Hello and welcome to the Blurred Spectrum Podcast. We are back again for another episode. This episode, and we've been waiting to do a video game themed episode. This episode is about video game remakes, the good, the bad, and the redeemable. We're gonna go over a list of all the different types of games that you know we have played, we've experienced, we've been, you know, privy to, and kind of give our our ideas, our concepts, our perspective on what would be the greatest remakes, not of all time, but just in general. Uh, the greatest, the worst remake, sorry, and then what could be redeemable. And by redeemable, we mean what games could have been remade into something great, or ones that the remakes needed just a little bit something, a dash of something extra, maybe Laurie's, to make it even better than what it is now. So before we start, let me go ahead and give you our panelists for today, starting with myself, Suchy No Shogun. We have Kaze, we have Sayone, we have Shampoo Bracelets, we have Ms. Skittles, we have the Doctor, and we have the Black McCoy. Bonjour. Now, real quick, let me give you a small breakdown. Now, there is a difference because you know, when you say the word remakes, you think about all these different games that have come out, especially right now, because people are well, not people, but gaming and the film industry and the TV industry are heavy into nostalgia, especially for our age group, a little bit before our age group, trying to make sure that they get our ticket sales, they get our our dollars to purchase all of the different games and movies and TV shows and DVDs and everything. They want us to get back into the, they want our dollars to keep going and recycling. They're not well, they're worried about the little kids, but they're really not worried about the little kids, they're worried about us. So there's a difference though between remakes and remastering. A remake specifically is the intent to remake an older game into a newer game by changing some of the functional, uh, base level foundational uh mechanics of the game itself. Now, if it's going from one console to another, of course, the uh uh the way that the game plays, the controls would be different. Um, if it's going from one type of console, say maybe uh the uh Dreamcast and moving up to the Sony PS4, PlayStation 4, sorry, uh that it may have a complete overhaul in T uh in terms of some of the uh characteristics of the characters and how it's laid out. But the main storyline and most of the main cast will stay the same. That's the core of a remake. Remastering is when they take the game, they make it pretty. It's literally a lick of paint. That's what a remaster is. So if you see sometimes a HD version or an HD 2.5 version, even sometimes a remix, not shooting shots, I'm just saying what they call them. Um those are normally called remasters where they bring up the piano and they make it sound beautiful. Um so don't be confused between the differences between those two. So if you have any questions about some of the games that we talk about, feel free to hit us up on any of our social media handles, and we'll be sure to defend ourselves uh promptly. So uh let's begin. I'm gonna go ahead and throw out some of mine. Oh, actually, let me give you some examples of remakes. So a great example, and I think we're all uh um privy to it, is Pokemon Fire Red and Leave Green. So if you remember the original version of them, we had you know the standard Pokemon Red, blue, and yellow, and then we had the next iteration, gold and silver, and then the next one. So each individual series uh then had a remake, and the remake literally took now, granted, all Pokemon games are really remakes of themselves, but we're not gonna let's go ahead and say it. Let's go ahead and say it. Each each season, as I'll call them, has had a specific type of game and then a remake of it. Well, not all of them, but you know, a good amount of them. Um, I mean, some people even say, for example, um, what is it? Uh was it Pearl? Was it Pearl that was after Diamond and Pearl?
SPEAKER_04Diamond and Pearl. Oh, Diamond. Ruby and Sapphire came after Golden Silver.
SPEAKER_14What was after Golden Silver?
SPEAKER_04Ruby Sapphire, Sapire, wasn't there a third one for Golden Silver?
SPEAKER_14Emerald. Emerald, there it is. So Emerald, some people say is quote unquote the remake of Golden Silver. Not necessarily. There was a whole nother uh uh legendary and a bunch of other things that were changed, although the map was the same. But fire, uh Fire Red, Leaf Green, Pokemon Alpha Sapphire, and Omega Ruby, those will be considered remakes of their original, either Sapphire and Ruby or Green and Red. Then you had the Legend of Zelda uh series. They've had the Orkne of Time 3D or Majora's Mask 3D. Also, they had different iterations of the Link to the Past, the Phantom Hourglass from the original NES moved up into the 3DS or the DS uh versions. Uh Metal Gear Solid, I think we can all agree, has had, it may not be the most remakes, but it's had quite a lot of them. Um then there's Crash Bandicoot, recently has had its remake. Um Shadow of the Colossus has had its remake, as well as Ratchet and Clank is another game that has had its remake. So when you're thinking of remakes, we're specifically talking about games that have had older versions on previous consoles or PC versions that have been turned into a brand new game, even though it has the same storyline and baseline characters. So you can have a remake. Uh, what's a good example is um Darksiders uh 2 specifically. Darksiders 2 had an original version on PS2, I believe, and then had a remake on PS uh 3 and 4. I'm sorry, it was on 3 and then it was on 4, where they added a whole new arc into the game, cleaned it up, made it nice, made it pretty, and changed some of the game functionality. That's the pre pretty much the concept of a remake. Now, I've been talking about remakes for a very long time. I'm gonna let somebody else talk.
SPEAKER_11So, um who wants to go first? I think it should be hmm. Who would attack the Skittles first? That's what's up.
SPEAKER_15That's that's ridiculous.
SPEAKER_05No attacks, only opinions. Um yeah, it's interesting. So at first I didn't think of you know the Pokemon games. Um, but yeah, like those are a lot of remakes I've never really considered. And I think you're thinking of Crystal with um crystal.
SPEAKER_14There it is, crystal.
SPEAKER_05You know, um but for me, like in terms of like what I think is I guess we're asking what's our favorite remake or we think is the greatest remake.
SPEAKER_06Yeah.
SPEAKER_05Um it has got to be trials of mana. So if you grow up the mana series, mostly action RPGs, uh quite a few games. Umana is definitely the remake I've enjoyed the most. And when I evaluate remakes, I think a few things, or I look at a few things. So it's nice to improve the storyline or flesh that out. That's not as critical to me if the original story was really good, you know, but the biggest thing I look at is improvements in like game design. So like battle mechanics in the way characters develop abilities, like in the way, you know, how kind of single player metagame develops as you go through it. And to date, I have not found a single game, in my opinion, that has improved so dramatically on the design characteristics as Child of Mana did for its original um Psychic and Set 23 back on the Super Nintendo. Like everything that was really issued, they made so much better. The original action combat was like pretty choppy and slow and you know, it was difficult. It's so much more fluid in the remake. Um, the way characters grow is so much more nuanced. They add all these abilities, and they're just so much more granular paths that can take characters down as opposed to just getting two new spells. Like you have this huge list of abilities with each class change. You know, they added task abilities that didn't exist in the original version. And so just looking at this game, well, one, it's an amazing game on its own. It's something that I've put in about a hundred hours in so far. You know, um, absolutely amazing. But even just looking at what they've built upon, they improved upon virtually every single thing in this incredible, like really noticeable way. And that's why for me, like that is my best remake, like by a wide margin.
SPEAKER_12Wait, anybody start off?
SPEAKER_15I got a suggestion for a remake. I don't have a suggestion for what I think is the best one because it's I was actually in um I've been playing Darksiders 2. Actually, funny part you mentioned that I've been I just hopped off that for hop on it. But uh but um but uh I have a couple suggestions for remakes, starting with uh because like Paper Mario has gotten so big, yeah, and because of where that started, I would like to see Mario RPG taking place in the seven-star universe. I would like to see that come back. Like I was I I've been watching the paper. I haven't played the last one, but I was actually just looking at a review for it as I'm watching the combat. I'm like, man, I miss like how that original Mario RPG worked out and how it played. I missed the characters of that, but how they had the story work out was really cool, especially when like at some point they changed up the enemy completely for Sumario RPG, and you ended up that was the first time you ended up really working with Bowser.
SPEAKER_12Yep.
SPEAKER_15And I thought that was a really cool concept. I would like to see that story come back. Um, but uh, but you know, the real game I would like to see redone is um, and that's mainly not to go at uh not to go at Miss Skittles, but this is mainly because of Final Fantasy VII uh redesign. Here we go. I want to see Legend of Dragoon come back because I remember when that came out, and that was supposed to be like that was a Final Fantasy killer. This was for Vagrant Story came out and like Square Eaters went on to do 50 million other RPGs, but like it's like a bunch of franchises that gets kind of left in the wind. But that Legend of Dragoon, since they can't, since because of how it ended, you can't really do a part two to it. I would like to see a remake done to that because that combat system was really different at the time with the whole you're they keep you active even during when it's caught turn based. They kept you active with kept the you keep moves going by pressing square at the right time so you can get to the next move and press square at the right time. And then if you do the combo complete, that would be the name of the move type thing. I would like to see something like that come back. If it's not action RPG, then I would like to see that happen again. Or I would like to see uh Legend of Legend come back. That was a whole fighting game and RPG. I would like to see that come back. That was one of the most interesting like ways of doing turn-based that I had ever seen at that time. And I would love to see how it would be done now or how they can make that work out in terms of uh how that comedy, a lot of this is just combat-based. The stories were were they were cheesy, but at the time they were Legend of Dragon Moon was probably one of the best stories out of that because of how they just had they kept throwing like little turns, twist and turns at you left and right. Even when they got to the first three discs, and it was like at the end of the third disc, they were like, here's another twist that you know that kind of kills your whole main quest in the first place, and then changes, flips it to a whole nother main quest when you find out what happened to your village, who did it, you know, who the king is, stuff like that. So I would really like to see those, one of those two, if not both, remade since they did just do Final Fantasy VII, which is obviously means that they're running out of ideas at this point. And that's the fact the fact that they got they can't think of another, they can't think of another idea.
SPEAKER_03No, it's where easy is not a good idea.
SPEAKER_09Like, um that's my so for real, for real, square like when when I was younger, uh before they were squares, like I was I was I was square soft. I I'm I was trying to be on everything, like everything they made, I was on that. And I wanted to be a part of the company. I was gonna I was about to put it in the end, like I didn't do the whole thing, so don't don't be respectful.
SPEAKER_11Like you noticed that the whole thing I was wrong today on the end of the day.
SPEAKER_15That's no disrespect, but she never said I was wrong. You noticed that she never said I was wrong for what I said. She just said, hey, you can word it better.
SPEAKER_02That's true. That's true. Jesus, she said, What is your mouth?
SPEAKER_03Hold up now. Try it carefully.
SPEAKER_14You kind of jumped in there to defend. Do you have uh something to input? Good uh the good or a remake?
SPEAKER_09So so I want to pay a little homage to uh Kingdom Hearts because um the the original Kingdom Hearts uh was it Chain Chain of Memories?
SPEAKER_04Rechain of Memories?
SPEAKER_09Yes. So that was shit.
SPEAKER_04I hated that shit so much.
SPEAKER_09A lot of people didn't even know about it. Like it was like like a card game type deal.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, they had this weird card battle system. Yes, uh Game Boy Vince, right?
SPEAKER_09Right, right.
SPEAKER_04So I think um No, it was SP because it was the first one SP. Sorry, Tim.
SPEAKER_09No, that's okay. Uh I think I think that deserves a little a little, you know, like a little praise because when it came out, the the hype that was around this game, and then when I when I played it, it was like, oh my god, like I've never I've never played anything like Kingdom Hearts before. Um and then uh to learn that it was a whole remake was like, oh, well who was playing this other game? Like actually this because when when the remake came out, everybody was on it. I I mean a lot of people was on it, and and I don't know if that was just you know, just because of you know promotion material, but um here we are years later. Right, there's multiple versions of this remake that nobody even knew about the first one or played or appeared, or you know, like so I think I think that game has come too far from from where it started at. You know, like I said, I when I played the first one, the remake, I thought it was the first version of that game. So um so yeah, that to me says a lot about um the the game itself as far as um just coming back from nothing. Almost I mean, to me it's nothing.
SPEAKER_04I did not get through reaching the memories when they um remade it for the PlayStation because I thought it was trash. I was like I hated it so much. I remember when the when um when it came out initially for the Game Boy Advance SP, because it was big, because it was like it was like the first game that really pushed I think that sys that handheld system to its limits and had all these like really intense cinematics that you saw in Kingdom Hearts 1 that you that no one else, I don't think anyone at the time was doing for like a handheld. And and I think and so the card battle system and the way they had the way it was set up for the Game Boy of Ancest SP, I thought maybe the reason I hated it was because I'm playing on a PlayStation and not a handheld, and I felt like that that that like battle system didn't translate well. So I was like, why do I have to collect cards? And when you run out of cards and you just have a controller in your hand and you play the first Kingdom Hearts, you're like, I didn't have to do this shit a while ago, but now I gotta fuck around around with this deck of cards like I'm Yu-Gi-MoT or some shit, and I'm like on my laptop. That angered my spirits. I will I will in good consciousness say that that is the only Kingdom Hearts, well, that's the first Kingdom Hearts game that I picked up and immediately put back down. If I put it on the Game Boy Advanced SP, I probably wouldn't have done that because like I was still young, I was younger at the time, and I was like, oh shit, you know, Kingdom Hearts is still hot, fresh. Let me go ahead and get my Game Boy Advanced, you know, I plan the sheets with my light on the screen, so I don't get caught with it because you know I gotta go to school next day and shit. So I was ready. I was ready at the time. But I, you know, you know, you can only ask for only so much in a black household growing up. But but I wanna one thing on one game, I guess, where I want to introduce that I think really needs a remake, is because one, this is one is a show that's really close to my heart. And I was excited when the when the fighter for this game came out, and I was like, shit, this is about to be amazing, and it's one piece burning blood.
SPEAKER_06Yeah.
SPEAKER_04And I was in, and like I will say, I promise you, like I I was excited when the game came out. I've been following it, I followed all the promotions, I followed all like the gameplays. I went and picked the game up from GameStop. I popped it in, played it. No, I popped it in, you know, went to work, came back at the end of my day, started playing it. I immediately took it back to the store that same day. And the game, it looked wonderful. Like the graphics really highlighted the actual animation in the anime. Like, for all intents and purposes, the game looked beautiful. Oh no, it's gorgeous.
SPEAKER_12It played just what you expect from One Piece Fighters.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, it played terribly. Like, it was like after having spent so many years playing the Honara to Ultimate Storm games, and then there's a One Piece game that comes out that's supposed to be like, it's you know, a good J Fighter, it it under it underserved because it was really clunky. Moving around felt so laggy, even when even if you if you were just playing it by yourself in your room, like it moved it was like if you're pressing right, like the characters wouldn't start moving until maybe like a second and a half later, and all of the attacks didn't chain well. They did not um yeah, it it it they made the stages like way too large for the characters to move around in the way that they were moving.
SPEAKER_14I I remember playing the demo, and they had me fighting against uh Bartholomew, and he was in the center of the stage. It was the stage at in um in Dress Rosa. I was Luffy, and I remember trying to get closer to him, but because of the controls, they made me run around the edge of the arena. So he like starts walking towards me, shifting, walking towards me, shifting, walking. I was like, how how do I get closer to him? I just I like zoom in front of him, then he like palms me, and then I die. I was like, Yeah, it's a good thing this is a demo.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, listen, yeah. No, that that that really hurt my heart because I love One Piece so much. And then to have the game really just fall flat like that was a huge disappointment. So I think it deserves another chance, but I don't know what they would do. Like, like I don't know what they would need to modify as far as whatever engine they were using, but that was depressing. I'm sorry, that was depressing.
SPEAKER_14I mean, if I was going to agree with you, I mean I do agree with you, they should remake it. It would probably need to be like a mix of um jump force and um uh what's the one piece game that just recently came out? Um not um Pirate Warriors. Pirate Warriors, like the character model of Pirate Warriors, but with the fighting style of um Jump Force, in my opinion. A lot I know a lot of people prefer like the the side-scrollers, but or rather the two two-person fighters or three-person fighters or three on three fighters. But I personally I like the Naruto style of fighting if you do it right. Naruto's been doing it right for a very long time, um, Shinope fighters, strikers. But all you have to do is just, you know, kind of try your best to. I'm I'm sure you're all you're all shown in. I'm sure they'll share the secrets. Just recreate it, throw in the characters, change a couple of the shit. And you good, but they just they don't want to do it. I don't know.
SPEAKER_04I think another game that will fall into that category would be the Kill Out Kill Fighter that came out. I didn't actually play it. Yeah, that's why it needs a remake. I don't know what they did to that game. I didn't even play it. Oh yeah. I didn't I played the first one. The first one was weird because they added mechanics in that didn't make sense as far as the show was concerned. It was like they added a wall running mechanic. I'm like, everyone can't stand on the wall. I don't know. I'm like, why is Todoroki just standing on the side of the wall? Just like it's normal.
SPEAKER_02Like blocking, like nice running.
SPEAKER_09No, you know what just popped in my head because you guys said power, power stone. Y'all, oh my god. That would be a dope ass remake.
SPEAKER_05That would be beautiful.
SPEAKER_09Yo I used to be on that shit every day, like all day.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, I'm uh Miss uh Sayone, do you happen to have a a game that you you've played that you really thought was a good remake or that should have a good remake?
SPEAKER_01Um, so the games that I usually play are like Tekken, Dynasty Warriors, a couple platform games of my childhood, such as Croc and Pandemonium. So those are like my favorite games that I think that like croc and pandemonium, because it was this cute little crocodile, you know, traversing different worlds and picking up gems. And I thought it was, I don't think it was as popular as it should be because it was just so cute and different. And then Pandemonium to me was I think I was in elementary school when I came out as PS1 game side scroller, uh clown, you know, and that's I remember that game. Yeah, the jester. I love that game. So I can just imagine with a remake, you know, how beautiful the world would be because it was already like pushing the limits of uh technology when it came out with that PS1, you know, console. So I think those have been some really good remakes. Unamisha is another remake that I would love to do.
SPEAKER_12That would be kind of gorgeous, especially after Ghost just came out. Oh my god. Yes, oh my goodness.
SPEAKER_09I was posing in after my birthday.
SPEAKER_04I got it for my anniversary.
SPEAKER_01And um, I I got a couple um requests on my Facebook. I I was asking the question of which uh game would they consider a really good remake? And I had saw a lot of Final Fantasy VII and a couple of Resident Evil 2.
SPEAKER_09But they remade Resident Evil 2. So like a remake remake.
SPEAKER_01It's only 125 and Tiffany just coming for everybody's topic.
SPEAKER_11Uh Legal season is what they do.
SPEAKER_01We're just getting into brunch hour. I'm like, damn, what's going on? Um I think the game that really deserves a remake is Dead Space 3. I was disappointed and I was a huge Dead Space fan because of all of the horror sci-fi games, it was a classic. I wasn't a huge Doom um player, but I do know it's kind of, you know, outer space, yeah, aliens. But uh with Dead Space, I remember when the trailer came out for the first one and I didn't know what the hell it was about. It was kind of like watching Cloverfield trailer. It was you didn't know what the fuck you were in for until you were in it. So um Dead Space just gave this feel of isolation and you were completely alone. You can um, you know, control how dark the screen was. You had all these little weird creatures coming at you, and you can figure out oh, I think that used to be a baby. Is that placenta coming after me? Oh, this is really bad.
SPEAKER_04So that sounds like playing the Dante's in front of a video game. It's not like whole tribulation.
SPEAKER_03Just like Paul's like, what is that? Oh my god.
SPEAKER_01We saw this like boomer looking guy, and well, I I thought it was the guy, but I think it could be like a baby boomer? No, no. Like a boomer from a boomer from like um Left for Dead. I called it a boomer, like the really big guy that would explode and the stomach would explode. So yeah, like in um in Dead Space, it was uh this really big person, and they their stomach exploded, and we saw a little placenta. So I thought maybe it was a pregnant person that turned into an animal, most likely. So I I love Dead Space, but Dead Space 3 was such a disappointment. It was supposed to be couch co-op and EA8 shit. So they agree with that.
SPEAKER_14Oh hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, talk about it.
SPEAKER_04You know what? Why are we all EA? Oh no. I'm never gonna get my Harry Potter Quitters World Cup remake. If there was any sports game that I got my life on for like years, it was Harry Potter Quitters World Cup, and I'm never gonna get another one.
SPEAKER_01So yeah, so we we deserve, you know, the Dead Space 3 on what was promised to us, couch co-op, you know. But again, for me, I'm very old school in the sense I like to have someone right next to me playing because you can feed off of that energy, that in-person energy. It's so different when it's online play. You don't have anybody gassing you up, like oh yeah, yeah, man. You know what I'm saying? You're just there, like, oh, good job, guys.
SPEAKER_04And it's like all right, everybody, good work, good work.
SPEAKER_01All right, yeah. So those are my picks.
SPEAKER_10Okay. Uh Kaze, what is the good or the remakeable? All right. So so many directions we can go.
SPEAKER_04Giggity. Wait, should I go first?
SPEAKER_10Because it seems like you're about to give us a thesis.
SPEAKER_06I mean, I got my promotion five.
SPEAKER_02Uh let's see. Uh actually, uh my mom's up to take it back to uh where Shamble was kind of taking it. Uh by say he mentioned he mentioned Legend of Dragoon. That was that was that was my initial choice.
SPEAKER_15Oh my bad.
SPEAKER_02Uh um but uh but no, Legend of Groom was definitely special. I think they definitely uh who whoever whoever uh whoever decided to put the Final Fantasy Killer on the back of that box, they should be shot in the leg. Because uh it was not and people were disappointed.
SPEAKER_07Um, it brought a whole lot of unfair expectations of the game.
SPEAKER_02But um, but like you said, the storytelling, the fighting system, the uh like the the pre-rendered backgrounds, the uh the music, like you know, so many things was special about that game, and it definitely deserves to be uh brought into uh the current the current generation, I think. Um, you know, not only just for nostalgia, but just yeah, I think it'll literally have a space, uh especially with like Final Fantasy VII being remade as a as an actual like uh action RPG, Legend Dragoon can definitely slide right in that lane, uh given how uh active the um the battle system was before. Um but again that's uh I'll I'll I'll leave you know he that was his. Uh I'm going to go with um I mean honestly, most most of my like super NES to PlayStation, like all-star RPGs can probably like be here, but I'm going to pick uh Xeno Gears. Uh Xeno Gears is like just one of the most just like expansive, uh you know, probably not quite as prolific as I thought it was when it came out uh as a teenager, but um just super well-written story, uh like the sheer scope, the uh religious like symbology and iconical iconography. Yeah, thank you. I was gonna leave it on the ground.
SPEAKER_03I ain't gonna let you say that.
SPEAKER_02We can let's hear at the blurring traction.
SPEAKER_03We're gonna pick you back up, we're gonna move you along.
SPEAKER_02I appreciate you. I appreciate you. I was gonna pretend like I ain't dropped nothing either. We're in solidarity here. But uh, but no, and this like this the the character writing, this um, you know, everything. Like it was like it was one of the best experiences. It was something completely different, like in the not only the scope of the story, but the the scope of the fighting system. Like the uh the uh on each character in each combo would have different like different effects and different damages, and it was like animated beautifully, like they had uh 2D sprites against a 3D background, um, and it was super well done. And then and then like and all the characters either had a either had a mech or uh or they can get like super big, like a lot a lot of power ranges, and uh, you know, and and some and uh and and you're gonna and your Mac had a certain amount of gas, you had to decide you know when it was mech time and when you had to stay small and like you know get the fuck out of the way, certain things. Uh but like it was it was one of the most amazing experiences until the second disc. The second disc. Um uh they get the game wasn't done. Oh so the set the you put the second disc in, and you literally have uh the main character sitting in a chair uh with a black background, and you just get paragraphs and paragraphs of exposition sent towards you. Uh the game telling you why. Also, what they did with the last Star Wars, and they would just they would just tell you a bunch of stuff that you wish you played, and then they would just insert you into like a little gameplay section, and then you would pull out the gameplay section, you would jump back in that chair, and they would tell you a whole bunch of more stuff that happened, and it was just like oh my fucking kidding. No, and and what was uh and what was worse was the stuff they were describing was amazing, and it was like, God damn, I wish I could play this, but my dumb ass stuck in this chair. Um so uh yeah, specifically for that reason. Uh I think um I think Xenogear is getting the remake and getting his like true vision. Uh I'm I'm dubious as to how likely that is because I think uh because of Xeno Gears guys, he's he's gone, he's gone on to work for Monolith Soft and do uh, you know, and he and he where he did Xeno Saga and he because uh he's supposed to be like somewhere between 7 to 14 part two. His scope and ideas are way too big for his budget and his time and his team. Um but I think I think he's kind of got what he wanted to do out with the Xeno Saga games and the uh what was the Wii game that just got uh re-remastered, hi just came out. What is it? The Zionadove the Sword. Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_15Xeno, the one that's just coming out on Switch.
SPEAKER_02Um Shulk's the main character.
SPEAKER_15Uh is that two?
SPEAKER_02Uh no, it's a it's a remake of the first one.
SPEAKER_15Hold up real quick.
SPEAKER_02Briefly, Xeno, Xenoblade. Yeah, I'm like, you you would pull Oracle, man.
SPEAKER_07Hold on, Brees.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, he's uh I think he's gotten a lot of his ideas and concepts out uh between Xenosaga and Xenoblade. Um, especially since Xenoblade's more or less been three completely different games now, like barely related. Um but actually finished. Yeah, actually finished. But but none of them like quite catch like the the the magic and the scope and the storytelling that uh the Xenogears like really like attempted to reach for. Uh you know, Xenosaga was close, but it was ultimately like its own game. So I would definitely love to uh go back and uh see if we can make that happen.
SPEAKER_12That was beautiful. That was so artistically given to us. I I I didn't even play it and I feel like I was there.
SPEAKER_01You can see the look in Kaze's eyes, you know, it just gave us so such conviction. I was there. I know.
SPEAKER_04I even heard like that. I I I felt the pain, I felt the draw.
SPEAKER_09I just feel like it's so disrespectful to give your patrons a game like that. Like what? Like, who the hell? Who said this is a good idea? We gotta get this done, put them in the chair, tell everybody what happened.
SPEAKER_04Like what you put on hold off and give me a sequel, goddamn. Yeah, we played that game till this one.
SPEAKER_05So I had the idea like this two.
SPEAKER_09Why?
SPEAKER_00Who did this? Horrible.
SPEAKER_06What in the world?
SPEAKER_04That's bad. Yeah. That's bad. Definitely a shame. So you got everybody upset. We I can't even come on the mind.
SPEAKER_03Dear Mr. I am a white gamer in Soy page to that moment.
SPEAKER_14All right. So I mean, I I I I can't beat that, uh, I can't beat that speech. I've uh I can't at all. Um, but I will say, um, I am a and I think most people who know me in my gaming taste, I'm a I'm in love with the Legend of Zelda series, uh, without a shadow of a doubt. I love everything about it, every single one of the games. I've played probably 70% of everything they've released, purchased and played, bought guides as well, because I like the support. Um uh so that is my good. I love I loved the remaster. Well, first of all, my favorite. Well, I'm not gonna tell you about it. Anyway, so I specifically the remastering of Orc Ring of Time and the remastering of Majora's Mask on the 3DS and the DS were great. They, you know, allowed the the graphics to really come alive, especially in modernized, at that time, modernized technology. Um, some of the add-ons in terms of the music that they used in Majora's Mask and the different environments and the different enemies that they added were great. Um uh some of the remakes that they did uh for their NES to 3DS were also great as well, like a Link to the Past, um, and those specific games.
SPEAKER_08Link's Awakening was it Link's Awakening?
SPEAKER_14Link's Awakening. Yeah, precisely remake. I would say the one thing that I would love that they would do in terms of Redeemable is that they would take the um if they're going to do a remake, the remake just doesn't go to a handheld. Now, granted, technically the switch is now the handheld, so I guess whenever they do a remake, it's literally gonna be on a handheld and a console. Um, so I guess we're fine now. But before, I was like, I can't wait for Orcarina of Time and Major's Mass to come out, and then they put it on a handheld. Although I had it, I was like, but you have a GameCube and a Wii and a Wii U. I I want to play it on these consoles, but you know, that's they're here there now. Um my Redeemable um oh my also uh remake rather, uh, I really wanted them to do um a remake of uh uh Metroid Prime Echoes. So I love the I love the Metroid Prime series. I played all of them, including Other M, which most people didn't want to play. Um I actually Other M is another one they should do a remake on because that storyline, they had the writer's book, the book. Honestly, kind of going along with what uh Kaze said about that secondary disc, they had a book and a storyline, like a literally a graphic novel inside the game that was so detailed about the life of who this main character was, which wasn't Sam, this was a whole nother uh bounty hunter, a whole other uh person. And they had such a backstory and explanation. Uh it literally looked like they were about to create an animated series or animated movie. I was excited. I was like, oh, is this about to be other N after other M? Or I guess O would come after M. Anyway, so actually N is after M too. Anyway, so right I was I was I was really excited that this was. And uh uh it just turned out to be this like kind of booklet. I still have it to this day, but like the game, the game play kind of as you went on, it ignored all of these graphic points. Like it told the story of these people that you read their um their journals or their diaries that were left after they died, and they talked about these no amazing people. I thought they were gonna, this was an opportunity for them kind of to do a prologue to Other M or talk about, you know, uh whoever this cadet was back in their military days at the c at the cadet academy, something, but they just kind of left it there, gave us this beautiful bound book, and said, you know, be happy. I wasn't happy. I spent a lot of money on that ultimate edition of Other M. So uh yeah. So now uh now it's time to talk about the bad. What are the remakes and the non-redeemable ones? What are the ones that should have either stopped it before it came out or the ones that we just said it can't happen, it's just not good. Now I I know I'm gonna get flat for this. I'm not even worried about it because it's my personal opinion. Um I'm I'm I I deserve it. So I'm gonna say it's my opinion, which is Kingdom Hearts, and every single one of their remakes are unnecessary. 2.5 the remix, magic 102.3 the remix, slash top 7 over there in the ocean land, part 285. I was like, it's on I I remember in high school when Kingdom Hearts 2 came out and everybody was excited and was like, yo, they told us Kingdom Hearts 3 is coming out tomorrow. I was like, all right, bet. When I got into college, they was excited. They was like, yo, the remix was that was the itch. Kingdom Hearts 3 about to come out. I was like, all right, bet. When is it coming out? Next month. Oh, great. I remember in graduate school when they were like, oh, Kingdom Hearts 3 is about to come out. Oh, it's about to be the inch when it's coming out. Oh, at the end of next year, bet.
SPEAKER_04I am not 20 years.
SPEAKER_14They filled these people with so many remakes, remixes, remasters, HD versions. Like, I didn't even know you had enough consoles to put these games on, and people bought every single one. Personally, I felt as though if you really felt like you couldn't do it, you should have just told them from the get go look, wait till.
SPEAKER_04Hold on, stop, stop, stop. You cannot expect Disney to do anything and ever have a moment like that. The motherfuckers have too much time and too much money and too much pull into too many different fandoms for them to ever say. Oh, we can't do it. Oh no, we will. We can. And you're gonna wait for it.
SPEAKER_14I prefer that. Windows 10 came out, windows 7, 8. I mean, well, granted, we didn't get nine, but yeah, we got a number. I'd rather you do Kingdom Hearts 10 than just the two really 2.1, 2.5, 2.5, the remix, 2.5, 2.
SPEAKER_04No, because all those were were just console remakes of the handheld games they already had. So I agree with you that they were unnecessary because it was just like they were just trying to get more because then I think they knew that everybody wasn't gonna play their handheld games and everyone was gonna buy a different handheld just to play a different Kingdom Hearts game every single time. But they had a consistent enough console following where they're gonna be like, okay, well, uh, you know, people are invested enough in this story to go in this franchise to go ahead and just buy these console versions of the game, which would be more accessible for them to play and easier for them to get through, because at a certain point they were just compounding like three different two or three different games into one disc, which was cool because then you wouldn't have you did it's good because you didn't have to waste time buying like three or four different games separately, so you can just go ahead and buy one disc while I'm on there. Now, in that way, I don't I don't think it was a waste of time because now you they've consolidated a lot of a lot of playtime, well, I'll say a lot of game and money into one disc. But otherwise, no, I I I agree, Juno was necessary. I I I'm a fan of the Kingdom Hearts franchise. I'm well aware, I'm well aware of its drawbacks. I'm well aware of I'm well aware of all the shitty things that Kingdom Hearts did. Like I think they had way too much back, they tried to have way too much retroactive storytelling for the actual game series.
SPEAKER_14So I think we're gonna have to have a Kingdom Hearts 3 episode where I think we would actually just need to have you and your colleagues on the board of Disney are going to explain to us exactly what The Feasive did Skyrim on every system since it came out.
SPEAKER_12One more time?
SPEAKER_15Is this like how The Feasor did Skyrim? Because I know I kept hearing about they had the remake, the remake, the remake, and I was like, I'm not playing idiots. I'm not gonna be able to do that.
SPEAKER_04I know they did a remake, I know they remastered Skyrim, but I don't think they yeah, I think they remastered. I think that was a remaster. I wasn't thinking of the full game. Yeah. And hand out because when Skyrim came out, people were losing their lives, people weren't doing, people were were not leaving homes. I skipped so many classes just to play Skyrim went out in college. That game was addictive, and I think they were trying to capitalize on it again by like re-releasing it, but it's like after you play through it one time and you've done everything in it, it's fine. Like you, I like I I thought that was a waste of time too. Like that didn't work.
SPEAKER_06It was a great it was a great game.
SPEAKER_02Most of the Skyrim's were ports. Yeah. It's just we you you're looking at a screen, Skyrim should be on it. Yep.
SPEAKER_04And you know, and then with Disney. You're looking at a screen, Disney should be on it.
SPEAKER_13Because Disney got a brand that's saying it to remaster.
SPEAKER_05Well, yeah, no, a lot of the replayability I think came from mods too, because Skyrim is adding, you know, really huge.
SPEAKER_04So ridiculous. Yeah. And hilarious.
SPEAKER_15That was like somebody uh did the whole they pretty much released a whole new game on Skyrim. Like a whole new game for you to play. It it just re- it pretty much they redid the drug and now pass it back out to the to the drug.
SPEAKER_04But you know what? I want to use that as the segue to my table flip. I think that a game that needs to be uh I'll say a franchise that absolutely needs to be reassessed, that needs to be reassessed as far as the remakes is Pokemon. Like I absolutely think that it's time for Pokemon's RPG series to do a major overhaul. Not to the extent of something like Skyrim, but something that's much more interactive than the simple turn based and random mini-games that they do insert into their games.
SPEAKER_09What something like Go?
SPEAKER_02I was about to say backwards.
SPEAKER_14It can't be backwards if it's technologically futuristic. What I was gonna say was like, I I do, you know, we've had this conversation. I do agree, something different should and needs to be done with the franchise in terms of the gameplay. But when it's it's almost like they try to like based off of, I'm sure they had like a meeting and they're like, okay, well, what can we do? And I'm sure they the develop different teams to develop different things to see what works with these different types of games. That's how they came up with uh Pokemon Snap. That's how they came up with Pokemon Go. That's how they came up with Pokemon Stadium, that's how they came up with Poken. That's how they came up with what was it, a uh Mystery Dungeon. That's how they came up with like all these different iterations, which are, or or Pokemon was a let's go Eevee and Pikachu. They they threw out all these different things to see exactly which what's gonna bite, what are people gonna buy? But then they go back, what's their cash cow? It's the main franchise and all of their accessories that come with it, all of the games and the new Pokemon and the t-shirt and the merchandise. So I agree, but what would they do?
SPEAKER_02Um I have uh well just a pushback on it's it's but you say you can't go backwards with technologically advanced when you know Windows XP and Windows 10 exist.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I was I was definitely without that left on the ground, you know what you did. I was gonna say this one. Like I said on the blood circle, get things back up. We ain't gonna leave you there.
SPEAKER_02But I remember uh I remember first uh and then and it's and I'm I'm on topic, just give me a second. I remember when I first played um EverQuest and I realized what a uh massively multiplayer online game was, and uh in the in this, you know, the scope of that and interaction and playing for all the different people and and me learning what EverQuest was, uh like like to me that was practice for what Pokemon was supposed to be. And I and I've been waiting for this Pokemon MMO with just like you just going out into the world. And I mean, honestly, it's it's almost like a uh it's uh it's almost like uh it's almost like the wild area is like almost hinting at. It's just like you just walk out there and it's just in the Pokemon out there and you see like ghosts and shadows of people, and it was like, so y'all know this is a good idea, you know this is what people want. Yep. It's just just just go. Go ahead and do it.
SPEAKER_14So I mean, one good thing you just said is like it's hinting at it. So you don't feel like right now, because Pokemon Go came out, and then now they did uh uh Pokemon, what was the name of this game? Uh Sword and Shield. You don't feel like maybe it's kind of like, okay, we're now about to potentially use these two ideas together, whereas though you can go wherever you want with your Switch or your phone, and then you can battle people with the Pokemon that's that you've collected and you've trained in the game. Maybe they'll cohesively unify them. Maybe that's what they're hinting or moving towards.
SPEAKER_02I mean, honestly, just based off.
SPEAKER_04Can't you do that already? That's what local play is. Like they you pick up, you pick up on the person that's next to you, and you can go ahead and play them. You can even do that with Yu-Gi-Oh! Legacy of the duelist. Like, it's not even so much that they're trying, they they need to like make this cohesive, like, hodgepodge between Sword and Shield and Pokemon Go. Honestly, Pokemon Go is just an experiment that I think got the layman individual who fell out of the actual like turn-based game back into Pokemon. It didn't even re-in- it didn't even reintroduce turn-based, it just added this kind of random mechanic that didn't give people the opportunity to actually have to think too much about a lot of anything. Um, but I I in my I'll say my mindset is more so like if I had a Pokemon game that was closer to what Skyrim was, then I would be more invested. I would be more invested in the franchise and more invested in how adventurous they want to be with the actual properties they cut out. Because all the properties you named, like even when it kind, even when it came to like Let's go Pikachu and Let's go Eevee, those were essentially the same Pokemon games that they try to incorporate Pokemon Go into them. You weren't really doing anything too different. You were still playing the same JRPGs you've been playing for the past 20 plus years. There's but they were just like, oh, we're gonna add this extra element so you kind of are incentivize to play Pokemon Go. And even when it came to the mystery dungeon games, those weren't really adventurous RPGs either. They were just pretty much standard, standard JRPGs that gave you, I don't know, something cute to look at. Like there wasn't anything revolution, there wasn't anything very, really revolutionary about them. I think it's at all. All I was saying was No, I guess they were the cash cows, absolutely. Like they weren't gonna do anything too adventurous that put them at risk. And I think poke and tournament wait might be the closest thing to think something that went really went off course, which is some and I think even that could have been done better because I think they tried to incorporate too many unnecessary elements into one game when they could have kind of stuck to a very simple model and still made an amazing game.
SPEAKER_14Um but just to kind of go to kind of kind of hybridize what Kaze and um Champlain were talking about is like if you just go ahead and just take the step forward into what you know your fandom has been talking about wanting for an extremely long period of time, and like the modding, like we were talking about the modding community with the Skyrim, they basically re-redid the entire game and just put the shit back out there, but at no risk to the company itself, because there's too much money at risk if you try to go out on a limb based off of what because it's unless the entire world, your entire population says, Hey, do this and we will pay for it, and you can bona fide say that that's what's going to happen. They can't take that leap. That's why they do the smaller ones that aren't that risky to verify whether or not you guys will like it. So, but Sayone was about to say something. I'm sorry.
SPEAKER_01No, no, you're fine. I I I know that Sushino Sir Shogun, he said something, you know, what is it, Nay, Sayone Tene, or sayone say the nay. Because I'm like, I'm about to say something a lot of people ain't gonna like me on. Is Pokemon that damn good of an anime to have all these games for 20 plus years over and over again about these people catching these damn Bolvadour and Pikachu and all that crap? I'm thinking this is gonna be over as a kid. I'm like, oh cool, I'ma grow up and people will get their senses together. Digimon makes sense. The fuck Pokemon for 20 plus years. I'm saying I'm doing that.
SPEAKER_03Y'all better pass me a traffic election play around this bitch. The time the doors of the church are open.
SPEAKER_01I've been holding my breath and I can't take it no more this day.
SPEAKER_15This was a conversation within it, I guess. This whole conversation we just had, blotted out.
SPEAKER_07It was like this is the last motherfucking time.
SPEAKER_04Because you know what? Digimod has always been adventurous with a game that they have made, and that is why they have always been one of my favorite franchises. They have never been afraid to try different shit every single time, whether it's the manga, whether it's the anime, whether it's the video games, like whatever they're doing, whether the toys, whatever they're doing, they will always venture out and try something new and different and make something so much more nuanced, so much more challenging that Pokemon, in my personal opinion, never has given themselves the capacity to do. Maybe in the manga, but otherwise, it's relatively the same, it's relatively the same thing. It's the same, like the same freaking money.
SPEAKER_14It's it's the same thing as a company that does something over and over again and continues to give you a profit or some type of not profit, sorry, product. As long as they're getting some type of return investment or some type of revenue, they're not gonna change. It's like what's that uh anecdote? If it's not broke, don't fix it. Now, I will say, and you can tell as time has gone on, they've made small, very small, like the anime, for example, in the manga, they've made certain changes. They've tried to move into a different scope of how they present themselves. And it's probably this is only a guess, but it's probably because of the newer, possibly younger individuals who work at the company who are giving their input saying, Well, why why don't we try this? Why don't we do that? Let's move into this direction. That's how we're getting these small, small idiosyncrasies that are slightly changing the model of how it works. Will I disagree with you in saying that Digimon is a franchise that has tried something new every iteration? No, I 100% agree. Every single time they release something, it is different in some way, shape, or form. I mean, there are trees of Digimon I couldn't even possibly fathom at all. With Pokemon, because they're building on the it's it's almost like, and I hate to go into like a teaching lesson, but it's like computers. There's a base level that they know works. All they're doing is stacking on top of the base level. It's the original 150. They're just stacking on top of what they know works because the core level, they know is gonna give them some type of revenue. And they're just trying to see, uh, maybe we'll try this. Maybe we'll try that. Oh, let's add this. Oh, let's try that to see what works, but they're still trying to make sure they have some type of revenue.
SPEAKER_04And I get that, and that's not foreign to me, but I think the the the dissonance is I'm thinking from a creative standpoint, like as a as a creative and as someone who creates and as someone who imagines things consistently, I'm always thinking of, okay, well, what needs to be the next thing? What needs to be the next step? What needs to be the more expansive and more challenging idea in this realm? And Pokemon has not brought that to me at all. I understand the business aspect of it, and I think that's part of the danger of what happens when we start talking about remakes and remakes. Um when we look at it.
SPEAKER_15I think I might piss somebody off with this. So tell me is that Game Freaks and Pokemon is EA with Madden. What'd you just say? Game Freaks and Pokemon. What you just said was Game Freaks and Pokemon is EA romantic, except they're not doing it on a yearly basis like EA does. EA's not running the sports, running the sports people every freak every single year. Game Freaks waits about two, three years. It's like, get something else. Well almost as it's almost the same as that game. Because every you have the Pokemon Red and Blue, Pokemon um yellow, Pokemon, what was it, silver, Pokemon?
SPEAKER_04Pokemon gold, Pokemon Silver, Crystal, Pearl, Diamond, Ukraine, what else? Um Alpha Alpha Sapphire, Omega Creep.
SPEAKER_15Mad in 2005, Mad in 2006, Mad in 2008. Mag in 2008. Changes, slight changes every year, but it's still the same game.
SPEAKER_14I'm not denying what you're saying in any way, everyone was here there, right?
SPEAKER_01You know, simple, like I wanted to add on to that. I remember I was a little girl and I was watching my brother play Madden, and I'm like, damn, there must be some magical beat stuff in this game for him to keep buying this game every single year, like it's something brand new. I'm like, bro, is there like a is there like the illusion in there?
SPEAKER_04Like, do you win a game and unlock the philosopher's stone, bitch? I need to know. Did you get the game of the world?
SPEAKER_01What is it? Because it's the same fucking characters I see every year. So I don't understand why y'all are going crazy every year. That is okay. Oh, the same one.
SPEAKER_05I will push back a little bit in that. I think for most of Pokemon's history, probably not the most recent generations, but I think they've really made a better game in their main series with each success generation. I really didn't want. I think they've added some core mechanics when it came to you know, like how technical machines work, how types work and the moves that you know Pokemon had access to and diversifying Pokemon. I think they really did well with that. It is definitely a safe approach in a lot of ways. You know, talking about Mystery Dungeon, I wish Mystery Dungeon would lean harder into roguelike mechanics. Yeah. Not completely, but kind of. Like I think they'll benefit from some of that. I think a big thing that leads to why Pokemon starts to feel stale after a while, and you know, um, especially most notably in the last few generations, is that they've really started or they've continually started to prioritize accessibility.
SPEAKER_07Yeah.
SPEAKER_05And in part, that leads to a game that is really, really easy, like almost comically easy. And challenge makes the games interesting. Challenge forces you to think, you know, it forces you, it forces a game to be complex, right? But really Pokemon, you could just take your first third Pokemon, related to the entire game, and have no real problems.
SPEAKER_12Yep.
SPEAKER_04It's actually not that hard to do. And since they re-incor, and since they like integrated experience here just naturally into the game, like you don't even have to really battle with any other Pokemon.
SPEAKER_03I would not like that change.
SPEAKER_02I didn't know before um uh so so many things. Um I'm kind of caught. I'm kind of caught in the middle. Uh for first I'll uh I'll slight push back against the Digimon thing. The uh there are wait, wait, wait.
SPEAKER_14Before you do that, I was no no, because you're looking at ready. I was just about to say this is not the Digimon versus Pokemon episode. We'll be doing that. But go ahead, Kaze.
SPEAKER_02No, no, no. It's uh uh I was just gonna say that you know Digimon isn't a uh isn't a uh isn't a monolith. So like there is it's not it's not like uh a Digimon creative team was like, hmm, we want to do something different. They they're completely different teams, but I just didn't want to give uh them purpose purposeful uh um you know I'm gonna check it all. Yeah, yeah, exactly. It was a part of the design of this yeah thing of games. Uh I think I think the uh I definitely uh agree with Rod. Like Def, I think they uh they have they made like a very, very good product, and and the way that they have improved the product through the details, details that someone like Miss Sayon probably put amiss because you know you just wasn't you weren't there. It's cool.
SPEAKER_03Hey, are you saying this episode trade?
SPEAKER_02I mean there's nothing and there's nothing wrong with that, but it you know, but it's at the same time, it's like you know, it's kind of like you you look from the outside in like, oh, it's things, and we're doing this, is uh it's the same. And yeah, and it is the same, and but we keep we keep we do keep buying that shit for a reason. And there are and and there's a thousand Pokemon for a reason. It literally hasn't been the same because we got a new 150 every single time. It was new new experiences, new, it was, you know, it was new things. Those new things. Those new things weren't weren't for everybody, but you know, that's that's cool. Pokemon's one of the most you know expansive. Yeah, you know, for a reason. I I think I think the main issue with them is definitely like what Rod said is they're they've uh they've relied too much on their safeness. And and especially as as uh as a product that we've grown up with, you know, we we're especi as even as a Nintendo product, we got we can we can look at Mario and Zelda and Metroid and all these other things that kind of grew up with us and and and st and and smash like and even still stay from everybody and kind of evolved. And and and and like and it's Pokemon, it's kind of like you know, it's in it's in that double Dutch line and it doesn't quite make that least. And it's like it is like, come on, baby, you do it.
SPEAKER_04And it's like, you know, and I and I and I and I I I even I'm like no, I'm gonna go I'm gonna go play hot together. I'm gonna add a couple more squares, y'all.
unknownI'll get over there.
SPEAKER_02The president Game Freak didn't believe in the Switch. So they were not working on Pokemon until the Switch was a proven product. So I so I honestly believe that if he had like if you were he paying attention and was it being a uh old old Jap Japanese? He might have.
SPEAKER_04But we did it. You say he might have switched it up a little bit. Thank you. Thank you. That one was free. That one was free.
SPEAKER_02I wish they let uh motive uh innovation motivate their design a bit more than uh what was safe. And uh that and I definitely think we'd have a better Pokemon today if they did.
SPEAKER_14Well, so say you had uh I think you had a final point.
SPEAKER_01Well, um yeah, I was thinking I did enjoy, you know, the Nintendo Game Boy um um what you call it, Pokemon. Like I think it was Pokemon Gold. That was like I was in elementary school, it was like weight Nintendo. I think it was, yeah, it was like a Game Boy, I think.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, because that was a Game Boy Color, I think.
SPEAKER_01But like I I did love it when it was, you know, I feel like Pokemon is one of those games, it's kind of like watching golf. You watch golf, it looks boring as hell. But if you play it's funny, so it's just like it's kind of those things that you just have to play, otherwise looking at this shit is gonna make you fall asleep. So I feel like you know, playing Pokemon, I think is better than actually watching this anime. But then again, um, I I have the same sentiments about Naruto. The game was sick. Like I love the game.
SPEAKER_04Sick amazing, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, the game was just insane. I feel like watching the anime, even now, it's like a spoon feeding me spinach and peas. I don't want to watch this shit. But then again, the game is amazing. Like you see, everything is interactive and it's it's just you know, beautiful, and you actually see the characters in their prime, whereas Naruto has so many of these fluff episodes and bull crap, and it just kind of varies away from the from the natural story. After watching this crap, this kid and like I was like, if you can't believe it every five seconds, believe it. I'm like, I'm so done with this.
SPEAKER_04Okay. I was not a believer then, I'm not a believer now. That's why I just started reading the manga. I was like, I can't do this.
SPEAKER_01But then again, the game was fun. I feel like it's just some of those, some animes are just better, it translates better actually into gameplay because you actually immerse yourself into it. But like watching Pokemon as a child and a grown-ass woman, what is it? Why are people still watching this thing and thinking it's the best thing in the world? I don't know. But um that I'm just saying, I'm gonna be I'm done because I know I'm gonna have a lot of haters at this episode.
SPEAKER_04I mean, I mean, to be fair, I don't think there's a lot of edges on the floor I think need to be picked up because I see a lot of a line there.
SPEAKER_02I don't think anyone is gonna defend the anime. Uh the anime is definitely less it's it's not as popular as it was when we were kids. Yeah, like so they're definitely just kind of turning the wheels, they do interesting things. I mean, part of it is the anime is still for kids, and we and it's not as much as it was a theme song.
SPEAKER_04You can't recreate that magic.
SPEAKER_02Um, you know, I'll I'll I'll uh I'll tune in when I find out that uh somebody went to a Pokemon League or somebody had a real good fight because when the when the fights are good, they are still really good. Yeah, the battles are yeah.
SPEAKER_04And I will say that was alto. Like I would I would read the manga even though I was done and the show was still going. And I was like, you know, I'll go back and watch the episode when my daughter just popped up and started going. That was a beautifully animated episode.
SPEAKER_02Gorgeous.
SPEAKER_14So as we said before, I think we have a good idea of what is the good, the bad, and the redeemable as it pertains to the games that we've chosen. Um, I think we had a lot of final thoughts.
