Welcome back everyone to the Blurred Spectrum Podcast. Thank you for joining us today. We have actually a special uh series that we're going to begin. Uh, the panelist chronicles. Uh, the uh the the penitentiary no, I shouldn't say penitentiary, that's probably not a good word to use. Uh, the litany of linguistics regarding our no, not gonna go there either. Basically, we're gonna reintroduce our panelists. We're gonna give you an opportunity to dive a little bit deeper into their past, although we've really pretty much been baring our souls on these episodes. Uh, but we're gonna do a little bit more of a uh formalized interview process for each of our individual panelists. And of course, we had to start uh with our cosplay uh savant, our uh uh lady of the uh uh cosplay night, uh the the the cosplayer that always gets you going if you see her at BlurCon or Odacon. That is the lovely, the luscious, the volumptuous Sione cosplay. How's that? How's that? Is that everyone?
SPEAKER_02It was a lot. It was a lot.
SPEAKER_00But so of course, I am your moderator, uh, your uh fictitious blurred spectrum head of the table. Um, I'm here to give these questions and give her the opportunity just to tell a little bit more about herself. Uh, she has plenty of fans and followers, uh uh engrossing many platforms, uh countries, uh religious beliefs, and and everywhere across the globe. So uh let's let's let's give her the opportunity, let's give Miss Sayane Cosplay the opportunity to give a little bit more about herself. So uh of course we have to start with the most simplest of uh questions, which is who is Sayone Cosplay? Where did this name come from? What is Sayone?
SPEAKER_02Who is Sayone Cosplay? Sayone Cosplay, her origin stories is a Maryland blurred that has always been into the macabre, anime, gore, science fiction at a very young, early age of her life. And anything that was eclectic and different and unique, um, you know, she always gravitated to always gravitated to the arts, uh, always gravitated to dance. Um, and that kind of transpired into using artistic talents. That's so weird me saying talents, because y'all know my imposter syndrome. But because I can I could speak about Saturday cosplay uh in a third person.
SPEAKER_00Third person, yeah. But that's her, that ain't me.
SPEAKER_02Um but yeah, so uh speaking in the first in first person, I've always loved Halloween. Halloween is the only holiday I actually enjoy because the only holiday in my mind where it is not stressful. I cannot stand Christmas, it has nothing to do with the religious aspect of it.
SPEAKER_00Mariah Carey, isn't it?
SPEAKER_02It is you know, Mariah Carey is actually the comic relief out of Christmas, so I don't mind that. That is just hilarious. Um, but it's definitely the the consumerism. I can't stand any of it, and the pressure of buying gifts for adults is ridiculous to me. For adults to demand gifts on Christmas, demand, demand. Um, and it's just more so there's just so much stress. Whereas Halloween, it is fun loving, it is different ages, walks of life coming together to just portray themselves in a different light. They can walk away for a moment in time to be somebody else, to invoke somebody else for fun. For candy.
SPEAKER_03Like put a little candy.
SPEAKER_00That's true.
SPEAKER_02I mean, we can't.
SPEAKER_00No, I was gonna say, so is that where Syonna was born? Like your first Halloween or an early Halloween?
SPEAKER_02Sione was definitely born my, I would say in my 20s.
SPEAKER_00Okay.
SPEAKER_02I could I could say as a child, but it was more so let's dress up, an excuse to dress up and get candy. But to actually start utilizing my artistry, I would definitely say my early 20s. When I was really into Greek mythology and mythology in general, and trying to make characters my own. I think my first one that I took seriously was Goddess Nyx. And this is before I actually read Lore Olympus, but I love anything to do with the stars, I love anything to do with the sky. I love night. For me, nighttime is when I am have more energy, so to speak. I I I I love the nighttime because it's cool, it's serene, you know, the harsh UV lights of the day is not my thing, but I love cool weather. And I was really interested about in uh, you know, invoking the goddess Nyx. And I remember that I did some research and and I did my own version of her. So I think that really started in my early 20s. And when I first went to Odacon, um, I was I was just blown away. My introduction to Oticon was actually by accident seeing all these three anime characters. This was in 2012. I was 22 at the time, and just walking in the street, I'm seeing Sailor Moon, I'm seeing Naruto characters, I'm seeing Bleach characters, and I lost I lost my damn mind.
SPEAKER_01I'm like, wow, what is that?
SPEAKER_02And a person I was dating at the time was like, Oh, that's what I'm saying, and I was like, How could you say this so nonchalant to me? Knowing how I love all of this, and that I would say that wasn't the first time I started cosplaying was in 2013. Um, really know like what is cosplaying? What is that? Costume play. Oh, that's so cool. There's a whole entire genre of this that I didn't know about. And at the time I was introduced to Yaya Han, not personally, but on the internet, I'm like, wow, this is the goddess Yaya. I wish. I wish, but I was just blown away and just seeing somebody who is able to create by hand all of these movie effect type of props. I'm like, wow, in my mind, I'm thinking you have to have somebody or a machine create this.
SPEAKER_00Develop it, right?
SPEAKER_02Right. You're actually having somebody by hand craft it and utilizing geometry and not hot glue, um, which is amazing to me. And uh, but yeah, Sayone to give me, give you the root name of Sayone, since I'm going in a circle about how I am going in a circle, yes. But um, Sayone uh is my first name, which is Shine, and my uh Sayo is Sayo, my middle name, which is Olua Shayo for me. So I I broke that in half with Shine. So Sayo and then Ne. So Shine, Olua Shayo for me, Sayo Ne. And it was cute, two syllables. Yeah, yes, Sayo, Sayo, ne. That's three syllables. I can count, I can count in school. Sayone. Three syllables. And it really stuck, it really stuck. So um I'm grateful that people are able to see me at cons and say say my cosplay name, which is very strange and surreal. Uh, because a lot of times I feel like people don't know me and they're like, Sayone. I I literally want to start falling in tears.
SPEAKER_00I've seen.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, it's just really emotional and and and it still gets me till this day going to a con and are you excited? I'm like, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Everybody's crying.
SPEAKER_02Just even thinking about it makes me, you know, and I'm not an emotional person, definitely, you know, brings uh a sense of tear, tears of joy.
SPEAKER_00Oh, I mean, that's that I mean, like I said, I've I've been present with you at uh several conventions at this point, and really witnessing. I mean, I say it to you all the time, we can we can pull up the records on a previous podcast episode. I've said you're a celebrity, I've said you are uh famous, I've said as you shake your head, no. I've said I've said that you you well, let me say it like this: you have celebrity. Uh so you may not if you don't want to call yourself a celebrity, you have celebrity, which is being able to be noticed and be able to be someone to be excited about your existence in a more in a reverential way. Um, which you've done to a many people, including our Miss Skittles, um and and other cosplayers, because of their skill, because of their talent, because of their capabilities that they put on display every time they, you know, post or step out into a con. And um the, you know, I've said many times, and I'm not this isn't to, you know, make your hair any more brilliant and glow your head up, but your skill, your passion and your capabilities when you put your mind to not not even creating a character, but embodying a character. And I I likened it to what actors do when they say they want to, especially if they're doing a biopic, they want to live in the skin of the character so they can bring forth the best representation of who they're portraying. That's what I see like that's in my opinion, what you do when you cosplay, specifically Sion and cosplay, is you do your research, you you know, you break down whether you use body paint or you don't, you break down the different stages, the different steps, the different ideas. Like when you did the um, and I always get the the proper wording wrong, but when you did the um uh likeness of a real angel, uh, I believe that was during you know the uh pandemic times. You posted that one and everybody lost their minds. But it because and the the crazy part is for those who don't know, they're like, oh, this is beautiful. But then for those who do know, they instantly knew what you were portraying. And I think that's why it's similar to an actor. When an actor is, you know, wins an Oscar, it's because of the amount of emotion and passion and realness they bring to a character. And when you can post an image of the skill that you've brought into this character, into this pre creation, uh creation likeness, there it is, the likeness of a character, and people either instantly know what it is, or even even if they're not a part of that world, they're like, I have to respect and bring some sort of reverence to what you've created. That's why I say you have celebrity, not because of the glitz and the glamour and everything else. It's because of the amount of work and and blood, sweat, because we know you've you've burnt yourself, we we know you've cut yourself trying to get these things together. Um, and we know you've cried because I remember you told me about that that Persephone day. So the the amount the amount of work that you put into it. I mean, I don't have any flowers with me, but I'm next time I see you, I'm gonna have to give you some flowers because of just the amount of skill that you put into it. Um, you know, again, that's not what this particular episode was supposed to be about, but I want to make sure I said that if I haven't already said it, which I have, but I'm gonna say it again. You are phenomenal. 100%.
SPEAKER_02I appreciate you so much. And um I, you know, I we I know you and I have had conversations about uh my confidence level and how I will always battle with myself mentally, about my craft and um me struggling to have favorites, and and if it is a favorite, it has to be damn good for me to be like those ones. And it shouldn't have to be that way, but um like for instance the Red Queen, um the that to me is just it came out better than I expected.
SPEAKER_00And it's very rare that things are like oh and that was dropping jaws, dropping jaws as you walk through the place.
SPEAKER_02It's just annoying because I do the best work when it's not conceived, and that's the funniest thing. I'm like, damn, this is a good con it's funny. Actually, I did not, did I throw that one away? I didn't throw it away. That's actually I usually always deconstruct a lot of my costumes. This is the one costume I did not deconstruct. I still have the wig. I think I might have deconstructed the headpiece. I might have not. I think that's the only one. I even have the staff still. Like those, I still keep those. Um, I actually had an offer um to email one of my pieces for like a like an art runway show presentation, but never got a chance to get a hold of never got a chance to do that. But it was really nice that people are noticing uh certain things that in my mind I'm just I have no plan. I might have an image in my head, and then even when I have this image, I build on it. Right. It's I'm not a rough draft person, I'm a final draft person, and the final draft becomes final draft one, two, three, four until I'm like, I am done. Yeah, I'm done, done.
SPEAKER_00That's like I remember early on when I got the the the pleasure of being able to interact with you on a more consistent basis through the podcast, I remember saying, I I we we should we should create a museum of all of your different cosplays. And that's that's when you first told us, or told me at least, I was first privy to the knowledge that you deconstruct a lot of your different pieces. So even if we somehow convinced you to potentially put yourself in, put your your your cosplays in a place that people could look at them in the future, most of the stuff has already been turned into something else. And I think that even once again, in and of itself, is something that most I don't think most people can really grasp how amazing that is. Because you're you're literally talking about morphing a and I I don't know any of the actual transitional ones, but morphing uh any particular character into a completely different one. Whether you're taking the flowers from a tiara and then putting it into a gele, or you're taking a staff, breaking it in two, and putting it into wings. Like, I don't know what you did. I'm just making stuff up, but yeah, yeah, kind of like that.
SPEAKER_02Very um brand, actually.
unknownVery um brand.
SPEAKER_02Like, yeah, actually, yeah, I do.
SPEAKER_00Like, I can't, I can't even the idea of the not even the idea, the the like you said, it's not a draft. It's a well, it's not a rough draft, it's a final draft. So that means it's almost like you you knew, hey, I'm going to do what did I call her? Uh hexa hexalificent. There it is. Hexalificent. I'm gonna do that at Blurricon. And for me to do that, before I start to buy additional props, I'm gonna take this piece from that, that piece from this, whatever is left on that one, add a little bit of that, then I'm gonna add this, this, this, this, and this, and I'm gonna put it together. And then final draft becomes final draft becomes the day of becomes a showstopper. Like you you held up the escalator at blur gun, which is not for for for lineups, is is is is not easy to do. Like you literally held up the escalator because of how many people were surrounding you to, and I'm not trying to be sacrilegious, but like literally almost like you know, touch the hem of your garment. Like people had to stop and say, don't squint your eyes. You know that's what happened. There was a crowd forming while you were standing there one leg out with your your hand uh with your face to the left, like given, given, given. It was amazing. And I just again, I think people need to I people need to be able to see these things. Matter of fact, what needs to happen since we can't actually frame or black box the materials, we need to just take all the pictures and turn them into a museum. That's what we need to do.
SPEAKER_02I'm cool with that. I can do that. I can do that. I can do that because don't expect it. Next year ain't gonna be there. It's not gonna be there. I only have a small a lot of space that I'm working with. Um and I when I get my own place, I need to have if I could just have a room, then I can start saving cosplays. Um and but also it's also financially uh agreeable for me to break down cosplays because cosplays is a very expensive hobby. So I've heard, so I've heard it's very expensive if you're in if you're just buying things, it's not that expensive. Well, I let me let me correct myself. If you're buying things from AliExpress, it's not that expensive.
SPEAKER_00Okay.
SPEAKER_02But if you're buying commission work, that can run you thousands of dollars. I've seen I've heard but if you're making things yourself and you are on a on a I would say a financial curfew, I don't know why that came in my mind.
SPEAKER_03Budget.
SPEAKER_02Financial budget, um, it's very difficult to work with. The dollar store is my friend. Oh god, I love the dollar store. Um, I love Amazon. And again, these are not to buy the the cosplay itself, but it's to buy bases and then to buy material parts. It's like right. I you can buy a dress, and that's the actual frame of the car, and then you still need the details to make sure that the car is complete. So that's basically my cosplays. I don't yet know how to sew with a machine, which and when I get there, the game is over.
SPEAKER_00I was about to say it that that tells me a lot because we've seen some things that you have worn, and the fact that you don't you state you do not know how to sew, but there's so many different things that you've crafted to fit and shape you, and that's another kind of a direction I want to go where as though you've I've seen a lot of the comments on social media where you have given you you you give a sense of body positivity with you, and although you've said many times, you know, you're you're still you have your own uh uh self-conscious behavior, but you have always been verbally uh encouraging to people to really shape the cosplay around you. Don't try to make yourself be the cosplay. And I mean, no matter what you tell us, between the cell, uh, girl, uh, I can't woo girl, between the orisha, woo, cha, the the the the the I can't even say the words, because you was just hitting at all the levels, and I'm like she said she she had an issue with where's it at? Because the way it's cinched and it's popped and it's puffed, and it's like, whoo, Jesus Christ. So for someone who you know you you you have those thoughts, but you still put yourself out there in such a way. What is that what is that like? What is what is that conversation you have with yourself? Because I I mean, is it do you take I mean, like you said, do you make yourself third person or is there a prep talk? You know, how uh uh Jennifer Lewis says, you know, she goes into the mayor every morning, it's like pretty bitch. Like, is that what you do in the morning? Or like how do you get yourself to put yourself out there?
SPEAKER_02That's a great question. I have always believed that you should dress for the person you are at that time. And there are certain styles that I've always wanted to wear or certain looks, and my body has yo-yo'd through the years to say the least. I definitely I've been a a medium. And that was when I was constantly dancing um in high school. I I had danced at a studio, I was, you know, at a I was dancing for company, and then versus um in my twenties, my early 20s, where I gained like 40 pounds on top of that, and my style shifted. So I always go by the style my where my body is at that time, I always dress for how I am. But I still look good.
SPEAKER_03Oh yeah. We can concur, yes.
SPEAKER_02I still look good. And for me, for me, for me to be comfortable, I'm like, okay, what style fits this? Body of mine that I know I'm comfortable in. And it's not like wearing like a moo moo or anything. Like I still want to feel sexy and feminine. But you know, when I was, I would say a heavier set for me. I love 1950s. I love pinup. I know I love what pinup was. Pinup was wasn't about, I think the the Twiggy phase and Twiggy the model was in the 70s. And but before Twiggy even blew up, models are plus size. Maryland Monroe was a size 12, 14. And so people don't understand that that was I was a 14, 16 at my heaviest. And now I'm a size like 10, 12. So I invoked the vintage style because I had models to look at. I'm like, you can look sexy and dress in this, in this vintage retro glam and still kill it. And that was my style at the time. Whereas now I'm like I've kind of just mentally have seen, I like Shina, you can do the gothic now, the gothic style. Not that you couldn't before. It was very difficult for me to find clothes in my size at that time that were of the alternative range that looked figure flattering on me. And that was really what it is. I just wanted to look figure flattering for myself. I didn't care what anybody else says. It was just for me. I wanted to look, I wanted to be comfortable, but I still wanted to be glam in my own way. So I would say I never have a prep top, but I think, you know, and we all have insecurities. I I lost 40, 45 pounds, and I still have insecurities because insecurities don't go away when you lose weight or gain weight. You it's really of the mind and healing trauma and things like that. But you know, I I still think about okay, well, do something that you always wanted to do and you never were able to do. Either do the finances or there was a lack of inclusivity when it came to fashion. I'm like, I'm gonna, I'm gonna wear what I wanted to wear in middle school, but make it adult.
SPEAKER_03Make it adult.
SPEAKER_02So yeah, um, the biggest takeaway is to dress for who you are today. Never mind, every every everybody is gonna have something to say to you, no matter what. That you never dress for anybody. You just dress for yourself. You can be a size 22 and do alternate alternative fashion now, because thankfully they have marketed that that that size for plus size people where that wasn't really an option back then and for it to be affordable.
SPEAKER_00Right. Very true, very true, very true.
SPEAKER_02So, um, but yeah. Okay, okay.
SPEAKER_00So one question, and you you, of course, were talking about before going back a little bit, uh, you had talked about, you know, how side they came about. You talked about, you know, Halloween being the opportune time to really express your creative side and express your uh kind of character building. Um was there a character or a person? Um, like, like I guess a way I can phrase it is like who's your not cosplay hero, but who actually that's a good question too. But who is your character hero? Like, what is the character that really inspired you to say, I want to be that? And it didn't even have to be be in the sense of powers and stuff like that if that was the character, but be in the sense of I want to put that on. Do you recall that? Was there like an individual one or was this like a collective?
SPEAKER_02That's a good question. I mean, I always revert back to Poison Ivy because that was my first cosplay.
SPEAKER_03Okay.
SPEAKER_02And I love Poison Ivy because her skin was green. That's that's that's dope. And I think that probably was the turning point to Sayone for sure. Even when I didn't even know who Sayone was, I just knew that body paint, that's cool. Right. And when you're in a when you're in a world that's so focused on skin color and skin tone, and I can transform myself into something else without any debate. And again, it's always gonna be fucking debate anyway. But it's just so I can just I can change and not have to hear noise. And um, I just loved uh Poison Ivy. I loved how she was just a femme fatale. I've always gravitate towards femme fatale, I don't know why. Maybe in another life I was. I'm very sweet. I I wouldn't I wouldn't hurt people that I really would, but I would say poison ivy for sure. And it's funny, I'm gonna go back and look through my Instagram role and be like, no, there's somebody else, but I that's the ultra person in my head at the moment because I um I actually was supposed to do Poison Ivy again this year because this would have been my yeah, my 10-year anniversary officially cosplaying. What I was gonna What? Yeah, where was this announcement? Where are the Trump phones? Where's the trumpets? I didn't announce that.
SPEAKER_00Oh, I'm sorry. Well, you just met you just fucked up because now this is about to turn into the 10-year anniversary interview special for Sio Day cosplay. I wish I had a MapVac Amber insert horn here. That's what it is.
SPEAKER_03Oh goodness.
SPEAKER_00Oh, yeah, you you'd have fucked up now, bruh. I think it's good.
SPEAKER_02But uh, yeah, so um I was 23 when I first started cosplaying at Oda Con, and I'm 33 now. That is 10 years, and I wanted to my original goal was to revisit my very first cosplay, which was Poison IV.
SPEAKER_00I mean Do you still feel like you can before the year's out?
SPEAKER_02No, because I want to do it a con. Ah, okay, okay, okay. I mean, of course I could. Right. But I but I I would I would probably be disappointed because I want I I really would want to go to a con and then just live in this moment of in a decade, look how I've changed. And just to see how everything is, just mentally, physically, emotionally, and and artistically different from where I was then and now it's like a coming of age. And I think due to um unfortunate circumstances of this year, I'm just gonna have to kind of treat it like a leap year.
SPEAKER_00I was about to say, actually, next year's a leap year, so it actually works.
SPEAKER_03It does, doesn't it?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah, there you go.
SPEAKER_03So yeah.
SPEAKER_00And and most importantly, next year is the is it 30th, 30th anniversary of Odacon. So now you can make it special.
SPEAKER_02Interesting.
SPEAKER_00Okay, it's 30, right? Yeah, yeah, 30, 30, 30.
SPEAKER_02Wow, 30 years. That's wild. Right? That is wild. Oh man, I miss it in Baltimore so much.
SPEAKER_00So I mean, I I think first off, that's amazing. Um, 10 years, uh, because you know, when people think about, you know, I mean, I don't want to use the word, but yes, it's been a decade of cosplay. And I think what's amazing is this is your because you already say, you know, you're gonna look back through your Instagram real, but this is your opportunity to really take stock and really just kind of go back and maybe even not just recreate, maybe even do a photo shoot maybe of like your first uh uh cosplays, your first ideas and thoughts. Because I'm sure from what I've heard, a lot of cosplayers have not necessarily a book, but they have like, I mean, like you said, you don't have rough draft. So maybe even just the initial ideas that you had that maybe you never got to touch on, and maybe you get to finish them and and create them next year, between now and next year, and really showcase, like you said, that that growth. Where was Sine then and who is Sayone now? I think would be like a dope little presentation. So I think it'd be really cool. Um, but to wrap up, you know, this wonderful interview, um, I I did want to ask, I want I I was gonna say who is your cosplay hero? Um, because that was one of the questions that I asked. Uh, because I know, like you were saying before, there's only a select group of cosplayers that you advocate for or you shout from the rooftops uh and post and repost and and say, You see what I've been over there, you see what she doing? So, you know, is there, or let me not even use now, because I know it'd be difficult to do now because you don't want to pick favorites. So back then, was there an individual who as a cosplayer you might have, or was there somebody who was there a character that was cosplayer? There we go. Was it because I know you said you saw like Sailor Moons in the street, you saw you know different characters in the street. Was there a cospla, a cosplayer? Sorry, when you were younger that let you know that's the one I want to be like that. Not necessarily you were because you said your first one was Poison Ivy, but not that's not like you saw Poison Ivy, but was there a character that you saw that was like, I want to be a cosplayer because I saw somebody doing that?
SPEAKER_02Queen Amidala.
SPEAKER_00Wow.
SPEAKER_02I don't even like fucking Star Wars.
SPEAKER_00I was gonna say that I know that. And that wow, it was a Queen Amidala.
SPEAKER_02Queen oh my, I lost my money. I lost my mind. I couldn't believe it. I couldn't believe I've seen I I was able to be honored to see somebody that looked so so so beautiful, and that was my whole aesthetic. The details, the hair. I used to so I used to do art when I was uh a young, how a young wee lad. I I used to um I used to take art very seriously. And I would, I guess another life I was a designer. I would do a lot of details with dresses and beatings and and you know little things here and there and headdresses and headpieces. There's always something dripping with diamonds and shit. And and uh Queen Amadala was everything to me. I don't know her backstory, I don't know, I don't know nothing of hers. But when I tell you, honey, when I saw that red dress, it has it still has been chokehold. There is a cosplayer, and I forgot her name, and I'm gonna see if I can send it to you to um to tag you in it. But she does she literally invokes Queen Amadala cosplay. All of her cosplayers are Queen Amadala, and she makes everything by hand the dress, the hair, everything. And she is a Latin American or Latin ex um cosplayer, I believe. Okay, beautiful, beautiful, they are beautiful, and uh oh my gosh, absolutely gorgeous. So I would have to say queen amidala for for me.
SPEAKER_00That's a that's that's a bar.
SPEAKER_02I know it is a curve.
SPEAKER_00That is a bar. Okay, okay.
SPEAKER_02It's so weird. How many people talk about her aesthetic now? I think I everybody's so wrapped up in fucking trends and whatnot wrapped up in trends.
SPEAKER_00No, no, no, you you are correct. I mean, I mean, there are people who you know always revisit their loves, their first loves, whether it be a specific character and improve on it. But like you said, most people's trends, the you know, what's current, what everybody's watching right now, you know, we've we've talked many times, you know, Demon Slayer came out, we saw a million Nezuko's uh or a bunch of kimonos, and then um uh uh uh what's that thing called? Jiu Jitsu Kaisen came out, and then we saw Gojos and different people like that. So, you know, that's gonna happen, but then there's individuals who are like focused on just their artistry. Um, and I've said before, you know, like yourself, like Miss Skittles, uh, the Black McCoy is another example, different cosplayers that have been on the podcast that their artistry, it has nothing to do with the mainstream. It's about whether it was before I wanted to do it or right now I wanted to do it. There is a character, there is a person, a persona that I want to invoke. And I don't care why you're doing why why you want to see it or why he wants to see it, or she wants to see it, or they want to see it, I'm doing it for me. And that's the reason why you all do what you do. And that's I've I've said since the first time I met all of you, it is one of the things that inspire me the most about cosplayers and inspire me the most about all of you is just the ability and the want and the capability to say, um I don't know, I I had Sealy in my head for my mind until I finish this cosplay, I'm gonna stay the path, I'm gonna stay the course, I'm gonna do it, even to a fault. There have been some times y'all like stuff is falling apart, and I'm like, okay, well, let's switch to something else. Switch to something else.
SPEAKER_03There is nothing else.
SPEAKER_00There it is. There it is right there. So I again I must applaud you. I mean, since I I'm I'm going to rescind my initial excitement about 10 years because we've decided to postpone the 10 years into the leap year.
SPEAKER_03So that was I I jumped the gun on that one.
SPEAKER_00So we will wait until the leap year 2024 will be and everybody do I have permission to say this?
SPEAKER_03Sure.
SPEAKER_00Okay. So everybody, let's get ready, prepare to celebrate 10 years of Syana cosplay in 2024. Um, uh 10 years of her cosplaying. Uh, I I think is gonna be phenomenal. I think it's gonna be uh amazing.
SPEAKER_01Who is that?
SPEAKER_00I I believe that's Miss Skittles, but I'm not sure. We'll we'll check, we'll check later. Um but yes, I I think it's going to be uh a like whatever you decide to do, whether you you know decide to revisit, whether you decide to, you know, maybe pull something out of a diary or a journal that you may like, I would really want to do this, but you just like left it in the back. You know who I really want to see in person? If if I can be uh uh uh greedy, is uh gender-bent logo. Because child, that Halloween episode. Oh that logo with the fangs. I was like, oh, you just go, you just gonna throw that out there with the chains and everything. Have have have the have the vest over the cleave. I was like, oh, that's how that's what we're doing.
SPEAKER_02That was definitely my partner's um doing for the stuff.
SPEAKER_00It was good though, but you liked it.
SPEAKER_02That was so like, I was like, this isn't okay. That was definitely definitely just last minute. But um, I appreciate you. I I did think, I did think on when what you know you you're asking about which character, and while as you were talking, you know, I was going my mental rolodex hexadecimal. It's like hexade. Hexadecimal. Oh my god, reboot. Look, you're not a 90s kid if you don't know you really, you really aren't. And hexadecimal, she was black, yes, you couldn't tell me that.
SPEAKER_00Because her and Megabyte were black, they were two black siblings, they were angry at each other, but they were happy with each other. When it was time to be my rider, they were. When it was time to be mad at each other, they were. Like that, that actually they were all black. I don't you ain't gonna tell me Bob everybody, Bob, Dot, Enzo, all of them was black. You ain't gonna tell me Enzo.
SPEAKER_01You ain't gonna tell me all had lots. That's one of my favorite cosplays of yours now. Like, uh soinate, first of all, I mean, uh there's so she just be so astounded to me, like it just like she just be popping up with stuff, and I'd be like, damn, like I already know this was happening. And then I'll just be like, oh, I'm in love with it. I'm in love. I'm in love with it. Like the Queen of Hearts, the Queen of Hearts, and the the mashup with the the Queen of the Umbrella, bruh. Yeah, yeah. The red, oh my god, when I say the I don't even I don't even know like what's my top like that's like it might it's probably in the top five for sure. Yes, but I mean hexadecimal, uh that one, uh, and then you just oh my god, you just did Queen Barrel, bro.
SPEAKER_00I was scared. I was I didn't even get I'm glad I didn't see it in person. I'd have lost my shit.
SPEAKER_01Oh my god, I snapped that picture. Uh it's like forever months forever? Forever month. It's mine now. You belong to okay. Those are some of my favorites, like hands down, hands down.
SPEAKER_02Thank y'all. I I appreciate y'all. Y'all don't know how how many times stuff falls off and have to play cool. Like Queen Barrel, everything was falling off, no face, everything was falling off, and I just had to just go on with the show. And when I got home, I was like, but um, you know, for for Miss Skittles and th thank goodness of your wonderful the surprise cameo. Uh we have to we have to turn it over to her. When you were when you know when Suchi were asking me about idols, um I was it's kind of like I really still have like a girl crush on on Miss Skittles that will never never be, you know, it'll always be we're not gonna do this today. We're not gonna do this today. We are, we are, you know, because we are um you know senpai, you know. Ah, senpai! Okay um but yeah, for you know, and I know I know she were over time, but I just I just cannot leave without expressing how much how awestruck I was and still am of Miss Skittles artistry and craftsmanship. And y'all, she does things by hand, okay? She she be sewing. She be crafting, she be she makes stuff, she'd be putting things together, wings. I will never forget the the um Tokyo Ghoul cosplay. I will never forget, I don't even know what the cosplay is, but it's like the red wings and shit. I don't know where it was from, but it was built.
SPEAKER_00Was that um yeah, oh my gosh.
SPEAKER_02I remember like for um 28 days of black cosplay, I just kept I think I kept at uh putting Miss Skittles in. Oh, I'm like, y'all, I don't give a fuck y'all.
SPEAKER_00I don't give a fuck. Yeah, I just kept one to 28, Bob. One to 28.
SPEAKER_02It's uh it's just insane. And you know, I I I appreciate how y'all say, you know, you wonder how my brain works, but I really don't know how your brain works when it comes to putting things together or knowing where to start. Yes. And again, I've been cosplaying for 10 years. Miskito has not been costling as long as me and blows me out the water when it comes to damn near everything. And un I mean makeup, cra like Smith craft smithcrafting, craft smithing, foam smithing. Foam smithing, something smith. Sewing. I and you know, I believe that Miss Skittles um said in an earlier episode that you know she started what 2018, nine 17? It was in the past what five years, right?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, exactly. Last year was my 50 year anniversary.
SPEAKER_02Okay, see, see, so I am peanut I am peanuts compared to oh no man.
SPEAKER_00Stop it, stop it. You ain't about to do that. See my hair.
SPEAKER_01See, it's time to wrap it up. She goes crazy. Wrap it up, beat all right.
SPEAKER_00So before Syanae tries to pass this book and not make it about her again, thank you all for being a part of this episode. Thank you all for listening. Um, as I said before, we definitely want to celebrate Sayane cosplay 10 years in 2024, not this year, in the leap year 2024. Um uh, we might do like a blurred spectrum event.
SPEAKER_03Oh, okay.
SPEAKER_00We're gonna celebrate you, celebrate it. Oh, yes. Oh, Miss Gilders, you're gonna have one in four more years, so just be prepared. You get one.
SPEAKER_01No, we should do five. We should do five. Five was last year.
SPEAKER_00Five was last year.
SPEAKER_01It has pans in the week year. Next week is the week with the cosplayers. Leap year of cosplayers. Oh my god.
SPEAKER_00So we'll we'll see how it works. But again, thank you all for participating. Um in this uh uh uh I I didn't even know it was a celebratory interview, but in this uh Scionic cosplay interview, uh we'll be of course doing more of these with the rest of our panelists for the Blurred Spectrum. Um, and more of these, you know, to go more in depth in each of our individual panelists. Uh, but of course, you know, as we always do, uh, let's go ahead and give you an ability to know how you can follow or reach each of our panelists, specifically Miss Scionet Cosplay. SPEAKER_00She's like, oh, it's not gonna happen. I'm fine. It's cool. Um, and of course, our surprise cameo. Uh um, no, it's not about me.
SPEAKER_01It's not about me. Go ahead, go ahead, nope, cut, cut it all off.
SPEAKER_00Cut it all off. Okay, no problem, no problem.
SPEAKER_01I got you.
