldn't be better to stop like.
SPEAKER_03I was like, oh, this is not what I was expecting to be.
SPEAKER_11I played this game, I think I played this game for like six, six years before I stopped. Yeah, I played it.
SPEAKER_02I hate it all six weeks. I played like eight years. I played since beta, and the only reason I stopped is because lightning hit my hit my computer through my That was God.
SPEAKER_11That was God.
SPEAKER_02And I couldn't I couldn't afford uh a new gaming computer for two years. So yeah, yeah, and and and I wouldn't, and and the worst and the worst thing about legends is bad. And so I just refused to go back. That's real. And I'm like, oh, oh, oh, not like riding a bike at all.
SPEAKER_11I remember at one point when my daughter was born, I was still playing League of Legends. She would fall asleep, she can fall asleep in noise now, she will fall asleep and be screaming together completely. I hated this game.
SPEAKER_10So goddamn.
SPEAKER_11That's how it's religious.
SPEAKER_02To be clear, the the game is the game is great. It's the people. It's the people, yeah.
SPEAKER_11You and the sad truth is you have to play with other people. Like you can't just play, there's no single player. It's like actually there is when you play with Randall's. It's you against nine other people, four of which are your teammates. And sometimes yourself. I'm about to say, it's not just them. You hate them and you hate who you become. You hate who you become. Sometimes you will play it against yourself. It's really bad. Like, it's one of the most toxic things I've ever put in my life. I swear, I hated it. I hated to love this game at the same time. It only pulled it away, only pulled me away because I started working religiously, and like I had another game that was just like it, but wasn't as good. It just pulled me away for a minute, and when I tried to go back, I had no idea what the fuck was going on. So I said, nope, not for me, and I stopped. I went and played really good.
SPEAKER_03Just said, I'm gonna need to put that down for a channel. Yeah.
SPEAKER_11Not really. Like, I went back to that game. I think I went back to that game. I played alright, got cussed out by a bunch of people, played the next game really bad on purpose, and then left laughing. I was like, I was by the time I finished two games, I really didn't know who I was anymore. Or I'm gonna say, I forgot who I was and saw who I became. It was like, I like this person more, I'ma stick here.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, I unfortunately, um, well, I'm not I'm not a real PC gamer anyway, but I never started playing it. Uh it was way late, it was way later when I I did, you know, kind of think about playing it, but it was so many people already just like don't do it. Like the character, the character designs are amazing, which your cosplay arsenal would be massive. Yeah, they said because of the gameplay, it would suck a lot of the times because you can't see your character for like I guess the point of the POV of the gameplay, you can't even see your character for real.
SPEAKER_11You you can cop you can close zoom in and see him, but it's like if you take the chance to zoom in and see your character, most likely fuck some shit up. Somebody fucking put shit up, or your team is off the team fight, now you get cussed out by your teammates. What the fuck is this bunch of doing? Next thing you know, you cussing out people, you like no, or you fight somebody in the streets or another state.
SPEAKER_09Like it's just like league, and this is the other one that was kind of like yeah, league is all all the mobile uh No no no, the other one that I stopped playing that did go to the system Snight. Okay, between those two, the reason why I stopped playing is because I can't stand when people just be like, oh, disconnect. Like bitch, what the fuck?
SPEAKER_10This is what the fuck. I saw another side of her when she tried to play League of Legends. It was one of the funniest things I ever seen, but then I felt bad. I was like, what did I just do to my queen?
SPEAKER_03I'm not even gonna lie, like when when C She got me to play an Overwatch, like it was it was cute at first, and then I got I got I got better and I became competent at playing the game. I will absolutely leave a match if I I'm like this is a waste of my time. I'm not just a match I try not to do it too many times because then they'll give you like a notice of oh you keep abandoning the match and blah blah blah. I'm like so and and it and when you play support when you have to heal motherfuckers.
SPEAKER_09Yeah. Oh no, I wasn't playing support. I'm playing.
SPEAKER_03I I religiously play support, I religiously play support.
SPEAKER_09I'm a little bit.
SPEAKER_11Come on, Dr. Quizelle, run down the middle. I'm like Dr. Quizelle, run down the middle, commit suicide, just a team off.
SPEAKER_10Okay, when everybody was losing their shit, they were playing and they were losing. Sure, I got fast. She quit. And walked away. Like felt like she had done something.
SPEAKER_11Like I was like, man, okay, yeah, we can't you can't play this no more. Like this game isn't for you.
SPEAKER_03I'm a slight mix of both of you. Like, I'll either leave, and if I can't leave, because I don't feel like getting that stupid notice about having left too much, I'll just sit there and throw, I'll like throw a healing orb and let the physics of the physics of the game do what it needs to do. If you get healed, good job. If not, but I'm I'm gonna stay back here. I'm not gonna keep dying for y'all.
SPEAKER_09My favorite character in league was Annie. She used to walk around with a bear, a stuffed bear that can turn into a real bear and fuck you up. Oh.
SPEAKER_11Like Annie is the equivalent of Carrie. Annie is the equivalent of Carrie. But it was like, like the amount of characters, different shit they got going on.
SPEAKER_03But basically we're just saying that Annie wasn't okay. She wasn't okay.
SPEAKER_11She was not at all. Like it's like there's such a range. Like, I I look forward to the later seasons because there's such a range of characters. They got they got different creatures that are characters, they got undeads, they got spirits, they got like like that. They got spirit hunters. Like it was like it was a lot, like it's a lot of different stuff that they they can do. A lot, they got Egyptian characters in this game. Like they got Egyptian characters.
SPEAKER_02Is my nigga out of all these these fake ass and nubices across media?
SPEAKER_05Yeah, exactly.
SPEAKER_11Yeah, Lassus is that dude. Like, it's just not it fuck with Lassus. Like it was like, like it was like they got so much, so many different themes and stuff just off of the region. Like this show could at any point switch up and become an Egyptian show because they went to a different area. Or it could become a futuristic show because they went to a different area, or it could become a furry's paradise because they went to fix. It's wild what this show can do. The boy can make this a thriller slash horror show. Like every season can be a different type, different theme, or different, like different things shows up, a different hashtag, so to speak. So it it's fun to look forward to uh what they have in store for the show.
SPEAKER_02I've I have a strong feeling for Damascus. Like if anybody has main, if there's if they if there are main characters in the show, most of them are from there. Um especially in and what's what's the place Damascus be fighting? Noxus. Yeah, yeah, Demasian Noxus. I think that'll be the next duel, except it'll be literally two different places versus uh upper city and an under city. I I I think that's a high chance of being the next area of focus. Yeah, exactly. Or or Ionia, that's next. That's probably next, like right under the street.
SPEAKER_07I can probably see all three of them being tied together because I would love, and I know this would I would this would probably have to be like far into the future with a lot, I mean millions upon millions of dollars. But if they could find the right actors, if they can um collaborate with the team, um, the artistic team of Arcane and make like a live action. Um I'm weird about live actions. I feel like sometimes they should be action. Hear me, hear me out, hear me out. Let our girl let you let our girls see it right there. The reason why we hate live action is because it's very rare that anyone ever brings it to partition, and that's really what it is. Like, we want to see people, we want to see ourselves, we want to see like little black girls and boys, or you know, like we want to see ourselves in in like a lot of the media that we watch. And it's wonderful seeing it in art, but I would love to see live actions of black people in sci-fi because we don't even have we don't even have much of that. So if they were able to find the right actors, have the the amazing amount, like this millions of dollars to work with, and they can be able to collaborate with the artistic team of Arc Scene, it could be a beautiful show.
SPEAKER_11I have a counterfeit because I as you say that, I'm like, is it that they we don't see ourselves in it, or is that they don't do live actions right, even when we do live.
SPEAKER_07It's both. Like, we we don't see ourselves in it because they don't they don't do live actions right.
SPEAKER_03I so I don't want a live action, and that's partly because I think that an impulse to want live action things because some of a lot of the reasons that you mentioned, but I also don't like live action because it's very clear that live action has its limitations. And I think that gets that doesn't get acknowledged enough, and people will go out there go out on a limb to complain about CGI and stuff like that, but we need CGI and shit like and practical effects and shit like that because live action has so many limitations. Like we need computer-generated things because I mean let's face it, we but regardless of whether it's Doctor Strange or whether not whether it's uh Michelle Young and everything everywhere all at once, like the the way we see like the multiverse isn't gonna look realistic in any way. One, because it's for all intents and purposes, it's not. So it's gonna, it's gonna it's gonna look, it's gonna look, it's gonna look weird because we don't see our actual reality happen in this way. And if you do, you might be high. But and that's a strong word on my, but like, I think the thing that what I think the thing that is what makes animation so valuable as a medium because it helps us extend beyond those very real limitations that we have when it comes to like human physical like capabilities. Like we can make people look like they're flying, it won't look perfect, but if you animate someone looking like they're flying, then that's perfectly okay. Like animated animated human beings can do stunts that regular human beings can't do because it's not really that physics, the physics doesn't apply to them in the same way it applies to us. And so I think that keeping more animated mediums is a in my opinion, a better way of approaching a lot of different kinds of fiction that have super fantastical elements that would require, you know, that super fantastical elements that wouldn't translate. That's what I'm trying to say, that wouldn't translate well into live action.
SPEAKER_07I agree with half of what you're saying. I feel like it's just American, I would say American cinema is the issue. Because when you go cross over to Asia, they do some amazing shit and it's live action. Um and you know, of course, some things are kind of like, but you you you you really see some all the things you're saying, you can see people flying in the sky with Asian directors, with Asian, I would say, like direction with their cinematography. And I think it's just American cinematography is just very limited because they don't like to go out of the box. Whereas they were doing like crouching tiger, head and dragon, fucking like a classic. You know, your work?
SPEAKER_03Girl.
SPEAKER_07That's what I'm saying. So you can you can you can do it. I think what it is is the creativity and to be able to go out of the box. Yeah, King She was was genius to me. And uh then that is merging Asian directors, well, I guess Asian cinematography with American cinema. And I think that if it was purely American cinematic cinema, it would have flopped horrendously. But you have to want teamwork from all walks of life because if not, then you have CGI that looks like trash, and that is the issue with American cinematography, they just do not like to branch out. Whereas um, even like with Chinese directors when it comes to like CGI, I I think I saw Neja on Netflix, and I was like, what is this? Their 3D elements to me was mind-blowing, and it's not that the US can't do that, they have the technology, they just don't think outside the box. We should be every single CGI, every single 3D cartoon should be on the on par with Chinese or Asian cinema that we just don't want to do. I don't know why, because we definitely have the tool to do so, but it's not like we're not able to do it. It's just really about the direction and want to think outside the box and trying to collaborate with different minds. And then I think you can have a masterpiece.
SPEAKER_08And also like cost. Yeah, I'm about to say it's really about money. And it's about money and then like the industry itself, because they the the industry, like I watched a documentary on just how just how women trying to work in in the in the film industry industry, even now, is just like a struggle. So like it's it's this you want, like you said, the willingness to work with other people, um, and and pull from you know, pull creativity and and skill sets from other people outside of the US or shit in the US. Like, like um also money, like Americans are greedy. Like, if they're not being paid, like these American actors, if they're not being paid a certain amount of money to appear in this set and do like it's gonna cost you an extra half a mil for to get me on a wire, bitch. Like, so it's it's what it's it's just like I don't know, it's it's the money and the industry itself, it just it's just hard for us to to do things like for a for the for the passion and the creativity and and just the look of it all versus how much money is this gonna make me in the box office and you know who's willing to do what for what cause.
SPEAKER_03For a dollar, I might have for a couple dollars.
SPEAKER_11That might have a little bit to do with analytics in terms of how America does a lot of their stuff on analytics, like they don't necessarily like to step outside the boxes like well, numbers show that you'll the you know 50% of people like this or da-da-da-da. And then they look at how other shows are doing, like arcane for the most part, is surprised, especially when it's you got Netflix, 3D art, and a story that nobody really knows. We've seen this before. Like, you know, so it's like the fact that it worked out well, um, is kind of shocking to a lot of people.
SPEAKER_03And I think that part, I sorry to interrupt you, I guess, but that like that flicked a thought in my mind. Like, that's like that's one of those things that's really like multi-layered because Netflix is very unique in so far as like it's a streaming platform, more so than just like any other thing that we find on regular TV. Like it has a lot more freedom to do literally whatever it wants to because it's not bound by the same kind of like visual guidelines, or kind of like you know, the same uh uh guidelines in terms of like the things that they quote unquote televise that show that made networks, the shows that are on like major networks, too. So they can talk, they can be heavy-handed in different areas if they want to, they can talk or animate or say whatever they want to because they're a streaming service on the internet, they're not on a major network, they don't have to go to like uh a network studio and be bound by like the essence of what you can and can't put on TV because they they have more freedom, which is, I think, also a part of like a larger conversation as to why Arcane was able to be as um successful as it was, because it would be a lot more difficult to get a show like Arcane onto like an MTV or even onto a cartoon network or a Nickelodeon or a Disney channel, whatever, you know, whatever network without it having gone through like this very intense gutting process to the point where we don't even get the same thing that it originally was. Like you can see a lot of stuff like that happened with things like Adventure Time, with Owlhouse, with Steven Universe, like a lot of those shows went through so much redesign, rewriting. It goes, it had all of those shows went through so much before we could actually before we could get to the final product that we ended up getting. And a lot of the times when we go, when we go back and see what things were before they got onto those major networks, we're like, well, we would actually would have preferred this. Like this would have been way cooler than what we actually got. Like we enjoyed what we got, and we're glad what we got was you know really successful. But it's like if you had it's like having a sandwich with all these amazing ingredients, and you want to put on put it on a plate, but in order to put on this special plate that would make it like get it to a lot of people, you have to take all this different stuff off. And by the end of time, you get the same sandwich. It was a weird metaphor actually there.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, but with all the few dollars just down here, it's I was gonna say a similar thing, pretty much like the you you gonna get you're gonna get the same budget from wherever your your money is, regardless. And in make in in for enforcing something into live action just run. That is so much more and that and this is like and making a live action makes it look worse. Arcane looks better than real life already.
SPEAKER_04Sorry, real life is ghetto.
SPEAKER_03I've been waiting for suffocation powers for 30 years, I still ain't got them.
SPEAKER_11Also, so another question I have is um I'll make this my last question. But uh in terms of going live action, does that also a lot of people seem like they have a problem with disbanding beliefs when it comes to shows like they have the premise of a of a arc cane or of a um what I just watched was uh legend of Fox. But um, like it's like seeing those as a live action. A lot of audience remember, especially when it comes to Americans, seems like they have a problem with disbanding belief unless they have to be the story. Uh sorcery or if or unless it's heavily age-the-like when we talk about with contact and dragon and more specifically um Chad G and uh you know, Ted B. They they they were more understanding, it seems like America's more understanding of it when it's Star Wars. Or Star Wars. When it's more, when it's either in outer space, it balls a lot of magic, or it's so could so with arcane being the type of story that it is, can you really see Americans accepting that as vibe actually?
SPEAKER_07If it's more fantastical, they're more forgiving. Um but hey, we're gonna ride that motherfucking wave because it is fantastical, it is sci-fi, it ain't it on earth. So, you know, I'm saying, hey, why not? I don't see any any issue with that. Um, and I think Arcane reminded me of Mass Effect, which reminded me of Far C. And um, that was very diverse. Um, it had a lot of I would say uh sci-fi elements, mystical elements, but also a very diverse cast, um, where you had different species. Um, it's more so are they ready to commit with the research? Are they ready to listen to the fans? And a lot of that is is really where it lies. Sometimes they just don't want to listen to the fans. Uh they have to listen to fans like how they listen to the Sonic fans when they're when they fucked up with Sonic's design and fans was talking shit.
SPEAKER_04I mean, listen to bully, man. They did it. They did though.
SPEAKER_08But I'm so glad they they they did listen because Lord have mercy.
SPEAKER_03Listen, a good dragon will get you a lot of places. I'm not gonna flex.
SPEAKER_08They did, they put it in the name of this movie on Disney.
SPEAKER_03But Disney, but like by calling it Ugly Sonic, they have they basically made a whole new character and it qualifies as parody or satire, so they can't get sued for it. They didn't need to get the mention.
SPEAKER_07It's uh they're not ready. Uh, unfortunately, it's 2022 and they're still not ready for a diverse cast. I mean, you see how the star the Star Wars um fans, I always find them to be hilarious as shit. Because Star Star Trek, I don't know. I don't Gwen, was it you that posted that Star? I think it was it was I somebody that I know they posted something on Facebook that I think it was Anita Star Wars Star Wars. Um, they have uh a lot of uh fans, but they do not like diversity. Star Trek has a lot of diversity, but they're both basically space shows that are about discovery, and it's very true. I you know, and I you saw there was a black actress um who was getting a lot of flack because she was black and she was in Star Wars, and anytime, even with um John Boyega had uh, you know, how they basically try to use him as a uh a dark horse, not a dark horse, a Trojan horse, for having black people to go to see Star Wars, and that nigga was barely in the fucking movie. So, like they they just have an issue with including black people and people of color um in these mass productions, and Arkane would need the a Star Wars or Star Trek budget um to do it the right way without having to be like an Asian film, so to speak. And with that, I don't know if America wants it, but I feel like old America is not ready for it, and I don't I don't know if I hope my hope is that we will be ready for that. I think Arcane is kind of like breaking it so that we want to see new shit, but I feel like there's just so it's so militant, not militant, that's the wrong word. It's just oddly racist, racist and conservative with the ideologies of media.
SPEAKER_09They don't want change, they want it the way they've been seeing it for eons.
SPEAKER_03I I do want to like circle back to the question that um Mark was asking. Like, I think my answer is similar to Siones, but I also think that something that is really uncomfortable to acknowledge is that so many nerds and so many people in these like fandoms think themselves to be very logical and reasonable. And I think that trying to be quote unquote logical or reasonable when it comes to things that are clearly fictional um is that uh it creates this kind of dissonance between like having something live action. It's like, oh, this doesn't make sense. Of course it doesn't make sense, it's not fucking real. You realize this is fictional. This this is very like there's a difference between a m like for for example, a magic system not making sense when there are rules set up for that magic system. Like that, like when there are certain kinds of rules set up, of course, you know, it's okay to critique when those things, when something happens that doesn't make sense in the gram of that overall storytelling of like that system or whatever, right? You set up a system and you set up rules, it's okay to uh to be like, hey, this doesn't make sense in the context of what you have set up in this world, right? And how you like told whatever story, but it doesn't make sense to be like, oh yeah, no, there it doesn't make sense that this woman of this weight uh would not be able to do this thing, or like, oh, that mermaids can't be black. Mermaids aren't real friends. Um like it's not you it's not a push for it's not uh uh diversity and inclusion like propaganda to have black people in space when you have literal frog people walking around next to you. Like there there's no there is no area in which certain arguments or certain perspectives, in my opinion, are valid. And I have to say, in my opinion, because to satisfy everyone else, I will speak factually if I need to, but uh trying to I try I'm trying to be less matter-of-fact with.
SPEAKER_11But um, fuck all that. Star Wars fans got issues, but I'm a Star Wars. They do. They do, but Star Wars fans got bad issues.
SPEAKER_03But nonetheless, right, like they're like it is so I think the I think that's one of the core issues that I'm not the singular one, but like it's one of them that so many people in these fandoms think themselves to be intellectual and logical and reasonable, but they're they're not. They're just tied, they're just emotionally tied to a particular franchise, which is okay, but it's important to remember that there's uh there's a there's a very thick veil of reality separating you and this thing. And I think a lot of that ends up getting like becoming very disproportionate with the stories being told in the world itself versus the what is act the things that are actually there in the world. If that makes sense.
SPEAKER_02I mean you gotta say black people are there versus the stories being told about the black people that are there. You you gotta you gotta fix the fuck up goggles that they view an actual reality in before we can even approach just golf.
SPEAKER_03That's also extremely true.
SPEAKER_02They can't even get real life straight.
SPEAKER_03Exactly. That's okay because I'm not straight in real life.
SPEAKER_07But going back to Arcane, um, and you know what the original original thought process is was that you know, I I think we all would love to see um even even deep down, we'd love to see like live action done right. Um, we just know that because we're just so disappointed of how they do live action in general, it might be impossible to see it anytime soon. But I feel like we we are moving forward. Um, we're getting closer to live action making sense. Um a lot of but a lot of it does have to go uh boils down to money, of course, um, but also uh people coming together um and the lack of greed. And then you'll have a brilliant uh masterpiece. Um like if people can come together and make arcane, I know that they have the ability to come together to make a live action with all walks of life, with every with us in there, and to make us look beautiful and regal, just like like we saw in Arcane. Like it was so um, it was so breathtaking to see Mel. Um, it was it was so breathtaking to see a woman of power that was the richest person, not woman, the richest individual in Piltover. That was that was big for me. And I know that was big for all of us because just to hear that, they reminded you too, yeah. This bitch rich. She she she won't buy all the ones. You know what I'm saying? Like that that was that's one of y'all there's more people around with your broke ass. Um, and you know, she wasn't she wasn't a dick either. She wasn't like a bitch or a raging asshole, she was a beautiful woman of status. Yeah, she used niggas, but hey, niggas with money got use niggas use niggas all the time. But I mean, she was a beautiful black woman with power, with with um who was intelligent, who who basically um had tilt over, you know, she she she ran that shit. And we don't see much of that. We don't see much of that in TV shows, we don't see much of that in cartoons, we don't see much of that in general at all, um, in cinema at all.
SPEAKER_03You need to appreciate like how every every woman in this in this show held her own plot-wise. Like there was at no point did they feel the need to unnecessarily traumatize her with something like uh like sexual assault or some shit like that for sexual development. They didn't need to have her be like an ab like a physically abused, like young girl or anything like that. They didn't feel the need to like have them constantly rely on men or some shit like that. Like they were all extremely independent characters, and I love I love that for women.
SPEAKER_11That that also I also like how they don't, there's no such thing as a villain in this show, I feel like. Because even when you look at Silco, Silco was doing what he thought was good for his people. Like it's kind of like saying the road to evil is paved in good intentions type thing. And they they they really exemplify that very well. Even even when it came down to Silco, yeah, Silco used Jinx, but Silco also loved Jax. Like Silco always tried to keep Jinx out of a situation where it was gonna be, where it was gonna put her in danger to the point where she couldn't handle it.
SPEAKER_03And he never forced her to do anything that he legitimately think that she couldn't do.
SPEAKER_11Yeah, so I like I did, I like the way they just they flip a lot of things on the head in this channel, dog. It was a very enjoyable watch. So let everybody go. We'll start with Sayonna.
