Welcome back to the Blurred Spectrum Podcast. Obviously, this looks a little bit different than it normally looks. People are in different places. Well, actually, just me in different places, I believe. But we're doing something a little bit different. We have plenty of topics to talk about, but there's a couple of things that hit the cutting room floor. So instead of like sitting and arguing about the fact that we may do it this week or that week, we're just going to do them all in a round robin, high speed. Everybody answer the question. Don't give too much explanation. Ask the question yes or no type of situation. Cool? Everybody's good? Awesome. Everybody's ready? Alright. So uh I'm gonna introduce everyone, starting with myself, Suchy No Shogun. Uh obviously next to me. We have Kaze, we have Ms. Skittles, we have Shampoo Bracelets, we have the Doctor, and we have Stitch and the Black McCoy. Oh as I said, very simple. Uh actually what happened last week is we spanned the wheel as we did a couple weeks, uh a couple episodes ago. Uh the doctor selected a particular question, and it kind of spawned it kind of spawned this sequence of uh choices for topics. So uh we're gonna go through it as um efficiently yet fast as possible. So the first question that the doctor spanned was if Kirby absorbed you, as you know, Kirby, the character from Nintendo, absorbs certain types of enemies, certain types of creatures, and is able to take on a specific power. And with that power, he's able to do magnificent things. So for this particular one, uh the question is if Kirby absorbed you, what would his power become? What would his power be? Uh so I guess I'll start. So if Kirby was to absorb me, I believe he would turn into an earth-bending uh uh technomancer. Yeah, just uh yeah, yeah, I know, random, right? I know. I I told you, just be creative. Be creative, Kaze.
SPEAKER_07Uh Kirby uh ate me, he would uh hate you? Absorbed. Such a former word. It goes through the mouth. But uh yeah, Kirby uh Kirby would be able to uh beat people at fighting games they haven't played before.
SPEAKER_08Ooh, now um let's do the doctor.
SPEAKER_11Kirby absorbed me. So doctor is a Kirby power, funny enough. You know, choose a little pearls, like makes potions and whatnot. Like, so you might get that. Um just get a power to make really good drinks because I make really good drinks.
SPEAKER_06The doctor is the podcast mixologist. Yes, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_11Oh, shaker and everything.
SPEAKER_06Okay. Uh how about uh the black McCoy?
SPEAKER_10Ooh, Kirby would be cooking a lot.
SPEAKER_06Is there a cooking Kirby already?
SPEAKER_10Yeah, there is. There is a cooking.
SPEAKER_06Is he cooked Kirby?
SPEAKER_10It'd be a soul food southern cooking Kirby who will be drunk a lot with the with the Jigglypuff uh Southern Baptist hat.
SPEAKER_06Yes. Ms. Skittles.
SPEAKER_01Oh my god, why? Um so uh Kirby would be Kirby would be a sarcastic artist.
SPEAKER_03Ooh.
SPEAKER_01A little bit spicy with little bit spicy.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, spice all right, shampoo bracelets.
SPEAKER_10Um he would have incredible resilience. I thought you said Brazilian. I was like, what? Brazilian.
SPEAKER_05Um that's a good question. I'm still thinking. What did you say the other day? Oh my god. Okay. Mark keeps saying it would be a shine guard with the creative palette. Because I can literally taste things and then kind of like cook the ingredients out and then cook it myself.
SPEAKER_06I've heard what you can do with chorizo. I'm going to agree. Okay.
SPEAKER_05Oh, yeah, that would be it.
SPEAKER_06All right, next question. If you could wake up in any world, anime, gaming, cartoons, it could be live TV dramas. If you can wake up in any world, comic books even, what would it be? And instead of starting with me, we will start with the black McCoy.
SPEAKER_10Oh, god damn it. This is a terrible question because we have two, we have two, it's like trying to immediately sift through everything. Yes.
SPEAKER_12Right, right. On your feet, people.
SPEAKER_10I'm fine. It will be the world of um, oh, it would be overlord. Yeah, yeah. Because I would love, I would love to be, I would love to be Ion Zungle. I would love to be love to be Mamonga. I would love to have that much overwhelming power and figure out what to do with myself.
SPEAKER_06Okay. Uh shampoo bracelets.
SPEAKER_04Um, you know, because I just started watching the show and uh it has a lot of cool things in me. I wake up. If I can wake up in the world, I'll wake up in the world of uh Fire Force.
SPEAKER_06Ah, okay.
SPEAKER_04I'd still be afraid of you know combusting, but you could also get you could also get uh the power to be a power connect, so yeah, but it's again you know toss the coin at that point.
SPEAKER_05What was the movie that we watched that was like one of the the techno? And I was like, if you watch it too long, you gotta have a seizure. Not one with all the lights. No, no, no. It was a movie, the fire movie.
SPEAKER_10That's a lot of flashes.
SPEAKER_04That's not like five minutes.
SPEAKER_10It was a very bright movie.
SPEAKER_05I like fire, so it had to be one of those two. Okay.
SPEAKER_06Y'all just gonna be all flamed up. Gotcha.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, flame on.
SPEAKER_06Uh all right.
SPEAKER_07See, we can uh maximize ability and uh and minimize casualties. I'm gonna go ahead and go with Pokemon, you know. We can catch a few deities. Yep, yep. Uh you know, lots of competition, real normal, nobody's trying to kill you.
SPEAKER_10Yeah, you know. Or you can be in the Digimon world and become a deity.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, we can. Absolutely not.
SPEAKER_08No, we're in a digitized world. Yeah, nope.
SPEAKER_10You trying to be used with your Digimon, that's my own point is it.
SPEAKER_08Nah, I'm good.
SPEAKER_07No. Oh, I get snatched from home. I don't got survival skills.
SPEAKER_08The doctor. The doctor. Eat a core monday defended.
SPEAKER_10Stay over there.
SPEAKER_02The doctor.
SPEAKER_11So I think I would pick the Sonic universe because it feels to me like the one universe that's really good for an average person to live in. Where if you're not the hero, like, oh, you know, you have a night zone you can go to and these resorts. And you know, like you'll have like the same level of, you know, like complete mass chaos. But you know, we get a lot of comic universes or cartoon universes. So yeah, like I'd probably get some good real estate studio zone or something like that.
SPEAKER_07Uh that works as long as you stay out of Archie Comics. Archie Comics. Yes.
SPEAKER_11We're not doing Sonic Underground, none of that. We're like Sonic Maylon series.
SPEAKER_06Uh I believe if I was to wake up in a world, and I've I've done the I've thought through this many times, it'd be one piece. And it's because it kind of gives the a potential safety, potential safety that Pokemon does. And then, you know, a lot of people say, Oh, if you wake up in the world, there's no guarantee you'll have powers. Well, the only thing I really have to do is hustle hard, find a fruit. Granted, it may not be the fruit I want, but everybody has the ability to awaken their fruit and do even more than their fruit could potentially do. So I think I would shoot for the moon, be afraid of smile fruit, and you know, do what I gotta do. Yep. So let's go ahead and round it up with Miss Skittles.
SPEAKER_01So what's what's crazy is like the first thing that popped in my head was Mortal Kombat. And I don't and I it is completely completely you trying to fight for your life.
SPEAKER_07So nether realm or earth?
SPEAKER_05Oh so definitely another realm. Oh I would not be an earth realm. I can't. I I need all of the powers now. I need I need to be able to pull the hell from from the the depths of wherever to to fuck some shit up.
SPEAKER_01That's that's like that's what I would be on. Okay.
SPEAKER_08I I can't argue that.
SPEAKER_05I don't know. I don't know why. I'm like super like I want peace and quiet and you know, I don't think but yeah, Mortal Kombat.
SPEAKER_10I was like, Mortal Kombat ain't bad, honey. Not at all.
SPEAKER_06I don't think there's a peaceful, peaceful in the bun.
SPEAKER_10There's nothing peaceful about it. Even when you did, you can't be at peace.
SPEAKER_05I don't know. That's that's it.
unknownAll right.
SPEAKER_06Next question. Yeah. Oh, I don't know about well, that's true. You could have, yeah, DPZ would have been safer. Or safe kind of thus.
SPEAKER_10Not really, not if you live on Earth.
SPEAKER_06No, they wish you back. That's true. They do wish you back. Like you just have to get back to life afterwards. Like a debt or a loan, it's like sitting there after you die. That would suck. Anyway, uh because I'd be upset that you brought me back and I still have a debt that's accumulated over the time that you waited to put on that stuff. Okay. Um, next question. Which game would you say introduced you to gaming? PC gaming, console gaming, handhelds? What was the first game that you put into your hand? Not you know, and it doesn't have to make you a gamer, but what's the first game that was put into your hand, and that is your first game? And it introduced you to the world of gaming. And we will start with, who did we start with last time? But we'll start with Miss Skittles.
SPEAKER_05Wait, so are you saying so introduce me to gaming in general, or like I played the game and I was like, you know what, I'm about to be a gamer.
SPEAKER_06No, no, it doesn't have to be your I mean if you wanted to be a gamer story, you can, but the first game that was placed into your hands.
SPEAKER_01I mean, so the first game that I ever played that I can't remember was uh I wanna say double dragon.
SPEAKER_05Oh I think that's as far back as I can remember.
SPEAKER_10Like what's in the same stage right now, like I I'm I'm trying to to dig real far.
SPEAKER_01Like that's as far back as I can.
SPEAKER_06Like this making you recant your childhood. That's what I'm trying to do.
SPEAKER_10That's not even making me rethink my childhood. Recant my childhood is like I have to I'm like at this point I'm trying to figure out like am I going by colors?
SPEAKER_06Like I gotta go by over time while you're thinking let's go to shampoo bracelets.
SPEAKER_05Um I think my first game was on the was on a DS and it was a Pokemon game.
SPEAKER_06Okay. You remember which one?
SPEAKER_05Ha, no.
SPEAKER_08Don't give me lying.
SPEAKER_05Between that one and uh Crash Bandicoot on PlayStation.
unknownOkay.
SPEAKER_06Oh, that's you. There it is. You talking about when it was like the little puzzle, uh almost like Mario Party Rugrats game?
SPEAKER_05Yeah, yeah, with the black game.
SPEAKER_06Nah, with the cookies, I hated that with the passion. Great some cheat like shit. I'm sorry, flashback.
SPEAKER_12Uh yeah, it's a physical game.
SPEAKER_04Um my first game that I can remember, I didn't play it, I experienced it while somebody else played it. I've talked to this before was uh Michael Jackson Little Wall.
SPEAKER_09Ah yes, I remember that story.
SPEAKER_04The only game I can remember actually playing and really affecting me was FGL because I was an angry little kid playing. But um, yeah, those are the two.
SPEAKER_06Okay. Uh for me, uh I had one and I was sure of it, and then I remember two others, and now I'm confused. But I'm pretty sure that the first one I played was um the um Super Nintendo cartridge with Super Mario Bros. and Duck Hunt on both sides as a double pack. And my dad bought that TV that had the Super Nintendo built into it, so it would blow the cartridges, change the channel, and then plug it in. It was amazing. It was that one. But also, I remember my cousins had to say good genesis and they had Sonic. That's when I learned I am not a Sonic player back at a very young age. Not a Sonic player. Will I sit and watch and will I play the game and listen to the music? Yeah, not a Sonic player. I'm not the doctor, not Miss Skittles, Doctor, you can live in the world, all that stuff. Sonic's not for me. Nah, he's not. But speaking of Sonic, the doctor.
SPEAKER_11So the first game that I think of that like I really, really enjoyed was probably Super Mario World. Like that was the first game I really sat down and played a bunch, and I could play all night, and I really loved it. But the game I think that really made me got me into like gamer culture, and I really like felt like all gamer, Marvels of Capcom 2.
unknownWow.
SPEAKER_11So I love Marvel's Capcom 2.
SPEAKER_06Wow, that's a good one.
SPEAKER_11It's like I love the character design. It got me into like, you know, learning about metagames and you know, a little bit more of the fighting community. That's why I got the tournaments and all that. And yeah, and today it is my favorite fighting game by a significant marker. I love that game.
SPEAKER_06You just gave me goosebumps because that took me back to the the the arcade at uh Beltway Plaza Mall where they had Marvel.com and like like I agree. That is what introduced me to like competitive fighting games, playing in the art. I was no, actually, I was good until this one kid had this super hyper combo finish with Magneto, Sentinel, and Blackheart. At that moment, I realized I was not a gamer. And I thought he literally he he he tricked me because he hit me and then I hit him back. He was like, Oh, you thought you had a chance. He said it out of his mouth. Then he like clipped me up and it was over. Like every character was Docito with the magnetic.
SPEAKER_09Yes, that's more.
SPEAKER_10I don't remember hitting the ground. You thought you were gonna hit the ground? Nah.
SPEAKER_11Oh my team was always Rogue, Magneto, and Doctor Doom. Oh no, Silock, Magneto, and Doctor Doom.
SPEAKER_10Yes, Silock. That was my team's Captain America, Cable, and Chumley.
SPEAKER_07Blackheart, and I think Captain Commander.
SPEAKER_03Ooh!
SPEAKER_07Yeah, you jumped, you done. You're done.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, uh, who was I? I don't even remember now. It's a long time ago.
SPEAKER_06It's primarily Storm, uh, Rogue, and I would probably switch out between Gambit, Sentinel, and Blackheart. Just to keep it spicy. I like tornadoes. Uh uh Miskato.
SPEAKER_01Um I'm trying to I'm trying to remember right now.
SPEAKER_05Um I for sure for sure Deadpool, but I I can't even remember who have the other X23, but that that's I don't think that's two.
SPEAKER_10That's probably like a great choice. Yes.
SPEAKER_05And Gene Gray.
unknownGene.
SPEAKER_05Oh Phoenix on them.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah, you know, little, you know, a little, you know. Little girl power, you know.
SPEAKER_10I learned I learned at a late age. I'm three team, those are my bitches. I name them athlete, the bitches. Like those are my girls. BB Hood, there it is.
SPEAKER_06I learned I learned late the power of BB Hood. Oh, she's a bad bitch. All that shit in that basket. Uh Black McCoy, sorry. First game.
SPEAKER_10I'm okay. So I've been thinking about this for a minute. Um, and that I'm trying to, I'm juggling between three different things, three different systems. Um the Super Nintendo, my Game Boy, my original Game Boy, and uh my Sega. But I'm pretty sure my Game Boy came before my Sega. And uh the game that sticks out to me on my Game Boy, it was a Ninja Turtles game, and I remember playing it all the time, like going through the sewers and shit like that, and fighting like the the doctor was turned into like a fly, uh like a fly creature thing. I can't remember the name of the game specifically, but I'm pretty sure it was like it was the Nintendo like Game Boy handheld, because it was like it was gray, it was the classical one. It was gray, gray and purple, and had um like the different gradients, and it reminded you of like a calculator with the graphics. Texas Instrument Game Boys.
SPEAKER_07Uh oh, Kazet. Uh yes, I'm probably gonna date myself.
SPEAKER_10I look like you did it like you forgot he was sitting right next to you. For a second. I was I was looking for him.
SPEAKER_07I was like, but uh yeah, I'm probably probably gonna date myself a bit. But uh let's see, I was I don't actually recall it, but I was told I I owned an Atari. Um and I do and I do faint and I do faintly remember playing uh Pong, which was its own system. And I also remember playing uh breakout, which I don't even remember what that was on. I don't know if that was Jaguar or Atari. Calegal video? Uh yeah, I'm not I'm not sure. I see on the Sega Master system too.
SPEAKER_01I thought I did it because when I said double dragon, I feel like nobody knew what that was.
SPEAKER_06Y'all shared in that memory.
SPEAKER_07Oh yeah, you were seeing it. Uh fuck yeah, I had original Game Boy, so that was like Tetris and like whatever the first Zelda was on that. Uh I I had those like single uh those like single game, like little small uh portable systems, like you put the batteries in and it plays again at the calculator like Gwen said and it could it could turn them back to hands of time, Lord Solitary. I don't know what the first one was, but I'm gonna go I'm gonna go ahead with uh with Pong.
SPEAKER_08Pong at the dawn of the creation of games.
SPEAKER_02Oh my god.
SPEAKER_06Oh, oh, what's the next okay? So we're probably gonna get um I I know one person specifically on this panel is gonna be upset about this question, and I know that people are gonna feel some type of way about this question, but I'm gonna ask it anyway. Oh, it's feel I it feels like by the eyes I'm seeing, that person knows that I'm talking to them. And the question is what is better, anime or manga? Shampoo bracelets.
SPEAKER_04Um you know what? That's a hard question because it all depends on what you're looking for. Like, I don't know. I'm going to say personally, just because of my taste as of late, manga. Manga kills anime to me for some odd reason. I like anime. I am I originally was introduced to medium because of anime. So it wasn't like I was like, I just mega all day, and then one day I was like, I'm gonna watch this. What manga animated? Nah, I was the other way around. So um I was originally introduced to anime. I was originally fell in love with anime, but then Bobby came and snatched me away.
SPEAKER_05It's annoying as hell when like he's read, like if we're watching an anime together, but he's already read the mega, and then he's like, I ooh, I can't wait. I can't wait. And I'm like, can't wait for what? I'm not gonna tell you. Well then shut the hell up.
SPEAKER_04She don't want me to tell her the story before we watch it. And I'm like, nah. Just because I need a break to not just what the hell you do. She was straight up spoiled. But no, uh, yeah, like I said, personally, I'll say manga because uh how it how the story is a little bit underscribed. And a lot of times the animates they don't necessarily find ways to actually improve upon what the manga started. It's very rare I've seen that. Like I said, I think that's why so many people love uh Full Metal Optimist Brotherhood, because they statched that. Yeah, the brotherhood was stated directly from the manga. Yeah, where the first one was just, oh, we just had to figure out an ending. Yeah. Um, I think Soul Eater would have been much better if they had taken that from the if they had taken that from the manga.
SPEAKER_10Eon's better. Like little.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, it would have been so much better if they had just done that from the manga the way it was supposed to be done. Yeah. Um Naoto got really good when they start snatching from the manga left and right. Like it was like, so it was, it not it stopped doing all the fills shit. But like it was uh that yeah, it that's that's pretty much what it was. The story was more stressed out.
SPEAKER_05I mean, I think also that's why people like a tag on Titan, because according to him, they stay really close to the game.
SPEAKER_04Tag on Titan falls close to the chest. Like it's there, there's the only stuff they'll actually improve upon is the action scenes, because the action scenes normally don't run that long and they they have to do that. Also, like uh reason why I like um God High School is the same thing. It's like they'll they improve upon the action scenes, but because they were done so well in the manga, it's really not much they have to do in anime.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_04So so they that's another one where it's like, yeah, they that they've improved upon it. So it's hard for me to answer that because I said anime can be better than manga, it's just they don't. So manga.
SPEAKER_03Okay.
SPEAKER_05You already said my answer. I don't read. That's it. Like another day he was reading something. Like I was like, just reading all the pictures. I was like, okay, Usagi, are you done with your manga today? So but yeah, anime for me. I haven't gotten to that world.
SPEAKER_10Okay.
SPEAKER_06Uh the Black McCoy.
SPEAKER_10I cannot pick one or the others because I I I definitely think that manga has its strengths over anime, and I know that I have shows that I prefer to watch instead of read. Like One Piece, I can't read One Piece. I tried. I I it's like the the experience is entirely different from watching the anime, and I don't get that same kind of feeling. I don't get that same fulfillment from reading One Piece. So that's one of the ones I have to like let it go. Like Seven Deadly Sins. I watched Seven Deadly Sins and it was dope. Um, and then I started reading Seven Deadly Sins and it was better for me reading it than it was watching it. And then with Naruto, I'm in a similar place. Like I got tired of all the filler and I got tired of waiting, so I just went ahead and started reading it. Reading it was way better than watching it and going through most of that filler. So I finished the show like before the I finished the I finished before the show was actually over. And I remember like when I ended, when I finished reading the Naruto manga, I'm like, y'all haven't gotten here yet? God damn, like, what the fuck are y'all doing? Like, is this all the why? Um and the action for in the Naruto manga did it, like nothing changed for me between the show and reading. Um I was still back to the mom, I was still back to the anime for like the special like episodes, like when Modernar came back and was mowing down niggas on the battlefield, um and went painful. Naruto, like I would come back for those moments because they would you know had special animation. So I wanted to see that shit. But um otherwise, um, I'm kind of right there in the middle. It really depends on me. Like for Attack on Titan, like I didn't care a whole lot for the art style of the manga for Attack on Titan. So I I was better off, you know, I was better off watching it. I didn't at Hunter Hunter is, I just don't really have much of a choice because I have to read that one. So because they aren't making any more episodes anytime soon.
SPEAKER_05Is it that bad?
SPEAKER_04No, it's it's that no, it's good. And the manga, the manga dudes like berserk. Like how berserk is? Yeah.
SPEAKER_09Yeah.
SPEAKER_04Okay.
SPEAKER_07Uh uh, I think I'm a little bit uh like the black McCoy, where it kind of it kind of comes down to what story you're telling. Like uh, like one, every every manga artist is not good at uh doing action in their panels. So sometimes they have a lot, they have like a lot going on and they're not and they're not good at conveying uh direction and motion. So it's just a lot on there. So stuff like that, I would prefer to s to see the anime because we can see it animated. Um I don't know, I I think I prefer a good story being told through the manga until um until you get too wordy, like if if like text boxes are taking up 60% of the thing, then I kind of don't want to read it anymore. And at that point I can just be listening. Um but um but the it but then at the same time if you uh if you have like a multi-layer like in-depth story, then the fact that I can stop and reread that immediately and I don't gotta worry about pausing and going back and seeing what the hell I miss. So you know it really depends on like the type. Uh but if I think if I had to choose one, I think I think ultimately uh if you pick like the right story and uh and the and the director uh translates it uh very well, I think I think an anime can do a bit more than manga. Like I think I think it's it's rare the actual type of manga where you couldn't do it better. Right. As as an anime, it's just it's just you just did they just didn't have the budget or they didn't or they didn't have the right uh director. Right. Or but you know, but it's rare that like you have a story that like like, oh, this wasn't supposed to come off the page. Right. You know, and though they have manga like that, but I think that's you know, few and far between. So especially the way I am right now, I'm I'm definitely more likely to you know put an anime on and because I'm always multitasking. Right. It's easy, it's easier to do that with anime. You can't multitask every month.
SPEAKER_06You can't, it's not possible. It's not possible. I've I've never seen it done properly unless you have like a manga audible, but uh audible? Uh uh yeah, audiobook. Yeah, I don't see it working. Um yeah, I've always I've always I've always felt uh anime, I'm not gonna say anime over manga, but I'm just not a manga person. I tried it. I always tried things at least once years ago, back when I was in, what was it, middle school, high school, high school, I guess. I tried manga because I was introduced to anime and manga uh at the same time, and manga was not for me. Uh, not because I can't read, not because I don't enjoy reading, but I always felt from looking at it, manga always looked like the storyboard of animation. So when you're you know, when you're about to create a cartoon or CGI film, you have a storyboard and you're sketching out, okay, what's gonna be in this panel, what's gonna be in this panel? To me, that's what manga is. And then my concept in my mind is it takes it from that storyboard into animation, and then that's what the anime is. So, like Kaze has, you know, told me for years, well, there are certain anime or manga that tell the story even in more detail in the manga on on those pages than they do in the anime. I'm like, that's really depressing. I'm still not gonna read it, but that's really depressing because I really want to know more about the story. But, you know, uh, I think I've it more so I've seen a lot more animes that have, based off of what I've heard, taken. I I think even um shampoo bracelets, uh, The Black McCoy and uh Kazi have stated, have taken what was in the on the pages or what was in the manga and went into more detail. Whether it was the fight scenes were more thought out, maybe it's a specific concept in the story was brought to life a little bit better, or maybe something that was beautifully drawn on the manga was brought to life with even more vibrant colors in the anime. Um a whole new side story. Or a whole new a whole new side story. And I don't know why everybody hates not everybody, but a lot of people hate um fillers and side stories. I actually enjoy them because it gives me a little bit more insight into the characters. I don't think people this I'm probably gonna get a lot of flack for this, but I don't think people would hate Sakura as much as they do if they really paid attention to a lot of the fillers she was in. I'm gonna leave that there. That ain't what it's about, but I'm just gonna say that. Yeah, Miss Kittles will find it, but I'm gonna say it and I'm gonna keep it moving.
SPEAKER_04I was gonna look at that point.
SPEAKER_06I was like But since Ms Kittel's got that face on, I'm gonna let you go next. I'm gonna let you finish. Go ahead.
SPEAKER_01So um, so I'm not a huge uh manga reader. Um, so I'm I'm gonna go with anime only for that reason.
SPEAKER_05Um I do read, so I I know that typically a a book or or anything um as far as reading material goes, the the book or the manga is typically better than the movie or uh anime or whatever. Um and for that reason, um, like for example, there are there are movies that I would would never watch after reading the book. Um so so I because I enjoy anime so much, I don't want to ruin that for myself because I know if I read I I read a manga and it's like dope as hell and I watch the anime, I'm gonna beat this as fuck.
SPEAKER_01So I I just rather I just rather not do that to myself.
SPEAKER_03Right.
SPEAKER_04That's what I wish I kind of wish there's some magas, I just didn't touch and I was like, oh I might have fucked this whole thing up. Like you said, so eater. I probably would like soul eater who was beating beating maggots.
SPEAKER_01Right. Yeah, so I said to my food.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, okay. Uh round that question off with the doctor.
SPEAKER_11Right. It's it's a tough one, like, because I definitely do enjoy both. Um I do feel like with anime, it it conveys action, you know, like you know, uh Kase said, like it conveys action in a way that you know I find a lot more enjoyable. You know, I think that's one of the things I really love about you know anime. And you know, the vibrancy of color, you know, as well. Like that's I think that as a medium, I do enjoy anime more. But in terms of like, if I compare, say, an anime to its manga, you know, in terms of storyline, most of the time I like the manga more. Like there are very few examples where I enjoy, you know, I like the storyline of an anime more than it's manga. Um, even though I think anime is like a medium I enjoy overall more for other reasons. So all right.
SPEAKER_06Next question. It's gonna be an interesting one. I know my answer. What is better? Simpsons or family guy? And I'm going to start with the doctor.
SPEAKER_11Ooh, okay. Let me try not to make too many enemies. American guys. So I'll I'll use my eye statements. There it is. I think it's Simpsons and I don't think it's close. For a lot of different reasons. I feel like I do enjoy Family Guy and Family Guy is you know, really funny as well, but um I think Family Guy's humor, especially with the gags and whatnot, you know, it's like it's good for a one-off, but like when it starts to feel really random after a while, you know, and I think it's I like the structure a sentence has a little bit more. Like I feel like a lot of sentences like, oh, well, especially older sentence, you know. Like, oh, well, this is like a lot of people really spend some time on this. Because with Family Guy, I don't get that same sense. Although I do think Family Guy pushes the envelope on certain issues where, you know, I like that they push an envelope a little bit further. Yeah, but also push the envelope on things that I'm like, oh, you know, if I whip someone need to go, and it's it's icy, but yeah, I would go with Simpsons.
SPEAKER_06All right. Uh let's go. Kaze.
SPEAKER_07Uh I'm I'm leaning a bit towards uh the doctor, whereas uh I think I think Family Guy goes for uh accuracy by volume type thing where they I I don't think Family Guy is a lot less comfortable letting time pass without a joke or a game. And so it's just like it's like uh there's a even even if even if something falls through, there's enough funny jokes where you just kind of feel like, okay, yes, you know, that was funny, I was laughing about that whole episode. Whereas like Simpsons, they feel more comfortable like kind of telling a story. They're they'll feel you know, they'll they'll like they'll let five or seven minutes pass and it won't be a whole actual joke, it'll be built, it'll be built up, and then the joke comes, yeah, and you can tell there's a lot of thought put into it, and it's uh really funny. And but and and but by by that same thing, but there's certain you know, if if if say if the Simpsons built seven minutes up for a joke and then that joke fell through, yeah, then that's a long time you wasn't, you know, you wasn't entertained, right? So like so I feel like uh I feel like Family Guy is a bit more consistent, but then it's also a bit more mediocre.
SPEAKER_02Right.
SPEAKER_07And yeah, like Simpsons at its best is like super high tier. Yeah. And then but then when it's bad, it's just kind of like uh.
SPEAKER_10But but I think ultimately also wanted to end the show for a while, but they won't let them.
SPEAKER_07They will not let them in. Yeah, and and um, and uh, and and and if there wasn't if there was no Simpsons, there would be no fabric. Also true. So 100%. Um yeah, I'm definitely gonna have to go Simpsons.
SPEAKER_06I this kind of difficult because I kind of didn't want to answer this question, even though I know the answer to that question. Um, because I I agree with what the doctor and Kaze are saying. It's actually a documentary that uh Kaze had we we watched a while back where uh a gentleman kind of went into the details of kind of the storyline of the Simpsons. And pretty I think the title was like when uh When Did The Simpsons fail or when did it start to fall? I think it was the The Rise and Fall of the Simpsons. The Rise and Fall of The Simpsons. Um I he'll get the reference in a moment. Um, but during that documentary, he's pretty much just explaining, you know, everybody loves the first few seasons of The Simpsons for those reasons. The the joke lines, the building of the story, the character building, uh bleeding gums. I can just throw that out there. Uh Michael Jackson's you know voice appearance, Lisa, I'm not gonna start singing, but yeah, it was just amazing. Um and I agree with Family Guy, Family Guy has consistent, it's almost like uh that that concept of throwing a hundred darts or a hundred sticky things at the wall, and some of them will fall, but the ones that stick are the jokes that they actually hit.
SPEAKER_07So that's what accuracy by volume is.
SPEAKER_06Oh, oh, is that what that means? Well, look at that. I just learned something. Accuracy by volume. Um, so so you know, it's it's a lot of jokes. And I was uh the earlier stuff, well, I wanna say the earlier stuff. There's a good medium of episodes that I can say I've laughed almost all the way through a Family Guys uh season or so. But then there's some where I'm sitting there, I'm like, okay, all right. Uh oh, oh okay, all right. Oh, ooh, ooh, ooh, uh right. And you know, it's depending on who you are, uh, what episode you're watching, there's a level of uncomfortability, uh uncomfortability. Discomfort, sorry, uh, as well as you know, humor, depending on who you are, the things that you find funny based off the topics that they touch on and they don't touch on. But Simpsons, as we said, the the drama that they build, I think they said, I think he actually said the fall was around the time that Maud passed. Once Maud was uh Maud Flanders was gone, that was kind of like where do is pretty much what everybody was saying. Uh so my vote is for this. Um, yeah. I'm gonna I'm uh I'm gonna say the I'm gonna say shampoo bracelets.
SPEAKER_03Hey, what's the answer?
SPEAKER_07Also the name the name of that video is the the Fall The Simpsons by Super I Patrick is pretty good. Yeah.
SPEAKER_05Um, okay, so my answer would be a little, I guess, biased maybe because growing up I wasn't allowed to watch The Simpsons for some reason.
SPEAKER_10Same neither.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, like my mom always felt like Bart was a bad influence, so she didn't want to watch it. Um where my uncle will let my cousin watch it. Whatever.
SPEAKER_02That was fantastic.
SPEAKER_05Um, so for me, it was family guy because she didn't watch the show, and I was just like, oh yeah, I want to I want these DVDs of the seasons so I can watch them. And my dad knew what it was, but he didn't care.
SPEAKER_02Right.
SPEAKER_05So um I always loved the little Stewie Bryan episodes that was like just Stewie Brian. Those are like my favorite. Like, especially the episode where they were in that reverse universe and Stewie was gonna take a poop on the grass, he'd look at the poop. Pick up my poop, Brian. Like, so um, those were my favorite. So Family Guy would be my answer for me.
SPEAKER_09Wait, you remember that episode? She was like, I don't have a second bag. Here's a thin napkin.
SPEAKER_02All right, sure.
SPEAKER_05What is how he beat up Brian in the bathtub? It was like, yes, let this ride.
SPEAKER_04Now I would say uh I was so I grew up watching Simpsons um from early childhood. One reason being I found this out later on, my mother almost named me after Bart.
SPEAKER_05Oh no. That'd have been awful. Yeah, Tiffany, that's my face too.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. My name was almost she wasn't named me just Bart. She was gonna name me Bartholomew. She liked the name. She uh she liked the character that much. So yeah, I was got the black McCoy. Thank God. No, thank you, thank God.
SPEAKER_10Oh god.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, somebody was thank God.
SPEAKER_10Bartholomew Muse. I'm just the Mew Mew. Bartholomew Muse. That doesn't look like this don't sound good.
SPEAKER_12It's gonna sound right. Bartholomew That's so bad.
SPEAKER_04Oh no. I'm gonna get out meow, meow, meow, meow, meow, meow, meow, meow. But uh, but no, I um I grew up watching The Simpsons, but I fell in love quickly with Stanley Guy. Right. These were the first, I'll say four to five seasons or something like that.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_04Um like uh like Suchino Shogun was saying, I was almost I was in tears almost every yeah episode with the first couple seasons. At one point, I would either cry the tears or I would just be laughing. It was like it was it was so funny to me. And that's because to me it was like the writer, they took the writer of Simpsons and put him in a group with the writer of uh South Park and said, let's make a show that's like the Simpsons but pushes in an ombre. Now, in saying that, like I said, after the cut after the first four or five seasons, yes, everything got in my mind called off. So I can't necessarily say, and I can never necessarily say I thought it was a better show. I just thought it had it was funnier to my system.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_04Um Simpsons, on the other hand, was more of like a comedy job. Where it was, I think they did a better job of world building. Like I wasn't, I found other characters in Family Got Funny, but I fell in love with other characters as a subject. I found them interesting. I want to learn more about them. And every once in a while they would shed some light on them here. Like I would like to know the story of Bart. Mainly because of that one time where he just broke out the opera singing in the middle of the bar, and I never get over how good they sound. But like so it was like, it's like there's there's moments that the Simpsons uh do with their background characters and their main characters, that's not so much tied to comedy. There is some there's some realism and some uh I'll say seriousness to those characters. But Family Guy, every time they try to do something serious with the characters, it just doesn't, it's either really depressing or it doesn't come off way.
SPEAKER_06It's very depressing.
SPEAKER_04So and then and then sooner or later they'll end up taking it back anyway, like the whole Brian situation. Yeah, I think they could have probably done more.
SPEAKER_05Uh you mean the episode where they kill them and then they say ha ha ha, he's back. Yeah, that pissed me off.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, exactly.
SPEAKER_06If you do something like that, that's just gonna piss people off. I was like, really? I I'm I'm pissed, I'm upset.
SPEAKER_04Right. I'm pissed that you're not gonna piss that you took it back. It's like I don't know which one I'm more mad about.
SPEAKER_10Absolutely. Yeah, that's weird because I remember everyone when I found out everyone was upset about it. I was like, I was I was I wasn't phased. I was like, oh, okay, they killed Brian. Cool. I wonder what's gonna happen next. Oh, okay, Brian's not actually dead. Ha, I see each other there. I thought the whole situation, I was I think I enjoyed that in particular because I was I found it hilarious that everyone was mad about it, and then I found it even more hilarious that they they took it, they took everyone's outrage and then made more fun of made fun of their audience more for being upset about it in the in the first place and just brought by Brian brought Brian back um at the end of the hall. So I thought that it was one of those things. For me, that particular situation with Family Guy was one of those like more kind of meta commentaries on people's relationship to the show and the character rather than uh a poor writing choice or a dumb writing choice. Uh, that to me seemed more like the creators making fun of the audience themselves and toying with them a bit more, which I like. I like when people tour with their audience and send the messages through the actual medium that they're working with.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, and that's what I was saying. Like if I look at it from that perspective, but look at it from the actual comedy perspective of what Family Guy really is, like it is that their family guy is just a continuous comedy. Well, they're making fun of you, they're making fun of everybody else, it doesn't matter. It's a continuous comedy. There's no real to it. It's all comedy. Where Simpsons, you get more of a it's more of an actual story.
SPEAKER_05Well, between that and you know, apparently the Simpsons is is has those little moments where you know it's happening in reality.
SPEAKER_06Yeah.
SPEAKER_04That highside 2020 is big.
SPEAKER_06I'm still stuck on the fact that Trump was president. Yeah, people still not even predictions. Oh, we're just making fun. Somebody has the Mayan calendar over there at the center of the real stuff.
SPEAKER_05But um, you know, everybody's still waiting for the end of that story.
SPEAKER_06Still, I sure uh oh I let me tell before I go to Miss Skittles. So I'm still kind of stuck, to be completely honest. Um, because you just made no, because because shampoo bracelets just like brought up a lot of good facts, and like it's funny because I remember back in the day when we were literally watching episode of Family Guy the night before and then go and meet up the next day and retell the entire story word for word and just just fall out laughing all over again. And again, it's those first four or so, four or five, three or four seasons that really did it. And it's like those came in when Simpsons hit that lull. So that's why I'm really conflicted because it's like I love those first you know, first seasons of The Simpsons when they hit the lull and then Family Guy came in. I love those first seasons of Family Guy. But then when they hit their thing, I was like, so I'm not gonna watch American Dad. So I got nothing. So I wasn't doing it.
SPEAKER_05Oh my god.
SPEAKER_06Uh, but to finish, I'm oh god, I'm just gonna say Family Guy because I agree. Simpsons Simpsons has characters that I I can almost say till now, all of us can say we remember at least one to ten characters from The Simpsons that you remember an episode about them, a story about them, an occasion about them. Family Guy, although everybody had a different story, things start to overlap because everything's a joke, everything restarts. Uh so I'll still say Family Guy because it's funny, um, but Simpsons because I enjoy the world building and the character building. So I'm gonna say both. Um Miss Gips.
SPEAKER_05That is not a conclusion. That is not a conclusion.
SPEAKER_06Well, they changed both last time anyway.
SPEAKER_05Um I so I didn't I didn't grow up on the Simpsons.
SPEAKER_01Uh South Park, like none of that. He was but ahead. I wasn't I wasn't allowed to watch any of that stuff.
SPEAKER_10My parents were the same, but my mom didn't want me watching Simpsons, she actually didn't want me to watch a family guy, but I managed to make that happen. Yeah, me too. She didn't want me watching South Park, she didn't want me watching, you know, and stuff like that. But I'd seen some of this and butthead because you know I'll be home by myself sometimes because of the 90s. Um, but yeah, I mean we we've we found our way.
SPEAKER_01Right.
SPEAKER_05So like like y'all was saying, uh, you know, uh family guy kind of popped up during the the Simpsons the Simpsons, you know, downhill spiral, whatever. So I mean, I that was a time where I was able to, you know, watch things, you know, without my mom or anybody over my head. Like, what you doing? What you watching? So I I would I would have to say Family Guy for that reason. Um by you know, by the time I was old enough to watch whatever I wanted, senses had been on for what, like it's from the 80s, like 89 and stuff like that. So I'm not about to go back and watch all of that. For what? I'm still you know, watch anime, you know. So yeah, um, yeah, so for me it's it's just family guy. Um and that's just that's just basically it. I didn't I I saw episodes of The Simpsons here and there, you know, especially the ones where where they, you know, seeing the future or whatever. But um and I'm familiar with all the characters, but I just did not go back and watch all of them for the years. So yeah, it was fantastic.
SPEAKER_07I I was gonna say I think uh another another thing uh comparison comparing them is like uh why since since since census did have a uh a certain like meta-narrative going throughout the seasons, like you know, behind the gags, it's uh it's a completely different uh experience coming into it later versus watching it in order. Like if you're just why if you're just catching uh Simpsons reruns, is you know, you lose a lot of that character buildup and nuance because it's because everything's out of order. Right. So like so it's so I can definitely I can definitely see why if you if you came in a bit later and you know you got your Simpsons, you got your Futurama, and you got you know you got all these shows and all these things, and then Family Guy came in and kind of did you know something fresh.
SPEAKER_06I can definitely say something from everyone and then made it current to what was going on.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, but yeah, but watch but watching Simpsons as it came on was definitely like its own thing, and there was nothing else to compare it to. There was nothing.
SPEAKER_05So um Yeah, I will say that's the point because with Family Guy, you can pretty much hop in and watch whatever episodes you want. Yeah, because it doesn't matter.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, it doesn't matter at all.
SPEAKER_05What you just said about the Simpsons, yeah. I'm like Timmy I ain't going back and watch all them episodes.
SPEAKER_06I I wouldn't force you to unless you have like a uh like two days to kill because like every now and then FX goes back and like plays all the episodes of Simpsons for like a week because they own the rights of them now. So you can like just say if you want, you can start from episode one and just sit down and watch.
SPEAKER_10I mean, you know, if you have Disney Plus, you can go and do that.
SPEAKER_06Also, yeah, Disney Plus, there you go. They own it too. It still confuses me, but I'm not gonna get into that.
SPEAKER_05I don't care enough.
SPEAKER_06There you go.
SPEAKER_08Speak your truth, girl. Speak your truth. That's facts.
SPEAKER_07That's also true. Like they a lot of stuff that's going on in the world, they just stuck into an episode. Yep. And if you're watching that shit out of all that shit, doesn't matter. It's very confusing.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, you're like, who is this person who got this Maya calendar? They need to speak up.
SPEAKER_06Uh did you see that meme that said uh the uh the uh the Mayans uh laughing at the fact that whatever calendar somebody's reading that used to say 2012 is supposed to say 2021. Yeah, they switched the numbers. Right.
SPEAKER_08Um The Black Bacoin.
SPEAKER_10Um just like like um like Domo and Tiven, like I wasn't allowed to watch The Simpsons, so like when I did start watching Family Guy, like I immediately latched onto it. And even if I if I think about all of my sensibilities now, like I would, and even if I did watch all of The Simpsons, I think that I would still choose Family Guy. Partly because um one, the music, like that's one thing that has always drawn me back to Family Guy, regardless of what they're doing in an episode. The possibility of always getting this beautiful song or this fun song from Seth McFarlane and was always that that that alone kept me coming back. And what's interesting is that I actually so after I've been watching Family Guy and I, you know, seen episodes out of order and like finally got to a point in my life from my, oh, I know what season is happening right now, or I know when the new season's coming out, I went back and watched Family Guy from the very beginning, and I kind of watched the progression of not only just the animation and you know the quality, but just the the quality of the writing and the storytelling and how it the different tonal shifts and characters and things like that. And what I found most interesting is that at least when as you as you and Mark were talking about, is like their you the height of Family Guy for you all was during that time where they got canceled a couple times. Like Family Guy got canceled twice, maybe. I think two or three times. I'm pretty sure they get at least were canceled twice, and they still managed to come back, which I thought was pretty amazing. Um, I don't know if that happened to The Simpsons, maybe, maybe not.
SPEAKER_06But longest running episodic animated show show, I'm sorry, longest running episodic show of all time.
SPEAKER_04It's the only show that Fox it's the only good show Fox ever had that they didn't cancel.
SPEAKER_06Right. Everything was being canceled around it multiple times, it just kept on chugging through.
SPEAKER_10Listen, but yeah, no, so I think um but yeah, um, my Tiger family guys, the music, as well as the fact that when I think about a lot of the episodes that they do, they the the commentary is always there. Sometimes you have to look for it, but it the gags are always the gags don't always hit like they used to, I will say. Like and I I wanna say it might have been around because I remember when I watched Family Guy from episode one all the way up to you know the point that they were at, which was I want to say it had to have been in like maybe 2012 or 2013 or 14 at the time. I can't remember exactly. But um it was I wanna, if I'm remembering correctly on my analysis, it might have been around season seven or eight when it started to drop off for me, and some of the jokes just started, you know, you know, just happening for the sake of happening. And I do think American Dad had something to do with it because Stephanie Fron was trying to shift over into doing something else. But I also think that's because he didn't want Family Guy to become, he didn't want Family Guy to become his Simpsons. He didn't want the show to define the majority of his career. So you know, he started working on all the projects. He branched off with the Cleveland show, he branched off with American Dad, and he even had like the the the audaciousness to want to create a shared universe between them and parry them off of parody uh parody them off of one another, which I thought was phenomenal. So at the end of the day, Family Guy does it for me, and I even their more depressing episodes are some of their better episodes, like the episode where Brian and Stuart were locked in the bank. Like that's one of my favorite episodes because it's that's one of those episodes where Seth McCrawlin stops and he does, and you see that there's more writing and character development that takes place there than that. I don't think you get in this like super dramatic way with some episodes of The Simpsons. And I'm saying that not having seen The Simpsons at all. Thank you. But the the um But I I have well, I have seen The Simpsons, but I haven't like watched the full continuity of it, right? But um but like like y'all were saying earlier, just based on that alone, is more like The Simpsons will kind of tell a story and you the joke will hit eventually. But that's one of those episodes of Family Guy where the joke never comes and it leaves you thinking about something more heavily. And so I like those moments. I like those moments when Seth takes the time to stop trying to necessarily be funny and just be intense and intentional about what he's doing with his project.
SPEAKER_06Okay, all right. Don't want to take up everybody's time. Uh for I'm not saying you specifically, I just mean in general because I actually have a lot of questions left. I'm just do one final question. So, it's the final question of this episode. I hope you're prepared. You ready? No. Great. So I want you to take a second, think of all the characters from all your cartoons, all the characters from all your video games, all the characters from your anime, and everything you ever seen, right? Who is your if you could turn a character into your spirit animal, who would it be? So the same way if you remember Yu-Gi-Oh! No, wait, wait, wait. The same way if you remember when Yu-Gi-Oh, they took a card and made it their deck master, and that deck master had special ability that allowed them to do special things, who would what character would be your spirit animal, your deck master, the person that allowed what's that? It's called a stand from um JoJo? Jojo. Who would be your stand? Who would be your persona? Who is that character out of all the other characters that um we lost Miss Skittles? Out of all the characters everywhere possible that you've ever encountered, who would be your person who would be your personal who would be your man, who would be your deckmaster, who would be your spirit animal, who would be your muse? Sorry. Who would that character be? And because I am so great, instead of allowing you all to start, I'm going to allow Kaze to start.
SPEAKER_07Oh man. But um let's see.
SPEAKER_01Uh I think I have mine.
SPEAKER_07See, I don't feel like explaining Kavar as from a book. Uh so I'm gonna go and already gave Eisen his shine.
SPEAKER_06You did quite quite quite detailed shine. Actually, you had more you didn't get to say.
SPEAKER_07Uh yeah. At a later time. I'll keep finding more. But um Yeah, I'm gonna go with uh uh Dr. Doom. I figured that was we just had like a very long conversation. Like like the more like the more like I kind of like look him up and like read his stories and see like his character evolve. I just like more honestly more than any like uh hero, like like like like heroes come on top because they were written to do so.
SPEAKER_06Very true.
SPEAKER_07Whereas like the Doom is so overwhelmingly capable and and and like and and he just like persists through so many things. And and especially the fact that like he's like he's a man and he came like from nothing. From nothing, yeah. And he is so far outstripped like what that means and what and what he and what he does. Like I think if I nah, you know, I I don't I don't think he doesn't he necessarily uh speaks to me in any any of my abilities, but but if I decided to pick somebody um yeah, I think Dr. Doom like would he will he will regardless of what you put in front of Doom, doom Doom will prevail.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, I can't disagree with that at all. And it's hard to follow up. I should have made you go last. Um it's funny because I went to like five five people in my head, because remember I wrote these questions, uh, but I thought it'd be unfair for me to think of it beforehand, so I completely wiped my mind before we started. So uh I just came up with one after uh Kaze went over um Dr. Doom. And the choice that I made, oddly enough, is Majora's mask. Is it really not? No, no, no, it actually was. Um, and the reason being is um I had, like I said, I had several other people that I had chosen. Um several other people that I had chosen. Uh I won't go through them right now because I'll use them for something else later. But Majora's mask specifically is supposed to be kind of this, you know, inanimate object that was, I don't know if you use the word curse, but it was infused with certain certain type of abil uh not abilities, uh powers. And those powers were sealed within the mask by an ancient civilization as it's read within the game. That ancient civilization uh could have been a uh uh the ancient civilization, based off of the the markings on the mask, could specifically go back to either Native American or African descent. And based off of those, I did a little digging years ago, and there's a specific mask from somebody's backstory um that kind of coincides with how Majora's Mass reacts to things. And if I was to put those two together, Majora's Mass has the ability to literally change all elements from one element to another, almost in an almost uh alchem alchemaic way. Alchemic, thank you. Alchemic way. So uh ability to change elements, the ability to control people, obviously, if you've played the game or watched anything about it, uh, the ability to manipulate memories, uh, alter people's uh actually he can reverse age, reverse time, uh not he, but the mask can reverse age, reverse time. Uh it gives you the ability to uh keep people in an endless cycle of time. Uh it actually has the ability almost close to Wanda uh uh uh from um the Marvel Universe, uh Scarlet Witch, uh, to be able to alter probability as well. So the mask can do a whole bunch. So having it as my uh uh persona or my death master, I think, would be phenomenal because I'd have the ability to not necessarily uh I wouldn't don the mask because I think nobody got time for that, but I would I would allow the mask to work through me to be able to, you know, handle some some things that need to be handled, you know, all the time in the day or resetting people's three days. Do you know how much and how much you can get done by literally re-zeroing three days and resetting like I didn't do it right, gotta do it again. You'd go crazy, you know. Nobody likes groundhog day, but i i I I think I'd enjoy it. But anyway, um I will throw it to the Black McCoy.
SPEAKER_10I've gone through a couple people. Um, my first thought was Lady Satsuki from Kill I Kill. Um my second thought was dark side. I think it is my third was stitch, but I wouldn't put Stitch in that kind of position. Um It's weird because I want to settle. On some of my favorite villains, but I think the person that I would have to really hand the torch to would be Myrtle Snow from American Horror Story Coven, that third season.
SPEAKER_03Wow.
SPEAKER_10Yeah. Myrtle Snow was a brilliant witch. She had more knowledge and more aptitude than even the Supreme at some times. She had more she had the ability to be the most strategic. She was on top of all of that, the most fabulous and most well-rounded in terms of the fashion, the world of witches. So when that when I watched that episode, I was playing Pokemon Alpha Sapphire at the time. I had a Gengar that I named Balenciaga. She was amazing. But no, Myrtle Snow, her her wit, her cunning, her persistence, her power, her like she it's like she has always been around as she's never been the person in power, but she's always been the person who is the advisor. She's always been the one who can point out the person that doesn't need to be in power. And I think that appeals always, that always appeals to my the notion that I keep with myself that I would never want to be in a position of power, but I always would like to be the one who supports that position and make sure that it's going in the right direction.
SPEAKER_06Okay. I'm going to throw it over to the doctor.
SPEAKER_11Alright. So it's interesting. When you say spirit animal, I kind of restricted it to actual animals. There are definitely a few I can think of, but probably one that stands out a lot is Xerneas from Pokemon X and Y. The legendary Pokemon, you know, that's um the fairy type who is the embodiment of eternal life.
SPEAKER_02Yes.
SPEAKER_11You know, and it's a whole story is that you know he's kind of opposite uh the embodiment of death, and there's this great war between them. But when I think of like how, you know, what I like about you know, people like about uh Xerneas, the association with you know him being such a life and healing and a willingness to, you know, the ability to literally like revive people and you know for others to no limit, really, from what we've seen. Umestic symbol of nature, you know, like this huge, like gorgeous deal with like the antlers and whatnot, and having really strong associates with nature and being a protector of nature, um, and you know, in being this basically this uh entity that is you know both revered but feels this responsibility to people to an extent. Like that's something that comes up a lot, where you know, as um who's uh his counterpart is about like oh you know, the cycle of death, like you know, Zonius is the protector of life. You know, that's something that definitely like resonates with me a lot as far as why I you know I love this character. Um and you know, just from a gameplay standpoint, uh he's amazing.
SPEAKER_07With that geomancy buff. I know, I know the real reason.
SPEAKER_11With the power of geomancy with that special attack, special defense speed, it's it's great. No, no, um Xernius is fantastic.
SPEAKER_07So that's I love I love how Xerneas looks exactly like the uh the the spirit from uh Princess Mononoka.
SPEAKER_11Yeah exactly.
SPEAKER_06Huh Wow, that just it just hit appropriate and almost the same. Yeah, almost okay.
SPEAKER_10Um the Japanese have one actually pull from. We don't have a whole lot except racism, so you got one more second.
SPEAKER_01So this is ridiculous. I just want to say that.
SPEAKER_06I have done my job.
SPEAKER_01Um so after Deliberations I am going to say Urza Scarlet from Fairy Tale. That still is a cheat ass. Yes, she's she's uh she's a maid. She's literally a jack of all trades. Like, I mean, she's got over yes, uh she's got over uh a hundred um magical requips or whatever. She's got like 200 some weapons, like she and and like you said, she's master of all.
SPEAKER_05Um she's got great moral compass.
SPEAKER_10So it just she basically saw herself.
unknownShe did.
SPEAKER_05Yes, yes, and she only got one eye whole time. So yeah, I mean this this woman is she's fucking amazing. Yeah, I don't even know what else to I I couldn't even I couldn't even you know and and the individual die.
SPEAKER_07She won't even when she thinks she's about to die, she won't die. She just gets right back up.
SPEAKER_08I thought I thought it was over. Girl, you throwing meteorites like what you doing?
SPEAKER_01Right.
SPEAKER_08I'll take one more of those, it's like pow.
SPEAKER_01And then clothes, change clothes, change power, just like that. Just like that, like ready for everything.
SPEAKER_06Just switching outfits and a whim. Yeah, a whim. And the craziest part, people forget, because they, you know, I I talked, I spoke to somebody about her, and they were like, oh, you know, she gets her her ability to use her weapons from the weapons. No, no, no. Although they're magical weapons, she learned how to fight with a spear. She taught herself how to fight with a sword, she taught herself to fight with a hammer, she taught herself to fight with twin blades, she's taught like all those different weapons that she has, she self-taught and learned from other masters. And she's like, I don't want to say Batman level, but she like learned how to fight with every single one of those weapons.
SPEAKER_12Right.
SPEAKER_06In every single one of those gears.
SPEAKER_07And shout out to her personal manufacturer because ain't nobody else wearing these fucking arms. Nobody else. Nobody else.
SPEAKER_06You know what? That episode where she was like, I have to go buy some more. I was like, Well, bitch, where are you buying them from?
SPEAKER_10Like it's in your size, ain't nobody where elsewhere. There are a million dragon slayers, but it's only one Ursa. Only one Ursa.
SPEAKER_06All right, and let's round out this question on Sham Blue Bracelets.
SPEAKER_05I really hate you for this question.
SPEAKER_06You're welcome! Oh, I can't sing that song because I don't want to be, you know, got by it. Oh Lord. I was thinking it too.
SPEAKER_10We definitely ain't got that kind of money.
SPEAKER_06As you hold a stitch. Uh go ahead.
SPEAKER_05One of my thoughts was um Olivia Pope from Scandal.
SPEAKER_02Wow.
SPEAKER_05Okay, the fixer aspect and the skills that she possesses, not necessarily all her men troubles. Separate those. But um I don't have those issues.
SPEAKER_08Um amused, not a pop.
SPEAKER_05Um, but then like when you originally said the question, the first character that popped into my head, and I've talked about her before, is Ezda. And that's probably because mostly of my background. Yeah, I'm not sure.
SPEAKER_07Um I was Ezda, if I know where it was coming from. I didn't know where it was gonna come.
SPEAKER_05Um so what was I saying? Um, my mom raised me to be that person where, you know, don't show emotion to people. Like always keep a you know, rusted bitch face. Um, don't let them know what you're thinking, don't cry, don't show any weakness, pretty much. Um, but then on my dad's side, um, that was a lot of fighting per se. Like I was at my grandma's house one time when I was younger, and my cousin and I were like fighting, and I mean like fighting, fighting. Male cousin, by the way, fighting, fighting for like a long ass time, to the point where my mom says she picked me up and I have scratches all over my face. I don't remember that, but I said, okay, sure, that happened. Um, and then even when I would go over there sometimes, it was like we were always fighting, like, or I was fighting at school, or or something always happened. It was a lot of fights. Or I was protecting my cousin that was like maybe a couple weeks younger than me, and I was fighting his battles. So uh I think that's where the Ezeth where I connected with her character because she was always looking for a good fight. I wasn't necessarily looking for them.
SPEAKER_06Uh-huh, sure.
SPEAKER_05You shouldn't shop. Sometimes my realm, my aura. What you seem like two. Um, and of course, you know, in any type of fight, you want to be the victor and not the loser. So that that was that was always I gotta be on top. Um, but yeah, so those would be my two. Uh I can't really choose between Olivia Pope's strategies and her strategic movements, and as that's ability of resilience, pretty much.
SPEAKER_04This was a hard one. Actually, no, I'm gonna I'm not gonna lie to you, really well. I had two people that I really go put in this category. It was, and I thought about going with old favorite, but I actually go with somebody that I because of Mangarine, I have uh found a new manga and a new character that I literally fallen in love with is manga because of this character. The manga's called Pierless Dad. The name of the character Peerless Dad. It's uh is a manual, it's a manwah where all everything is covered, which is uh Bob was a fucking awesome. I haven't said that before Bob was a fucking awesome, they beat everything mangas, anime, all that. But like but um Peerless Dad is by the character called uh No Gajang, uh Gajang, which pretty much he was an assassin. Um not a very not originally an incredibly skilled assassin. His master kind of walked out on him when he was uh well, he was young in his training, so to speak. Not young, but young in his training. And he grew up to be, he took what he learned from the master and became an assassin. He was part of a fighting style called Diamond Body, which pretty much I can take all the hits you give me. And now at this point, it's just I have the power to knock the all shit out of you with what you're saying. So um so he would like take a sword swipe to the shoulder, block the like block the sword swipe with his shoulder and then punch the dude's jaw. Like type stuff like that. And then it became a question of how could he take these hits? Like now it's him planning with his body. So he's constantly training his body to take these hits, but he's always planning with his body, like, well, I gotta take, I gotta take this pain to end this fight. So I'll take this shot and this fight. If I take this shot, it might be too risky. So let me go ahead with this shot so I can end this fight, type stuff. And it's a constant planning. The reason why I like it so much though is because he at one point comes across a family, he pretty much has a family. He comes across a woman, and then they have kids together. But the birth of those children, she ends up dying. Yeah, she has triplets. And he has to learn how he has to literally change his life from what he was to what's best for now, his family. And then he keeps seeing troubles of his past come back to him, not because of stuff he did in his past necessarily, just because of the nature of his life. He changes up, he becomes a guard, you start seeing him look for stuff like this. All takes place in future Japan. So he's looking for stuff like healthcare, housing, benefits. Like it's like he's going to ask to be a gate guard with benefits. You know what I'm saying? So it's like and they take a look at that, but he's so talented, and the murum of the world realizes that they're like, all right, they give it to him. He doesn't know why. He doesn't know these talented, he just he just knows he can fight really well. Like, you know, so it's like and you start to see him go through these changes, how he keeps trying to keep his family together, even though he has to fight all these assassins and go to these wars, and all he's trying to do is be a gate guard because of his talents and keeps sending him to other places. So, and you always see how he's thinking, how he what he's planning in these fights, how he uh manages his family, the reasons why he might do stuff. A lot of times he'll do jobs he doesn't want to do because money's good, you know, or you know, special schools for his kids or something like that. And for that reason, and his and his sensibilities, because he's almost like he's like a he's like Goku, but actually a Goku is a good father.
SPEAKER_08The dad horse with his own hoof. Oh my god.
SPEAKER_04So it was so it's it was it's wild to read that and get that type of uh type of angle and then be like, yo, this is actually good.
SPEAKER_12This character's a shit.
SPEAKER_04So like, so it's uh so that was the reason why I'll say that's what be my spirit animal, just watching him, watching the way he uses his, like I would say, early resilience to get past a lot of situations where skill he didn't have enough skill to do it.
SPEAKER_02Right.
SPEAKER_04So it was like I just had to use this body that I've trained and that is that God has given me to win these fights in the smartest way possible. Like I'm watching one fight now where he knew he wasn't gonna win a fight against this dude, that he was this bastard, who has the same fighting style as him. Oh but he's crazy. He likes the pain, he likes to take those hits. You know, and he's watching this dude take out an army. So he's like, say I do beat this guy, but then that army still wants to fight me as well. So I gotta fight that army. So now he's letting this dude kill the army while the army is killing, chipping him down. Of course. And then they did they still they realize that now that they're like last three people, but he's like, I don't want to fight none of you. I just want y'all to chip this nigga down like he chips y'all down. So it's like watching him think that out and plan like that is like it shows that tactical intelligence. He's not the smartest of people, he barely knows how to read, but he knows how to plan. It's just watching that and watching him take care of his kids, watch how his kids are trying to follow his footsteps, is a really yeah, like him. That's that's my spirit animal, so to speak. That's the keg man, that's become a favorite of the Bible.
SPEAKER_06Outside of the not being able to read, you are your spirit animal that made a manga about you.
SPEAKER_05Thank you. I'm just saying, fearless dad. Like, oh, he was singing all these punches and stuff to the face.
SPEAKER_06I mean, as a person who knows your life story, you just read or just told everybody. Congratulations. Somebody wrote your autobiography.
SPEAKER_04But I'm not an Asian man.
SPEAKER_06The only difference is you can read and you're not a feudal Japan. That's the only difference.
unknownRight.
SPEAKER_04Well, no, don't be trickled.
SPEAKER_05There's no trickles.
SPEAKER_06Anyway, um, how did you guys enjoy that? How how was the round robin fast quick questions at everybody? Round of fun. How was that?
SPEAKER_10Was it really fast? Let's let's be let's be honest with the boys about that.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, it wasn't that fast, man.
SPEAKER_06That's because you guys talked so damn much. So just that bowl. I never said I didn't. I'm just saying you do too. There's supposed to be quick and fast answers. Then people go into life stories. All I said was it was supposed to be fast, and individuals decide to tell life stories. I said, answer as quick as possible. I told a manga.
SPEAKER_07Some questions like speak to your truth. You can't help that. Also, it just occurred to me for that last question that under uh under no circumstance would Doom be anybody's no at all.
SPEAKER_06I thought about that. I was like, I don't know how you were gonna get him to do that. That nigga would get so fast so fast and I think along by yourself.
SPEAKER_08I was like, I don't know how you're gonna get him to do it unless you're gonna trap him into something and then he would figure out how to get out.
SPEAKER_07You want to switch now? Uh I ain't gonna switch, but I think I would have to our fates would have to be tied. Yeah, in some way, shape, or form. In some way he couldn't undo it.
SPEAKER_06I was gonna say, how would he not undo it? It's doomed.
SPEAKER_07It doesn't happen immediately. As long as I can get something done before he figures it out. But you do know that if he figures it's right afterwards, it's your ass. He will hear one. I didn't, I didn't I didn't necessarily tie him to this whole thing, it just happened. But as far as I know, but what if his thought problem is used to die to become untied? I need to change that situation. It's like a card, it's like a karama situation. I need before this nigga gets out, I need to impress upon him.
SPEAKER_08Oh god, we're oppressive for Dr. Dude, though.
SPEAKER_06That's why he didn't kill his mom and all that other stuff. Only a period of time. After the usefulness was gone, he was ready to go.
SPEAKER_07No, but now now Naruto can spit that nigga out and they cool and he goes back in. That's why I'm saying the cage is gone. Yeah, Dr.
SPEAKER_04Doom may cry, but then he don't work like that.
SPEAKER_07No, no, no, but I will prove myself useful to Doom. We're not gonna be best friends, right?
SPEAKER_04That yeah, no, but you ain't gonna be a boss either. With Dune?
SPEAKER_07He doesn't need to live.
SPEAKER_06I just need to live.
SPEAKER_03Just let me go.
SPEAKER_06Outside of him making you uh uh uh uh um actually your oh your best bet is while he's while he is your your uh deck master or your persona, you should let him make you an official citizen of that barrier.
SPEAKER_07Then you say, because he ain't gonna kill you if you're not I can be a citizen, but honestly, that's what I'm saying. It will take him a while to assuming it takes me a while to get out. If if if I have Doom at my services and I cannot become a useful person in that amount of time, do I deserve to live anyway? Fair enough.
SPEAKER_04You can turn Doom into your life coach. That's what you need to do. That's what's the best way to go.
SPEAKER_07I probably would.
