Welcome back to the Blurred Spectrum Podcast, ladies and gentlemen. People of all ages, non-binary folks, all of our blurred them, the kingdom, the nerd them, the fandom, all of you. We are back again to continue our panelist profiles with actually our newest panelist, our newest invitee, including uh member individual. Our newest individual teacher, I'm not gonna correct you. Uh and in addition to the Blurred Spectrum family, he joined back in July uh during our live episode at BlurredCon. Uh actually joined before that, but he officially did his first episode back during BlurCon, did a phenomenal job, as I said many times. Um of course he doesn't like uh being told things because he gets bashful. Uh so I'll try not to introducing our new panelists, and I'm not gonna mess it up this time, though I don't think I messed it up in a while. So he says, which is in you Sailor Alchemist.
SPEAKER_02Okay, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, ooh, cut as well. Uh great, uh glad to be here. Nice nice weather we're having. Nice, uh, nice room. We love it.
SPEAKER_03Uh so uh, and of course, you know, uh, if you don't already know my no my voice by now, this is your moderator, Su Gino Shogun. Um and what I would love to do, of course, is start to you know give uh how would you let me start with this? You know, Inu Sailor Alchemist is a very long lane. What would you prefer to be the short alias of that name? Like would it be?
SPEAKER_01Oh, well, I think's fine. Yeah, Inu's definitely fine. Uh yeah, Inu's definitely fine. Uh yeah, it's crazy because I was always thinking about like, ugh, this name is so long, but it actually has a lot of meaning because it was the first moniker that my cousin made on an old website called Quizilla, and she stopped doing it and she was just like, You do you want to like take the pseudonym? And I was like, Yeah, sure, I'll do it. So, like I was on Quizilla, I don't think I did a lot of stuff on there, but I definitely was an advid quiz taker. Like, if anything, I did like have some ideas because the QuizZilla was also a place where you can like type down your story ideas, like when you just had like these wild, crazy, just like imaginary moments, and you're just like, I just need to write some shit down, and you go on Quizilla. It's probably not the same now, but back then it was definitely a place for people who were just like what type of like like cartoon villain are you, or like what type of Pokemon are you based off your birthday? Like it was just like wild, crazy things. But in New Sailor Alchemist is where it came from. Yeah, pretty much. Yeah, before yeah, before Reddit was Reddit, you had Quizilla. Yeah, I can say that, yeah, yeah. So it definitely was that, but um, yeah, that's why that's I kept it because it was like I also she loved Inu Yasha, she loved Sailor Moon, and she loved Full Metal Alchemist, so it was all her three like animes that kind of she kind of uh gravitate toward to and she came up with the idea in with the alchemist. My in my opinion, my cousin is the better writer and and drawer, but you know, I was like, I I want, yeah, let me take your pseudonym, let me be that person for you. I'll be that, I'll be your poster boy. And here we have it.
SPEAKER_00Does he have a new pseudonym?
SPEAKER_01Uh I don't think she does. I think it was something that she like did as a hobby and she's like stopped for a while, but like she enjoyed that I enjoyed the the the uh the allure of it because it was used it used to be me and her on our uh grandfather's computer, and we used to do quiz together, and we used to just like die of hilariousness because it was like the answers that were given in quizzes were like very like uh just intricate, but also it was like a fortune cookie that like you don't know if you're smart enough if you realize that the fortune cookie like insulted you, but it was so profound. It was like it was like answers like that. You know what I mean? Like only a fool can uh look up and like notice like there's clouds in the sky, like some shit like that. Like, yeah. So it was definitely uh a wonderful like experience that's uh around that name. So I was like, my why not uh you know bring it back up and revive it.
SPEAKER_03Phenomenal, phenomenal. I mean, yeah, as long as you know you're comfortable, as long as it's it doesn't have to be like near and dear to you, but as long as it embodies or it feels natural when you choose an alias or you choose a name for yourself, or if somebody hands it, passes it down to you. I think it's it's it's phenomenal. Like it's it's such a great feeling. Like each of our panelists, you know, like Sayame cosplay, Miss Kittles, each of their names, you know, there's a story behind them, and the way that they created gives them a unique persona. Same thing. I'm like, I there is no one close on this podcast with name anywhere near in Usailor Alchemist. Because it's like everybody's just sitting there, like, well, damn, okay.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, the more you say it, the comfortable you get with it, right? Correct.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, so uh what I normally do uh for all of the panelists uh that I interview is I give them the actually almost for anybody I interview, I give them the opportunity to kind of say how you got to this point. What what brought you to the blurred spectrum for lack of better words? How did you become a part of the spectrum? How are you a blurred? How did you get to this point?
SPEAKER_01Well, I mean again, I I don't know. Wow, such a crazy question. I'm glad you asked. Let me like think about it and find an answer. Um yeah, well, first I want to say I've been a gamer since a child. Like I've watched anime since a child, like it's been very instilled in me, and I would say I've been blessed to actually like see the blueprint of animes that were in the well the the animes that were in the past that became the blueprint for animes now, and what is a transitioning into. So I think uh that's kind of like the thing that I always gravitated towards too in life. Like I did a lot of different I did a lot of different things in life. Like as a child, I was like my parents tried their best to like put me in every type of form of academic or any athletics things, like in high school, I was almost in every single club, like no one never not knew who Christian Tara was in my high school. That that was just because the person I was like I was either over here on the debate team, over here on uh playing tennis, just just you know, different stuff, but the consistent love that I had was anime and video games, like that was the thing that kept me up during the weep uh hours of the night, and like you know, just falling in love with just escaping to that avenue of just you know another world, like that uh it was the bee's knees. So I don't know, uh we're moving on to uh now like you know, going through college and leaving college, uh traveling the world for a couple of a couple of weeks or so to just like reset and refresh. Um going into the food industry because like I liked food as a hobby, that was a thing. So I was cooking for a long time. Uh was in training, like in trade school cooking, like it was a great time, got got uh internships. It was great through the internships. I actually had a job through the jobs, I had a career, and I was just there moving. But again, every time when I was stressed out, every time I was uh this that and third, when I was in the pit working, I always gravitated towards video games. I always went on PlayStation or went on like my handhelds. Like I was the person on GameCube when when the Game Boy events had the links, yeah. Linksis, when you connected to other Game Boy events, like that was me. And like I was trying to find people who can connect to like I I I had it. I was like, uh can we play uh you got Legend of Zelda or for Link Adventure? Like let's let's get into it. So it was just like, you know, definitely was in the end, like, yeah, definitely in the the the gaming, like that was where I was at.
SPEAKER_03You were the setup when it like yeah, when I've been to I've been to colleges, campuses, and different events, and I might have mine and just mine because I'm like you know, I I don't expect somebody to want to play, but there was always one person that always had the link cables, always have the setup, so you were the setup.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, and it's just like crazy, yeah. And it's just crazy how like you have these love for things as a child, and you uh kind of like put it in the back of your head, because it's like not in the current mind space of what you need to think now, but as you're growing up and you see people that like the same shit that you did as a child, it comes back up. So that was a lot, a lot of things like with anime, with the video games, with Magic the Gathering, especially with Magic Gathering, because it was just like when I tell you Magic the Gathering was just popping in my life like breadcrumbs, like this was something that, yeah, and I don't know what made me not sell my cards when I had them. I guess I was just like, maybe I'll come back to these, or maybe I'll just like like I don't know what what made me keep the cards I had, but there was multiple times where I kind of thought like I'll never play this game ever again. But it wasn't because of you know of uh that I didn't like the game, it was just because I in my community around the people with me, like I did not have that uh that community of people to play. But like in college, there was one guy, he was like, I play Yu-Gi-Oh! cards, and I like he plays Yu-Gi-Oh! So I was like, Okay, well, let me see your decks and I'll I'll play with your decks. Like, I know how to play a card game, I can pick it up.
SPEAKER_04Right.
SPEAKER_01So we were playing Yu-Gi-Oh! for a second, and then I was just like, you know, I don't know what I'm doing, but just tell me how to ro how the rotation is, and we'll just get it, you know, we'll we'll we'll we'll climb it, we'll climb the ladder when we get there. And I think the deck, I forgot the deck he had, but the deck he gave me was a ghost trick deck. Okay, and ghost trick is I think currently not good at this at that at this moment, but it definitely was a gimmicky like like uh setup, the way how the cards uh interacted with each other and other people. So I enjoyed the the mechanics that were based off the tribes of Yu-Gi-Oh! Like that's the one thing that I enjoyed. Like, if there were different tribes that surged each other, I was here for it. Uh so that yeah, with Yu-Gi-Oh! that was a thing, but I didn't like what I didn't like about it was the constant uh installments that added on to the mechanics of the game that kind of changed it fundamentally. Yeah, because it was like you changing the game fundamentally as is as we're as we're progressing it, but it's like you have to kind of strengthen the old mechanics that were in the game, or because like they were obsolete now, you know, now that you bring these new mechanics in. So it was very like, oh, like I don't know, but it's just you're it's like a math problem that's getting a new problem, like a new part of the equation, and it was just it was too much for my brain to kind of get behind. But he talked about magic while we were playing this Yu-Gi-Oh game, and I was like, Oh, yeah, like that's that's my like that's I have cards for that. He was like, for real, like bring your cards. So, like, time skip a little bit in college. I came back. I had a it was a house. I came back home, brought my cards, came back to college, and I was just like, Yeah, here are my cards, this, that, and the third. He was like, Well, I'm about to play with some guys, can you make me a deck? I was like, Yeah, I'll make you a deck. So I made him like this really basic mono-colored deck with one tribe that had griffins in it. Probably wasn't playable because I didn't know what I was doing at the time. Like, I probably was just collecting cards because they looked pretty. And I was like, Wow, you can't get you can't go wrong if you pick the same creature, you know what I mean? So that that's what that was my mindset at the time, and yeah, uh I don't even know what happened at the moment. I don't even remember if he won or loss, but nevertheless, moments like that was kind of I think one of the breadcrumbs I would say of like, yeah, this is something that I know I'm gonna stick with it, but I did not know how heavily it would impact my life currently. Because uh now it's like I am I'm in a Discord chat with like guys who play Magic. We all have different paths of life, we're all different people, we're all different races, we're all like it's very it's very diverse. Uh and majority of them are minority, so it was just like you know, an aspect of uh because I love this game so much and I found people that I gravitated to and people were willing to learn from me, and now they're playing their own way, it's kind of like an eye-opening experience of like how you can, you know, affect other people to have the same, you know, commonalities as you. I don't know, but uh yeah, you know, after college and after uh the food avenue, and you know, I just was unsatisfied with the gratification and the um I can't think of the other word I wanted to say of the uh of the self-care that I I couldn't really do for myself. I had to kind of leave the I had to leave the food industry. I was just like, you know, this my hobby of cooking is turning into a job, and I'm starting to hate my job. So this is making me redirect my passions and goals. And you know, long story short, I went into GameStop one day. Like I've always tried to go because I live near a GameStop, so I always tried to like get hired there throughout my whole life, but like it never happened. Either it never happened or like the people I tried to that was originally trying to hire me, like they got fired. So I'm just like fuck, you know, like we're back to square one. So at this moment, uh, I remember I had applied online and I was just like, I went to the store and I was just like, hey, I like I applied online. Uh what else do I need to do to work here? And they're just like, Well, that's all you need to do. I was like, well, here about how about this? I'm gonna give you my name and my number, and you look for my my information because y'all gonna want me here. Like, I was just I was on some like, I'm not leaving till y'all hire me. Because it's just like it's been too long, like y'all need help. Like, I was just on something like y'all need help, y'all need help. I was just like, I already see how y'all talk to customers. I was just like, let me let me help you out. This like this this pay me. You don't gotta pay me a lot. I was just like, you can pay me, you can pay me higher when we get there, but like let me let me like you know, let me show you my Kung Fu. You know what I mean? So it uh yeah, long story short, I am and I'm in GameStop working, I'm in the pit, I'm doing it, I'm doing the damn thing. And it's funny how you talked about merchandise and being sponsors because you don't believe how many customers that I talk to, and they're just like, you don't stream, and I'm just like, oh, mind your business. But uh at the same time, I'm just but I'm just like they they have points and tidbits. Like I it's surprising how I I guess I'm so used to the organic conversations that I have with people, and there is a joy there. I like I can admit that I do have I it does spark joy when people ask me like what game, like are there any new games that are out? Like what type of game can I play? And I'll just be like, Well, what type of game are you looking for? Like that you you gotta kind of redirect the question because there's so many new games that's out all the time, all the time.
SPEAKER_03So many old ones that people don't even know about, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Right. It's just what are you looking for to scratch that itch? What are you looking for to pass the time? Because it's just like you know, you can get a game and be like, this is the most popular game, but it may not be the game for you, you know what I mean? So it's so many different things, and I think that goes with music, it goes with anime, like there's always something new that is going on in our industry, and if not new, there's always a different twist, there's always a retelling of a story, so it's just like it's exciting to see new people get into it and me be a part of that bridge, you know. We're not trying to gatekeep, we're trying to keep the gates open, you know.
SPEAKER_03So we are and help people know exactly where to go once they get through the gates. That's the point.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, right. So, you know, it's it's it's um it's definitely been a journey, but it's uh exciting to see. Uh this is, you know, it's it's fun. It's fun doing it, and it's it's exciting. This is like the next step. I don't know if all that answered any of your questions, but uh was what's you know, tell people about yourself.
SPEAKER_03So yes, it answers that question. Thank you.
SPEAKER_01Okay, great. Yeah, I'm a Pisces, my favorite color is blue, I love sushi, you know, um, I'm single.
SPEAKER_03Meet these. No, but the so from what you asked, what you stated rather, one question, you know, uh I did have, which you know, I already knew about you, which is your love for, you know, magic. Um, and I I had known, of course, that you've played Yu-Gi-Oh! before. Um, and you you you touched on kind of that transition between when you were playing uh with someone playing Yu-Gi-Oh and how magic was more of your thing. What would you say is for you personally the core reason why you lean more toward more towards the magic side than the Yu-Gi-Oh side? Is it actually because of the new iterations of Yu-Gi-Oh that have kind of broken down kind of the stacking capabilities of it? Or is it just magic magic system is better to you?
SPEAKER_01Um I so I think that for me when they were adding more stuff to the mechanics and nerfing things, I kind of fell off. Um, and also like I had I was surrounded by a lot of people that play Yu-Gi-Oh!, but I don't think they knew the rules to Yu-Gi-Oh too. So I think that also had to do with it. Like, I again I I I I was like, I was in this because the cards were cute, right? Not because I really understood the mechanics going on with Yu-Gi-Oh!
SPEAKER_04Right.
SPEAKER_01When I fully understand the cut the the mechanics of it, I was just like, oh no, I don't, I don't like this. I was just like, I don't even like how certain things happen. Like, I like the whole sacrificing monsters to get bigger monsters, I don't gotta do that in magic. That's just one, and that's just one thing. Like, that's one like magic was a resource game, and Yu-Gi-Oh!'s not. Like, Yu-Gi-Oh! doesn't have that resource mechanic that magic does. Magic, you gotta build up resource to actually do stuff in the game that you can just like the longer the game gets, the more powerful your deck becomes, and that's just on any deck, because you're just opening up avenues with like the mana resources that magic has versus Yu-Gi-Oh! is kind of like your resources are kind of like your monsters, yes. So it was just like, hmm. I didn't, yeah, yeah, yeah. Like, I didn't kind of that didn't sit well with me, but also that's just one aspect, like uh, and I also think the other reason too was like the decks that I liked were the weakest decks too. They were not, they were becoming the lower tier only because it was like they were they weren't get they weren't getting the support that they needed to keep up with newer mechanics, aka ghost trick decks. Like ghost trick decks is a gimmicky deck, you're only doing one thing, and that's kind of like playing hide-and-go seek with the cards, but trying to like hit your uh opponent with direct uh directly while turning their cards face down, and like your cards having face-up and flip-up abilities, but it's like it was kind of give and take. And you have uh Gravekeeper decks where now it has become a high-tier thing because they actually gave it support now, and it it kind of cuts off like banishment and fusions.
SPEAKER_03But at a time, that was a uh uh uh I think a deck that was kind of having problems too because it was completely yeah, I I watched his focus was um the Gravekeeper's tomb, the gravekeeper's deck, and yeah from high school, like Bar None was trying his best, that's what I'm gonna do, and didn't want to do anything else. And then eventually he was like, I can't, like what's happening? Everybody can undo or stop what I'm doing. But like you said, eventually they came out with another iteration that yeah, it was one additional card. I don't know if it was a field card or it was it was like a trap card that gets destroyed, it gives you like your gravekeepers.
SPEAKER_01It was a couple of creatures that kind of negated creature effects. Uh, and it was the grave uh gravekeeper supernaturalist who's like I think one of the strongest cards in there where he fused. And like he just shuts everything down, and he's like, he can't be affected by anything as long as uh like it's so if they're doing that for the gravekeepers deck, why do you think that the ghost trick deck didn't get that opportunity eventually?
SPEAKER_03I mean, again, not saying that's the ghost your ghost trick deck being you know lower tiered is the reason why you stop playing Yu-Gi-Oh! But if they eventually circled back and now they're adding newer cards that can be keystones inside of some of the older builds, would that reintroduce you potentially playing Yu-Gi-Oh? Just a question.
SPEAKER_00Uh no.
SPEAKER_01And I'm gonna tell you why. I'm gonna tell you why. Because buying cards costs money. I already buy enough cards when it comes to magic, and I can't do, I can't support another card game. I just can't do it. I can't.
SPEAKER_00Now, now I'll be down, I'll be like, you got a deck? Okay, let's go down. Like, if you I'll play your I can play your cards. I'll just like you gotta tell me. Like, you know what I mean?
SPEAKER_01Like, reading the card explains the card. That goes with any game. So like I can do that, but you know, I can't invest on getting a deck myself because I out of all like I have too much love for magic to give Yu-Gi-Oh like any time or space unless I'm just like like a like I'm a social card player, like you know, like I'm I'm like, you got the deck, I'll sit down and play. But you know, I'm not gonna, it's not gonna be anything crazy. Okay, you know, so but I would say with magic, like the reason why I gravitated towards that is it's more than just the mechanics, like every card has a story, there's a story being told in the cards, and I think that's also another thing. Like, there is an overarching, uh overarching like plot when it comes to different sets, and I can get lost in that story because some of the stories that are being told in magic is very relatable and very emotional, and Yu-Gi-Oh! kind of tried to do that with their cartoon show, but or tried to do that with their anime, but it's just like it it got bigger and bigger to the point where I feel like it was just a saturation of just like let's just give people a main pro tag and cards. Although I feel like some of the anime that came out was trying to connect back to the first CVO, so it was just like a lot of things that was going on with that where I was just like, you know, I see what you guys are doing, but you know, I need deep and magic cards over here. But I was aware, like I was aware. I was looking, I was looking over the over yonder, and just you know, just like, okay, I see, I see y'all.
SPEAKER_03Trying to do what you said. It's like they were building, they were, you know, introducing newer and newer cards, newer decks, newer builds, newer uh uh generations is what a lot of people call them uh of cards. And that that try or attempt at circling back to the earlier seasons is to kind of you know that's why Yu-Gi-Oh! Yu-Gi-Oh! Yu-Gi-Oh! would show up, or rather, a 10 would show up with you know, the Celtic Warrior out here fighting these yeah, you know, I was like, you still didn't want to give him up?
SPEAKER_01Oh, I'm gonna go back to the dragon. I remember when Yu-Gi-Oh, when Yu-Gi-Oh came out with that Bond movie, I forgot which movie it was, but it was a movie that came out in theaters. For y'all who are true Yu-Gi-Oh fans, they know that I was in there. And when you do go in there, they gave you they gave you a car pack before you got into the movie theater. So that means that you got cards based off of creatures based off the movie. Right. Because Scapegoat, Scapegoat came from the movie. Yeah, that was the first time I saw Scapegoat. Yeah, after that, everybody was using it. But Scapegoat came for the movie, and then you had different, it was different variations of Dark Magician and Dark Magician Girl that was popping up in that movie. I forgot what the movie was called, and that's terrible. However, I'm gonna tell you who was the main bitch in there who got the gloss up. I'm gonna tell you. Ask me who it was.
SPEAKER_00Who was it?
SPEAKER_01Karibo.
SPEAKER_00Karibo came out of here and shitted on everybody in this movie. And I'm gonna tell you what happened. So Yu-Gi-Oh came out with a ring Karibo, right? Oh boy. And everybody was I don't know who he was he facing, no, he wasn't facing uh, he wasn't facing Oh my god, who was he facing?
SPEAKER_01Because Pegasus was in the movie, but Pegasus is like, I'm on vacation. Oh yeah, Pegasus is chilling.
SPEAKER_02I remember he I remember Pegasus was on, he was at his, he was, he was at the after after Dooless Kingdom, Pegasus has been chilling. He got jumped at the city. He was at the beach house.
SPEAKER_01He's been chilling. He was he was at the beach house gagging, like, you want me to do what? You want me to go where? Oh no, baby, I'm off the clock. I am sipping. Someone was asked first, but he was like denied. He was comfortable, but nevertheless, you go out here battling some dude because this battle. Oh, I think it was the life points was actually connected to his life. I think that's what that was something. That was something with the plot where like your life force was actually like your life points, and so anywho, he came out with like a wing karibo, and homeboy was just like, What is this? Like, you're about to get smacked, like, what are you doing? And he was like, No, I have a magic card, and he pulled up Trisenda Wings.
SPEAKER_00So apparently, Tresinda Wings will transform Wing Karibo into what is it called? Wing Karibo Dragon level 10. Yes, I think that's what it is. And when and when that Bama comes out, I think the card was like it destroys every other single card, and like based off I think the life points that were monsters, it goes to the opponent directly, and that's what happened.
SPEAKER_01That's how he won the game. Tell me why. I pulled Trisenda Wings and I pulled no, I pulled Tracinda Wings. No, I pulled Wing Karibo Dragon level 10. I pulled the dragon. Wow. So I I went to I went to a comic book store a couple of weeks later, and I was just like, Do y'all have uh Trisenda Wings here? And some guy was like, Yeah, we got it. So he gave me my Tracinda Wings, and I was like, I got the combo.
SPEAKER_00Do do do do do time skip when Karibo Dragon is banned. Yep.
SPEAKER_01So I'm gonna leave it to you uh what happened around that. But never the never never nevertheless, you know, back to what I said, magic. I feel like with magic, it's a little bit deeper than that, because it's like yeah, they have a story, and then if you read up on magic, the colors are like based off like psychological, like it's it's based off the psychology of like the human brain, like each color kind of represents like your goal, but it's also like the goal and how you can like achieve the game. So this is like the fundamentals are more there for me for that card game. Like it's just on it's just on so many different levels. I can relate to it so hard that I can play it really well, and I think that that is another reason too. Cause it's just like everybody can play magic as long as you like know how to read.
SPEAKER_00So it's kind of like reading is fundamental.
SPEAKER_01I mean, it is, you know what I mean? Yeah, you gotta read the card, reading the card explains the card. Yeah, so you know, yeah, and I think with that, it was just like I just I found my village, you know. I I you know, people didn't play. I asked, like, one person wanted to play with me because I had the cards, and I I'll buy the card. Like, I actually today I just bought a uh two-pack, like ready to play uh like magic pack. So like it has two decks that you uh people can both try out. My ass, I was gonna dismantle both because I saw some crossing it. I used but you know, before I always do something, some things like that, I try to like ask any of my friends, like, y'all wanna play, you wanna play like a game with me with this deck with these two decks up all before I like get rid of it.
SPEAKER_00You know what I mean?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, so yeah, so you know.
SPEAKER_03Okay, okay. Yeah, I mean that that's a solid explanation and answer. I appreciate you for breaking that down for us and the listeners. Um I did also want to ask, what are the things I talked too much? I don't know. What are the things you did, and then I talked too much. One of the things you did bring up though, um is about how, like one of the first things you said when you were giving your kind of bio backstory is that you were you you've been a gamer since a very young age. And you know, one you also mentioned how when you, even when you were, you know, you call it a hobby now, but I I remember back when you were uh cooking and uh and working in the food industry full time, it was like you you were this close to saying it was your dream job and you were just head over heels in love with it. Yeah. And but then you would you you said that you would fall back whenever you would get stressed, you would fall back on playing video games to kind of calm you down and kind of recenter yourself. So if gaming is at your core, then you know, why do you think gaming has you in a chokehold? Why is why do you think gaming is your recentering? Because I know for some people, because it is it's mine as well. Like I I will have a stressed out day, week, month, whatever, and I'll sit down and I'll play certain games, and people are like, how is this? How are you calming down? Like you you're you you seem very stressed out playing this game. Oh no, I'm not stressed, I'm relaxed. I'm irritated by the people I'm playing with or again, but I'm fine right here. We we good over here. So why why is gaming why is that why is gaming that for you? Why is it your stress reliever? Why is it your center? Why do you always return back to gaming?
SPEAKER_01Uh, I mean, I think it's because it's also just a thing I've was instilled with when I was young. Like I played with my family with different games. Like my my my brother was the one who was a gamer before me, so like I would watch him play games. So it was like a thing that we would do together also as a family. So it, you know, it resonates with me good memories. Like there's always an overall good memory with me in gaming. So I think that's also just a thing that, yeah, why it's you know, I can never get rid of it because it's it's it's a part of my identity, it's it's what made me who I am today. So it's just you know, why would I get rid of something that's so fun? And I'm good at it, you know.
SPEAKER_03I think everybody can see because this will be on YouTube, but uh as well, but not everybody's gonna be watching this on YouTube, but they'll be hearing it. Christian has the biggest grin on his face, thinking about the fond memories of gaming at its core. So pleasantries.
SPEAKER_01I'm a child, we can easily heart. But no, yeah, it's cool. Like I could I still remember the games actually, like Tenchu Assassins was like one of the pla the one of the like one of the games I was on PlayStation that I I know I watched like down, like with my brother playing, and it's crazy because it was like I'm like five, four years old watching like ninjas assassinating people, like blood coming out the neck and everything. And I'm just like, this is what I am here for. Like, do it again. It was like it was so cool, you know what I mean? Like Dark Stalkers, uh Man, Soul Caliber on Dreamcast, like it like whoa, like when I tell you, and I mean we would spend hours and hours, like Soul Caliber was was played so heavily in my house that we only had that copy. And I think Dreamcat, like we never I think Dreamcat when we were playing Dreamcast so hard, I think it never had support for it to like get in stores anymore when we still had our Dreamcast. So, like I mean, I would put alcohol on this scratched up CD that is so caliber and like pray to the gods that it works, and I'm just praying, and then sometimes I'll get lucky, sometimes sometimes you get lucky, and you could just play it non-stop the entire day, and then sometimes it just was not going to participate with you. Sometimes you get stuck at the loading screen. I remember my brother was telling me, like, we gotta uh kid we had to do horror mode on every arcade, like every character to get uh Edge Master and practice or something, or to get him in the versus because that was the thing. And oh back in the day, in NASCO caliber, you had to go through arcades to unlock people. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Like people were people were locked, like you didn't have everyone access accessible to you, like you had to unlock it through like trials and tribulations. So it was it was there was definitely like something serious. It was definitely something serious, but um, yeah, I mean I I it it's it's again it's it's uh a great feeling to have this full circle of gaming being a part of the community, and then now like being a part of the industry and being part of the community in a way like where I'm kind of like having trepidation because it's like yeah, I'm not used to having like a lot of like social interactions, but if I could do it organically, yeah, this should this shouldn't be too hard, you know what I mean? So yeah, so it's it's uh it's uh cool seeing the feedback with uh people that are veterans, uh that are that been like like gamers, you know, gaming since uh childhood like me, and versus uh people who are getting into it now. So that was always a great time to you know get people acclimated into the industry. Because you know, gaming has had a bad rap every now and then, and now it's kind of like I feel like now it it's like it's kind of cool a little bit, not cool, but like it's acceptable for someone to be like, yeah, I play Anne Crossing, or yeah, I play Pokemon. Like it it's it's nice to see that, you know, that layer of acceptance. Because back in the day, it was definitely something where you know it was classified as being being like nerdy, and it's just like I know people who play games who are not nerds, like yeah, so it was just like you know, yeah.
SPEAKER_03No, no, you you were correct. I mean, it was either nerdy or you had to play a sports game, or or um if you were I didn't want to say that because that's another topic.
SPEAKER_01That is another topic for the podcast.
SPEAKER_03Was a period of time was I in elementary school? I was either in middle school or high school, I forget, but it was it was around the um the period of time where moms against video games came out, that group, and they were like, Oh, you know, because of Grand Theft Auto, because of um what else? All of the pretty much all the shooting games, this is why they're shooting in our schools, and people are violent because of them and all this other stuff. I was like, oh, okay. And then like they started banning. I mean, that's that's not why, but that's why people were encouraging, you know, a lot of the uh either the censorship or the restrictions on games and stuff like that. But anyway, I think fair enough. Um, I I thought you so to wrap up to wrap up this interview, I have two more questions. One, um, I think this would be good to for you, but as well as for our listeners to know, what are some future goals, aspirations, like what what does uh what does uh in you sailor alchemist want to do? Because you were talking about being happy about being in the community, about you know, giving information and direction to both uh uh OG gamers as well as new gamers, and you know, your insight at BlurCon regarding anime. I've I've told you this many times is why I was so for you joining uh the podcast, is your insight about all of the different variety of things that you've seen, that you've experienced, that you have watched, that you have played, is second to none almost in my book. Um, so like because of that expensive, I heard.
SPEAKER_00Expensive, my god. Because of that.
SPEAKER_03When did he put it on? But what are your future goals? What would you like to do with your um magnanimous abilities?
SPEAKER_01Oh, I don't know.
SPEAKER_03Shit.
SPEAKER_01No, um, I mean, I had actually had a talk with my friend last night about this too. It's kind of cool. Uh, about like I was I was actually like, I wouldn't say fearful, but I was afraid to start streaming, for instance, because I've seen all my friends do it. So I didn't want to like be, I didn't want it, I didn't want it to be like a a bandwagon thing because it's just like, you know, I'm always like, you I'm always for people like, hey, if you're streaming a stream, I don't mind. Like, it's been moments where I my friends have streamed before and I've been in the background and people have been like, you know, your shit was funny. Where's your friend? Right. I was just, you know what I mean? Because it's like your friend, like your friend was making me like die laughing. So it was just like it's moments like those where I'm just like, damn, like, I am I am I the silver lining?
SPEAKER_00What the fuck?
SPEAKER_01I was just like, I was like, shit, like I don't want, I don't wanna, like, I just wanna, I just wanna be a supporting character, but I don't know, it's just I feel like I need to do this for myself to see if um how far I will go and see how much uh fun I will probably have. Because again, it's like I m even strangers at this point are telling me that I should stream. So I'm just like, okay, I'm like, man, you know, like if if more than one person says the same thing, it's kind of like okay, you you kinda got some, we kind of work with something here. And yeah, even my friends they will ask me with like certain games, like, how is it and how's that? And I feel like I I feel strong enough to give synopsis where it's just like I can give you something short, sweet, and simple so you don't have to think about it too hard, you know, still try out this, that, and the third, but you know, you know, I'm like it's just it, you know, I don't know. And I feel like it's needed too, because I will also say this there are a lot of people that will come into this uh industry um to for enjoyment, but they don't have the information that is kind of uh needed, or not even needed, but like it's kind of wanted, like it would help so you can know what's going on just a little bit. Like there are people out here that will still buy games because of a trailer. But it'll be like, Did you see how the game actually plays? I know you see what the mechanics are, do you know like what's it about? Because you know, a lot of people here, like even a lot of people who are like religious, I've seen will turn back games because it would just like it it conflicts my religion. And I'm just like, Well, damn, did you not read you read the research it? You know what I mean? And then it's like it's like and it's not like a like it's not from a place of just like it, like it's innocent ignorance because it's like you know, they don't know because the and they don't know that the information is out there because no one doesn't really tell them this, and of course, it's the algorithms like if they're not gamers, they're not gonna see shit to about the game that they're gonna get. So it's just like it definitely does take into a fact where I tell people, like, you know, if you see a game, just look at it, look it up for a quick second. It don't take that long, look it up because you don't know what you're gonna get. Like, Marvel Midnight Suns was one of those games where we talked about that, yeah. We did, and we did, but I feel like for the people in the pod for people in the podcast, I'm just like that was one of the games where like they did an excellent job advertising it, they did a horrible job showing the gameplay. Yes, and a lot of people were like, Oh, did not expect this, and did not like it because what they did not expect, they didn't expect it. Like it was it wasn't the the game. A lot of people honestly thought that that game was gonna be like Marvel's Avengers, and I was just like, mm-mm, nah. If you're going in like that, every time when I asked someone when they're buying when they're buying games, I'm like, have you looked at this game? Because it's like Midnight Marvel Midnight Suns for me, like that was my shit. That was one of my favorite games. So it was just like, you know, I'm like, if you playing this, I need to know if you know what you're getting into. Exactly. Because you you not gonna know. You're not like it's going it like it did, it threw a lot of people for a lot of loops, and a lot of people were surprised that they couldn't get most of their money back because it's just like you know, they bought a game that they didn't ever get in the hands to, which leads to what I talked about earlier. So, you know, I feel like I don't mind being the middleman for people to be like, hey, you know, we have all these games, let's find the let's find the right one for you so you can go home and be happy. You know what I mean? That's what people want at the end of the day.
SPEAKER_03So well then that leads me into my final question, which is since your your apprehension, and this is what you said moments ago, so correct me if I'm wrong, but it's part of your apprehension. Nope, I forgot it seems like part of your apprehension regarding streaming is either doing it yourself by yourself or doing it being the silver lining, feeding off of somebody who feeds off of you. So if you weren't streaming by yourself, do you feel Like you would be able to start sooner rather than later, or do it at all.
SPEAKER_01Uh, I mean, I feel like I will be able to do it in the future. Uh I'm not sure if I don't I'm not sure if it's soon sooner or or farther. I'm not sure, but sooner or later. But I I feel confident uh of doing it in the future more than I did before just because of the feedback I'm getting. And I feel like I have the tools to like ask people that have streamed before to be like, hey, what do you have any advice that you're willing to drop any nuggets of knowledge for me to help me get my foot where it needs to be? Because I honestly don't mind like it's not even like me accumulating any fan base or anything, it's just like I've never just I just never imagined myself, you know, being on that level of just like watch me play this game, this and the third. And I mean, yeah, I don't know. It's just I'm rolling with I'm rolling with the punches.
SPEAKER_03All you can do at times, I'm not gonna punch anymore. Uh so you know, listeners, I hope you uh enjoyed this uh panelist profile. If you feel like you would like to hear the melodic voice and watch the extensive gameplay skills of one in you Sailor Alchemist, feel free to comment on this uh this recording, this video, uh uh send a message to our mailbag. Let us know. You know, maybe uh uh more strangers saying that they want to hear your analytic stylings uh will um will you know give you the push encouragement. Uh maybe we'll find you an endorsement and then we'll page it.
SPEAKER_01I'm pretty brilliant.
SPEAKER_03I'm pretty ribble. Thanks. But of course, you know, as I do at the wrap-ups of our interviews, I like to, you know, tell our panelists about themselves just a little bit. Uh and I said a little bit about it earlier. You you you truly are a phenomenal source of information. Um, I I I don't know, and based off of what you've been saying, it's not on intentional. It's really you being yourself, you being your authentic self. Let me make sure I say that. And like you said, if the information, if someone just asks you, you have the ability to chime in and and to gather that information in your head from wherever it's coming from. Uh because I don't know half the time either.
SPEAKER_01So but you're right. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Wherever it's coming from, it comes into your head and your mouth, and you're able to aid and help people. And I think one of the best parts about what you said in the last couple of minutes is the fact that your goal or your pleasure in doing what you're doing, especially if you're working at GameStop, is giving that aid, giving that help, giving that um direction to individuals who don't know any better and not disrespectfully know any better, but literally they like you said, the algorithm, yeah, the algorithm is designed to make us buy things, it's designed for us to be consumers. It's not fully designed to give us the right amount of information to make knowledgeable purchases. Correct. If we were to give more information to the algorithm, it would do that. But realistically, most of us are still fighting the algorithm. So we're only getting, oh, you're you're gonna like this based off of what this looks like because you like shiny things that look shiny like this. Now, what it actually is, the algorithm doesn't give a shit about that and doesn't give a shit about you knowing that. So it just gives you shiny and says you like shiny, so go buy the shiny. So I appreciate you uh utilizing your skills, utilizing your capabilities, your talents, your gifts, um, to really want to help. I mean, not many people will join a team of people to do like that. You joined, you know, GameStop, you joined the podcast to do that. Uh, you gave so much, like I said, so much clear insight um during both of our recordings at BlurCon. Um, and I'm really, I'm really excited to see what you are capable of doing and how you're able and going to. I'm not gonna, I'm only gonna encourage you. Uh as I tell people all the time, I'm not forcing nobody to do nothing that they don't want to do. If you ask me for help, I'm just gonna say, would you like to do this? If you say no, hey, don't be mad you missed out. But I think your path forward is going to be a it's gonna be a phenomenal one. I think you really you have something that you're not fully seeing yet. And I think once you tap into it, once you really get a hold of what that is, you're gonna know it's not as simple as streaming. Like it's not just, oh, watch me play video games. What you have is so like amazing that once you tap into it, I promise, it's gonna be like a gold rush of opportunities, like talkless of the money that the people are gonna throw at you, but it's gonna be a gold rush of the things that you have on the horizon. So I'm excited to see what comes next for the uh uh uh the in you Sailor Alchemist. I promise I will not. No, that's not true. I most certainly, when you get your first award, will make a video or podcast episode saying, I found it first. Fuck you, Nick. Oh my god. I said it went to the recording back in September of 2023. I said it, it was gonna happen. I don't need no money for this, but I want y'all to know I said it first. So oh my gosh. That's not me. Again, you are amazing, but as I always do, to wrap up these episodes, because this ain't supposed to go too long. Uh, I give, of course, panelists the opportunity to tell people how they can be found. So, you know, you say Alchemist, how can you be found? How do you want people to communicate with you if you want them to?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, sure. You can find me at on well, you can find me mostly on Instagram, uh clumsy otaku underscore. Clumsy otaku underscore. Uh you can find me on Hunkai Star Rail.
SPEAKER_00You can star rail. What's my name? I actually pulled up.
SPEAKER_01Uh it's called the Dale. That's it. It's simple. UID 600192034. Um, you can find me on uh you can find me on PlayStation. View13 is my gamer tag. Uh sometimes playing with it if you see me on a fighting game. So, you know, different things, but you know, other than that, yeah, this will be recorded. So, you know, you can always say that because I know that was a lot, but yeah, that's where you can find me.
SPEAKER_00Nothing wrong with as always.
SPEAKER_03Uh our podcast, you can find our podcast on Instagram, uh, Twitter, whoops, Twitch, Facebook, there's one more YouTube, The Blurred Spectrum or the Blurred Spectrum Podcast.
