The Blerds are super excited about this one. After bashing Luther on our Heroes episode, they decided that the whole family needed a break down.

Welcome again to the Blurred Spectrum Podcast. Sorry for scaring you with my loud voice. It's very demanding of attention. Anywho, this week on the Blurred Spectrum Podcast, we are going to we are going to go over the Umbrella Academy. Several of our panelists have um studied this uh piece of art, as they call it, for several weeks. Um, and they believe they are now experts on the subject matter. You be the judge. Um and I'll put us out there like that.
SPEAKER_01Not epic.
SPEAKER_00Not epic. Um actively throw us under the bus. But um, so our panelists today, oh, side note, spoilers. So if you haven't seen the second season, actually, if you haven't seen the first season, I'm sure they're gonna say a bunch of things that you probably don't want to hear, but nothing we can do about it.
SPEAKER_01Should have been on if at this point you haven't seen the first season, then I mean I won't tell you.
SPEAKER_00All right, anyway. So uh our panelists today, starting with myself, Suchino Shogun. Uh, today we have Ms. Skittles, we have the black McCoy, bonjour, we have shampoo bracelet, we have Prince Couson, and we have Kaze. So I'm gonna get this started. They decided that they would like to uh uh task themselves with identifying a uh key uh problem in the series, a reoccurring cog that wasn't fitting in the plan, an individual who, for some apparent reason, just wasn't effective. So I'm just gonna like slowly fade into the back and I'm gonna let them just kind of explain what what this is all about.
SPEAKER_01So on today's episode of why Luther is trash, we're going to talk about Luther. Who wants to go first? I just wanted to say that.
SPEAKER_06It doesn't matter. I mean, okay, so I'll start it because I brought it up in the last episode. How we were talking about um Luther is just ineffective and doesn't belong in the team. Um I don't see a purpose in his strength because nine times out of ten, five is right there and is a lot powerful. So I mean, he was better off on the moon, in my opinion. He's he's not needed in this. We can we swap him out for Lila? That'd be great. Yeah, swap him out.
SPEAKER_07We can even swap him out for Hazel, because if I remember correctly, in the Hazelbook, in the fight between Hazel and Five, or number one, or whatever the hell's name, Luther, if you want to call him that, he doesn't deserve a name. Um but like in the fight between those two, I'm pretty sure Hazel had his like had him like in a win. And Hazel can at least use a gun. Like, when was last time number one was like, hey, let me shoot something. Like, you big and useless.
SPEAKER_01That's really his only thing. The fucked up part is he was all he already had super strength, and then he got fucked up, and then he got injected with some monkey serum, and then he became just big ass strong ape thing. Just like which is wasted on him entirely.
SPEAKER_06He might as well be a wet blanket. Like the way he just like crumbled at the fact that Allison got married again. Again, like you never looked for her, like was it really that serious in the first place? Like you left and went to the moon and she got married. Why is it a big issue now?
SPEAKER_07Also, how you have super strength? You end up in the 1960s, and the best you can do is win fights that are fixed. Right. Really?
SPEAKER_06Thank you.
SPEAKER_07And then on top of that, if your big your major trauma in life is that your dad sent you to the moon for a couple of years, like that is traumatic, right? But not the fact that your dad turns you into a monkey man, like you have a lot of shit.
SPEAKER_01I mean, in Harvey's defense, it did save his life.
SPEAKER_06I mean, it did, but now he just walks around looking like a freaking nature. So, I mean, which one is more a problem for him? Because remember in season two, he opened up your shirt talking about you did this to me. So is it that he's mad about me being a big or is he mad about being on the moon? Like what each other.
SPEAKER_01I mean, again, again, in Reginald Harvey's defense, that's the most interesting thing about Luther.
SPEAKER_06He was waiting so long to say that to his dad. Like, he had he had that pent up his whole life. He could not wait to say that to the children. And and it's so sad because his dad just like, well, and then everybody else just like the funny the funny part, okay.
SPEAKER_01The like the funny part about that entire situation was like Reginald was like Thanos when he met when he came against Scarlet Witch. I don't even know who you are.
SPEAKER_06Like you might as well throw Diego in here, even though he can throw knives and somewhat bend metal. Like, he got red too at that dinner table and he started crying. I'm like, what is going on?
SPEAKER_01I think that I think that's the most telling part about because it's like um because Luther and um Diego have had this very interesting uh dysfunctional toxicity of leadership between the both of them, like fighting for supremacy, even though both of them are the most inadequate members on that team.
SPEAKER_07Yes. Hands down.
SPEAKER_01And and I and I say that knowing exactly who Klaus is as a person.
SPEAKER_06But that goes to a point where Klaus can get drunk or high and still be more effective than one and two, to be fair.
SPEAKER_07You know, Klaus was only like addicts, like an addict addicts, right?
SPEAKER_01But he was an only but the butt had a reason for him being the addict. But Klaus had a reason for him being an addict because he was trying to drown out all the voices of these dead people who were around him all of the time. And so he was like, right? I mean, when he realized that, like, oh shit, when I'm when I'm intoxicated, I don't have to deal with this. That's that that was his solution. I didn't say it was the best solution. But that was a solution.
SPEAKER_07Like everyone has their own trauma. So like you can't necessarily say like he's he used because he used because he's an addict, right? Not you know, like it just it doesn't justify any more than like anybody that has a a messed up life, regardless, right?
SPEAKER_01No, I'm saying that's I'm I think that's where it started. He couldn't handle what was all the stress that was coming from his powers and him using his powers. Because like he because like if they had that flashback of the scene in the first season, he was they like Hargries threw him into a room and he was just surrounded by all of these dead people and he was freaking the fuck out. And the only way he and the only way he figured out how to cope with that was using was using alcohol, using drugs, and once he realized that it dampened his powers and he didn't have to deal with that shit anymore, then he was full gung-ho. And that was like I think that was like that slippery slope for him into being an addict.
SPEAKER_06Right. Except for Ben.
SPEAKER_01Oh, Ben, uh, poor Ben.
SPEAKER_07Which still don't understand.
SPEAKER_01What did wait? I think it was either you or Mark, but it's like Ben is the only ghost I know who ages. It still looks good. Right. They had they had to write in that little throwaway line for that one. I just you know project myself as I see how I bought it.
SPEAKER_06I was definitely hoping that they would go more so in the detail in this season as to how Ben died, more so than you know, having to Google it. But um, yeah, because I think Ben Ben is a good character too.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, he had a bomb power.
SPEAKER_06He coming back.
SPEAKER_01With a whole new with a whole new family.
SPEAKER_06When a whole new family died.
SPEAKER_01But no, my reasons for why Luther is trash. Um, if we're gonna get back on that quick topic, is because out of it's like one, Luther has the most basic power out of all of them. Even Diego's power is a bit more and is a bit more interesting than Luther's power. Not by a whole lot, but just enough. Luther is the base most basic, like super powered person. He had super strength. That's it. There's nothing more to him. And because he was made number one, he developed the he was numbered number one. He was made, he was given, he developed this like unnecessary complex of like having to be the leader when they were all the same age. It's not like he was the oldest or anything. They were all born on the same day at the exact same time. There was no foundation for him to have the mentality that he did outside of being named number one. And I just like, did you really take that that far? The fact that Reginald gave you the title, or at least the number one, which is I think there was a theory or something that they're numbered based on their power level. Not really. But it's but yeah, but it's like it was one of those things he took really he took way too far, and it's like, I'm the one responsible for the team, you know, I'm the leader, but then you were a shitty leader. And then you got sent to the moon because you were a shitty leader, and your father had to find something for you to do to make you makes make you feel like you're useful when in actuality you are the most yeah, the most useless member on the team.
SPEAKER_06Maybe number one because he's the tallest.
SPEAKER_07I don't know, I think he becomes a few.
SPEAKER_01That's what you want to go with that one. It's not my fault I'm six foot.
SPEAKER_07Consistently through, especially with like uh Scott Summers and Gene Gray, like the same kind of scenario of like these people came together and like he was made a leader at a young age, and like wasn't necessarily effective, and his power wasn't necessarily like even that important, you know. Um, and they kind of like took that trope and like applied it. So, like, what happens if you're not like a good person or like a uh you're not not a toxic human being, essentially? Man crowds about absolutely nothing.
SPEAKER_01Like, oh it'd be different if he was actually you know good as a leader, but he wasn't. I I could at least give that to Scott that he you know he knew how to rally the troops together and everyone could pull their shit together.
SPEAKER_07But well people respected him at least.
SPEAKER_01Right.
SPEAKER_00No one has to be falling on the ground though.
SPEAKER_01I mean, hey, if I didn't want to go to work, I do that shit too. Anybody else have any other reasons why Luther's trash?
SPEAKER_02But also just because like they he he almost single-handedly uh uh alienates Vanya to the point that she becomes the boss of season one. Like it's a whole problem that didn't need to exist. Like they like if it like if if it wasn't for like 80% Luther and 20% uh uh daggers.
SPEAKER_05Uh Diego Diego Daggers like a conversation just would have you know just would have happened eventually and she wouldn't explode it.
SPEAKER_02And everything more or less would have been cool, or or at the very least, the moon wouldn't explode it. We we we definitely would have fell short of uh the moon exploded. Also that that that that that small piece of moon causing the apocalypse was kind of shifty too. But um, but it's fine. Uh but yeah, he was like, he's just so dismissive, a toxic, uh, especially being like again the most the most useless person on the team. It was like you on real tenuous ground. And yeah, and you and you know, and you found out the way uh he she was treated, and you was still like, oh nope, she's a danger, she's just duds. Let's like and and I really and I really and I really hate when uh like in and just in fiction in general, where you find out someone is super is super powerful and your first instinct is to cause them immense emotional distress.
SPEAKER_00Thank you. Why is that?
SPEAKER_06Oh, that's why in this isolation chamber where she can't talk to nobody and hear shit. Let's do that. That sounds like a good ass fucking idea.
SPEAKER_01That's because I think that when it comes to actual, like when it comes to reality, that is most people. I think that's I would say that's a more of a general consensus as to what to do. That as I'll say that what Americans do when it comes to things or other other entities that have overwhelming power, that is an act, it's a stupid decision made out of fear when there doesn't need to be. It's like people were afraid, like people were what's a good example before I before I homeotasis? I was gonna say X-Men, but yeah, let's just go with black people, like being afraid of black people for no real reason. Even like it's like you're waiting for something to happen, but that's gonna happen. Like, yeah, let's lock everybody up. Uh for what? Because you might do something, but they no one's done anything. Like, what are you talking about? It's like let's agitate the situation more by acting by making an issue out of a non-issue. There we go.
SPEAKER_02Yep, and it's like it's like we could try some therapy, we could uh uh you still know.
SPEAKER_01What do you mean?
SPEAKER_02You should get medicated now and convince her that being in a room was a good idea, but you could put some shit in there, yeah.
SPEAKER_01You could have fed her good or something. Y'all could have had Allison rumored her or something. Like your father.
SPEAKER_07I could have just had somebody sitting there with her. Like Lutheran actually sat down there with her and be like, homie, I we're gonna lock ourselves up because we need to figure out what you're doing. But Luther decided that he, in all his glory, needed to stop the world from stopping by harming his sister and squeezing her.
SPEAKER_06But you know what? Sibling and maybe she can talk to her. Allison was they were fixing their relationship, but I think she would have been the best person to actually talk to her before you pissed her off.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, I would say Klaus.
SPEAKER_01I don't know, I don't think Klaus is in the space for that yet.
SPEAKER_07Right, neither one Klaus was not there. Klaus wasn't very Klaus.
SPEAKER_06Well, wasn't Klaus in in the war at that time? Like didn't hear that?
SPEAKER_07No, he was back because he saw her in the chamber. Oh yeah, he's back. Yeah, he was there in the war.
SPEAKER_03And he was semi-sober. He went back in time went to the war that took place after the JFK uh stuff.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, I know that, but I'm saying that they were she locked up already. Oh my gosh. Oh, at that point? Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Oh my god. But yeah, no, like it's it's like when you think about it in Hinds, well, not if we think about when you see it all have play out, like Luther was the worst decision maker in the entire team. And what ended up happening, all the problems that culminated towards the end that could have been solved, you know, this entire like serial killer situation that Vanya was dating, be damned. Like, they like once she actually found out she had powers and why she didn't know she had powers, like it was it was nothing but a conversation. Like, y'all all knew your dad was fucked up. Y'all all knew your dad did some shit to you, shit to all of y'all that made y'all the way you are today. It it just sit down and talk to her. Yeah, like y'all were already wearing their relationship. And did I wait, can't I can't remember. Did Allison forget that her that Reginald made her do that?
SPEAKER_07Yeah. Yeah. She didn't understand why she did it.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, why she did.
SPEAKER_07All she did was rumor her to think that she was normal.
SPEAKER_01Ah, okay. Oh yeah, yeah, she didn't understand at the time.
SPEAKER_07She didn't understand what it was, and then she finally understood when Vanya showed her her powers. No, except for hardcore. Well, so technically they knew she had powers because she kept on killing the nannies, which also like Vanya hardcore killer off like off brakes, but like whatever. That's why they got to be able to do that.
SPEAKER_01It was probably because she didn't know what about she was. That was like that was lack of control. You know.
SPEAKER_07But yeah. Alright. Has everyone heard themselves of these hateful Lutheran feelings?
SPEAKER_01Uh oh, and we well, we've only talked about season one. Um probably we haven't gotten to season two yet.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I mean, yeah, they yeah, some somebody brought up once, but yeah, he he he he was doing very little with himself with his uh superpowers in the 50s.
SPEAKER_01Uh uh but the the sad part is he was complacent with that, and it was okay. Like he was he was content enough to keep living his life that way. And then what did you what did he end up doing? What? Oh, my siblings are still around? Wait, that must mean Allison's around somewhere. Nigga, you've been here how long and have lived, you have constructed an entire life for yourself, and now you want to go looking for this woman all over again for what? What are you gonna do when you find it?
SPEAKER_07Not this woman, your sister.
SPEAKER_01Yes, your sister, okay?
SPEAKER_07Yes, and I like that they touched the bottom of that in the second season. They're like, hmm, isn't that your brother though?
SPEAKER_01Like, technically, we're not related. Like, I mean, technically, no, they're not. But it's but you're we just y'all are raised together as brother and sister, amongst other brothers and sisters. Y'all are y'all are y'all are related. Y'all are family. I like I like even when even in the Brady bunch, like y'all were no no no no. That's just it's still weird. Still very, very strange.
SPEAKER_02Even though their family dynamic was always fucked up, right?
SPEAKER_01But um, and the more annoying part was that Allison had gotten over the shit. Allison moved on. She was fine.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, she was good. But she always good.
SPEAKER_01She was. Why? Because she had a career, she was married, she had a child, you know. That was it. That's also very true.
SPEAKER_07That's also very true.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah, her. I absolutely would abuse, I guess.
SPEAKER_07Oh, yeah, no, anyone, whatever. Yeah, yeah, but I don't think anyone has like the moral wherewithal to be like, you know what? I don't, you know, like when push comes, especially since we've had this power since a child. I would love to have found out how she figured out she had this power. Be like, I heard a rumor.
SPEAKER_01Like who found out those are the words are the who found out those were the words that you needed to say?
SPEAKER_07Right, right, right, right. Like Diego, I get it. Like you happen to like throw a knife one time and it's just like zoomed. You're like, oh, cool. Like Klaus, you can't really do anything about that. Same thing with like Luther. Useless ass.
SPEAKER_01Um Ben must have been horrified when he found out that's like imagine this was imagine waking up in the middle of the night and you have like 25 tentacles just spewing out of your chest.
SPEAKER_02Funny tip is uh did Diego's like other code name was was the Crockett. Wow. Like, oh not the tentacle nigga?
SPEAKER_07Not not the guy with the with the things, no?
SPEAKER_02But uh but apparently Diego could uh his other side ability was that he could he could be he could uh hold his breath almost indefinitely out of water. So and so they called him the crocker because he was I mean, I guess, you know.
SPEAKER_06It didn't prove itself to be particularly helpful throughout the show, but you know, it was barely any water, still doesn't justify that code name at all.
SPEAKER_01Not at all. It doesn't show you this as a comic thing. Oh but be underwater a lot, but still like when are you moving Redland and throwing eyes underwater?
SPEAKER_02I mean I can say I could say like if if if no one had actual powers and and it was and you just like a bunch of agents, then if you relatively dangerous and and you can go in the water and do dangerous things, then fine. You can call yourself everyone. But yeah, that I thought that was funny.
SPEAKER_01Um also I think Diego became the new Luther in season two.
SPEAKER_07Oh, hard agreed. Yes.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, he became the new Luther.
SPEAKER_06Especially with his obsession over his dad supposedly killing the president.
SPEAKER_01Yo, that was a lot for me. I was like, nigga, calm down.
SPEAKER_06Wow. I don't know if the new Luther, I I think he was just Annoying, like it was just like, why you focus on this one thing? Like everybody else trying to save the world, and you're focused on this one thing that you think is gonna save the world, and turn out it didn't, but right even in your own timeline, this shit happens anyway.
SPEAKER_07Isn't that what happens in season one, anyways? Like, Luther was so fixated on like there would have to have been a reason I was sent to the moon, you know, and he was fixated on that whole thing, and like because of his actions created the the thing that he was trying to say.
SPEAKER_06I feel like I forgot why Luther was in the first season, so I honestly at this point is because he was family was he was a crybaby, he was like fawning over Allison the whole damn show. And I was just like, okay, so this character is pointless.
SPEAKER_01Also, I wanna I wanna I wanna follow it up with her. Any of our listeners is all like, oh, this is like man catch your emotions. First of all, that's not it. Luther was just really bad at it. Like there are healthy ways to express how you're feeling, and then there are things that are just dumb and fucked up. And Luther's were entirely dumb and fucked up. Like there was literally no reason for Luther to respond in the way that he did and claim to be the leader that he was trying to be.
SPEAKER_02He had no other redeeming qualities.
SPEAKER_07That wasn't a redeeming quality. Like I said, that monkey body was the closest he was gonna be.
SPEAKER_01I mean, he'd have to be a person first. I mean, uh, Luther was so bland as a character that I wouldn't even qualify him as per for for personhood. Like I wouldn't even put him on that ballot. He was just a white man with the monkey body, like that was really about it. And the sad part is the monkey body didn't even come with super strength. He was the it was it's just there.
SPEAKER_07He already had super strength than normal. Just there.
SPEAKER_01He already had super strength, it didn't really matter.
SPEAKER_07It made no difference. Okay, Kyle, thank you.
SPEAKER_02Right, it's like like you big as shit and just here for no reason. I know, I know one time like they uh like they they like made his uh his footsteps like cavernous and fucking like echo throughout the house. I'm like, what when we do that with does he have density powers? Why are y'all doing it? And then yeah, and then they never did again. And it's like y'all don't know what to do with this man. This man don't know what to do with this man. First implementation of super strength. Uh almost ever. I don't like him him being really like like the Diego went hand to hand with him for fun. Yeah. Like that that should have even been a thing.
SPEAKER_01It shouldn't have, because he was because Diego knew he was more agile, and I think that was part of Diego's complex as well. That he was so insecure about Luther being number one that he felt like he needed to prove himself to prove that he, you know, he was basically this Batman character, that he, you know, needed to be, that he was worthy of leadership, or he was worthy of, you know, whatever recognition that he wanted from Reginald that he was never going to get. Um that just made me think about when he got dragged at the table.
SPEAKER_05Yes.
SPEAKER_01That shit was so hurtful that I felt bad for him. Like I was like, oh, you poor thing.
SPEAKER_06Like I don't know what he was expecting considering I could see if they were back in their time where you know he knew those were his kids, but he had no cut cards anyway, being their father. But now you're going up to this man telling him you're their he their father and he doesn't know you.
SPEAKER_01So then he dragged the shit out of you and don't even know who you are. Ain't never met you a day in his life. It was like Lila said, you but you are a very open book, you're an open book for very dumb children.
SPEAKER_07A lot of people read Diego this entire season, the second season. A lot of people read him. Like five was like, he's like a Batman, but like useless. And I was like, damn. Yeah, I felt that. I felt that. I was like, that's hers. I know who went on Batman last episode, but still, damn.
SPEAKER_01I mean, the only difference between him and Batman was that, you know, at least he wound up. Diego actually wound up in a mental institution.
SPEAKER_05Right, right.
SPEAKER_01In therapy, much needed therapy, mind you.
SPEAKER_07But it was 60 therapy. It wasn't really helpful.
SPEAKER_01It was more therapy than Batman was ever gonna allow himself to have.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I don't I don't think that Diego even needed to be with the family. I think Diego was at his best doing his visionati thing.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Fucking that cop. Yeah, the fucking with uh yeah, cop boo, cop Bay. Didn't she die?
SPEAKER_07Yeah, she died. Also, probably the healthiest relationship that any of them have ever had. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah. Actually, no, I think the healthiest relationship that any of them might have had was five and his job. That might have been it. I mean, you know, he would he was he was another shinobu shitsu. Oh shit. He found out how fucked up the job was, and then was like, okay, we gotta burn this shit down. Not healthy at all. He was good at it though. I mean, well, so was Shinobu.
SPEAKER_02Uh, what do we think about the villains of both seasons?
SPEAKER_01Who's technically the villain of season one?
SPEAKER_07Um, it would be what's his face? Gerard? Yeah. The creepy guy.
SPEAKER_01Oh, hell. I don't know. Technically he's a villain. Varnus.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, that was Varney's boy from the first season.
SPEAKER_02Or China. Uh I'm about to pick honestly fucking uh home homegirl from what's her name is the villain both seasons. For real, for real.
SPEAKER_07Don't come over to Addison Montgomery like that. She was amazing. She did an amazing girl. Sorry. That's not geek culture, but whatever. Enjoy it.
SPEAKER_01Overarching villain both. The handler was a good overarching, I guess, as far as the both seasons are concerned, the handler was a good overarching villain. It was like they didn't poise her to be a villain in the first season, they just kind of placed her as like um kind of a chaotic neutral. Like she she was more self-servient, and she she was interested in what was good for the company. Um, the commission. There we go. She was interested in what was good for the commission, and you know, what was most beneficial, and you know, but she was also willing to make side deals for people to get what they wanted, but for her to also really get what she wanted in the first place. So it was like she it was like she was good at her job, but she was better at getting what she wanted.
unknownRight.
SPEAKER_02I didn't consider her a villain at all until uh just certs the certain things they kept tracing back to her, and you can see how many things she was like kind of you know machinating in the background, and I was like, oh, that was you too. And and then and then it's like up, everyone died here, and then she'll come up and pick up a bag, and I'm like, oh, this was for you. Okay. But uh, but no, yeah, I think yeah, Cha Cha, uh Cha Cha was her name. I think they defin they definitely drove uh you know Hazel and Cha Cha.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, they they were like the driving villain for us. But even at the end of that, it was like they weren't even really the villains. They were just they were middlemen. Yeah, they were they were business. It was like it's kind of um what we were talking when we were having the conversation last week, um, our last episode about um about the civil system. They were just products of uh they were products of a bureaucratic system or of a structure in which they had a job to do. They there was no there was no vendetta, there was no, you know, care for the people that they were working for or that they, you know, were after. It was just what they were charged to do.
SPEAKER_06Like Yeah, I would definitely say Vanya's boyfriend was a villain in that because he was pushing her and taking her off her med secretly. So I would definitely say he was more the antagonist in that one.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. But even so, like I he was doing things for Vanya, like he was doing things for her benefit. I think he was trying to end the world per se. Um, he I think he I I I don't really know what his goal was outside of helping Vanya in some way, shape, or form. Because everything he did, although sadistic and you know, sociopathic, was for her benefit. Like if it wasn't for her, she wouldn't have if it wasn't for him, she wouldn't have gotten to the first chair or whatever. Um, if it wasn't for him, she wouldn't have had the confidence that she had, she wouldn't have found out about her powers or whatever.
SPEAKER_07And so Yeah, but it was still self-serving. Like that was at the end of the day, it was for But what was he gonna get out of it though?
SPEAKER_01I guess that was my actual question.
SPEAKER_07For him to feel powerful, for him to feel a part of that equation, right?
SPEAKER_01Oh, that's right, because he wanted to be a part of the umbelly account, but because he didn't have to be a younger split.
SPEAKER_07It was all right.
SPEAKER_06Because he was one of those fanboys that wanted an autograph and they kind of dismissed him.
SPEAKER_01Which, like, the whole homies too. He was like a great value version of Syndrome. Yeah. Because you know, at least Syndrome had the brain power and to to go on with his life and become amazing. Like I mean, to be weird, Gerald did it too.
SPEAKER_06He tried to join, but you know, of course, the Umbrella Academy kids are, you know, special made.
SPEAKER_01Right. Which we're still waiting to find out. Well, I don't think they're I'm pretty sure it's explained in the comic, but it's like no one knows how these children were made.
SPEAKER_00On that note, since you guys seem to be talking about all the kids and not specifically about Luther, I think we've all kumbayed our hostility towards that single character. Granted, you said you were going to go more depth into season two about him, and it seems like you kind of swayed into Diego slash stackers. Uh so before we do is uh let's go ahead and allow you guys to kind of let the uh listeners or viewers uh know who your favorite Umbrella Academy character is, and we are going to start with Miss Skittles.
SPEAKER_06So my favorite, my favorite, um I'm also biased because I I love him outside of Umbrella Academy, but my favorite is Klaus. Not only is he like bang, but um I feel I feel like I kind of like resonate with him because he's like like he's he's just free. He's everywhere. Like in the second season, of course, he's got like this whole uh following. He's got this whole cult following. Um just just because he just be making up shit as he goes along. And I and I and I love how like free and caring he is, but he also, you know, when needed, he also does what he has to do. So um I I just resonate with his character. Um and also because him and Ben were like attached at the hip for like the whole second season and part of the first. So and I and I love Ben. Like I like it was just a part of me hoping like somehow Ben was about to be like back to life. And then like when he took over, when he took over Klaus's body, that that I was I was here for all of that. I thought it was hilarious. But uh yeah, Klaus is definitely my favorite character. Um and yeah, I'm gonna just leave it there because I'm sure Klaus is other people's favorite characters. Random thought since you said you were hoping that Ben could come back to life. You remember when Vanya helped the boy out of the pond and then she breathed life into him? Yes, I was wondering, like, like say hypothetically, Modelers were suppressed, right? Could she have bought Ben back?
SPEAKER_01No, I would say no, because like his physical body was there. Ben's body was already like buried and gone.
SPEAKER_07I mean, not really, because it's 1960s. So they but Ben also hadn't been born yet.
SPEAKER_06No, no, I'm saying like when that whole incident happened, when they were whatever happened that led to his death, if Vanya's powers weren't suppressed then, would she been able to bring Ben back in that moment? We don't understand what Ben's.
SPEAKER_01No one knew her powers were. I don't think Reginald understood fully what all her powers were.
SPEAKER_07Right. But and also, like, we didn't know what Ben's powers were because we assume that there's just like this giant monster, but like there's also fan theories that like he's actually a portal to like a different world situation, so like we don't know what his powers are or how they would be affected.
SPEAKER_06Right.
SPEAKER_07You know, I love my fan theories.
SPEAKER_06I read that one, I read that one.
SPEAKER_00Speaking of your fan theories, Prince Kuzan, would you like to give your favorite Umbrella Academy character?
SPEAKER_07And why so uh also Klaus, right? Uh because as somebody that's like that's like in recovery and also that some somebody that suffers from like PTSD, like highly identify, right? But like in season two, at least, and I'm just gonna I'm gonna choose somebody else for this for the sacred uh conversation. In season two, I really do have to give an honorable mention to Alistair though. Yes, um even though she had the power, like literally in a moment in a time period where like vocal uh being vocal about something was such a big thing, um, she had the power and she decided not to. Like she still decided not to unless it was absolutely necessary. Um, and that was because like her own like internal growth. And I think in most like uh in most of the show, we don't see a whole lot of like internal growth in people. Um we just see a lot more damage happening to people, like Klaus uh losing his lover or finding his lover again and then getting punched out by his lover. Right. Or starting in a cult, even though he's sober. Um like Allison, like it finds figures out what she wanted. Uh even though she does, I don't understand why she constantly has to fall in love with somebody else in some time period with some other husband. Although I'm here for Ray. Go, Ray.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, Ray was amazing. I would say that part of that has to do with the power that she actually has because you know she didn't because even when she got there, she was still work, she was still recovering from when she got her throat slit and she couldn't speak. She couldn't speak. And so even after that, she was she still had her own PC, her own version of PTSD of using her powers because she it part of it part of part of it was part of the reason she had such a resentment towards her powers was because one, it ruined her life in a way, and she, you know, we ended up being separated from her child because of it. Um and her marriage fell apart because of it. And when she the one time she tried to use it to get things under control again, she almost died. And so I can understand the relationship with her not using her powers as frequently until she was pushed to use it um during the riot, and um the police officer was literally about to like beat the shit out of her husband. And yeah, I like it was one of those, it was it was like you said, it was that dire moment. But like, but what I was saying before, like I think her having I don't think it's necessarily that she has to fall in love, but I think that that kind of the way in which she did, at least with Ray, might be more um organic and authentic than her previous marriage because it was something that happened without her having to use her power, without her actually having to do anything except just be herself and genuinely interact with another person and not rumor them into doing whatever she wanted them to do.
SPEAKER_07Also, I do appreciate the fact that like out of all of them, she's the one that uh she continued fighting the good fight, you know? Um, out of all of them, like yes, Diego was still trying to like stop the the assassination, but like she was still trying to help along something that was going to happen anyways, right? And she wanted to do something like for people. And now, like, do I have issues with her hair? Yes, because like that thing was just not what's up. It wasn't it wasn't working for her. You could have done so many hairstyles. I got used to it. She could have done a nice little finger wave and called it a day.
SPEAKER_01So that's I mean, listen, as far as Netflix shows go, prudence is already, you know, she already got the little finger waves together. So okay, it doesn't matter. We can have another one.
SPEAKER_07We can always have another prudence because I love her. I would marry as a gay man, I would still marry her. We'll save that.
SPEAKER_01We'll save that for the uh Sabrina episode. No, no, I think I think that her power was her power, like her not having to use her power to have an actual relationship was but that that part of that growth you were talking about, that internal growth for her, was being able to be a whole person without having to be, you know, Allison Hart Greaves. She was just able to be, she just had the capacity to be Allison and not manipulate the situations around her. And which she did was cute because she was right, and when she did was cute because she was flexing for her man.
SPEAKER_07All right, but that's mine. But again, actual favorite character is possible. Gotcha.
SPEAKER_00Alright, so let's go over to shampoo bracelets, who are your favorite characters of Umbrella. I almost did it again. Umbrella Academy and why.
SPEAKER_01It's okay. If we're out we're here he'd probably say Umbreon a couple times.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_04Personally, my favorite character died already was Hazel.
SPEAKER_01Oh say more things.
SPEAKER_04Um I never I didn't care like the rest of y'all, I didn't care for Luther at all. Um, Diego had funny moments to me, but for the most part, I I hated Diego in the first season, and I just felt bad for him in the second. Um Allison, I gained more respect for her in the second season because of her ability to not use her power off of being not able to talk for like good. I think they would she was there for what, a year?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, a year or a year and a half or something.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, a year, a year and a half or something like that. So for that first like half a year, she couldn't talk, so she had to learn how to just be human, be human through interactions, through just physical interactions. And um, I was happy to see that go through her character, uh especially after you know, her moment from a previous relationship. And I I I actually understood it to an extent when she told her daughter I heard Ruby you would sleep because sometimes this one to give us a physical. I I I felt I felt for her, but at the same time, it was a thing of like she was just she had that that like I guess that confidence that comes with when you've been famous and you kind of come off of the ass to an extent. Um so I I I kind of under, I didn't care for, I really didn't care for much of the the team at all the first season, uh to be honest. Like the first season, I and I just watched the boys. So it was like kind of watching, yeah, like kind of watching the boys when they go into uh Upper Academy, and it was like, oh, every one of these characters is fixed. The only person I feel sorry for was the guy that I felt for the most, which was Klaus. And that's because I grew up around that. Uh with Hazel, it was the thing, I understood Hazel. He's trying to make a way, he's just trying to survive. He works in a company that he knows he's trash and they do some really fucked up things. And he is smart enough to understand it, but he's also smart enough to understand this is the best thing I can do. This is this is for me to survive and make it in this life, this is what I have to do. And in the long run, if I look at it from a moral standpoint, I might be doing some good things. You know, I yeah, I kill a lot of people, but I save the world and universes as a whole. And then, you know, sooner or later you come across a job that one, it kind of seems like they should try to get you killed at this point. And two, it's like because you're hunting down a person that you know was one of your best men. Yeah. So now it's like saying, okay, yeah, we know you were second best, but we're gonna go get you to kill the best when he kills all of us, or at least slow down, because you know, it gets real sometimes if we're scared. Like that's pretty much how it was with that. Then he comes across just simple person, like he said, one time in a coffee shop. And he got the kind of lady just had a love story that actually felt for that. And yeah, exactly. He just got to the point where he's like, you know what? Fuck your job. Like, I'm taking off my shit. I'm taking y'all shit too. Help me get to a better spot. And I'm just doing a little better life. And I and the the fact that he came back, you know, after he lived his life, of course, he went, he went off to him. He was like, I'm gonna enjoy this shit. With admin. And then when she died, he was like, Yeah, he was like, then when she died, he was like, All right, all right, time for me to go to. And it was like, but I want to go with a purpose. He came back, he did the right thing in getting a lot of information, and then he died. And like I said, it was like he served his whole purpose and he found his happiness. So in my mind, Hazel was my favorite character, even though he was in it for a very short uh period of time in the second season.
SPEAKER_08That was beautiful.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. Yeah, it was that's it. I want a donut.
SPEAKER_01I didn't expect that sentence to go that direction, but you know, all right.
SPEAKER_06I think my favorite character this season was Lila though. Um I had to like look her up for a second because we had a whole discussion about you know, she was taking everybody's powers for a second. So I was like, do you have to touch her? Or is it just like, oh, I see you and I can do that too? So apparently she just memor mirrors their powers and she can only do one at a time. But I thought she was that great secret agent. I mean, it wasn't hard to manipulate Diego, obviously. But I started wondering about her when her and five were having that fight down there in the cellar when she was popping and he was popping at the same time. I'm like, how's she doing that? Um, but I think she was my favorite character this season. I did feel bad for her finding out that the handler had her family killed because she had those special powers. Um I'm interested to know that now that the time has switched, is she gonna be in the Sparrow Academy? Is she gonna pop back up in season three somehow? Because I thought she was a really good character now that they were trying to introduce her into the family while she goes to heal her wounds at the same time.
SPEAKER_01I'm curious about that too, because it I but I'm also not sure because the way it seemed like the way the commission works, they somehow exist outside of time, but try and keep time in check.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Because like the timeline has changed a couple times, but the commission has always been the same. And depending on because she just took a suitcase and went. Right. Um, which if we had a whole conversation about the issues with the commission in these goddamn suitcases. But anybody can just pick up. I mean, no, I the suitcases alone are are a problem. But like I was saying, like depending on where she went, no one really knows when she might pop up, pop back up again. I think that's part of the mystery of Lila right now, especially and the commit and her relationship to the commission. It's like she could she could go back to the commission because after knowing the truth, it's not like you know, she's really tied down to the handler anymore, especially since the handler's dead.
SPEAKER_06Um I mean, what commission? Most of them were laying dead in the field.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Which is disappointing. Also, that was the most disappointing shit I have ever seen in my life.
SPEAKER_06But I knew that was gonna happen. I was like, oh, Lanya's gonna come out and she's gonna set it off. Everybody knows.
SPEAKER_01First of all, after the opening sequence they gave us for season two, I was like, I was ready for something to kind of fill that void. And that was supposed to be that moment. Like, you have a whole army, a whole army of niggas running at you. And you know, I wanted I wanted somebody to throw hands. I'm like, okay, maybe Vanya was busy trying to get um this little boy back together to make sure he's not about to die. Cool. That's perfect. The rest of the family, hold down the front, hold down the front lines. That's what I wanted to see. And but you know that's not what you got. It's not what you got.
SPEAKER_04First off, I don't know why y'all keep expecting every fight this family's gonna get their ass whooped. They got their ass. Like I was I was just like kind of caught off guard that's a good thing. I've been kind of caught off guard with this show, and how like how much they get that ass's look is kind of amazing for a superhero group. They don't have those cool superhero moments where it's like, all right, we just gonna piece it up with these dudes. Like even Justice Lee gave them a moment where it was like, we're gonna make them look real awesome. Nah, Umbrella Academy, they look trash like most of the show. Well, even if they're trash moments, you gotta look for the good moments. Like they're the books.
SPEAKER_01That's like the fun part of their realism as like a team. Like they're they're they were raised in what the most dysfunctional way possible, and then expected to be these like essentially weapons of mass destruction. They're expected to be this elite team, but you basically took a bunch of kids and fucked them up.
SPEAKER_06Then they all separated and then now they coming back and then separated again and now coming back. So it's not like no concept, like team. They don't know how to be a unit.
SPEAKER_04Apparently, yeah, I don't I don't I understand they don't know how to be a cohesive team. I just don't understand how they don't for all that training, they don't even know how to be a cohesive single unit.
SPEAKER_01Because I think one thing that I noticed was that at a certain point, except everyone except for like Luther rebelled in some way, shape, or form.
SPEAKER_07Yeah. Yeah, but they touched on that.
SPEAKER_01Uh yeah. Like everyone was like, you know what, fuck that. I'm gonna do what I want, except Luther. And and yeah, and Ben, you know, because Ben died. Ben died. Thank you, Luther. And you know, those he didn't live long enough to see what happened. And five got and five got trapped in the future.
SPEAKER_06But I mean, even when five got trapped in the future, though, he was a genuine badass. Now he's still a badass, so he's the only one individually to me that can just fuck up shit. He kills the whole room. Yeah, like he's the only one.
SPEAKER_04Five learned how to turn back time so you can save everybody's life. Like, five is that five is the only one I'll look at and be like, that's the one.
SPEAKER_01Let's be really, really honest. Five was a very shit time traveler until he sat down with Reginald in season two. And he was like, maybe you should stop trying to make these big ass leaps. Because you know, maybe go, maybe start smaller. Go back a few seconds. Go back a few seconds.
SPEAKER_06Maybe you need the suitcase for these big leaps. Who knows? You know?
SPEAKER_01Maybe you need a suitcase. Maybe you can make the big leaps, but if you want to be precise, you see. Like, if you're gonna try and like and and it and I think that um the the best moment that I've seen Reginald have, the best moment I've seen Five have was that the conversation that they had with one another at the bar. He's like, well, he was like, well, technically, I'm older than you right now. So but they had they were able to have a conversation and talk as equals, and that was one thing that five could have with Reginald, at least at that point, that none of the other that none of the other members of the Umbrella Academy could have. That they could speak to Reginald Hargreaves on a level on a certain level as equals and be recognized as, you know, you know, worthy of having a conversation. Because everyone else either lost their shit or just couldn't hold yeah, everyone everyone else pretty much has lost their shit. That's what that was, or just didn't have anything to say.
SPEAKER_00And the black employee, does that make Reginald your favorite, or did you have someone else as your favorite?
SPEAKER_01No, it doesn't make Reginald my favorite because he loves for all intents and purposes, Reginald one, isn't human, which you learned in season two. And also it did throw me for a loop, but also made sense. But um my favorite character absolutely would have to be five. Five with five is my favorite character. Um be one teleportation was my dream power, so I'm kinda biased in that way. Um two, five was try was like what Stewie, what you would imagine Stewie would be able to be at a certain point in his life. And five actually had like experience and training, but you could experience training and legitimately had age on him, had so many years over his siblings, but he still was he was he still remained a product of the same dysfunction that they all were. And I think that was one of the most telling things. And the the the kind of growth he had was it was like you got to watch this dysfunctional child become this dysfunctional old man who was really good at doing one thing, but was still extremely intelligent, and also still who had to recover from being alone for so long and had a whole relationship with a mannequin.
SPEAKER_07Um we didn't forget.
SPEAKER_01We did not forget, and then I because I think that moment that he had with Reginald was that pill point for me that we made him my character. We can show that not only is he the smartest, well, yeah, he's the smartest, the most strategic. Um, and for all well, not not even the most powerful, but the most powerful as far as being able to m use his powers effectively. Um and intentionally. Yeah, he was yeah, he's kind of like he was able to use his powers effectively and intentionally, but he had a degree of growth that put him on the that allowed him to gain a level of respect from the person that they all hated and they all knew was the reason they were so fucked up in the first place, and have a conversation with him and gain something from it. And it was and it was that same conversation that created that pivotal moment in the season of in season two where everyone died, but he was able to go back and undo it. Because like I like I said, it was it was one of those it was like the most obvious solution, but it was and I think I think I think that's why I personally identify with five on a level because sometimes the things that's the the the simplest and most obvious solution is not always the one that presents itself to someone who's always intelligent. Um because I know that I think about a plethora of different things, and sometimes the simplest thing isn't the one that's gonna occur to me because sometimes it's like it's so simple, it's too, it's like it's that it's a thing of like it's too easy to be the like it's it's like it can't possibly be that easy, but yeah, it is that easy. But yeah, you know, I think that's why that's that's why five is my favorite, and like that it's like that little amount of growth, because at the end of the day, five was still an asshole, he was always gonna be an asshole. Like he basically became an old man, he be he grew into an old asshole, but on one hand, can you like five and then hate Bakugo on the other hand for the same thing? I will say this because Five's five's entire character arc, his entire character arc is not based on the fact that he is an asshole, it's based on the fact that he's more focused on a larger mission, and Bakugo's character arc is more so focused on the fact that he is an asshole and he only wants to surpass people. Like Bakugo doesn't Bakugo to me doesn't have anything in particular that he wants except for this one thing. But five is five is trying to accomplish something for the gr for the greater good of everyone else.
SPEAKER_07I do respect five because he uh out of everyone, he is the one person that will always respect talent and power. Like even before Vanya had like power as a as a as a uh umbrella catting the person, like he still respected her, which I find really interesting that like later you find out she's the most powerful at all.
SPEAKER_01Right, and then he almost envied her because she didn't have to deal with it. Like she like you don't he's like, you know what, you don't even have powers, you don't have to deal with any of this.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, but I don't know about you, but I wanted to see that fight between Five and Banya.
SPEAKER_01I know that would have been so you know they charged down.
SPEAKER_06I was like, oh, that's some shit.
SPEAKER_01I might have I might have came if they actually fought.
SPEAKER_00Like no, we're going to go ahead and move to Kaze and his favorite character.
SPEAKER_02Um it's uh I think I think it's a hard show to pick a favorite character in. Uh uh, and not because you have a lot of choices, it's the opposite thing.
SPEAKER_04Uh it's it's rough. It's rough looking for options.
SPEAKER_02Disappoint you on different levels. Um but yeah, and also I think the show is uh a lot a lot of the strengths is uh is the you know the character interactions and uh stuff like that. Um like you know, like I would lean towards uh uh Allison, but I just I hate I hate I hate when you like you have a character like Allison, you have to you have to write the character and the show in a way to where she wouldn't solve everyone's problems because she could. It would be a very short two seasons.
SPEAKER_07I heard a rumor, yeah.
SPEAKER_02The right people. Um like like like uh you know, like a head, like like Klaus, out of rumor, you're not addicted anymore. She definitely exploded ahead and she definitely put her daughter to sleep, like it is. Um but um but yeah, that was my issue with Allison. Um uh yeah, I think I think uh I think five is definitely uh my my favorite. Like yeah, he uh definitely definitely uh uses power uh the most efficiently. I I would I would even uh I I would even debate uh um Vanya even the Marvel, I think going going having his skill set and going where exactly where and when you want is absurd, is absurdly strong. And and for and for and and if if Vanya was a target, it wouldn't be a question, it's not a fight. Like a fight wouldn't be cute because he would have deigned to fight her. But if if Vanya was a thing that had to be dead, it wouldn't even be it could have happened off screen.
SPEAKER_01It was like when Sasuke was like, Itachi tried to kill me, it's like if Itachi wanted to kill you, he would have killed you. You would be dead. It wouldn't have taken him that long to kill a child.
SPEAKER_02Like, yeah, like Maya being like Bad Phoenix was like fascinating to watch when it almost happened sometimes. But uh Five was by far the the most effective character, uh more or less in the show, except for the handler.
SPEAKER_04Because that's what I would actually argue that was could we also put Reggie in there?
SPEAKER_01Reggie Reggie, Reggie, Reggie.
SPEAKER_04He was he was incredibly effective. I wouldn't say more than that. No, he was not. The first season was trash.
SPEAKER_06But damn, you might as well say Pogo was effective. Like, come on.
SPEAKER_07Pogo was effective.
SPEAKER_06I mean, also the mother kept Diego together, okay?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, she did it up.
SPEAKER_07Can we talk about how creepy that is? What? That grace, the whole grace situation? That was that's creepy. Like creepy, homie.
SPEAKER_01Now I wonder what happened to her, like if you killed her and turned hands to anything.
SPEAKER_06How did she become a robot, dog? What you doing?
SPEAKER_01I don't know. That was the so that was the weird thing for me. Like, so we're not gonna uh that some of the things, some things weren't explained, and now that the timeline has shifted again, I'm afraid there are th I'm worried that there are things that will never ever be explained. Like, and are we ever gonna find out how Grace ended up being a fucking robot after we learned that General that general um that Reginald was actually an alien in the fucking first place? Like he's not human.
SPEAKER_07Like, I'm knee he wasn't human, like I'm sorry, season one. I knew he wasn't human, you know? Say more things.
SPEAKER_06Keep talking, keep talking. How do you figure?
SPEAKER_07Okay, there was only three things that could possibly happen, right? Either he was ridiculously super intelligent, which like only can happen because of like whatever. Two, he was a time traveler and he came way from the future, but that got that that option got knocked off as soon as five jumped forward, right? There was nothing else when that option got knocked off. And the third one was that he's from a different world/slash universe, you know? So, like, it was only the three things that he could have done.
SPEAKER_01Otherwise, okay, so I'm gonna go ahead and I'm gonna say this out loud. That was a random guess. That sounds like a random guess. Because there was there was nothing that would have me believe that he was not from that world, like super intelligent, absolutely, because like if you're an eccentric billionaire, you're an eccentric white billionaire for a reason. Um because family money, but family money, the right, the right people, the right places, like right, you know, but being able to, but when you find when the when they set the press the premise for the beginning of the show that around the world there are these children born the exact same time from all these different people who weren't pregnant in the first place, and then this random man just goes and collects them all. There's something weird about that. And it like, and and that for me was a moment of okay, you have something to do with this. We don't know what it is yet, but you have something to do with this.
SPEAKER_06And I don't know how all of them got pregnant at the same time.
SPEAKER_01I just want to know where the rest of them are.
SPEAKER_06Yes, that's what I think.
SPEAKER_01Because now that we know that Lila's there, like there's there's clearly more of y'all, or at least.
SPEAKER_06But I'm thinking, I'm thinking the Sparrow Academy is gonna be all different children. And so fan theory is these are gonna be five different children. You remember when they were sitting at the table and he was taking notes? Apparently he wrote down each of their names, so to not pick them in the future.
SPEAKER_04That's why I said Reggie Hargreens is the most of the screen.
SPEAKER_06So like he was writing them down. The only one, the reason why Ben got chosen a second time was because he was dead. Right, he wasn't there. I love that. So yeah, because there's a there's an actual that cube at the end fucked me up. I was like, why is this? What is this? Like Jell O cube, like I don't, because he's dead.
SPEAKER_02You know, we didn't see them all. But why would you not pick five again? Because five's amazing. Right, the one you had to talk to.
SPEAKER_01We're gonna manipulate time.
SPEAKER_07I mean, honestly, choose the whole team over again, except for Klaus. Sorry, I know I love Klaus, but like his powers are too much, and like he couldn't handle it, then that's fine. But like Allison, Vanya, if you treated her better and uh five, like bring them.
SPEAKER_01I would say keep Klaus because Klaus just needed. I guess maybe it's the maybe it's like the the facilitator, like the kind of community advocating, maybe like Klaus just needed a certain degree of care that they couldn't provide, like with the amount of stress that came with it. He's just gonna Right, right, you know. So I mean, if if it if not Klaus, it's for the benefit of Klaus. Not not necessarily like save this person.
SPEAKER_04Well, I think also the reason why he didn't get like five again is because in sure fact when he was writing all these names down. I remember when they showed up, he's like, I knew I would see y'all again. Because he knew they were alive, and he already knew five to jump town. So he's like, I'm probably I can probably switch up the kids and see all five of these dudes again in the future. You know, they fix their stuff and get everything together. So I'm guessing that might have been some of the reasons why he didn't take five again. And I think those of the reasons why he didn't take the others again was one, because you know, everybody's issue with Luther kind of describes that. Two, Diego was in tears, but they bad. Three, uh just seemed like she was off. Like she just really off.
SPEAKER_01I mean, he was mostly just taking her forehead face. Yeah, but I love Ellen too.
SPEAKER_04I'm just saying better than somebody who just I heard a rumor. Yeah, exactly. He just probably wanted to see if you can do better than I heard a rumor.
SPEAKER_01I heard her I heard a rumor you punch yourself in the face, bitch.
SPEAKER_06No, supposedly that was a moment. Because I don't think the comic is finished or up to or something like that. They're supposed to be going away from the comic, but we'll see what happens.
SPEAKER_01Which is fine, yeah.
SPEAKER_06Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Anime has done that for a while.
SPEAKER_07Several different ways.
SPEAKER_06All right.
SPEAKER_00So I think we've learned a lot today. I believe that there's a unanimous disdain once again for Luther. I believe that there's a collective of love. There's a collective love for Allison. Uh and Klaus. Klaus and five.
SPEAKER_03And received Diego.
SPEAKER_06And Lila. Don't forget Lila. And Lila.
SPEAKER_01And Ben. R I Pan.
SPEAKER_03Diego's pre-booking.
SPEAKER_08Number one.
SPEAKER_00And also Reginald is the baddest man on the planet. Or Alien or something.
SPEAKER_01Oh, one thing I will I do want to say, one more thing I do want to say. I think that one of the things that this show pushes, has pushed forward really hard is that it doesn't matter how what abilities you have or how powerful you are, everyone in the show has been susceptible to some degree of psychological manipul to like really strategic psychological manipulation that has been long-standing issues for them throughout their entire lives. Because despite all the power that the Umbrella Academy has, despite how powerful Lila is, despite how great of an Assassin Five is, all of them inevitably were subject to really intense psychological manipulation by the handler, by the commission in general, by Reginald, and even by each other to certain degrees. And like even though Allison could absolutely solve everyone's problems just by rumoring, it was, it's, it's like the psychological trauma she went through of not only using her powers, but being trained to use her powers in the way that she was, the way that she was raised, that made it that much more difficult for her to do so. It's like it's like having it's like I guess having crippling anxiety that this crippling anxiety that was like imposed on everyone that they couldn't do shit about. Because they had already been so deeply ingrained in them over time, as that, you know, at once once they actually became adults, they just became dysfunctional adults with powers.
SPEAKER_00I don't know. The more you guys talk about boomering, it sounds like a fate changing and a probability changing just with a keyword. But I'm not really jumping into it. I don't want you to talk about it. I just want you to think about it. So that is the end of the episode, everyone. Uh, anybody want to give their um their social media handles where they can be followed? I'll go first. Ambustarcade can be found on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, and Twitch. Anyone else?
SPEAKER_06Uh Ms. Skittles um underscore cosplay on Facebook and Instagram.
SPEAKER_01And the black McCoy on Instagram and Facebook.
SPEAKER_07The Fire Prince on Instagram, but it's like my finished journey has nothing to do with with journey with geek shit. But yeah, following labs. Okay, fireprints Luis. Fireprints.luis. Sorry, L-U-I-S.
SPEAKER_02Uh Kaze Shimryu at on uh YouTube.
SPEAKER_00All right. Uh shampoo braces? Anything you want people to follow, go to, look at, purchase?
SPEAKER_06Uh it's coming. Um, it's gonna be called Muse Studio Creations. It's coming. We're working on it. Um just stay tuned and I'll release it later.
SPEAKER_01They are the muses, goddesses of the arts and proclaimers of bomb ass t-shirts.
SPEAKER_05Yes.
SPEAKER_07Write that down. Put it on the back of a t-shirt. Right. I swear, if you do have like a photo shoot for the muses, please let me be one.
SPEAKER_01Stop saying you're welcome, just like me.
SPEAKER_00All right, everyone. Thank you for uh please thank our panelists. Thank you for listening, thank you for watching. If you see it on YouTube, uh, you will see us next week. Uh I think that's it. Uh, but we will have another Umbrella Academy episode. We'll go into more depth about the um, hopefully the constructs of the uh show, the uh different uh go kind of in depth into what uh the Blackman Court was touching on, which is the mental states and the psychological uh issues that each of the characters went through. Also, uh world building, and we're gonna do that about several other uh uh live action um television shows or live action dramas comparatively to Umbrel Umbral Umbrella Academy. So uh stay tuned for stay tuned for those episodes and more from the Blurred Spectrum podcast. So long.
SPEAKER_05Bye bye.
