Welcome back to the Blurred Spectrum Podcast. Listeners, watchers, enthusiasts, we have come to a precipice. We're actually kind of late, uh, in my personal opinion. I I I'll take the L. I fucked up. We were supposed to do this about a week ago, but you know, we're doing it. This is the Legend of Zelda anniversary episode. For all of you, Legend of Zelda lovers, uh, for all of you uh enthusiasts, for all of you uh fascinators of the installments of this franchise. This episode is for you. Now, no, we are you know not gonna go into all the minutiae, the different glitches and speed runs and all those other things. We're gonna talk about the things that are close to our heart, our characters, the installments, what makes Legend of Zelda, the franchise important and great and amazing to us. So, first, I'm gonna, of course, introduce our panelists, starting with myself, Suchino Shogun. Uh, second, we have the doctor. What's good? We have Kaze Shinryu. Yo, yo. We have Shampoo Bracelets, also known as Shammi B87. Yo. And we have the lovely Sayone Gosplay.
SPEAKER_08Hello.
SPEAKER_06So, as I said before, we're gonna go over uh what we feel, what we think, what we know, what we're expecting about the Legend of Zelda franchise. Uh, so I think first, you know, we're just gonna you know give our give our first takes. What what what about the Legend of the Zelda franchise made it the Legend of Zelda franchise? What is it the characters? Is it the individual installments that we fell in love with? Is it you know um what we what we plan to see with Zelda in the future, or with the Legend of Zelda, not Zelda the person, because you know, people still can't figure out the difference between Zelda and Link. I don't know what the problem is. We've told you seven million times, but you still can't figure it out. But that's neither here nor there. Um, so I think uh we'll start round robin. I'll go over around everybody. Let's give your, you know, what what do you enjoy? What about the legend of Zelda uh brought you to the game? What brought you to the rodeo? And we'll start with the master of ceremonies. Well, actually, that's me. Okay, sorry. Uh, our medical professional. Wait, there's two of them. Um, uh our medicine man, the doctor. There it is.
SPEAKER_03What got me into the legend of Zelda? What brought what I think makes it stand out? Um, you know, at the end of the day, I think it's just really the exploration. Like, I think Zelda has cultivated a really good formula for you know a game that has this expansive world, and you know, you grow by like gathering items, but you explore the more of the world, and I think they've done that really well, and they've taken that formula and expanded it and adapted it into all these different ways are super interesting. So, you know, without getting into any of the specifics, because I think this overlaps a little bit more of the specific topics we're gonna get into, but um, yeah, I think it's the exploration, you know, by far is what stands out as making Zelda really exceptional for me.
SPEAKER_06I definitely concur. I think each game uh has grown to show new levels of um how we as the user or the player can explore High Rule or explore all these different worlds that they may add into the Legend of Zelda franchise, and each game better than its last allows you to get just a little bit more in depth with finding things and exploring new ways of how uh the world works. It's it's absolutely phenomenal. I definitely agree. Uh let's move it over to Kaze. Right.
SPEAKER_04Um pretty similar to uh what the doctor said. I think uh I think I think more specifically is not not only the um explanation. Uh explanation. But not only the exploration, but really the uh Zelda does a fantastic job of instilling a sense of wonder in it. Like a sense of wonder and curiosity. Like they make even mundane things seem like fan like fantastic. And and and they make like everything you find like super fantastic, and that and that in part, you know, makes you want to want to know like well, okay, what's around this corner? Uh like you know, you you pick up you pick up one rock and and find money under it. It's all over.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, it's all over. Every rock must be unturned.
SPEAKER_04Rock, root, you know, pot, and then you know, and then and then you find and then you find a pot in a circle, and it's like, oh, okay, let me let me pick all these up. And then a chest pops up in the middle, and you're like, oh shit, and I'm looking at shapes.
SPEAKER_08I'm looking at shapes.
SPEAKER_04And it is it is it is such a it is such a like beautiful, like just it it it really uh teaches you everything in its in its design. It is it is incredibly intuitive. It is like just beautifully designed, even the sound design is like just a masterclass. Like the like I don't I don't know if anything I don't know if anything will feel as good as just opening like your first chapter in a zone again, like as like over like overing the time, opening up a chest is just like oh yeah, just the the weight and the uh the sound but um yeah yeah um yeah, like honestly playing a Zelda game is honestly is honestly what I feel like like being in a in like a Disney or me as I can feel game like it's just like uh everything's like fantastical, you know, this sense of wonder is uh you know, it's just really good.
SPEAKER_06Thank you all, thank you all. All right, and Blue Racelet.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, so um for me, Zelda. Uh the Link's Awakening was probably the first interaction I got with what is I can consider now my favorite genre of games, open world games. That was my first interaction with what I thought was an open world game and what I could see an open world game to be. Um the fact that you had so much freedom, the fact that it was, you know, you you find certain secrets and you get to certain items by just like coming across them. Like there's no, there was no real, there wasn't, oh, you go this way, you go left or you go right, and that's how that's how it goes. Like it's like the only other game I can even think of that introduced secrets like that to me was like Mega Man X. You find when you unlock the little your high little why you hire booster joint. I mean, not why you hire booster, but the little why you hire okay joint. And it was like, oh, what is this? And it's that's pretty much how I got with like a bunch of feelings that when you get a certain line, it was in Zelda. Um, I did enjoy the story even more, so I enjoyed the music. Like when you first come across a great fairy, the music that starts playing, or like, or like just the opening music to uh the open, not the opening music to uh Ocarina of Time, but like the uh the music where you're just picking your save file. You have to do do like that, like yeah, like the music in Zelda alone. Like I'm really big in music and any media, so the music in Zelda alone was was what hooked me. Um, and then the the the gameplay, the way secrets work, I enjoyed the story. I enjoyed that, you know, for some odd reason I enjoyed that the main character doesn't actually talk and the game is even named, you know, about around him.
SPEAKER_08Yep.
SPEAKER_01Like Lake's Awakening is probably the one game where it actually has his name in it, the title.
SPEAKER_05Yep.
SPEAKER_01And then I'll even mention this nigga. Like it's just like, nah, like he just does. Um, but it's really about this chick over here. Like it's like it's really about this chick over here, or it's about the the villain that's constantly trying to take her out and take her kingdom. Like those are the more main characters than the person you play. You literally a side character in a made chick story. Like you're like, you know, like you're just you're kind of like uh like you're just the way the plot moves along, so to speak. Um I enjoyed, I enjoyed how that worked. And uh, like I said, mainly like the music, the stuff they introduced you to when they finally start introducing you to like like uh like you know, horse like being able to ride like horses and stuff like that. Ipona, which became one of the most iconic horses in video games, like you know, it's like like stuff like that is what really got me into uh into Zelda Legend of Zelda as a whole. So uh yeah, I I have one is still my favorite game and series as a whole. Okay.
SPEAKER_06Uh for me, I have to say, um, I you know, I I definitely agree. The exploration, the wonder, the music, all of those are you know different things, why the different reasons why the Legend of Zelda franchise, each of the individual games, you know, bring you in slowly into um you know the characters and the story build and the world building, rather the uh individual treasures. And you know, I think for me, although each each story is can potentially be you know written the same way, each individual game, each installment has its own unique story. And I think for me, the storyline, the story building of a lot of the games is so unique. That's why, you know, the one of the few stories in the Zelda franchise, which is like completely like it's still called a Legend of Zelda game, but it's not a part of um in terms of storyline, has nothing to do with anything else. And then we'll go into when we talk about our favorite installments. Um, but it's it's it's the fact that this this team, this storyboarding team, can create such in-depth stories. And depending on what you do, the choices that you make inside of the game, even though you know, even with Orc Arena of Time, when it's kind of like you have to do these three things, you have to do these seven things, they have to do these three things again. And then so it's like, you know, they have a number system, but there are so many outside things that you wouldn't even know about, kind of going back to what Shampoo Brace had said about the secrets. There's so many extra things to the story that can heighten and enhance the story that you're currently on. And I think nothing, kind of going back to what the doctor said, no story can identify that more than you know, the breath of the wild, how it was the first time in a Zelda game, you literally can do anything in any order. There was no you have to do this before you can do that, or this triggers that, and then that. Now, there were triggers and there were things that could enhance something else in a later part of the game, but just the ability actually, not that's not even true. You could I mean it is Breath of the Wild, it's 100% you know, open world, you can do anything in any order. Literally, I mean, there's so many videos of people just jumping straight to Ganodorf and fighting him and finishing the game. So, like with that one, yeah, I mean, without a speedrun glitch, you literally can just jump into the end of the game in Breath of the Wild. But with uh, I was thinking of um uh uh I feel so bad that I don't remember the name off the top of my head. Wind Waker, there it is. With Wind Waker, being like I think the first time I went to Wind Waker, because I'm at times I'm a perfectionist and a completionist in games. Um, I spent easily over a month just sailing the ocean blue, looking for just just just scuba diving and and digging stuff up. What's it called? Salvaging from the bottom of the ocean, just looking for stuff. Like I was finishing my map, I was, you know, drawing the course of the ocean waves, I was like discovering new islands that I didn't even know existed. Same thing with skyward sword, but skyward sword on a little bit lesser of a uh as much of the because you know, as a whole sky, the ocean seems at least finite in my mind. Uh so just the the adventure and the stories that they gave you in The Legend of Zelda is you know just um one of the reasons why I continue going back for the next installment and the next installment and the next installment. I mean, personally, I've played 90% of the games, and I think like every two years I go back and play all of them in order. It's just it's phenomenal. So, um, the next point I wanted to make sure we went over is of course our favorite installments. Uh, you know, there's so many different games uh from Lincoln's Awakening, uh Link to the Past, uh Phantom Hourglass, Twilight Princess, uh uh Or Queen of Time, of course. Um uh there's just so many different installments of the Legend of Zelda franchise. Um, that you know, each, I believe each person can have their own favorite for whatever reason. So we're gonna have each of our panelists explain or give their favorite installment or favorite game from the Legend of Zelda franchise on any console or handheld, and uh explain why. What about it um made it your favorite installment? What about it made it the Zelda game for you? Granted, more will come out in the future, but up until right now we're at, I think the last installment is the um uh Age of Extinction. If I'm uh did I say it correctly? I always say it wrong. Calamity. Every time I say it wrong, it's everything, it's a calamity. Um, yeah, so up into that game, which is your favorite installment? And I think we will start with shampoo bracelets.
SPEAKER_01Um, so yeah, uh my favorite installment is Augurina Tom, as I mentioned it multiple times when we started this. I I hands down there's nothing else that I'm ever gonna put in that place. Like Acarina Time introduced me to Pona. Acarina and Tom introduced me to all the great versions of the music that everybody wants to turn into lo-fi nowadays. Fucking everybody like it's like Augurina Time in so many ways, like that that thing to me, like and all the music in Augarina Time was fire. Like, no matter where you went, first time you went to Geruda Village, that beat is fire. First time you go to Hollywood Castle, that beat is fire. First time you see a fairy, that beat is fire. Um, what was the what's the ranch uh that you first meet upon it at? I can't um Oh crap. Yeah, yeah, the Lama Lom Ranch, yeah. Yeah, when she started when the daughter starts singing that song, oh and then becomes one of the big songs every time you go there. Yeah, exactly. That hits you in the heart. Gerudo village is my jam.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, uh in the desert, Gerudo Village.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, Gerudo Village, that's the jam. That's the brand new village. You want to just start to get into some soft or something like that. Like as soon as you try to get it, you want to you want to start the merengue going. Like it's just like like for real, that all the music in there is fire. I the characters, they don't introduce you to too many characters, but the characters you do come across for the most part are pretty cool. Um, even the way you get into Zelda's castle, yeah, fire. Like you had to go jump over pretty much problems and everything. You gotta go through every dime, they introduce you to sneaking early. Um like the way that story works, fire. The way like you like it's it was so many good points. And I created a time. From the time you wake up out of your bed and get introduced to one of the most annoying characters in game in history to the time to the time you get to the time you get to the castle and like and you know, go go when you when you get the master store and first pull it out, and you run for it in time all of a sudden now you a man. Like it's just like like it's giving puberty, man. So many fire moments, so many fine characters. Like that was the first time they really introduced you to give like Ganon a real story that you can actually kind of sympathize with. And it was like, like this is him, it was pretty much that, you know, they made him scarf, they made him like Harold Scarface, so to speak.
SPEAKER_08It was like it was like he rose, he rose from nothing.
SPEAKER_01He was an omen. Like he was an omen, like his birth was bad, and he was the whole time just trying to fight against that. And yeah, he took the wrong path to do that. Don't don't ever give it up. But like I mean, no way say it say before I'm saying that he was good in that, but uh, like it was like it's just like that was the that was the first time they really gave him a backstory. Like, that's why I made the whole thing, we said the whole thing about they everybody had a backstory but Link. I really typed gave no shit about uh about fucking Link's backstory.
SPEAKER_06It was like, yo, he gave him a small backstory.
SPEAKER_01He said he was an orphan raised by elves. That was pretty much what happened. You don't know who his parents are, they don't even try to give that idea away.
SPEAKER_05Oh, you got details on his backstory okay, okay. Yeah, they didn't give no details.
SPEAKER_01Okay, they didn't give no details. Like they you didn't even really get the detail of him being an orphan raised in the village until like after you get to the first story.
SPEAKER_06Link is Naruto.
SPEAKER_01Huh?
SPEAKER_06And the Deku tree is the third Okage.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, like that's pretty much how it goes, but even then Naruto got more backstory than Link does. Like you at least get to see Naruto's friends.
SPEAKER_04Naruto's back Nat Naruto's backstory is his heritage, which Link has. You know what I mean? Yeah, exactly.
SPEAKER_01Link's backstory is luck. You just so happened to be a orphan dropped this towel. And it just so happened to work out we gave you a sword. Like just like nice like that, Acarina Time for me, like was that was that game. Like that was a game where I I might have you know started to love fucking Zelda with Link's Awakening, but Ocarina of Time got me hooked. Like everything about Ocarina Time was great to me. The way the story, the way they got you introduced into you know, certain characters that were leaders of these villages that you would go to, all these so you could find out what they become later on, you know, they get you hooked to these characters, yeah, and then take them away. Like it's just like it was like it was like all these lost battles are fields, you know. It's like it's just like before, before it was before Breath of the Wild came and tried the same trick all over again, you know, not necessarily to the same, you know, caliber, but close, you know, close. They they're making it up with age calamity. But like it's like it's like if you think about it, it's like the way I look at Breath of the Wild and Age Calamity, it was Age of Calamity is the first part of Aquaina Time, and fucking uh Breath of the Wild is the second part. When you come back and find all your people or all your friends are dead. You know, like it's like that's pretty much how I look at that. So it's like yeah, I I I greatly enjoy everything that Aquarina Time gives. Everything that's packed in a little cartridge that if you were lucky, you can get it the gold cartridge. Yeah, you know, it's like that was good, that was where you got it like in the very beginning. So it was like, yeah, like they even even the way they did that, even the packaging was fucking amazing. Like, I love Aquarina Time. Hands down. That's my thing.
SPEAKER_06All right, the doctor.
SPEAKER_03Right, so my number one, and what I consider to be unequivocally the best Zelda game by far. Oh, wow of the Wild. I don't think anything else comes close. And I think that Breath of the Wild is the pinnacle of what Zelda has been trying to do. Well, not just trying, but what Zelda has been doing throughout its entire history as far as this open world game where you know it's focused on exploration and being able to, you know, grow through different abilities and explore different things through different, you know, think about oh, getting something here helps you explore there and whatnot. But I think Breath of the Wild takes that formula and expands it in such a way that it becomes something truly and completely amazing. So one of the first things that I love about Breath of the Wild, um, you know, when you are coming out of the cave of resurrection when you first start the game, and as you walk down the show, it's a little cutscene where it's you know over this vast, huge area, and those are all places you can genuinely explore. So it's not like something where, oh, it's a pretty background or whatnot. Like, no, this is like everything you can see there, you can explore. Everything the light touches, everything the light touches, and it really does feel limitless. You know, and another thing that I really love too, and this is also on the Great Plateau, where you know, for one of the shrines, for the shrine where you get the bombs, um in front of the shrine is this wall with like a bunch of cracked rocks. Now, in any other Zelda game, the typical formula for that is oh, you see these cracked rocks, you have to bomb them to get in. If you don't have the bombs, you cannot get in there. But in Birth of the Wild, you just climb over it. And it's something subtle, but it's the first thing that teaches you okay, you're going to think outside the box in this game more so than you have in other previous Zelda games. You can bomb it when you get back, but you don't have to bomb it at all. And there are all these different ways that you can explore and solve problems, and that's just something I really enjoyed. I think the shrines to a big extent really you know. Are emblematic of that as well, that you can solve strides in all these different ways. It's not quite as simple as, oh well, you have I need item X in order to solve puzzle Y. Like, no, you have to get creative. And I think that's just super, super interesting. But more than anything, it's so vast. And it's a game that you can spend hundreds of hours on and still not complete. And I love that. I love that there is so much to do in this game. Like there just it really like it feels like a lot like all the Sky Quests in or SkyQuests in Skyrim, for instance. That's how there's so much you can do in Skyrim without completing the game. Breath of the Wild has so much you can do. You know, and when I put all that together, like that is, you know, it just beats out any of my other, you know, favorite Zelda games. I think it's the best. And you know, as far as even like with you know Ocarine of Time, and I do enjoy Ocarina of Time a lot, but I think Breath of the Wild took a lot of what made Ocarine of Time great and expanded on it. And it improved a lot of the things where Ocarina of Time, you know, could have done better as well. Right. I think you know, Breath of the Wild was just it's such a perfect step in the right direction. And for me, like that is to me the number one Zelda game.
SPEAKER_06Okay.
SPEAKER_01How do you how do you feel about the weapon degradation?
SPEAKER_06Oh no.
SPEAKER_01When you said all of that, I'm like, the only reason why I do agree with you actually, funny part about it, I do agree with you. I I love Breath of the Wild. I love the freedom of Breath of the Wild. I love the fact that you can literally just go through and get all the strongest items when you fight the first boss. I went to the first boss battle with the master. I thought that was great. Like it's like, but it was just the idea of weapon degradation in that game, it was almost like you would smack a rock with a with a with a hammer one time. You smack the rock with a hammer, you can take out the the rock really quick, but you might only be able to use the hammer two more times before it's gone. You know, it's like and that was my how do you feel about from that perspective? Like, was that do you think that was done well, or that could have been done way better?
SPEAKER_03So I think it was done okay. And when I say okay, I think in the early game it's much more awful than it is in the later game. So in the early game, you know, weapons like because they're so low degree to begin with, they break so much faster. So you have like situations where you're cheating like Moco bats, and you're just like, oh, you know, kill two enemies, break one, kill two enemies, break one. And it like it feels kind of strange to just be cycling out especially the same kind of weapon like that over and over. But I think later on it does turn into something where weapons last long enough that they don't feel overly fleeting, but they um the system still forces you to use a variety of weapons, which is you know, kind of I kind of get like that's the whole point, but I think in the later game that gets executed more effectively, where you have weapons that do last for several combats, as opposed to, you know, oh, this dies in two fights or something like that. Um but yeah, like I think if there were a way for them to pace that a little bit differently in the early game, then it would have been much more like perfectly executed. But as it is, like I think that's the big area of improvement for me with the weapon degradation system, just that early game super fragile weapons. In the late game, like I actually just don't have an issue with it anymore. And then if you get the master sword, you always kind of have a backup typically for a while because it heals itself after a certain time, and that makes it um much more effective.
SPEAKER_06I I will say that when I started playing Breath of the Wild, and I mean I of course I knew before because people spoiled a lot of the things about the web of degradation. But as I started playing, I'm like, okay, I just broke a weapon, and I was like, wait a minute, the master sword is in this game. I remember as soon as I got the master sword in Breath of the Wild, I put it in my house and I never used it until later in the game because I was so afraid I was gonna break it and be like, I did the assistance, I can't I can't keep playing. I broke the master sword. I think it was until I think I finally took it out when I was about to fight Ganodor if I didn't use it at all. Like I got a bunch of like the trident and this and that, like I had a bunch of other weapons. As soon as I got the Ganador, I was like, let me go get the master sword. I'm up in this joint, we're about to fight this Ganador. I remember I was fighting, and it was like it said it's like getting to a certain point. Oh snap, I'm about to I gotta finish the fight, and then it was like, Oh, you can't use that. That's like, wait, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, it didn't break.
SPEAKER_04What I was just nigga, uh dare them to break the store.
SPEAKER_01That would have been the worst thing ever made.
SPEAKER_04The day the master breaks is the last day I played Breath of the Wild. Unless it's a part of the story. Uh uh nope, nope, guess the last day I played Wind Waker is when is when they broke my damn triforce and made me pick it back up all over the ocean. That's a that's the last that's the last time. The goddesses wanted you to observe the ocean blue. I'm just telling you. That's how you get everywhere. I was looking. I saw it. I saw it. But but anyway, um, yeah, it's it's funny. I'm like uh I'm kind of uh slightly of the same mind and then kind of uh kind of opposite of where uh where the doctor is. Whereas um I was uh I was super excited of of the direction of Breath of the Wild. Uh but but at the same time I think they kind of had critical failures on things that Zelda usually does extremely well. So I I think I think one was uh you know, since we brought up already the the the weapon durability was uh m mostly unnecessary. Um just I mean, because it was so so many games have implemented ways to make you use different things in infinitely better ways. So the fact that Zelda's like kinda jumped into this archaic uh uh like direction, it was kind of like you you literally could have did anything else. Or or you could have done nothing, you could have just made super interesting like you could have had 80% less weapons and just made them more interesting, and things being interesting are a reason to use them. Like I was like I honest honestly, like I'll like like I'm I'm not gonna say um I would rather just use my uh slash hammer, master sword, and great ground sword from Ogarina over everything in Breath of the Wild. But but like it's kind of but it's kind of close for me to where it's kind of like there is not uh of all the stuff you could pick up, there is not enough variety and then and then tempered and then tempered with the weapon durability thing. Uh it's kind of like I can, I just didn't, I didn't need it. Um my my favorite uh you know, uh like part of part of what I was talking about was the uh the sense of the sense of wonder. And and and honestly, them uh a lot of the magic of a Zelda game are the temples. And we didn't get temples in in Breath of the Wild. We the like the the shrines just kind of separ you know, like separated and focused a lot of the smaller experiences of a temple. And which kind of just kind of made it, you know, that's kind of made it, you know, like whatever, whatever for me. And almost it's it uh, you know, some were really interesting, some were just a chore. Some some seem like they've designed by college students. Um and the other magical thing for me is the you you get uh you get like all your like the side effect of getting all your like she can slate tools so early is I have nothing to look look forward to. Like uh like like it's like you just get them. And then it's like okay, so you have those and then you have your weapons. And and it's like uh like nothing like new is getting added to my arsenal as far as like expanding my gameplay, except for just me, like, you know, uh I mean, you know, I'm figuring shit out and finding like different combinations, and that's you know, and that's really cool. Uh, but I would have loved to like get peppered in with like you know, this better stuff. I don't know if you know if you upgrade them or you just like spread them more out, spread them out more. And and honestly, in the uh in the in the like, you know, the power-ups and the moves you get from the uh from the what the hell they call it? Sages, guardians. The uh you know, the bird and the yeah, champions. Yeah, yeah. And those are those are really awesome, but those kind of came like you know much later, and it was just a giant part in the middle where I felt like my I wasn't changing much, uh, aside from the you know, stuff I was finding. Um so like so like again, the my favorite thing uh about Zelda's the sense of wonder and it was and Breath of Wild had that in spades, but the stuff that they again, that's the stuff where I I got before where it's like the temples and the and the upgrades to my character I got from the temples that was just not there. Like, and like and and and not to mention just the curated design of the temples, because the great the little giant the giant robots that was that didn't hit for me, the the bosses at the end of all the giant robots garbage. Um yeah so I don't know. Um and I you know and I and I say that I love I love Breath of the Wild, but I think I think those things specifically is kind of what keeps it from like the pinnacle pinnacle for me. I think I think it is I think it holds a lot of important lessons and and I'm and I'm glad that they were brave enough to try all this stuff. Um but but I think I gotta uh you know go you know go with Shample and uh you know go to go to old faithful and uh Oka Rena time. Like I swear, like I swear, like night, like I swear Ocarina Time and uh in Final Fantasy 7 like came out the the same year, I think. And and I was looking, I was looking at my uh I was looking at my N64 and I was like, all right, I'm waiting on you to come with it because Final Fantasy 7 came out on PS2 and I'm just like you know, like why are you here? You need to you need to earn you need to earn your keep. And then and then I play Oak Ray at time.
SPEAKER_01Nintendo said, well, how dare you?
SPEAKER_04I didn't know, I was a Genesis guy. I I I literally would I literally didn't know. Like the only uh I I was I only only wanted SCNS to play uh Mega Man games and they had a and they had a better version of Street Fighter. But other than that, I was like also I didn't know all the RPGs was over there. I just I didn't know. But uh but yeah Okarian time like really just like changed everything for me. Like it it like it made it made open world uh it was like the the music was just in in double you hadn't you had zero control over how you felt in that game like they like they they like they literally like put puppet strings on your emotions on your heart and it like this this played you like a fiddle like every time you thought you knew something like you like oh yeah, I don't really care about this character, this future comes. You're like, oh I did love you know just like you know just just just the whole feeling like like I said before it's like kind of like that feel of being like in a you know like a like a Disney film and but but then you get to then you get to like that uh that that that one village and you and you get like and you like and you go under the graveyard village and then and then you know and then you find like all this like fucked you know like fucked up shit like the L'Oreal family, yeah, and like people like being experimented on and I was like and it's like zombies down here like in the way that music changes it was like I was like horrified. I was like, oh wait, no. Like I think I I had to I had to leave and just have the let the let the regular music town music calm me down. Wow before before I could head back down there because it was a lot. It was I wasn't I wasn't I wasn't expecting it. I had to temper myself. But um uh yeah, yeah, I think I th I th I th I think the c I think the core like uh you know or at least you know what I consider the the core Zelda formula, I think you know, I think I think it's very you know very strong. And I think uh Ocarina Time just did it like extremely well for me. Just uh just a nice like the perfect especially like for the time, it's the perfect balance of exploration and uh making you know making you feel like you know important and powerful, like like the like the you know, like doing like doing what you need to do to get the uh the little the power gauntlets and like and you know like you know, watch watching Link fucking launch that damn bowler from it was just like sweet fucking Jesus. I was I I don't know, I was still wondering why I I needed two hits to kill a spider. But still, like just the sense of wonder and the power you get and uh just from getting certain things like you know just being able to float for a while when you use the like you know, you use those boots, or like the how the world opens up when you get the long shot or you or or the hook shot. Like though this uh this you know, this like the the the surprising variety to combat just switching like between the bombs, bomb choos, like oh okay, I'm gonna hit this dude with a sledgehammer and stun him. And like, oh, okay, it can't nobody in here block, so I'm gonna bring the big going sword and just cut everything in half. Like it was uh it just uh is is is is it was really just like the the the sweet the sweet spot for me. Yeah. Uh the doctor, you were about to say something?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, no, I mean it's um what you all so when you were talking about earlier some of the stuff with Breath of the Wild and the temples and whatnot, and I definitely don't consider the shrines an analog to like temples in Ocarina of Time at all. I think the dungeons are closer to an analog, as far as you know, a few specific kind of like multi-layered puzzle areas where you know you have to solve them and then there's a boss at the end and whatnot. But um, I do love Ocarina of Time. I think it's a really enjoyable game. Um I definitely think, but it made me think of probably the one major area of improvement with Ocarine of Time, which is why it probably falls in like fourth or fifth as part of my favorite Zelda games. You know, and that has to be the dungeon design. So Ocarine of Time, I love it, but it has some rough dungeon design. I think it's the only Zelda dungeon in its history where you can soft lock without using glitches.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_03Just because you use the keys in the wrong board, you can soft lock. But you know, there's a lot of um vertical structuring, which means that oh you know, you have to climb this area, and if let's say you get hit by something like a colour, you fall all the way back down, but you have to do it again. Like they use that a lot. Um they use a lot of really similarly looking rooms, you know, and stacking them in such a way that it's often not obvious exactly where you are or if you've been in this room before. And for a gunboard, you have to find a dungeon map, like within that dungeon. Like it's it's no compass.
SPEAKER_06I gotta find a compass and my map, and then they give you the compass first, and you give you all the treasure chats, but you ain't got a map to navigate to the I'm sorry. I'm sorry.
SPEAKER_03Like with just how information is handled. Yeah, but um like that was that would be like the big thing where you know, as much as you know, and I agree on like the wonder of operative time, and it's like how an assault of operative time too, like with everything like the music and you know, all that, like fantastic, but it's it was that dungeon design, you know, like it was and so as much as like you know, I think like um could handle bosses in a more interesting way, like the dungeon structures were worlds above for me, like by far, you know, and in part because a lot of the abilities you get bypass some of the more um more problematic dungeon flaws, like vertical structure means there's much of a problem when you have an ability that just gives you massive vertical hype instantly. So you know, but yeah, like that was like the one thing locker in time where I was like, okay, this playing this again, this needs work.
SPEAKER_04I think I think that's one of the the benefits is I uh I de Ogre time is definitely a product of his time, and that's definitely where I I judge it. I haven't I haven't replayed Okara time in like 15 years. Jesus uh like it's like I'm um like I'm I'm I'm good. Like like like like I've I've re I've replayed uh uh a lot of things, but I think uh I honestly I think I think it kind of goes back to uh you know again a lot of a lot of it was my it was that sense of wonder and I've done it. So I don't I don't I don't I it you know I remember it well I can I can look I can turn on a nice curated YouTube video I don't need to go back and actually uh and actually uh yeah control it. Um yeah, even though it's funny, it's funny the yeah, I I think from a t from uh like you know it's technical and playability standpoint the design design was better, but they were they they just so was so boring to me. The the Breath of the Wild, uh what what what'd you call those the big things? The Divine Beasts, yeah. The Divine Beast. They were they they were all the same. They were boring.
SPEAKER_01I'm gonna go, yeah, I don't think they were boring. I think the the reason why you might have thought it was boring, I didn't think they were boring, but I also looked at it as um, I thought they were like really, really cool looking rubric cubes where it was just like all right, you flip it this way, and then you can get to this side, you flip it that way, and then you can get to this side, and then you can flip it this way. Like uh, what was it? Um the uh one of the more interesting ones I thought was the was the bird one. The bird divide beast, I can't remember the exact name, but that was probably the most interesting divide beast to me. Just because of the whole idea of okay, I gotta jump from the mid body to this wing over here, but I gotta try not to die. And I gotta catch these wings, I gotta catch these winds, and if I let lose these winds, I'm gonna fall straight up. And it's like you know you're gonna get revived, but you're looking down and you're like, holy shit, and it's you're trying to jump from like you're trying to like make it so the body rotates and then brings like the the cage inward. Like that that mechanic on it was cool. But it was the fact that it'd be cool if it was like, all right, so instead of the shrine, I have like you do like actual temples where it's like, all right, cool. You can go through these temples, you can get certain abilities or certain items, and then you know, it's a really cool, it might not have the same type of boss battle as, say, the divine beast, but it was like you go to the divine beast to fight the Ganon parts, but you go to these temples and fight like maybe these little enemies here and there that weren't just necessarily the robots that you've been fighting up all over the place everywhere else. And then it gets to the point where it's like you can smash these robots. Like I like you get like like like now the new robots, like how the robots were so tough in the beginning. Now it's the the the the Lionel motherfuckers that you're gonna be. Yeah, the lion off. Like when you come, like the first time you come across the white lion off, he whoops your ass. And it's like you just came across this dude, you just came out of this.
SPEAKER_06Was completely not fair. Like, I don't even know.
SPEAKER_01Why they wouldn't be like, no, like like the snow, like the snow maids. You come out the snow maids, and this dude's just using this like gay.
SPEAKER_06And you like, oh, oh, are you precious? Can I ride you? And then you get it.
SPEAKER_01I'm like, oh my God. It's like you got to close to these choosing. Like, you look good low off these like snipers.
SPEAKER_07I'm like, I can ride a centaur in this game? Meet the Sagittarius.
SPEAKER_01This is this is amazing. The first time I came across the choice and I was like, okay, you look like you might even fall. I'm gonna stay over here. I didn't realize he was looking at me. Oh, shot to the back. Do, do, do, do. And it's a game of the same thing. Like I was looking. I was on the world. And it was like, like, like I will say the one thing I did like, like they didn't, like, I never really saw them doing any of the other games, or at least it was the temples in the other games. I thought the lasers should have been the temples. Those lasers were interesting to me. Those lasers were funny. Like it's like I said, now the snow maze, once again, I did not like the snow maze because if you come out the front door, there's a line off right there. It's a way to do it. The strongest light-off, too. It's a weak line-off. It's one of the strongest line-offs in the game. Talking about, all right, buddy, ready? Let's go. I just cared about this dungeon. I have no food. I have no items. Why are you doing this? Why are you here?
SPEAKER_04Because get good, they're good.
SPEAKER_01I wasn't ready for that. But y'all, those mazes were really interesting to me. And I wish they had done a more of a combination, at least for the great divine beast. I wish it was more of a combination of if you're gonna do all the little, like all the little shrines, if they could have done more of like a combination of the mazes with the divine beast, I would have liked it more. But it was like, it was almost like Breath of the Wild took like they took the freedom and wonder that you would experience in the other games, and they enhanced the shit out of that. And then they made everything that has to do with any type of boss or hard enemy with the exception of line-offs, a puzzle. So it's like we're gonna just work your brain like crazy. These boss battles ain't gonna be shit in comparison to what you actually go through with the Divine Beast maze or with the Divine Beast puzzle or the shrine puzzle, whatever that may be that you got. These bosses are actually quite simple. And if you did like I did and got the master sword first, these bosses, these bosses are some of the easiest creatures in the fucking whole game.
SPEAKER_04But you did those little master quests that powered up the master sword. I did the master quest.
SPEAKER_06The master sword was glowing on the wall of my house.
SPEAKER_01I was literally, every time I came across the wall, I was like, I got five minutes. I got five minutes to spare. Like I would literally like make sure everything in the house was good before I got into a line off battle. I was like, this is gonna be a while. This battle's gonna be hard. I remember this. It was like my kids were like, hey, can we do, can we play catch? Yeah, I can play catch with you. I'm just about to fight a gambling a gambling box real quick. I got this door. Sit there, throw the ball to the kids, beat this guy's ass.
SPEAKER_04All you gotta do is start spinning. Yeah, I just shoot.
SPEAKER_06I was creative with those fights. I would set a fire on the ground, I would run towards the fire, jump up, hit the parachute, switch between a large uh spear, drop down on the thing's head, then I shoot bombs. Like there was there was technique in those fights. Were they easy? Were they repetitions? Yes. But there was technique to them shits. Yeah, I know what you're about to talk about.
SPEAKER_01I shot that motherfucker in the head, bop, bop, bop, hold up, guard.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, that was the technique. The technique in the game. You can do that against anybody. You can they had nothing to do with Ganon. Oh Ganon ain't make you do shit.
SPEAKER_01Oh, that was nothing would have disappointed the hell about me. Gannon, Gannon just appointed shit about me because I was like, all right, cool. God's the divine beasts, go fight Gannon. God just fight with Gannon. So you just watch that ass go. Just like release, release the crazy. All you gotta do is fight the lasers. It's over. That's it. You know, you fight the next part when you shoot them in the eyes. The next part was actually kind of more interesting because now it's the thing of like trying to figure out where the eyes is at. But everything is a puzzle. Like everything in Breath of the Wild is a puzzle. The boss battles are a puzzle. And it's like the fucking tribes, puzzles. Like the only ones that aren't puzzles is when you're like doing a little uh test of strength. That's the only time it's like, nah, we just gonna fight it. And if you learn, you can learn how to make that little puzzle too. Cause all it's like, oh, they start, they start charging up, and we give them how this pillar right quick. You're gonna hit this pillar and reflect your stuff.
SPEAKER_06Strike it back. See, y'all took all the technique out the goddamn game. Strike it back, damn it.
SPEAKER_01The technique is be smart. That's it. How high is your IQ? If your IQ is cool, this game is going to be high.
SPEAKER_06Uh, did you have another point, uh, Doctor?
SPEAKER_03Uh no. Okay.
SPEAKER_06So uh I thought this was, you know, let's tell our favorite installments. Now went to back and forth, why is my game better than yours? What it was.
SPEAKER_01I do love best of mine. I'm not gonna sit here. Because my because I would say if I really wanted to choose my like, if I really wanted to be an ass, I can say my favorite Zelda game is Age of Calamity. Because I never saw I'm not going there right now.
SPEAKER_07We don't have the time for that.
SPEAKER_01I'm not gonna get to that, but there's a reason why. Like, I never saw I have a love a game that much.
SPEAKER_06No, no, but I I was the only thing I was gonna say, because I really wasn't gonna say it, but since you brought it up, I'll say it really quick and then move on to my my installment. Is I feel like if if you look if you take everything the three of you just said about the differences and the comparisons between Orcarine of Time and Breath of the Wild, Age of Calamity addresses a lot of those between like my personal thing about what Brandon said and what you said, Shampoo Racists, about the uh weapon degradation. If they had instead used the Age of Calamity, um um uh com uh what's it called? Uh fuse fusion weapons, yeah. The weapon weapon concept. Like I can pick up weapons all over the place, but if I could take it to this Smith who fuses the weapons together, a blacksmith that fuses it together and makes it stronger that I can use in a for a fight in the future, that would have been better for me.
SPEAKER_01They can still lie would have been the greatest game.
SPEAKER_06Right, they can still break, but now I can fuse the weapons together to make them stronger instead of just kind of I think there was a process of use, I forget what it was, but using something to enhance them and making a or of finding a plus weapon. But if you could make it a plus weapon on your own using some type of process, I think that would have saved that issue. Also, Age of Calamities, uh yeah, uh the Linux was a boss in Age of Calamity, but there were other bosses of Age of Calamity that were Yeah. So I I will say that Age of Calamity and what for me, what it tells me, and I'm kind of going into what I was gonna say later, but real quick, well, I'll say it later. So uh my instalments, since I didn't get into mine, um, I was wasn't going to say Orchid of Time or Breath of the Wild. They are both games that I thoroughly enjoy and they are great. Uh, I think I said in one of previous uh um uh uh episodes that uh Orchid of Time is the game that introduced me to the Zelda franchise. I then eventually played all the games before it, and it also was the game that introduced me to gaming for the most, or into being a gamer, let me rephrase that. Um so Orchid of Time is near and dear to my heart. Every single step of it, as as uh everyone said, the music, the wonder, the storyline, everything. But my favorite installment, the the I'm not gonna say it's the best game because many I know people who don't even know what it is, I know people who never played it, I know people who never even looked at it. But you know what? It's the best, not the best, it's my favorite installment of the Legend of Zelda franchise, and that is the Legend of Zelda Majora's Mask. Majora's Mask to me is such a phenomenal game. And the reason why it's a phenomenal game is because it's Legend of Zelda adjacent. I don't feel like like it's called Legend of Zelda, but when they don't even talk about Zelda. Zelda's not even mentioned once. They talk about a royal family, but it's not the Zelda royal family. Like the only person who you recognize, although you recognize some of the different um uh nationalities, if you want to call them that, um, or or creatures, but the main person you recognize is Link. He's the only person in the game who carries over from the previous oh, any Tona, who carries over from the previous game, and the skull kid. Um, that carries over from the previous game, uh uh from Orkarina Time. And Jorah's mask is it's just so wonderful. It gives you it gives for all it gives me the sense of wonder that the Kazu was talking about. It gives me so many different musical adaptations because it doesn't just stick to music in one environment. You can change the music not manually, but you can change the music based off of what you're doing. Also, there's such an almost 007 type of vibe to some of the environments in Majora's Mask. If you think back to like Goldeneye, in different environments, the music changes based off of who's near you. So it was one of the things that uh um uh uh the the doctor was talking about with Breath of the Wild, where as when you go into a new area, what you have to do changes. So in uh uh Majora's Mask, whether you went to one of the Gerudo compounds, whether whether you went to up north where the Goron stage, music changes based off of what you're doing, who you're interacting with, and what you're trying to accomplish. It changes by day and night. It's one of the first no, not one of one of one of the first, no, it is no wait, sorry. One of the first games that based off of time of day and the fact that you can change the time of day, you're able to accomplish certain tasks. Majora's Mask was all about three days, three quintessential days between the time that you enter this village or this city and the time that the world is about or the the world, let's just say the world, this world is about to be destroyed, and it's phenomenal. The dungeons are great, the enemies are great, the the it was the first game to me that made me feel like I'm getting better, even though I'm not leveling up actually. Or Krean of Time did that as well, but Majora's Mask allowed you to do so many different things just based off of how you interact with people. If you enter like the fierce deity mask is one of the best tools in the entire to me, the entire Legend of Zelda franchise. Why is that? Because it didn't give a shit who the fuck you were. You were if you were on the other end of that weapon, that mask, you were dead. I don't give a shit. Fuck that master sword. I use that in most of the boss battles once I got that damn mask. I fucked up everybody, excuse my language. Anyway, nah, but Majora's Mask best game, in my personal opinion. Uh, it was phenomenal. I'm not gonna go into as much detail as everybody else because they took up all my time. So we're gonna move on to the next point, uh, which is our favorite characters. Uh, who are our favorite characters of the Legend of Zelda franchise? Uh, and you know, there are many of them, and it depends on if you paid attention to them. One of the things that our uh panelists have said before is that you know, at one point you may have run uh come across a character and you didn't pay much attention to them, but then either a time skip or a new environment or something happened, and all of a sudden this person is the ish, or this person is vital to you continuing your storyline. Um I'll go ahead and give mine. I actually have several, but I guess I have to stick it to one. Um, I uh shit, I really don't want to stick it to one to be completely honest. Um, but I'm only gonna say one because it's I really don't want to say one, but I'm gonna say one.
SPEAKER_01Um I'll say, what about we do this to make up for some time? Um, instead of just going into a deep discussion of why we like this character, just say your favorite character, they just have a mass discussion about all the characters. Like it's like it's like that's a good idea.
SPEAKER_06All right, uh the doctor favorite character. I mean, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Oh no, but it's about the Princess Zelda, the movesake of the series, look at those out.
SPEAKER_06I knew they were coming. I literally knew they were coming. I know pick one.
SPEAKER_02I was about to say which is Tom There can only be one.
SPEAKER_04That's that's cool. You can tell all your kids you love them equally, but they know you ain't right.
SPEAKER_06Oh man. Um Kaze, your favorite character.
SPEAKER_04Uh I about I about I bounce about I bounce between uh this character and and uh emper. But um uh yeah, no, I'm I'm gonna stick to the nostalgia goggles and I'm gonna pick uh Sheik.
SPEAKER_06I figured.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_06Uh Shampoo Bracels, Shammy B.
SPEAKER_01Um Yeah, I actually I have two characters that come to mind. Um one I learned from playing, and the other one, I didn't get to play the game as much as I would have liked to. I didn't get to finish it with uh what I didn't wanted to, but um I enjoyed what I saw of this character. Uh so I want to I'm just gonna say Gannon from Ocarina Time. Um yeah, I want and and I have explained some of the reason why, but we yeah, I guess then we'll when we get I'll explain the other character when we get into this conversation. But yeah, again, Ocarina Time.
SPEAKER_04And then and this is Ganon specifically, not Dorf.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, is it this is Gan this well I'm trying to remember which I'm trying to remember which is which the theory is the dude the Ganon Ganon is the pig, yeah. Okay, yeah, Ganon Dorf. Okay, there it is.
SPEAKER_06That's what I thought.
SPEAKER_01That's why I said Gannon, Lockery Top. And what I thought about is okay, you're right, Ganon Dorf.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, like he was Ganon at the end of the game. Um all right, uh, so my favorite character, ah man, it's funny because I had one if if it if if um Age of Extinction, I mean Age of Calamity, I do it every time, uh, didn't come out um because this new chick is now the baddest bitch. Um and I really didn't I didn't know I needed to play as her. Um and it makes Age of Calamity go by very fast when you play with her. And I mean, I'm gonna say she's my favorite character right now. There are other ones, she's my favorite character right now. We'll end the discussion, we'll talk about it in more depth detail. But my person is Urbosa, uh of the Grudo Tri. Um, that that woman is Yes, Lord! Yes, no, snoo. That that if somebody could cosplay that woman, um cough, cough. Oh, oh, oh, Sion A.
SPEAKER_00Hello there, people. I heard someone was coughing and needs my assistance for cosplaying. So yeah.
SPEAKER_07Yes.
SPEAKER_06Uh so question. Uh I know we we've had this discussion before. You said that you are new to the concept and the uh the wonder of the Legend of Zelda franchise. Uh, there is a character between uh the Breath of the Wild one and uh the Age of Calamity, uh Breath of the Wild Age of Calamity, um, that have recently come out. Her name is Urbosa. Urbosa, yeah, U-R-P-O-S-A. Um, she is a member of the Gerudo tribe, which is an all-woman tribe, except for you know the man that's born every what thousand or five hundred years. Um but she is the chieftain. Uh she's not the head, but she is the chieftain. Um, and she is she is a tall drink of chocolate milk, and um, she controls lightning with a swipe of her shimta. And um uh she's she's literally uh Nubia uh of of the Amazons, but controls lightning. That's that's yeah. I'll posted a picture in the in the chat. If you could, that would be great. Just drink drink her in. Oh yes. Oh, yes.
SPEAKER_00Oh, okay.
SPEAKER_06If you can uh I mean if we can get some pictures for uh I mean not now. I'm just saying, you know, 35th anniversary, we can throw that on the on the interwebs, that'd be lovely.
SPEAKER_00Sounds like a project.
SPEAKER_06I mean, I think if you have a red wig, that would be perfect. Who's got too quick?
SPEAKER_01That's the beauty of that thing. That's the beauty of that whole race.
SPEAKER_00Oh yes, oh yeah, uh, yeah. I so I guess I guess that that character was made for me.
SPEAKER_04So talk about feeling scenes. Scenes, I was like, oh my god, they exist.
SPEAKER_07It's not fair. That's not fair.
SPEAKER_00So just give me a deadline and uh I'll be sure to work on that. Okay.
SPEAKER_07I definitely will. I definitely will. You heard it first, people. The award-winning Say Ne cosplay is taking on or Bosa breaking news.
SPEAKER_06You heard it first.
SPEAKER_01Oh gosh, they're gonna blow, they're gonna blow her shit up.
SPEAKER_07You thought you got pizza today. Wait till Nintendo hits you up, girl.
SPEAKER_00Oh wow, I should like tag Nintendo. That's nice. I thought I was I was doing something with Funimation, but Nintendo.
SPEAKER_01The game is up there. Funation off the list. I've I've caught it anime.
SPEAKER_07Move it on to gaming. Move it on the new games, move it on to we're gonna do this.
SPEAKER_06All right, so this discussion, favorite characters. So there are so many characters in the Legend of Zelda franchise. Um, I think one of the things that we've said before is you know, some of them come in and some of them leave, uh, some of them are reused in future stories. Um it's a variety of people, uh, depending on the uh nationality or the race uh from the Gorons to the Zoras to the Rutos to the Gerudo to the Hillians to the uh Korikis. I know I'm missing some. I'm trying to make sure I get all of them. Uh to the Inkinas, to the uh no, I'm missing people, but I'm gonna be upset, so I'm gonna stop right there. But there are different types of races. So um, I think one big thing, oh, the Sheikah, of course, the Shea tribe, which is uh this it's it's interesting. The Sheika tribe has been reintroduced so many different times. Uh, as the stories and as the games are introduced, the Sheikah have more and more of a presence.
SPEAKER_00Whoops, bless you.
SPEAKER_06Sorry, more and more of a presence as the games go on. So, you know, they went from being this defender of the royal family to being uh uh spellcasters, to being curse wielders, to being uh futuristic, uh futuristic, sorry, um futuristic uh uh tribe or group of individuals who like created all this technology way, way back in the day. Like each of these different installments of games are different instances of reincarnations of Link and Zelda and Ganon, uh, you know, all being blessed by the power of the goddesses. So um who's another favorite? What's this conversation about?
SPEAKER_01If we go through the whole series, then we can't forget the twilight, the twilight or the oh thank you.
SPEAKER_06That's what I'm saying. I forget people.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, the twilight that was another one. That was that they they're the ones, they're the reason why they introduced Midna and uh my other my other favorite character, which I you know, for anybody who thinks that I'm about world domination, it's like that. My other favorite character is villain, Zance.
SPEAKER_05Oh, that was like I like villains.
SPEAKER_06As long as he keeps his helmet on, I'm good.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah, how you talking about who?
SPEAKER_06I said as long as he keeps his helmet on, I'm good.
SPEAKER_01Nah, that was the best part where he took that shit off how peepy he really was. Like That was the moment where it was like, all right, this dude got issues.
SPEAKER_04You don't like your villa Twinkie, huh?
SPEAKER_01It was about the personality and the craziness. I like that switch up. I like the switch up and character with all the fucking personality just the motherfucker wouldn't be the coldest dude in the game to be like literally a child. Like we ass child. And it was creepy too. What the hell happened? Like I like that was that was the moment where I went from thinking, all right, man. This dude, this dude, he just cold to be like I actually hated him at that very moment. Well, I don't know. This is the guy that I got introduced to.
SPEAKER_06I I don't need Zant, I prefer Garraham, but uh the doctor, did you have another character? Nobody's been anywhere near Zelda.
SPEAKER_08I like the different versions of Zelda.
SPEAKER_03So I will be careful as a character, but that's who Zelda is.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, true.
SPEAKER_03Fair enough. The goddess who basically you know rules the timeline and such and keeps reincarnating in the body of this princess.
SPEAKER_04But okay, Kaze. Uh I don't have too many uh specific people. Well honestly, I think I think what's I think what uh was it was what Legend Zelda does does well is they they they they they get like you only give like brief climpse glimpses of these other characters, but they have so much personality that when you run by them and like they they because uh because because silent silent protagonists don't always work in every game, but but like the people you meet are like so just like you know full of like life and personality that you don't you know you don't even notice that you know the person you're playing isn't adding anything to the conversation you're playing only has like two words and it's like that's not it.
SPEAKER_01That's the only thing does not have no lies whatsoever. All right, bro. Like that's it. You know, swing that sword really hard? All right, cool. Like that's about it.
SPEAKER_04Oh shit, but no, I love I love the like like like I said before, I like the I love the tuxedo mass stroke because so she, you know, Sheik was you know, that was kind of you know built, you know, built built in. Oh also also I think I think I think meeting Sheik was the first time that I I met someone like capable who was helping me. I play like uh like Link's Awakening and and and and I feel like nobody did shit for me. I was somebody was like, oh, here you go. I think it's over there somewhere. And like, oh here's here's a here's a riddle, figure it out. And I, you know, like like you know, like the one dude, like it's it's dangerous out there. Take this. Like that is uh that that that is what most soda characters kind of kind of boil down to. But um, but no, I love I love I love Midna. Um again, like Imp Imper. I love I love I love the different uh iterations of uh Impa. I really I I really want to play her. I need to play Age of Calamity because I want to play her in something. Uh kind of kind of sad they they never put her in Smash, but it's cool.
SPEAKER_06I mean you get yeah, yeah, dynasty warriors, uh Hyper Warriors rather, and Age of Uh uh Calamity. See doing better. Uh so definitely, you know, both of those are good.
SPEAKER_04Um I love the uh love the uh great fairies, they are bundles bundles of personality.
SPEAKER_06Uh to this day, the the laugh is just so chaotic. Um in every installment, actually. Um, I think in Orine of Time, the that like the first time I saw a fairy, I think my mother was nearby or in the room, and she was like, What are you playing? This like lace leaf, like like it just was her legs outstretched, it was just a lot, and like fairy dust was coming out of her, you know, um special place. Um, I mean, and she came out of a fountain, so I guess it was a wop, but you know, it's just it was the first time great for her came out and started laughing.
SPEAKER_04I learned I turned behind me like I had surround sound. Like I was like, what is this coming from? The sound was everywhere. Yeah, it was like I was like, How'd you get behind me? And it was so deep, like I was like, bitch, what I I thought I thought I I thought she might have been a man for the longest time. I like shit, she she did she face kind of strong, she had that snar. So I was like, Oh, I was like, all right, cool. This is I don't know what I thought a furry was, but there's uh this is uh expanding my definition. But uh yeah, great phrase. Uh uh fantastic. Uh Zelda's great. Who uh oh yeah, and yeah, like Champions, I always love always love uh the Ganon's and Ganadors. Yeah, like Ganon, Ganondorf is honestly just this he don't always say much, but like but he always he almost always has all the charisma that is in a Zelda game.
SPEAKER_06You know, being wielded by the Skull Kid, um tried to emulate the swagger that um that Ganendorf had as a as a villain, but at the end of the day, it was it was a skull kid with the mask on, and so he was like trying to up his uh status quo far beyond his capabilities until the mask finally was sentient and was like, Yeah, I was just using you, get off. And then it was like, Okay, I'm I'm like to this day, Majora's mask is is my all-time favorite like villain in most things, honestly, it by itself without the skull kid. So it's like it it really didn't need him, it was only using him to a means to an end. He just needs to get places because he didn't have enough energy, had used it all, trapping this city within or this this land within three days. So he had to regain all his energy and then you know pull the moon to the earth and all that jazz. Um oh, the moon. Ah, great character. Uh great great aesthetic. Um put the fear in the hearts of people all over the place. Um, who else? Um, I can't make all my characters from Majora's Majora's mask. Of course, Sheik and Gandorf as well. Uh uh. I mean, not a favorite, but but uh the uh the the the fucking mask seller for Majora's mask the the passion like he only received well they because I still don't know they only received maybe well depends on how long you left him left them there, you know, uh without pressing the button, the A button, but they only received like maybe five minutes of screen time and the amount of visuals, expressions, um emotions that they pervade, even though they weren't like I felt like they were yelling at me even though they didn't say anything, just the movements the oh my gosh, you gave away my mask. You can give it to me, right? Very simple. Just give me the mask. Oh my gosh, how come you don't have the it was just so much?
SPEAKER_04Yeah, and the music, I was horrified. Oh I was just deeply between him and the moon. Like that that that game was so full of anxiety, so twisted.
SPEAKER_06I I I just oh oh oh I forgot. Um, I can't remember his name. It's it's it might be Shoto, but the um the uh haunted dancer, the one that died without people seeing his magical dance. Oh, to this day, that music plays in my head all the time. I sometimes do that dance every now and then. Um God, there's just so many characters, honestly.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, yeah. The character the characters of Zelda, they're more about moments than uh like you know, act being actual character with actual like backstory. Okay, so those are kids.
SPEAKER_01What real quick, the one last character, and this is just I'm just gonna shout out a whole race to go round. Oh more definitely. I can do that too. Every game is Gerudo. Every game they they show up. That that those are my people. That's that's my literally eat, they work hard, they all about smash and shit. Like just like that's that's that's the squad right there. That's what it is.
SPEAKER_04If they had a bit more representation, it might probably be Gerudo, but I think I gotta go with Zora. Like this is all they're always just so sleek, and the buildings are so beautifully made, and uh, and like and they you know they they're always just so in tune with their environment, you know, except for the one great evil thing that got that just got fucked up that you need to fix.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, always somebody messed up the lake and now they can't do anything, it's either frozen over, too hot, poison, something. Yep, it's a giant whirlpool, something and they can't handle it. Uh and I I will I want to give an honorable mention to the Rito, um, which is the bird people. Uh, they they shocked me when they introduced them in uh what game was that? Was that Skyward Sword? Or Twilight?
SPEAKER_07What game was it? Uh the Doctor. Do you remember when the Rito were introduced?
SPEAKER_03I think they were officially introduced in Breath of the Wild. I think they were an offshoot of something else from Skyward Sword, though.
SPEAKER_06Okay, okay.
SPEAKER_03I could be wrong about that though.
SPEAKER_06Okay, I can't remember when they were introduced. But yeah, uh definitely, definitely a uh honorable mention because they uh it it you wanted to have another uh race of individuals, and they were trying to figure out well where else can they come from? We got people in the mountains and lava, we got people in the sea, got people on land in the deserts. Um, what's next? So, you know, definitely going towards sky, sky people was definitely uh and I think they might have been introduced, you're right, a little bit in Skyward Sword, uh, being that the game primarily took place in the sky. And then of course, as uh Shampoo Braces at the Twine Tweely.
SPEAKER_04Um this uh this uh this wiki says that they were in uh that they that they were in Wind Waker and that they must be. Oh, the little dragons they appeared somewhere else first. Yeah, and it's I can't believe I forgot that. And they said they evolved from uh from Zora.
SPEAKER_06Uh yes, because that's why Zora weren't inside of Wind Waker.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, so they're two different Rito. So they're the Rito that evolved from Zora and Breath of the Wild, um, that are completely bird-like, and they have kind of a half bird like half it's something there's something different in Wind Waker. They consider two different races effectively. Really?
SPEAKER_06That's good to know. Yeah, because I was wondering why they had um the sapphire, uh uh Rito Sapphire. Um, because I was like, the Zora normally have it, and I'm like, so we the the entire earth is flooded, and we don't have Zora here. They they didn't survive. They they couldn't just swim. I don't okay. Anywho, uh, right. So last point before we uh you know wrap it up. What are our future expectations? Um, I said before, you know, right now we're currently in the age of calamity, uh, moving towards a confirmed Breath of the Wild 2. Uh, literally, Zelda can go anywhere from here uh as it pertains to installments and where the game can take us. Um uh we're you know always excited about what they potentially can do. But I think one of the things that we've all kind of agreed on is each game and each installment has different things that they can improve upon and different things that they're introducing that's brand new to the game of uh uh open world or action adventure uh games. So, you know, from the dungeons to the weapon system to the bosses to the shrines to uh anything. What what what do we want to expect from the future of Legend of Zelda?
SPEAKER_04And this time we will start with Kaze uh from the future of Legend of Zelda. I mean, honestly, one of the one of the fantastic things about Breath of the Wild existing is I get to live in this space where I don't entirely know what to expect, and I love that. Um but seeing as how the next installment is confirmed to be Breath of the Wild too. Um yeah, I I definitely uh kind of like what I was saying before. I definitely want to get back to uh, you know, get time to my central theme. My my favorite thing is um the you know the being involved with that, like that sense of wonder. And so I would really love for them to just not they don't necessarily need to be temples, but just the the the sheer amount of theme and environmental storytelling that you get from a temple and a boss uh incorporating like all the things like there was there's there was always like little stories like this laid out between them and then and like and the stories always wrapped up after you met the boss, you're like, oh that's because that and then it and oh shit animated you and it you know and that was that's something that I didn't that I was I was really looking for that I didn't get from the you know the divine bees um so it is really it is back to this very interesting themed uh boss, especially, especially with the sense of scale that's in Breath of the Wild. I think they can do something like fan like something really interesting and fantastic, like kind of like leaning like towards like kind of when you found the dragons, like out in the wild. Just like you know, like stuff, you know, stuff like more leaning towards that way. But we you know, let's go we can go like even a step, you know, a step for a step further, especially with the tools and the openness, like they can really like like the sky, you know, the sky's a little bit is literally the limit if even if that if you want to stop there. Um yeah, just so yeah, this yeah, and just interesting bosses, interesting uh temples, and just new fantastic uh items that change the way you play.
SPEAKER_06Uh bracelets.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, so um like like uh Kaze says, we already know that uh Breath of the Wild 2 is the next installment. Um I have more of an idea of what they'll be going for this time. Normally, when the new Zelda game comes out, you don't know what the next one's gonna look like.
SPEAKER_05At all.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, they they can switch up the art style, they can make it look like Wind Waker or four seasons. We don't know. They can hell, they might, and since they only have one handheld now, we at least know what system's coming up. So like one point, we didn't even have that idea. Hey, we can hope but anyway, but no, it's like, yeah, I I I do I look forward to seeing that they stick with the degradation system because I do think they're gonna make some changes in the next one, but I don't know. Uh like my one wonder are they gonna stick with the degradation system? Are they gonna change that out? Um are they uh are they going to maybe improve upon like like the crafting system that was kind of there? Are we gonna actually be able to craft weapons? You know, like that's something I would like to see. Um, since they did kind of ease into that, would because of the success that they may have heard of or saw with with um Age of Calamity and how that weapon system went on wonder if they're gonna follow those footsteps. So it's like so I do wonder how they plan to carry on this game. I do look forward to a more traditional return to like how temples work. Um I I don't know if I wonder if they're gonna keep this like puzzle focus that they had on this last one on Breath of the Wild. I wonder if they're gonna return more to a mix between action and puzzle and more in you know kind of ditching the shrine aspect and more so going for a temple aspect. And I don't think they're going with the divine beast. I think they might, if they do go with the temple aspect, they might return to the temple aspect to replace the divine beast and possibly keep the shrine. Um, I also have this wonder are they going to go the route of ICO for those who know what ICO is, with a game where you pretty much um escort this girl around these uh these tribes. I forgot where you were trying to get her exactly, but pretty much you have this um this princess with you, and you're this war you're kind of the same aspect of Zelda and Link, and you're escorting this princess around these tribes, trying to get her to whatever location, but your whole job is to protect her. Since Zelda is now free from Ganning, and this game is supposed to take place out there, unless they plan on having her recapture and do the whole Mario Princess Peach thing in the trailer right there next to him. So unless you're exactly so I'm wondering if they're gonna go back around and have him escorting her around, and maybe she'll be able to like all the magic that you do is through her, and all the sword fighting is through him type aspect, and make it make possibly make it co-op.
SPEAKER_06Exactly.
SPEAKER_04I was just about to say that it is it is in the in the in the trailer her hair was cut, yeah. And and and it's like cutting hair, it's not that it's all on Sakura time and popping, yeah, and and you know, and this ain't like this and this ain't regular regular Zelda. This is like great sage. I've been keeping this nigga at at bay. I know how to use my powers.
SPEAKER_01Uh uh full control of my realm.
SPEAKER_06So especially after Age of Calamity, and she's using the Sheikah slate, like there's so many things she actually can do.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, so we're we're ready for uh more agency and we're ready for playable Zelda. That's that's where yeah, that's it. No, the doctor is very high about this.
SPEAKER_06The doctor, playable Zelda.
SPEAKER_03Oh, yeah, definitely, you know, and especially with um you know one thing I've always loved about her as a character is that you know, even though she's Joey hasn't been playable in games, she uh she leads link to her own escape, you know, whether that's masquerading a cheek, the guy like, oh, this is what you have to do, you know, or you know, Breath of the Wild, like where she's you know kind of holding back at it and saying, Oh, here are different points where you need to go to to get what you need. Like, I've always loved that about her, and I would love to see them lean really hard into that with her as a playable character. So, you know, being uh you know, both like this guide as well as yeah, like this strong, like magical combatant or something like that. Um, so yeah, that's definitely what I'm looking forward to.
SPEAKER_06Uh so I it's interesting that the that Shampoo bracelet's brought up that particular game. I forget the name of it, I apologize. You're muted at Iko, you said Iko, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Because there's another game I think they might show that just showed up recently. And I can't remember if it's like Haze or not, it's like it's pretty much you play as this couple that's stuck on this planet.
SPEAKER_04Oh, I just saw that.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah, I I've seen trailers on it, I've seen video on it, and I can see that type of gameplay possibly as well. So um I I'm I'm interested. I'm really interested.
SPEAKER_06No, no, no, and that's that's what I'm saying. Like, I think the idea is it's it's it's it's plausible, and that's only based off of because you know, as we were just saying before, the Legend of Zelda team do very well in keeping stuff under wraps. Nintendo in general has a really good job of keeping stuff under wraps, and everything we see online for the most part is speculation or fan theory or fan fiction. Um, Zelda being one of the big ones because it's one of their big titles. Um, so you know, all they released, which was I think what two or two two years ago, a year and a half ago, was that trailer of you know, Link and Zelda going down into under Hyrule Castle, and they have this like mummified creature that we're not sure who it is. And all we can do is speculate where they could be going. I agree wholeheartedly with the Dr. Kaze and Shample bracelets about hoping, hoping that it's a potential two-player or co-op uh uh game or a playable Zelda game or you know, character Zelda game, um, where you know she's doing the magic. I was actually my point was going to be I was hoping they'd go back to bringing back magic. Uh the sheiker slate is all fine and good, and you know, we got the ice block and you know, freezing time and stuff like that. Magnetism uh Magnosis, sorry. Um uh but if you remember back in the day, we had Din's Fire, we had Furrow's Wind, like we had abilities, magical abilities that Link could use to change the state of the game. Now, not saying he doesn't have somewhat magical, but now it's kind of Sheikah Slate related. So if Zelda is playable or if Zelda is a a uh uh what's the word? Um Uh uh aid, or kind of as the doctor was saying, kind of a sheik adjacent. Uh, because even sheik was still using magic when she was helping, like whether it was sound magic, whether she was, you know, she was a ninja, but she was still throwing fire at times. And granted, they were teleportation, teleportation, they were chic abilities or chica abilities, but she was still able to do things that Link could not do. Let me change it. She wasn't using magic, she was still able to do things that Link could not do. And I want those types of things to happen again in the game, where either even if it's Zelda doing magical abilities, because you remember, like in what was it? Uh, it wasn't Skyward Store, Twilight Princess, you know, Zelda showed up after she was uh uh uh taken back from Ganon, she was shooting light arrows on the back of the horse with Link. And I'm like, I let that's fine. Co-op riding side saddle, shoot them light arrows. Those were dope, uh oh, dope times, in my opinion. So bringing back magic, giving us some type of co-op or co-op two-player game, or have Zelda save save Link.
SPEAKER_04Ooh, so switch it up. I mean, not the whole game, but just that'd be fun. That'd be interesting. It would be interesting, and she does it all the time anyway. Does some don't bring attention to the obviousness?
SPEAKER_06I mean, a Zelda training montage, I think, would be good because Impa is well, Impa's not there. How would she learn? Oh, maybe she could, oh, maybe she can go to like um some type of flashback training or maybe like uh on the spiritual plane because like all those um all the Sika uh uh uh what are they called? Sages, I guess they're called, the ones that are inside the shrines. I feel like they could do some type of monkeyatsu avatar past live type of training with her, and maybe she can learn to fight through that.
SPEAKER_04I mean, I honestly where she's at, I would prefer that she's already in the know. And and and uh and and I'd rather it just be like she likes that as far as like growth, character growth in game, like she's uh f finding things she needs to be able to do certain things. Or or or or if her uh you know, or if her power is locked behind, you know, blocked behind something and is coming back slowly, and you gotta do stuff to get you know get her power back after she wasted all of it, keeping this demon god at me for like 3,000 years. Um, but but I uh yeah, I I would prefer if they did everything they could to veer away from the kind of the damsel in distress uh thing in this like give Zelda a lot of agency and power and uh whatnot.
SPEAKER_06I mean, I think that's something that can definitely be done with the dungeons if she like goes to different shrines and dungeons and she like meditates. And and when I said her learning abilities, I don't mean her magical abilities. I was talking about turning into sheik and having fighting training and shit like that. So like she's using throwing knives and like she may maybe even trains with the Koga? Yiga? Yiga tribe, there it is, something like that. I don't know. Anyway, uh, any other points? Yes.
SPEAKER_01I got one more point that I would like to see happen.
SPEAKER_06What's up?
SPEAKER_01And then we see it so much in all the other Zelda games, but we always see it towards the end. I would like to see what it's like when you put two of the two of the pieces of Triforce together and then just have to fight the third for the whole fucking game. Like, I just would like to see that how they can make that work. Like it it interests me because it's like you always get to see it at the end, but it's like we got two of the pieces of triangle, and they're so powerful. Yeah, the third piece is still strong enough to fight.
SPEAKER_07Because the third piece is power, exactly.
SPEAKER_01And that's what I was like, well, that's what I'm saying. Like now that we got the other two pieces. Let's see what happens when we just have the two pieces fuck up everything in the game until it finally gets to the end and fucks up the third. That's what I would just like to see that if they can make that happen now. I think it can make that interesting, that'd be cool to watch.
SPEAKER_06I mean, going back to what Kaze said, I don't think that I I it's not that that couldn't happen, but it's a higher I think there's a higher chance that they would allow Zelda to start the game, save Link. Now they have the two pieces together, and then they go and fight the third piece of the Triforce wherever the fuck it is. But uh oh, Kaze, you had a point?
SPEAKER_04Uh oh, I was gonna say but bouncing off of that. Uh I think I think any kind of uh in-game application of of the Triforce uh would be like like as far as like actual gameplay would be super interesting. Um throughout the series, like you get to like you know, like Z like Zelda just kind of like uses hers like kind of passively and uses her uses it to seal Ganon or hold him off. But but get but Ganon like just grabs the power and he's he gets to do Thanos shit, man, just eradicate cities and open portals and just transform into you know, so I I would be I'd be interested to see like uh just implementations of like you know, Link, Link tapping into what courage and what that means, like that what that can mean in moment to moment combat or puzzle solving and Zelda like tapping into the you know triforce wisdom and you know maybe channel Hylia or go into great sage mode, you know. And you know, it'll be interesting to all possible actually use the the Triforce, even though I don't see it happening though. I I don't think we win use the fire emblem either. All the damn game, like yep, it's there.
SPEAKER_01Like I wouldn't I wouldn't even be mad if they did some Superman 3 bullshit, like it's like all of a sudden the triangle comes out of somebody's chest and they stole it or anything. Like I would like, I wouldn't even mind this, like I wouldn't even mind this shit. Like, give me something, you know.
SPEAKER_06Like my last point, my last point is the fact that now that Zelda is accessible, Zelda is there. I feel like places that Link could not go, not saying that the game had like locked doors and stuff like that, but places that Link could not go because he's not a member of the royal family, they cannot open up different parts of Hyrule or different parts of this land that are not accessible by people who are not royal blood. So now it's like you know, because if you remember, even in Orkney of Time, the only reason why Link could get into most of the places is because he had the uh uh uh somebody give it to me. I know the doctor can give it to me. The um Zelda's lullaby, yes, thank you. Yeah, he had Zelda's lullaby on the Orkarina, the specifically the Royal Family Orcarina playing the royal family tune. Actually, that's in most games, even in Majora's Mask. You play the tune. We know you got the secret password from the royal family, so you cool, you can get in and stuff. But if she's there, now she can open up stuff without because they didn't have any music-playing situations in this game. So it's like now can she sing? Can she use her magical ability? Maybe she can use the triforce. What can she use to open up new places that only members of the royal family can go to? So, you know, we've been talking about all these different, you know, aspects of the games, the installments of the Legend of Zelda franchise. But most importantly, I think you know, our fellow panelist Sayune, uh, she uh specifically told us that she has no personal experience with the Legend of Zelda franchise. But the question that I have to ask, after hearing everything we've had to say about our favorites, the things we expect, the things that we want to see, are you in any way, shape, or form intrigued about maybe potentially playing one of the installments, trying it out a little bit?
SPEAKER_00You know, Yolo, uh, I'll try it out.
SPEAKER_07I mean, based off what you said before, you know, I know you're not into the the happiness, you're more of the gory and the shots and the stuff. There's mummies.
SPEAKER_00Just because my latest cosplay had some gore in it, you know, doesn't mean that I can't do happy, you know. You know, look at these flowers.
SPEAKER_05Fair enough.
SPEAKER_00I'll try it out. You know, I will say that uh because of my ignorance, I was one of those people that like, you know, oh, Legend of Zelda. And it's funny because then Kase was saying, oh, you know, Legend of Zelda is not even about Zelda, it's about Link. So for like a lot of like my my years on this earth, I could have sworn that Link was Zelda. So when I heard that Link was not Zelda, I don't know, what the fuck is this? This is that. What's this going on here?
SPEAKER_06So you have to make sure we have to figure out the purpose of five.
SPEAKER_00Even I have to I have to play it to figure out who the hell Zelda is now because I was being boogled, you know what I'm saying?
SPEAKER_06So real quick, uh panelists, uh, which one should she start with? Oh without going into detail.
SPEAKER_04Uh I mean, give giving her sensibilities. I think like uh if uh if we had like a rematch uh what uh like a remastered version of Majora's mask, because I think she will really vibe with the tone. That's true. Uh or or or if just other than that, Debartford Wild's definitely a fantastic uh entry point.
SPEAKER_01I would sorry, Shampoo. Oh my god. No, you're fine. No, uh no, go ahead. You go I'll wait.
SPEAKER_05Shampoo, go ahead.
SPEAKER_01Okay, yes. No, I'll um I was gonna say uh because of her sentiments in terms of like anime and story-wise, I would say Twilight Princess because I was one of the darker.
SPEAKER_08That's true.
SPEAKER_01Um and then I would also put, like I said, uh Major's Mask as well. Majora's Mask is actually because of that whole three days to live thing, but Twilight Princess, that was a dark dark. Yeah, the tone of that was like that would be one of the easiest ones because of how Zelda works. You they don't necessarily fall into a place where, oh, you gotta play this to understand this, you gotta play this to understand this. They all work in their own separate dimensions that kind of follow in the same story. So you don't necessarily have to go into an order from a gameplay perspective. Um just to try something to get the different out of the way and just to get you more interested in the story. I would go uh Age of Calamity because because of how much like Dynasty Warriors that game is.
SPEAKER_06Which she does like Dynasty Warriors.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, like that's and I believe you said that I believe you said that before. Age of Calamity is literally Dynasty Warriors with Zelda skin, but Breath of the Wild mechanics.
SPEAKER_08Yep.
SPEAKER_01So it's not, it's a very interesting mix, but it's a very, very, very good mix. Um, and because of the cast of characters that you get to choose from, is it actually gets you more interested in the story? All of them are intricately tied into Breath of the Wild. So if you want to go from a story perspective of your more your sentiments, I would go Twilight Princess. From a gameplay perspective, I would go Age of Calamity, and then that'll get you interested in the story of those two, and then it'll the Breath of the Wild will get you more interested in what Zelda traditionally is.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Um, but yeah, but in terms of like just because of your story sentiments, I would definitely go Twilight Princess first.
SPEAKER_06The Doctor, did you have one?
SPEAKER_03Um Yeah, I definitely agree on um Majora's Mask and Twilight Princess being good fits, um, as well as Age of Calamity and Breath of the Wild um in general. Um my question, my question would be how do you feel about games with older graphics? Like, is that something that takes you out of the game a little bit or whatnot?
SPEAKER_00Um older graphics like like Crash Bandicoot, older graphics.
SPEAKER_03Right. So like Crash Bandicoot era, think something along those lines.
SPEAKER_00I mean, I know that Legend of Zelda is a classic, so that's not gonna bother me. You know, I am a visual, a visual, I call myself visual whore, so to speak. Um, but when it comes to like classics, it's not gonna bother me um at all. Uh I know that I think they're doing some remastering of Zelda, if I'm correct.
SPEAKER_01They do it every year. Um, that was the reason why I said Twilight Punches 2. They actually came up. Yeah, they're remastering right now.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, but like, you know, I feel like to to be to be fair, I want to honor the classics, you know. I'm saying to appreciate it. And um then I'll be like, wow, look at this. This is amazing, you know, compared to uh what it is now. So yeah, I don't mind um how I'm gonna play it. What like does it is it on the Xbox?
SPEAKER_05That's another thing. No, not at all.
SPEAKER_00Oh, so we're talking about PS1.
SPEAKER_06We're talking about Nintendo. Yeah, these are all Nintendo things.
SPEAKER_00All Nintendo, all Nintendo, okay, okay.
SPEAKER_06All right, well, I might have to crash out of y'all house to we can either we can you can either crash or we could get you an emulator, or we can get you. I think I have a actually I have a spare Wii in my house, so you can use it and you can play Twilight Princess Majora's Mask. Uh you can't play Breath of the Wild. We're gonna have to figure out a different uh uh solution for that one. But I do have an extra Wii, so you can definitely borrow it and you can play the uh one of those two games.
SPEAKER_00That'd be great. I I think it's an RPG game, is that correct? Or it is that's also a mix, yeah.
SPEAKER_04It's like an event, it's an adventure game with like RPG elements. Yes, I mean every game has RPG elements nowadays. Nowadays, it's not even like you don't even need to say that. Fucking fucking Madden's head RPG elements.
SPEAKER_08For real though. That's real though.
SPEAKER_07All right, so we I think we're gonna get Sayone into Legend of Zelda. We might see a lot more Legend of Zelda cosplay, people. I think I'm excited. Quite work her up to this Arbosa cosplay one step at a time.
SPEAKER_06All right, that's our last point. That was our celebration. I mean, it's really not a celebration, that was our thinking of the future of what potentially the Legend of Zelda and Nintendo team can do to you know move forward with the game of Legend of Zelda. Our shout-outs to the things that we love and the people that we enjoy throughout the entire uh uh franchise. Uh, we hope to see many, many more things uh and enjoy many, many more games.
