Welcome back to the Blurred Spectrum Podcast. We are here with another episode for you to delight in. We have been actually trying to do this episode for the last pretty much two months. We're we're we're we're we're growing we're going into August. Well, actually, we're in August now. Um, and since the earlier part of this year, moving into June, all five of those months, we've been trying to do this episode. And now that we are here, we I believe all of our panelists who are uh on today are quite excited, uh, quite uh uh emboldened, quite uh ready to give you the information that you probably didn't know. Uh, show you why they're sayings, show you why, you know, for some of them, why this particular uh uh league of people uh are better than uh your favorite Saiyans. So we are here with the Sailor Moon episode. And this is all Sailor Moon. This is starting from back in the 80s all the way up to now, 9-9, and into the 2000s. This is your Sailor Moon uh from Crystal to Eternal. I'm not gonna mess anything else up. I'm gonna stop there, but there are other seasons as well. Uh, from the villains to the Sailor Scouts, uh, from this dimension and this Sailor Sist solar system to the others. We are here to give you why these individual panelists are stands and why you, if you haven't already, should watch Sailor Moon. So, starting off, I'm going to introduce, of course, our delightful panel of this gorgeous morning, afternoon, anywho. Starting with myself. I I I'm copyright infringement. I can't I can't possibly.
SPEAKER_10I mean, we can make one up. I I mean, if it's like if you you can you can argue parody parody by moonlight, screw skirt, and the niggas by daylight never running from the real fight. We are the blurred spectrum podcast. We will never turn our back on our niggas. We are always down for some fuck shit. We are the blurred spectrum podcast.
SPEAKER_03There's nothing I can say.
SPEAKER_02Move Principal Power and his bitch, Galaxy Game. What's good? What's good, younger?
SPEAKER_11Um, yes. Oh man, I got stink stink meter and a damn outfit in my head.
SPEAKER_02I gotta leave. I was waiting for somebody to pick up on it.
SPEAKER_03And this is why we do what we do. Uh, so to uh introduce our panelists after this delightful theme song, uh starting with myself, uh Suchino Shogun, your moderator for today. Uh, also we have the black mcoy. Bonjour. We have Aurora.
SPEAKER_07What's good?
SPEAKER_03We have Kaze Shinryu. Hola, we have shampoo bracelets.
SPEAKER_05What's up? Sorry the phone froze. My bad.
SPEAKER_02We thought y'all were in a different universe. We had to go back through. We have Lorenzo, aka Lolo. Hello. Uh the baby doesn't wash. DL niggas love yourselves.
SPEAKER_03Oh that I do okay. We have Sayonakos play. We have this skills.
SPEAKER_06Hello, everyone.
SPEAKER_04Hello.
SPEAKER_03So, of course, the first thing we must do is I have to go around our panel and figure out who are the individuals, who are the Sailor Scouts, who are the characters from this delightful anime that they stand for. Who are who are the ones that they rep that they feel like represent them? I think we already know one particular one. She has um shouted it from the rooftop since the moment she stepped foot on any stage. Uh, at the moment she came on the podcast, we weren't even talking about Sailor Moon, and it's the first thing she said. So I'm gonna make sure we start with Miss Aurora, aka Neptune. Sailor Mept Toon, if you're nasty. You put yourself out there. All I did was do all I did was uh give you give give you the title you needed. So why do you stand? Why why Sailor Neptune? Why why why do you feel like Sailor Neptune is your spirit, I wouldn't say animal, but your spir your spirit scout? How about that?
SPEAKER_09I like that. I like that too. Um honestly, because she is just she's she was the first queer character I ever seen, known, whatever. Like she's the first queer character I ever knew existed, and the way she's written as a character is so elegant, and so like she's so courageous and so loving of um was it? Your nice and she she gives you this dope balance of compassion and justice very, very well. Like she holds this middle lane of the two very, very well, as opposed to Yorus is very, very more injustice in the fight and like perseverance. She's just I don't know, she's just the the the way she her her the way she's made up. I don't know. I don't know what it is about that one, but she's amazing, you know. Aside from the fact that like she's also a violinist and she loves swimming, which is like I'm not a violinist, but I love music in its entirety. So like I connect with her even on just her hobbies and habits and things that bring her joy. Um she's a bad bitty. I'll give her credit. She's a bad bitty, very true.
SPEAKER_03Okay, okay. Uh well, you know, let's let's continue with our outer scouts, our outer scout stands, and uh uh we have to go a little bit closer into the inner. So uh let's uh let's let's who's representing Sailor Uranus? I believe it is one half of shampoo bracelets. Uh uh Adamo, uh, why Sailor Uranus?
SPEAKER_05Because, like um my partner in crime over here just said, Uranus is that bitch, and she will fuck your shit up. Violence right in my core. Like she will do whatever she needs to do to get that justice. Like, even in old episodes where she was ready to kill Sailor Saturn just to just to stop her from coming to the earth, okay?
SPEAKER_06That's very true.
SPEAKER_05Really to tell Sailor Moon back the hell up and let me do my job. This is what you told me I need to do, so let me go do it. It was a whole pimp though.
SPEAKER_01She went on that.
SPEAKER_05I will say from this season. The the wardrobe they gave the outer scouts, okay. Beautiful, right?
SPEAKER_01Can we talk about that movie?
SPEAKER_05How they did Sailor Uranus, how they gave her that that tomboy edge, like like I can be fly and still be me. Like you you ain't fucking with me, type shit, and walked up on my girl, like who are you? What's up?
SPEAKER_10Soggy said, Are you a boy or a girl? Does it matter? Right.
SPEAKER_06I'm fly. Definitely, I'm fly. Like, so yes, okay, but I got the juice.
SPEAKER_02Is he trying to get some or not?
SPEAKER_05Right, right, right. Like, I got two bad bitches on my arm, and we got a daughter. What's good? I'm great. Living life, and I race fast cars. Who wouldn't want to do that?
SPEAKER_09And no shade. Our our relationship is probably the best vision of a queer relationship, even over topping Serena's and Darien's bowl. You said topping, and I was like, oh Lord, we're not going to be able to do the weakest version of a queer relationship.
SPEAKER_05It uh, we are just Uranus and Neptune's relationship to me was always stronger than what um Sailor Moon and yeah and Tuxedo Mask had. Like their relationship was I mean, isn't that everyone? So, yeah, that that's why I chose Sailor Uranus.
SPEAKER_03Awesome. So continuing with our outer scouts. I mean, you gave you you threw a little bit uh uh threw a little bit of you know, she was gonna kill Sailor Saturn, but we I think we all know how dangerous Sailor Saturn is. So I'm not even gonna act like you know that fight would have been legendary. So representing Sailor Saturn, I must throw it over to Ione cosplay. Why why why why are you standing, girl? Why are you standing well with the Bob?
SPEAKER_05Okay, no shogun because Sailor Saturn will kill every motherfucker in this building, and just for justice, and it is and I love it because she was such a black sheep, she gave you that that innocent, that quiet innocence. She has this this demeanor that you would never think that this very tiny, almost looking frontful character will literally fuck up your entire world. And to me, that is insane. She had this the most unique weapon, which was called I think the Glaive or uh the Glaive, I believe. The glaive of silence um the glaive of silence. The glaive of silence. And when she finished spinning that motherfucker, your world is is is destroyed. And I I love that. I'm all about it. Oh, yeah, there, yeah. I mean, you know, yes, Uranus, Uranus was that bitch, but Saddam will kill everyone. And it was just, I love it. I, you know, Sailor Moon, um, everything about Sailor Moon was very much about positivity, you know, and it was it was very a lot of it was very, you know, I would say femme and and you know, all flowers and good shit. But Sailor Saddam was like, no, fuck all that. I hope it's gonna die. And she didn't care, and I loved that because she was dark, and you know, everybody in this podcast knows I have a very dark personality, dark humor. I love anything that gives that kind of like gothic or noir feel. And I resonated with her the most out of everyone, besides Pluto. But I would say Sailor Saturn and also Saturn is like one of my favorite planets in the solar system as well. So for me, she is that bitch. Um, after she, I believe with her story, after she annihilates the entire planet um or planets in general, she then gets um reincarnated. She she's like a phoenix, she'll kind of start from ground zero and then uh kind of like grow back up to you know, if there's another task at hand. So she was all about I have a task, I have a duty. Yeah, you want to save these people, that's cool, but there is no hope. And I am the last. I am that button that you press to destroy everything. And when I'm here, bitch, everybody's gonna die. So I mean, she I just love it.
SPEAKER_02I'm gonna because I don't feel like doing this all the time.
SPEAKER_05True, true. Yeah, like she didn't want to be here. She likes look, Nick, I was cool in my pajamas at home. You know what I'm saying? Like, I didn't I didn't ask to be here, but because y'all motherfuckers couldn't get your shit together, Sailor Moon. Now I gotta fuck everybody up, and I love it, I love it, and um, I stand always for Sailor Saturn.
SPEAKER_03So rounding out the outers, uh, outer scouts specifically in the outer planets, uh, representing and standing for Setsuna Hakose is the black mccoy Hakuse.
SPEAKER_02Hello everybody, how you doing? Setsuna the stallion on the scene. Not Setsuna the Stallion. She is the tallest of all the Sailor Scouts and clearly the most glorious. Uh, she's also like the reason I loved her so much was partly one because of her powers. Uh two, she was always kind of like burdened with this like amazing, glorious responsibility. And like her guarding the door was literally one of the most interesting things for me because it was supposed that she was never supposed to leave, and even had rules tied to her that like the third of which, if she broke, then she would die. Like she would lose her own life if she didn't fulfill her own responsibility that was, I guess, bestowed upon her, uh, because of who like being the daughter of Pluto and Kronos. And part of I think the the I always loved her, but the moment I truly like fell in love with her was when actually I fell in love with her the moment she stepped on the scene and threw her first attack, but it wasn't until Salem and Crystal where I watched her do it all over again, and you just saw all the chaos on screen, all you heard was scream. You just saw an explosion. I was like, she came in with a whisper and fucked everybody shit up. And I mean, like you can't, you can you can't outdo her like that. Like her. Like she she's I think she was also like a college student compared to like the other uh Center Scouts. I think she was like she was uh uh she was written as like the oldest, I think. Because I think in the install she was a college student, yeah. And uh at one point when in the movie was she like working in like a lab? She was a lab professor, yeah. She was a whole lab professor. Like she had she was kind of she kind of stood for it character-wise, as well as um, like as a Sailor Scout, everything that I actually really stood for and loved. So um, yeah, no, that's that's what made her so amazing for me. And that staff, baby. That staff. I will need to make that staff pretty soon. Um, yes. Let's talk about her outfits though.
SPEAKER_05The bitch was the fly.
SPEAKER_02Hold on, let's get let's get into these keys and run on the belt, darling. Let's get into it. Let's get into this this wine colored bow. Let's get into this black skirt, baby.
SPEAKER_05Oh my god. Oh okay, like give me the purple outfit. Like, what the fuck? She had no biscuit being that fly.
SPEAKER_02And these boots, and the boots, baby. The boots, the boots ate every time. It's cabernet drip. I live. The TVA ain't got nothing on her, baby. Oh no, you didn't. I did.
SPEAKER_03Lord. Um, so of course, we have now addressed our outer scouts. I'm gonna have to move to the inner scouts, and we we do we do have some representatives. We you know, we have some people who are gonna follow up, see what you know the the inner scouts are representing. So, starting with uh the first of uh the planets in uh I believe our solar system, I believe it's Sailor Mercury, represented by low, low. Why are you a stand for Miss Mercury?
SPEAKER_02Well, to be perfectly honest, the first uh reason that I stand Sailor Mercury like as a kid is just being a boy and my favorite colors automatically blue, and uh she's just decked out in blue. So I was like blue, and also I I love like I love characters who can control water, so blue, water, I I was already in, but you know, late later on I just uh you know dug deeper into her character. She's super intelligent, she is she's the one that always has a plan when Usaki is acting a whole fool. Uh she she's like the down girl, like she she she is the BFF that always has a plan. Who um like when things get when things get bad, like she'll put them glasses on and be like, all right, girls, here's what we need to do. Let's let's just let's just calm down and we we're gonna hit X, Y, Z, and we're gonna fuck this bitch up. Like I just I just I love I love Taylor Mercury. Like she she's always very calm and level-headed, and um, you know, she she she's always like a ride or die, and you know, she she's very um she's a tad taw smoking, but but when it's time, when it's go time, like when when she when she transforms, like which when she like uh when the wave comes through and the like the she goes from schoolgirl to like power girl, power water, like like bubbles, like she she's fucking beat girls up with bubbles. Yep, and I'm just like I I loved like I love playing with bubbles as a kid. So I was just she was like bubble blast thing. I was like, oh wow, this is really cool. Like yeah, like I rock I rocks, I rocks with with Sailor Mercury, like just just I I just love I just love I I I love a powerful uh superheroine in blue, and yeah, I'll I'll get I'll get deep deeper into why like uh Sailor Sailor Mercury later on, but that is uh base basically it. You know, she right now she's smart, uh, she controls water, uh and she she is queen of blue, and love it.
SPEAKER_03Awesome, awesome. Having to go to the uh outside, almost outside of the inner Sailor Scouts, uh, representing actually my favorite Sailor Scout. And I know she's gonna do it well, she's gonna stand for her.
unknownOh my god.
SPEAKER_03Uh uh, the the the keeper of Oak Evolution, the the striker of Jupiter's thunder, Sailor Jupiter stand is Ms. Skittles.
SPEAKER_04Hey, hey, you know, you know, you know, I gotta come in and represent but a tall, bad, strong ass, electrifying ass bitches. Okay uh kino.
SPEAKER_01Yes, yes, okay.
SPEAKER_04Government, government here out here standing uh approximately five, six and high over these other bitches, getting kicked out of school with the heel boots, girl. Yes, getting kicked out of school for fighting because she ain't about she ain't about no shit. Okay. Um Sailor Jupiter. So so I will say uh prior to Jupiter showing up on the scene, you know, I I'm uh Leo, so I gravitate towards, you know, the fire elementals, the the fire sign, the red, you know, that so I initially I was you know team Mars because she got that sass, she got that mouth, and she, you know, she was bringing she was bringing the flames, literally. But then Jupiter showed up on scene and she she you know she's like she was like me. So she embodied like the tomboy, um the the quiet boy crazy, uh remind me of my ex type. No, no, that that's not me. But definitely, definitely the boy crazy, tomboy, um, you know, trying to trying to be soft, you know, the the cook, you know, trying to domestic as fun. Yes, domestic is fun. Yeah. Trying to push out that femininity, you know, to let niggas know that, you know, yes, while I might, you know, beat your ass, I'm I'm I'm still I'm still like a soft, like nice person. Like I think about shit. Like I literally care about shit. So not only, you know, she has the the she's like the strongest of the the inner scouts physically, um the hype for me, the the tomboy shit, and and the moment I knew I fucked with with Jupiter is when is when uh they Uranus showed up on the scene, right? And and everybody was like, oh, you know, it's a fine ass nigga, blah blah blah. And then and then everybody found out she was a girl, right? And then Jupiter said, Jupiter said, but she's still fine.
SPEAKER_01Right?
SPEAKER_04She was like, I want the smoke. She and Uranus in the car.
SPEAKER_01I'm still dripping these drops though.
SPEAKER_04In the car went to like, so I just want to get to know you a little better. Was there something you wanted to talk to me about? Like I said, this is why I fuck with you, boo. Okay, I love it. So, yes, uh Jupiter, love her, gotta love her. That's my bag.
SPEAKER_03I be Jupiter. I don't think I could I could uh she she did it for me. I mean, thank you, thank you, thank you. Of course, because I was like, who's gonna represent Jupiter? And Miss Skittles definitely did it. Thank you. That's the truth. Um, so we have uh Kaze Shinryu uh has watched the Sailor Moon franchise, has enjoyed the Sailor Moon franchise. Now I have to ask, are you standing for a particular scout? Are you standing for the entire franchise, or is there some a particular point or person that you wanted to specifically talk about?
SPEAKER_11Uh I'm I'm I'm I'm just here in my little uh uh uh cheerletting uh outfit for Sailor Saturn, and I'm in the Sailor Saturn uh support group. Ever since I found out white kids been doing it, uh I've I've been I've been saying I blow this motherfucker up. And when I found out that's that's what she that's that's what she was about. I'm like, oh uh we can just reset all this shit. We can just I thought when bubbles we blow no planets. Okay, let's go. I mean, I would I would never. I mean, I could be the planet from home.
SPEAKER_02As they said, y'all blow bubbles, bitch. I burst them.
SPEAKER_11That's been said about me uh a lot before, actually. Uh uh, but but no, but no, yeah, just just definitely definitely here for the uh uh Sailor Saturn uh uh support. I I I'll I'll give a uh uh I can yeah, I think I think I think we missed somebody, so I I I'll give a little I'll give a little nod to uh you know what I'm saying, big, you know, the big red planet, miss Mars. You know, I always always appreciate her. Um you know, I always liked how like uh uh you know uh competent she was. I was always liked uh you know she ain't you know she ain't she she ain't talk to mouth, but that but that mouth though. She she she always she always had something to say if you're you know say she was she was one of the first people uh to to to let sell a boo know she was like so so so so so so what are your uh uh what why why are you leading the team?
SPEAKER_02Like what's what exactly what are the particulars in the I know I know you're not new here, but like what do you do? Is there a Sailor Scout HR? Because I have a lot of questions, right?
SPEAKER_11You know, so she she was she was definitely like uh someone needed to ask inside. I definitely uh uh appreciate her for that. I'll also also appreciate it like much like uh much like Mercury. She was like super she was a super useful uh even outside of her uh sailor's sailor suit, you know, because she was uh she was a shrine maiden. She could she could sense she could sense uh evil before they showed up half the time. If if something wasn't popping up on uh Mercury's little little pocket computer that we why does that sound like shots again?
SPEAKER_03I know they're not, but that sounds like shots. No, they're not.
SPEAKER_11Uh then yeah, she definitely, you know, she would she would definitely was ahead of our time, right?
SPEAKER_02Right.
SPEAKER_11Then yeah, she would definitely uh feel like an evil, evil presence coming. She can uh you know, she she can get rid of she can give get rid of the evil spirit uh with the without fire. She could you know what I'm saying? Fire fires is when you know you do just want that shit handled, handled.
SPEAKER_02She threw a talisman.
SPEAKER_03I was about to say back in the day, I felt like Lee Shawron learned from Sailor Mars. I was like, I know I know she taught you how to do that.
SPEAKER_02Uh yeah, no, and uh, and yeah, and and so and and celestial fire was uh always that that yeah, you know Sailor Mars was like the team blunt roller because the way she burned papers. Everybody needs one, everybody needs one. That's true.
SPEAKER_03So, okay, of course, we uh as uh Kaze alluded to, we had a couple of uh uh last minute uh exclusions. Uh some people couldn't show up for today's recording, and uh, you know, those will be our honorable mentions, as he said, you know, Sailor Mars, uh Sailor Moon, of course, is gonna be represented, as well as Sailor Chibi Moon is gonna be represented, as well as you know, of course, we always have to talk about the uh the Sailor Quartet. Now, I'm of course I'm I'm talking about.
SPEAKER_05Oh, you skipped Sailor. Did we cover Sailor Venus? Because I was just about to say ever gives love.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, you're on the planet. That was literally where I was going.
SPEAKER_03You baggy's main pussy coffer, like wow, she's the one who does about to say nobody gives love, she keeps the hairs all you know, nice and steamed.
SPEAKER_02You know, she probably does the waxing and the happy ending afterwards. Yeah, yeah. Um you know she keeps a happy ending. You know, you know she keeps the anal beads on deck.
SPEAKER_01Oh my god, wow.
SPEAKER_05Heart shape, anal beads. I agree.
SPEAKER_02Oh my god, this is manipulated for her pleasure. Sailor Sailor Sailor 2 O's and Sailor Moon aren't there for no reason.
SPEAKER_03Sailor Bead has always confused me. Um, uh, because kind of going back to uh what both Kaze and um uh Adama were alluding to about, oh, actually, even Lola was alluding to is you know who was the leader. And I, you know, by default, I assumed it was Sailor Moon, you know, because you Sailor Moon, name of the show, you know, on the playwright. But then I kept hearing this person in the background type Well, I'm the leader of the group. I'm like, girl, you got a teacher. What you talk about? What you I mean, I'm not I'm not doubting her in any way, shape, or form. She did what she needed to do, um, even though every time she did an attack, it had to be conjoined with somebody else's to destroy a monster. But that's not that's beside the point. I'm just saying, you know, Sailor Venus did what she needed to do. We don't have anybody specific to unless somebody wants to stand for her right now. Anybody?
SPEAKER_11I I would say my girl's working hard for like for years, for years, yeah.
SPEAKER_10Why these bitches was at school, you know, she was getting the work done.
SPEAKER_02So obviously, you're right.
SPEAKER_05Like you couldn't do Sailor, like, there would be no, I would say Sailor Moon if it wasn't like Sailor Moon can't kind of came after Sailor Venus. Sailor Venus, and we have to give Sailor Venus her props. She was the one doing it first, you know what I'm saying? She might not have had everybody else got their memories, so she was doing the damn thing, right? Right. So she was doing something, she took the initiative. Is she the most powerful? No, but she was out in the streets and doing what she had to do before Sailor Moon. Literally, you know what I'm saying? Before Sailor Moon got all her memories back, and the rest of the thing. So Sailor Venus, I mean, she had a whole fandom. You know what I'm saying?
SPEAKER_03So now we have Stan. I I could have sworn I waited for somebody.
SPEAKER_09No, but like I'm not a silent one Venus stand, but I'm not gonna discredit her either.
SPEAKER_03I didn't discredit her, I was I was making points to agitate people's minds, and therefore Kaze stood up, and then the rest of you stood up. So it looked like I had to pay that really.
SPEAKER_11I mean, I mean, Venus V is my pick behind behind Saturn is just that sat Saturn's the pick. Fair enough.
SPEAKER_02So I was like, okay. Because you said that Mars needs some representation. I know I no, I didn't. I did not definitely did. You was representing Mars is not here in heavy silence, and so I stepped up.
SPEAKER_07Do not let us go back and listen to the episode of Venus.
SPEAKER_05Sailor Venus was that bitch, right? Sailor Venus was, I think, was the only Sailor Scout that had a fandom, to be truly honest, that was in the public eye, and also that was fighting crime, and she was doing you know what she gotta do for the time that she did until she had to step down because Sailor Moon clearly was more powerful than she was, but she had a fandom and she was more than just talk, she actually did, you know, power, she was definitely way more powerful, but like tactically, like as a person, she was probably more powerful.
SPEAKER_02Sailor Woman, she I I feel like I feel like Sailor Venus was not like like more powerful, like magic-wise, like ability-wise, but like when it came to like she was absolutely more powerful, but that was pretty much she was more mature, right?
SPEAKER_05Yeah, Sailor Venus had leadership. So Sailor Venus had leadership that Sailor Moon did not at the end, you know. I'm saying she she stood up, she was the one, she was the group leader, she was the one with the PowerPoint presenting the PowerPoint, but like bitches move. I'ma fucking present this motherfucking PowerPoint with animating, you know, backgrounds and booms and all that shit. I'm that bitch, you know what I'm saying? And I respected her. She she wasn't my favorite in the sense that I couldn't resonate with her like that. But I have you know, no, there would be no fucking Sailor Moon without Sailor Venus because even Usagi was looking up to Sailor Venus, you know what I'm saying? Before she even came to be, you know, she got her her memories back. So I mean, you gotta give respect to the girl. She was doing it, she got fucking magazines and chill with her face on it.
SPEAKER_02So question in the show was I can't remember, was Sailor Venus older than Usagi?
SPEAKER_06Oh, I think Sailor No, I think so. Because I think she was a couple years older.
SPEAKER_09Okay, I believe I yeah, because Serena, I think it was the Serena and or Usagi and um Amy Mercury, they were the same age, yeah. And it was like Mars, Jupiter, and Venus were like a year older. Jupiter, okay, yeah, that nature. It was always alluded that they were the older of the the five.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, okay.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, brought in the other scouts, yeah, okay. Old this, I should say.
SPEAKER_11And we and we definitely and we definitely gotta respect that uh that not not only was she the the the old the OG Sailor in Canon, she was the OC guest sailor in real life. The OG manga was a set was a sailor Venus manga, yeah.
SPEAKER_02And and Soe Animation was like, no, we we we want a team of girls, and and and she was like, Okay, let me uh let me draw her around this bitch. Let me formulate some weaker personalities around this.
SPEAKER_11So that that was a so that was a really cool nod to that that she was uh she was already in business and working by the time the other girls came around because uh because that's what happened.
SPEAKER_05So she deserves her flowers. Most most she does, she does. I think a lot of a lot of times people push her to the side, um, but she was doing it first. Like you have to give you give honor to people that set the precipice on what you need to do, even her style. Like Sailor Sailor Moon wouldn't have been really who she was without Sailor Venus to me. So she was the mentor, I guess the person to idolize in Sailor Moon, who didn't even want to fucking step up, to be honest. Like, she was just kind of like made like bitch do something, but a lot of times Usan was really back like I don't want to do it and and do that work.
SPEAKER_11I mean, I felt I felt that for real. Wait, wake it up and give me responsibilities and shit.
SPEAKER_01I want to be a game. What do you mean with possibility?
SPEAKER_04I gotta save planets and and and galaxies and nah nah.
SPEAKER_02I'm still trying to pass English.
SPEAKER_09I feel like Sailor Venus, though, I think I feel like the reason why most didn't jump to connect with her was because she was orange, same. No, to me, at least I feel like she had a lot of makings of a of a white woman.
SPEAKER_06Well, she and she and Serena to me were white women.
SPEAKER_09To me too, to me too. But I I for some reason I didn't feel the same way about Sailor Moon's character in comparison to hers. Because all like her her mo, her, her wanting the fame, the light, the like she was she she came off my girl in the 21st century. She low-key a problematic ass housewife, no shade. And she like it was a turn off. It was it was she was giving me those vibes before that was a thing.
SPEAKER_06But Sailor Moon was a babe in the long time. Sailor Moon Lucifer was problematic in hell.
SPEAKER_09I doubt she is, she's the queen of white girl tears.
SPEAKER_02Like, she she and when you remember when they first brought back Sailor Moon Crystal, I think it was like the first or second episode. The bitch literally cried, right? And it was powerful.
SPEAKER_05I was like, yo, what kind of white power birthday like the older episodes? I'm glad they have turned down the crying from Usagi saying absolutely, like it makes it so much more enjoyable than every episode. This bitch in tears.
SPEAKER_02Cause listen, when I when I started watching Crystal, and like I will after after like the first episode, I'm like, okay, she's crying, you know, I'm used to this bitch crying everywhere. And as the show went on, I saw there were no tears, it was all action, all action. Like there were fights where I mean I forgot it was one of the villains where um Sailor Mercury was in cram school. Um, and she had like a friend or whoever, like they were like there was a monster that was like, you know, fucking up all the computer shit and like zombifying everybody, and knocked her out of the window from however many floors the whole was up in the air. Yeah, and Sailor Moon showed up on the scene, didn't have a conversation, didn't ask no questions. All you saw was twirling and destruction. And she was like, No, we're not talking about this. There's no conversation. You fucking my bitch. I'm about to get in that ass.
SPEAKER_06Oh, period. Twirling and destruction. I need that thing. I want that thing.
SPEAKER_08She said, I'm not gonna cry, I'm not gonna cry, I'm not gonna shed no tears. I hate you.
SPEAKER_05I'm like, finally, just to fuck shit up and no tears. Thank you.
SPEAKER_09Right, but you know so much backbone in Crystal, yeah, yeah, yeah. That bad in the manga.
SPEAKER_04I mean, but it was about time though, like, right? Like, we literally watched we lot we watched her for fucking like five seasons, like RS, like crying and shit. When Crystal hit, you goddamn right, it shouldn't be no goddamn tears no more. Like, I don't got time. I'm I'm tired.
SPEAKER_01Like, yeah, I'm tired. I'm tired.
SPEAKER_02So I question for y'all, do y'all think that that stark difference between the 90s like super cry Serena and the like crystal all about that action, like 2000, like 2000s, uh Usagi is a product of how not just like the industry, but how women were viewed socially?
SPEAKER_05Um, I think I think really what it is is that the creator knew that we're the generation right now watching it. So when we were kids, you know, we were we probably resonated because we were children, like, oh my gosh, you know, I would be the same way too with all that report. I mean, so you know, we we were empathetic. Yeah, we're more empathetic. But now she knows that our generation, yeah, like we're grown, we're adults, so we're about, yeah, you know, get your 15 minutes to shed that tea, but bitch, get the fuck up and murder these niggas. Like, you know what I'm saying? That's where we are now. So I feel like I mean it could be a combination of both, but I think the the crystal knew their audience. Crystal knew that it's not this new generation of kids now that's gonna appreciate Sailor Moon, it's our generation that's appreciating Sailor Moon, it's our nostalgia that's really grasping onto it. So I think they've they connected with that, and and I think that's really what it is, to be truly honest. But was she was did she cry like that in the manga? Because I didn't read the manga, so I was just curious.
SPEAKER_09No, no, not as not as heavily as it was done once it was televised. Yeah, very clear that she was a cry baby, but it wasn't every um uh what like she would cry for valid reasons, she wouldn't just be busting out of her. Yeah, like they they the manga really fleshed out her emotions to make it understandable why she would cry and how that like is her her go-to not yeah, her go-to thing to do in certain situations where she feels really deeply hurt.
SPEAKER_06Okay, yeah.
SPEAKER_02I think that might also might be like a medium thing where uh if someone if someone cries in a manga panel, that's uh it's a panel, and it's like okay, that happened, that's here, but but the manga is kind of like okay, so it's happening and it's on screen, and it's it's still on screen, and right it's it's still happening. Find out next time while Serena's still crying on screen.
SPEAKER_11So you know, so that you know, so that might have that might just been them like them being like, yeah, if somebody cries, that's how long people people fucking cry for, that's how long it takes people to get through shit. But it but you but you just reading the manga battles, it's like okay, oh yeah, she cried, okay, then something happened. And because you rarely get to the panels with someone that's crying for multiple uh scenes. So yeah, that's I think that might have been a uh a trans a translation type of thing. Uh you know, and I and also I also think the uh uh uh that might, you know, but uh it I think the number one reason is definitely like what what's gonna get little Japanese girls to read this. Um because that's that's what it's about. This is the 80s, 90s, you know, shojo was was gonna was gonna get them uh get in here and get these get these get these numbers. But but but but also I th I think it was important for her to do that back then because it was it was a big it was a big thing that you can't you know like a carbon can't get nothing done and and at the and at the end of the day we was annoyed, but she get everybody was on the ass, she got back up, she made a giant heart, and them niggas disappeared, she got the job done.
SPEAKER_01That's true, that's true. Y'all talking all this shit, but I'm saving that ass at the end of the episode.
SPEAKER_02My face wet, but you dead.
SPEAKER_05In the manga, in the manga, but you know, a lot of and it's funny, you know, thinking about the crybaby, so to speak. The crybaby in a lot of different animes are the most dangerous motherfuckers, like even in Deep Slayer, like the guy who um who wise, he'll fuck up everybody, and he's just like sobbing all the time. So it's just very interesting that don't sleep on the crybabies.
SPEAKER_02Oh, yeah, even in Hunter Hunter when gone, like so lost his shit.
SPEAKER_11Uh I I I think I think if people pay attention, they'll realize the cry babies are often the dangerous ones, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Because uh often the crystals, yes, are about to break. The tears are the barrier. Right, right. Either either they break or they break something. Like either you get this emotion or you get something way more violent. You need to pick one.
SPEAKER_03So I have another question regarding differences between the older 80s 90s Sailor Moon and the current one. I think one of I think it might have been Sayune who brought up the points about, oh, actually it was Kazu who brought up the point about uh what for Shoujo in the 80s and 90s, what will get the you know young Japanese girls to read the manga or to watch the show when it eventually came out on TV? So the question is do you feel like the current Sailor Moon, Crystal Eternal, if it was released back then, would it have attracted the same audience, a larger audience, or a smaller audience? And also, would we have been drawn to it if the current Sailor Moon products was given to us back then in the Toonami and before Tsunami days?
SPEAKER_02Can you say that one more time?
SPEAKER_03Wow, that was a very long question.
SPEAKER_05Oh so pretty much to shorten it up, between Crystal Eternal and the old school Sailor Moon, will we have been drawn to Crystal Eternal back then how it is now versus the older one?
SPEAKER_04I say yes, well I say yes because well no, I don't know if that's valid because like the artwork now and the artwork back then, like I'm a visual person, so the artwork back then, I mean, it was like it was like any other, you know, anime. Like it's that normal, that's how they normally look. But looking at like now, like eternal, like I think eternal is beautiful, the colors, the you know, the lighting, like how they how they, you know, uh effervescence, like everything in the whole everything is like it's fucking gorgeous with to look at um in general. And um I think for for young girls, they could easily gravitate to something like this. Like, I mean, there's fucking the unicorn in the junk.
SPEAKER_02Like I agree with Miss Gittles.
SPEAKER_06I think that if you know, but there was a unicorn back then though, because Hugh was Pegasus for received it well.
SPEAKER_02Um, I think I agree with everything Miss Goodles just said, like it was if if it regardless of whether it looked the same, I think if the story was told back then the way it was now, I think that you know, people would latch onto it if the same, if not more. Because the story, the way the story was told more recently with like Crystaline Eternal, like we got um we got a lot more straightforward storytelling. Um, but still managed it still managed to keep a lot of those really lovable nuances without dragging them out to make them like episode long arcs rather than, you know, uh yeah, making them episode long arcs. And we got to like, keep the understanding of the characters we had. We got to see them interact. We got to see them, you know, battle together and struggle together and go through their own personal problems while simultaneously coming together to solve individual problems through you know the power friendship for all intents and purposes. Yeah, I think I think it would have been I think it would have been received the same if not better or more. And a lot of people would have latched onto it more than than now. Because now we have you know nostalgia fuel fueling a lot of you know the the love for Sailor Moon, which isn't a bad thing per se. But as it like translated over to like the American market, I'll say I think it would have it would have hit a lot of audiences in a very like intense and relatable way. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And I think that just the the way in which they used especially the transformations, the attacks like that that that beautifulness that Miss um Skittles was talking about that that shit would have absolutely pulled people in because it it like it's undeniable. Like I don't in in this particular statement no shade to Dragon Ball Z or anything or like any of the other anime that kind of shown an anime that were really popular. So drag Dragon Ball Z. Make the streaks mad but like no no shade to it in this regard in particular but like it like Sailor Moon the beauty of Sailor Moon and the transformations and the attacks and the the way in which the characters came together was it like it had no rival. And I think it has more rivals now but there's still like but only insofar as a lot of the rivals that it has draw upon it from like the experience and the the the um the experience it created and the uh the culture it developed in doing so.
SPEAKER_00Um I'm gonna actually disagree with both of y'all in this one and that's just surely because well everything y'all said is correct. The difference being is that they wouldn't have released it. So there you know everybody gotta think back then it was a different time period to get popular you had to do some some different things and empowerment in women wasn't as pushed especially in that community in the Japanese community as much as it is pushed in the world now. So to would it have been accepted over here yes but it would have never made it and that's where the issue starts is that it would have never got to the point where it could be accepted which I think is a lot of the reason why they changed it as much as they did. It also a lot of the reason why the the anime was much bigger than the manga was. Because it wasn't like they really did all they did was redo the anime to match the manga a little bit more. It wasn't like they really you know they they changed the manga or anything like that. It was like all right now we go release re-release this to match the new manga. It's not like how kind of like how uh how Marvel does that with their comic books they they might switch some stuff up in the movie see it's popular and switch something up in the comic book stuff like that. It wasn't like that. It was this was the manga from jump but we had to switch it to make it more popularized towards the public that just watched it on TV. And now that everybody's kind of grown up and is more accepting of the some of the different viewpoints and thoughts that you might see in a manga that you won't necessarily see in an anime now it's like all right we can re-release this um but like I say I do I do agree with a lot of the thought process that was talking about with terms especially with the way that if everybody thinks about with the way that magical magical girl stuff went back then it was like you had to stay a little bit more happy go lucky and say of the moon was already a kind of towards the darker side anyway. So it was like so now it's more of an acceptance to talk about the you know the growing how a character can grow up especially coming through the high school age character can grow up and see some of the more you know dark things that you necessarily wouldn't see outside of like a gant or like or or fucking or I even uh uh Madoka Magica.
SPEAKER_05It's like Madoka Magic kind of like people a little bit more accepted of the magical girl being like oh shit this is real like like people can die oh fuck so like yeah it's it's uh so I I think and all Madoka Magica did was just take a lot of the things that were started by Sailor Moon and actually put it in an anime where the and where now you know the anime is like all right well since you know people will accept it of this let's go ahead and run this back and pretty much get it with the the the uh the Four Metal Octavist Brotherhood treatment you know like like re re-release it closer to the manga see how the public takes it and it it worked out well so I honestly think the way they went about it was a smart way um and I do agree if it made it over here it would have been accepted but the question is would they have let it come over here would it have been as big if it had been released in that same storytelling fashion I agree with uh shampoo bracelets that's why I was kind of like thinking I was like I don't know if we were to have crystal back then if it would be appreciated most I would I would say it wouldn't be in a it wouldn't be appreciated as much as it was back then. I think the creator was very smart to give it in doses and I think because you you know that that power femme you know nature she had to kind of like progress I love the progression and the progression led to I would say a more complex personality of the darker side but it took a while to get to that point. Whereas if you just kind of had crystal back then I don't think people would have appreciated it as as as now because you know we're all adults and we understand the complexities of of what people go through. So I I think it's a combination of both if you took the crystal aesthetic and put it in the 90s absolutely that should be fucking fire. But again no one had outside the technology to really bring the visual um the visual I would say expectations of now back then it just it just wasn't possible. You know everybody had that grainy 90s aesthetic like that Yuyu Haka show aesthetic um you know that Dragon Ball Z, that kind of like grainy 2D um nature aesthetic but if but I think I really like the progression of its time you know starting from yes Asagi was a crybaby you know she was crying a lot but then you know really starting to you know they progressed through the inner planet so to speak you had your I think I think the the um the the group was Sailor Moon Sailor Mercury Sailor Mars and then I think Sailor Venus I think Sailor Venus came before Jupiter if if I'm not mistaken I'm not sure I don't remember but Sailor Venus she sort of came first. No she came first before I think the group started to come together yeah but then again you know she didn't if they were to if they were to bring Sailor Neptune and Sailor Uranus like in the front end at the very beginning of Sailor Moon I don't think they would have appreciated it and in the audience would have really grasped onto that concept of queer love. So they it was Sailor Moon was long it it kind of had a progression so to speak it's that people can really appreciate the characters and appreciate the complexities and appreciate queer love before we even knew what that was as children. You know and and I loved it it was something different it was something new it was something that you know we always see hetero love all the time but it was like oh wow this is beautiful and and and it would we were so accepting because I think they did it in progression so to speak in the 90s whereas now we're like hey yes you know we're all about it. But like Mark said they they I think she was very smart with how she had to play it in that time so to speak whereas Crystal there she already knows her audience and you know everybody's very very accepting so now you know that's that's nothing to us whereas back then it probably would have been a huge problem. Because even before I think Tunami cut off Sailor Moon before they even went to uh Sailor Galaxia and I was pissed I remember I was so fucking mad but um I think you know they they before they even could even go further it was cut off on Tunami for what reasons I have no idea. But yes I agree with um Shamuru yeah they lost the contract I'm sorry they lost the contract tuna lost the contract with the animation company which is why the last season was technically never aired in America because if you watch it on Hulu it's still in it its original form it has never been dubbed that's very interesting i uh and I remember I was so mad was never dubbed not not to the last Sailor Moon was never dubbed yeah if you look on Hulu it's it's subbed only which is why the kids can't watch it because it's not season five you're talking about season five the last the last season like because even to this day I didn't actually see Sailor Galaxy I saw the art I only knew about her because of the art back then because I knew that in Japan you know I I guess she must have been in the manga but I don't even think the manga was out for me to see it in Barnes and Nobles or or like borders the Sailor Stars were even the Sailor Stars didn't even make it to America by that point did they no it didn't it didn't jump to America at all the the content stars or galaxia until years later yeah yeah I didn't even know that was a thing until like like one or two years ago hold on y'all Aurora is I can see all of her somebody somebody passed it to Aurora let Aurora go hold on because tag her in tag her in the jump at the bit go ahead she'd have raised her hand and everything.
SPEAKER_09Give us the history sis educate the masses and I don't want to um and I was like that's why I was like let me put my hand up because I'm trying not to like be rude and like cut anybody off.
SPEAKER_02No you got double that shit here.
SPEAKER_09I want to answer at least the initial starting question of would it have been a thing then no it would not have made it past the first season you have to with while although the they all had that 2D R grainy style Silmoon came across a lot lighter so you never when unless you knew it was some shit going on by the the scenery of what the show was giving because the clouds in the sky would always start to darken or the area that they were in like black dark purple sky um and so but for the majority of time the end the the the show was extremely light extremely bubbly extremely girly for what it's worth and remembering that there was a whole battle of women speaking at all and like the someone I can't remember whom I think the somebody brought up the fact of uh the the supergirl thing back in the 80s like 90s it was not strong it was not prevalent they had like what cutie honey and like two other ones that really set the started the whole idea of a power girl and the transformation thing um but they weren't for kids cutie honey is not for children um but they it was it wouldn't have made it past the first season with the graphic style that it has while it looks visually great and it would have maybe gotten some like accredited it would have been one of those it would have been considered animes from the 90s that deserved more like that deserved another season and deserved more time. It wouldn't have lasted it wouldn't have made it it wouldn't and it wouldn't have made it over there let alone make attempting to try to get it over here but also to remember that if it wasn't for Salem getting over here it wouldn't have gotten as big as it got it had its own little fandom over there but it wasn't that strong that heavy that prevalent until it got over here and then it became a full whole little thing. And that was only for the first season because tsunami fucked up the bag with well not say tsunami because tsunami didn't actually fuck up the bag thank you didn't have it after uh they didn't have the they stopped the show actually after the R season for the first time because they hadn't finished doing it and creating it on that end anime wise before they then had to then bring it over here and then dub it which that's where the ball got that's where the ball was dropped yes yes that was where the ball dropped but we're also not gonna talk it also was dropped on the the the sexuality conversation as well that became a problem because that was also part of the reason why the whole was uh sailors super arc and bringing in Neptune and Uranus was a whole little thing and they had to switch it to cousins.
SPEAKER_04Yeah because we over here and in southern uh other countries were not okay with the idea of it being two women and then being in a relationship yeah so it was really weird because I think another country they're I think they're like sisters or some shit like that I never saw that so yeah so so they went from so they went from being family to being family right and it is really weird I never saw that version I'm so glad I did it's not a drastic difference it's more so like the subtitling and the voice the dubbing I mean they did they cut out they cut out a couple of uh what'd you say mark so the voice act they kind of changed up a lot of voice acting right they they changed up a couple of things but in terms of art they kind of kept it the same they didn't like yeah it was weird because they didn't they changed up how the subtitling went they changed up how the voice acting went but they didn't change up how the actions went so if you had any type of real common sense any common thing why are they hugging like that why are they talking like that why are they clasping I love my cousin right and then they had the other characters questioning their relationship like why like house way how did they was introduced I was on a message board Mississippi and they told me they told me what was up I was like mm okay yeah they was literally holding hands and shit literally were no damn cousins they knew they were there was a whole episode where they was in like a a Valentine's Day dating competition it's for that familiar love it's for that familiar love representation Valentine's Day isn't isn't just for romantic love million love.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, to be alone all value going into the idea of um uh the stars arc and it being these men by day are turning into women to save the world we wouldn't have that shit like so it was it was just like they weren't supporting the content enough to want to be like oh let's go figure out how to fix this dub issue and the contracting and licensing running out right and so and like and stars was a stars is a great great season it's definitely watching on Hulu it is I'm literally rewatching one of my favorite scenes in all of Sailor Moon come from that that art right because they they special sexuality and gender like it was nobody's business bruh. They gave it to Yoris and Crystal and I'm curious how then they gave you another one in that final season crystal but I'm genuinely curious how they're gonna do it for stars and how they're gonna play into it. I'm excited but yeah it would not have made it it wouldn't have lasted past the first season and the audience it was geared towards was for women and at that time it was get the whole narrative was boys love cartoons and anime and if girls love it it's like my little pony or Barbie and it was just that simple boys young boys wouldn't have got hit to it we would have but young boys genuinely wouldn't have gotten into it and if they did they'd have been shunned for it exactly would not have gotten into it and you know their damn daddies and mamas wasn't about to let them be into it. So it's just like ah like this it would have been dead and it would have been sad. Now I could have seen them re-trying to rebring it back because of the current timeframe and making profit off of it. But yeah it wouldn't have it wouldn't have made it past season one and it probably wouldn't have got out of Japan.
SPEAKER_11Yeah I can uh I can I can uh that's kind of where I'm at too I think uh I I think it's one of those shows I don't think it would have taken as long as right now but I think that it if it can take it like it is uh it's one it's one of those things like it would have uh it would have it would have bounced off its initial demographic it was aimed at at a because you know your time slot was literally like these niggas are getting off of school let's put it in right here right and so like that it would I think it would have bounced off that initial demographic but uh I but but people you know people like go back and watch stuff and figure stuff out so I think it would have been uh I think they would have heard some buzz from you know so you know people watching with they little with their little cousin they little brother sister you know kid whatever they'd be like oh wait wait oh oh oh this oh this something happened oh did she die like you know so you know I think it would have found I think it would have found his audience but it would have took some years it would have taken some uh some fan uh feedback and uh oh and one more thing I meant to say earlier um the the idea the the the crybaby thing of Serena and all of that we it was so easy for us to digest as a kid because we didn't have the power to go back and watch it honestly we just had to watch it when it came on and call it a day and if you were you had enough money you was recording it on your VHS oof dated myself but yeah like that that's what they're I'm no shame that's about all of us because it can't be watchable yeah like you can buy the DVDs now because I had them all of them including crystals no no I'm saying do y'all rewatch it yeah like okay okay the old school version is crystal yeah no no no the kids have watched the old school version just because you know Maddie's seven and Ronnie's four but and they've watched crystal they digest it all like I mean I still rewatch so that wow I was like am I the only one that rewatches like I have rewatched it uh a few times from from the beginning to now so I'm talking about when it originally like I watched it for breakfast before work which yeah I'm talking about the initially when it came out and it started to do its run and like as a kid it felt like a journey because that was like 90 what 95 through 97 yeah it was 95 I remember so like yeah like it was so much longer so it it wasn't like we were able to catch we first of all I don't know about anybody else but I definitely didn't know when it was gonna be a rerun because I get mad when it was and if not and I just had to wait for the next episode to come out each week.
SPEAKER_09So I kind of just I I grew up along literally with it. So by the point that I was able to now go back and watch it I'm already I'm already going like teenager wanted to an adulthood this is lime wire and all those piracy sites that you purchase the DVDs had to sacrifice the family computer okay get the good work done live wire crosswire all those hair though that'd be a I remember when I got to a point where I was like just searching for all the old school shows like Dinosaur Sailor Moon Cousin Peter just trying to reboot just trying to get them on DVDs I was like man damn I feel old as fuck looking for all this like where is it at like why can't I find it I think I got more frustrated than anything and then I remember when she told me that crystal was out I binge washed it I don't think I got any sleep you did not that was like two seasons I do have a question though I have like a I guess a controversial question.
SPEAKER_05Isn't it harder to oh no what you what you won't no like I'm not trying to bring no smoke but it's just it's an honest question. Is it harder to watch Sailor Moon now as adults we watch it for nostalgic reasons but because we're so used to watching things now it's it was it was hard for me to watch it it was it was hard and it was I think because I'm so used to the shit that I watch now and because it's so graphic and because it's so dark watching Sailor Moon I I would feel like a fraud if I didn't watch Sailor Moon because I love Sailor Moon so much and I wanted to like you know pay homage to it. Watching watching it watching it on Netflix was fucking hard like I think it took me maybe two and a half days to watch it just to watch the one movie. And I'm like Are you talking about Crystal or are you talking about like crystal crystal crystal came out last year right? The one that came out two years ago like the last two movies so to no no um not not crystal eternal that just came out I think on Netflix I was Eternal was very hard for me to fucking watch. And I don't know why it was hard to watch. I just couldn't enjoy it. I think what it was, I love the aesthetics and I love how the art was beautiful, but I couldn't put myself back to when I was a kid. And I and I thought it was weird. I didn't know if if I was detached emotionally because I I was, I guess I'm I'm broken from what I'm watching now. You know, I would say that I'm not I'm not as innocent. You've gone I would say so. When I watch, yeah, so it was for everyone.
SPEAKER_04That's understandable. Yeah.
SPEAKER_09It is, it is.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I would I wouldn't say like it was like hard. I know it's different for me personally because like just given like the breadth of not just experiences I had and different anime that I've gone through, but just the way that I observe storytelling, um, and have like gone into like this very critical relationship with understanding narrative and characters and kind of the interplay between um different like themes and motifs and all those things that come into play with like in a story. Like I have a more dis not a more uh discerning eye when it comes to those things. Like I hone in on some things a bit easier. So it changes my relationship to it insofar as like I know this is something I loved when I was little, and now that I'm older, I'm going through like a lot of different personal changes. There are a number of things that I can appreciate with a with a uh a lot more depth than I did before. So I find myself in more of like uh kind of analytic, uh analytic space when it came to like watching, rewatching, not even just eternal, but crystal and just kind of like certain degrees of representation, certain kinds of storytelling, the the the range of like problems on different scales, as well as how they relate to like the kind of like macrocosm issue that they're putting forth in the story itself, and how all of these things connect to not just Sailor Moon herself, but to the overall like um uh uh to like the overall just like universe that they built and the values that are like really woven into all of the different character arcs and you know, inevitably like the large battle that comes to head at the end. Like the it was always so interesting to me. Um, I guess we'll get to the like talking about in detail later, but so I'll kind of reserve that. But it was interesting to me watching Eternal and seeing all of the different scouts go through the different problems that they were having every time they were getting attacked, or like how their different insecurities or their different fears were really prominent in the story and telling telling like the story of who they were and where they had come from and where they're still trying to go, and reminding you that regardless of you know how we see these heroes or how we see these, you know, powerful like beings, they are still human. And I think that's the most like beautiful part about Sailor Moon for me is that regardless of which iteration we're talking about, the there was a subversion of what I think is often um put before the actual character, which is their heroism. Like I think that Sailor Moon as a show or as a as a as a um as an IP completely subverts the idea that being a hero comes before being a human. Like you all heroes are human, and they that can never be separated from them. Like the more the morality and the mortality of these characters and how they align, and the breadth of emotion that they have to go through in order to make the decisions that they do is what makes it so great and what makes it so personalized and impactful and relatable as a show.
SPEAKER_05I know, I know for me it might be a little bit different because uh the kids wanted to watch it, of course, because you know they've become Sailor Moon fans. So, but that's your fault. Well again is I would take ownership, damn it.
SPEAKER_02You said it like, well, you know, the kids are fans, you know, they've been uh sure. I mean no, they are like as soon as they popped out the womb, Sailor Moon was on the TV.
SPEAKER_03Yes, because they paid for Hulu, they paid for Netflix, they turned it on, they were sitting in the living room watching it. Yeah.
SPEAKER_05No, my mom had us have the surround sound in the basement with the comfy chairs, so we was like full movie theater effects down there. Um, so but I think even if we didn't have the kids, just because I'm such a huge Sailor Moon fan, I still would have watched it. Now, I do agree with the Black McCoy where in Eternal, I was so I don't want to say starstruck, but enamored with the way that they told backstories that you didn't see from the original. Like you got to see Sailor Mercury's mom, you got to see how Sailor Mars has these two deities protecting her. Like you always thought Sailor Venus had a little bit of insecurity, but you got to see the play on that and see how Artemis was really her strength. Like I loved how they expanded on the story this time. Like I really feel like even though it was probably in the manga for the people who didn't, we needed this to say, hey, thank you for this expansion, because you know, some of us just weren't gonna read it. Right. Um, I I can't say that it was hard, but I do love the visual effects and the art that was that is on Crystal and Eternal. I think that also gives it makes it appealing to the eye as well. Um, but again, for me, I know I'm I'm just a Sailor Moon fan, hard. This is me. You know, I agree. I agree. It was more, I think, in in listening to what the Black McCoy said about being having a critical eye. I think what bothered me the the most was Darian, Damien, I keep forgetting Tuxedo's name. But but I think what bothered me was like their relationship. I think as I've gotten older, I really don't like Serena and Darien's relationship. I think that's what made it hard for me because I was like, what the fuck is it why I can't rock with it like it as much as it I it was and again, I love the backstory of even the villains. I love the backstory of the Dark Moon Circus. I love how the villains even had a want and desire, you know, to kind of have a dream. Uh and I love the the insecurities that all the you say you empathize with who? I'm sorry. Yeah, I was able to empathize with the the villains as well, in a way, because they all everybody had a dream, you know, a dream. And that's something that you didn't get a chance to see was the backstory. You know, as kids, you just saw good was good and bad was bad, and that was it. And you know, I think that there was a great dynamic now that everybody has a backstory, you know, and why they are the way they are and what they want. And I really appreciated it. I think there what I could not fucking stand was the relationship between Tuxedo Mask and Uzagi. And it was just more so I was like, oh, just fucking tell her what the hell you're going through. Like, why is it taking so long? Like why that's what bothered. That's really what it was worse in the 90s.
SPEAKER_06I mean, okay, it was but again, that's how I was getting it was way worse.
SPEAKER_05But again, when I when we were children, we didn't really think about it. You know what I'm saying? We we we didn't really think about I would say the complexities of relationships. Yeah, it was like, oh, okay, that's a little annoying, but we just kept with it. As adults, it's like, no, this shit is fucking annoying as hell. And I think that's really what it is. But you we also you also gotta put yourself in the mindset, they're still kids, like we're okay.
SPEAKER_02But but that's I think that's okay, but that's like that's one of the primary problems, right? So, like when we I think that I I absolutely have a problem with Darien and Usagi's relationship as well, or Momochan and like um and like Usagi's relationship, like they one, the age difference is kind of egregious, but you know, I think that's like it's funny. I'm gonna leave that as like a cultural thing.
SPEAKER_03I'm gonna I'm gonna I'm gonna separate myself from he's 17 and she's no like no he was like under the origin under the under the original manga, he was written as a 17-year-old and she was written as a 14-year-old who turns 15 in a couple of months in the original one. Now, as an age, the age difference was difference because everybody's like, Oh, he's a university student, but like you just said, the age difference once per people in Japan go to university is a lot younger than it is over here. So when he was 17, he was going to university, but he was younger than a 21-year-old, 18-year-old who's over on this side. So their difference at the initial point during the the initial manga was about two and a half to three years, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Because of how because of how universities and like their high schools, but wasn't she still in like a wasn't she still in like middle school?
SPEAKER_02She was a 14-year-old going on 15. Right. Their their their high school isn't four years, yeah. The high school isn't as long as ours. Okay, yeah, they're right.
SPEAKER_04Which yeah, which is why they always they had they had different uniforms and yeah, different.
SPEAKER_03Okay, that's why everybody had a different uniform, is because they were in different middle school, high school, and then college or university, rather.
SPEAKER_02Okay, cool. I'm glad we cleared that up. Um, so I'll move on to my next my second point. But the part of the reason I didn't no, no, I'm I'm glad I'm glad I'm glad that that was a really like largely clear, large clarifying point that I needed for the entire context of their relationship that I never had before. So I'm really grateful for that. Um, but the thing that I did not like about their relationship the most was how patronizing it was and how evantalizing it was because zero communication, right? You could not even just that it has zero communication, but like you saw you saw characters around Usagi's age, like Sailor Mercury or Sailor's, like you saw all the other Sailor Scouts basically in her age range, like not even a whole like two years older than her, and still have the devices necessary to function as these, you know, for all intents and purposes, you know, very reasonable, mature-minded um like characters. But as soon as you put Usagi into the mix, she is now the most like infantile, like childish, and I mean not childish in this way, like childish in like the pejorative way.
SPEAKER_00I gotta, I gotta, I gotta laugh with that, actually. And I think the reason why is that if you look at every other character in that show in terms of Sailor Scouts, does anybody else notice that either their parents regardless of some traumatic shit like Mercury or they're just not there?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I was about to say the only one that came from the city. I'm gonna be significantly faster than the only person that had two parents in a household that like was Serena, and her mother babied the hell out of her.
SPEAKER_00Exactly. So it's like, and I think that was a lot of the reason why you saw the immaturity more so from Serena than you did from like like Ray was literally raised in a temple, like and she and she knew she had to be the next temple, uh uh next mate shrine maiden.
SPEAKER_03No, she is a shrine maiden, she had to be the next leader of the temple.
SPEAKER_00It wasn't even so much she knew she had to be the next leader of the temple that she knew her actual father didn't want it.
SPEAKER_03Also true, but I didn't want to go there.
SPEAKER_02And I I I I understand, I understand that entirely. Like, I'm not discounting like those kind of like main differences. I guess from a narrative or like writing standpoint, I don't see that as a valid reason to write Seren or Usagi in the way that they did, because there's an there is there are completely and totally like um I'll say respectful or even uh I'll just say respectful, respectful ways to write a character like Usagi, who hasn't necessarily gone through a lot, who hasn't had to deal with a lot of different things, but still not make her act like basically like a three-year-old.
SPEAKER_04Whenever she's gonna be like, I think it's comical. I think it's comical.
SPEAKER_02I don't mind it being comical, but like it's like it was like it was comical to the point where okay, the joke's running on too long and it's become a little bit too serious, and it's become like a character trait that's undesirable for me personally. And then when you put that in when you put that in conjunction with like tuxedo mask, it looks really, it makes her look really, really bad. Like it makes her look like she is completely and totally inept as a person. Um, it makes her look incompetent and it makes her look like she has no way of actually not even necessarily being able to take care of herself, being able to function on her own in a healthy way. And I like, and I think that was my largest problem with the relationship. It made her look like an unhealthy person. And I think there's nothing wrong with looking like an unhealthy person if there's like a degree of um evolution in that, right? There's some like degree of growth when it comes to her um being a person, right? But in that regard, she it we don't I don't I don't think we see a lot of growth from her as a person in that regard because this relationship with Darien is always so codependent and it's always so messy to me.
SPEAKER_00Well, that was that was a two-way street, too, because it was communication issues, yeah.
SPEAKER_05But she also literally it's not like they're having a normal relationship, they're having a relationship while trying to save the world on numerous.
SPEAKER_02I'm not saying I'm not trying to blame Serena for the character that she was. I just I'm I'm I'm I guess if I'm trying to point a finger of blame, I'm pointing it like at the at the writer of the character or whoever was controlling how the character was portrayed in that way.
SPEAKER_09Um but sure, but like that's but I still that's still going back to more so the anime version than the manga itself.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah, yeah. And I I can't completely because I I didn't notice the manga.
SPEAKER_09That's why I can't answer this question because baby, there is so much watching this back now.
SPEAKER_02Right. It's almost like don't you dare. No, wait, no, we're like we're like we got the sailor manga, we're like, read nigga, read.
SPEAKER_09There's a you know, the Japanese original, then there's the Japanese English dub version where Serena's called Yusagi in English, and then there's the American dub one where it's Serena.
SPEAKER_01Serena's called Serena, yeah.
SPEAKER_09And so watching going back and watching all of them, they did, they they they they oh my god, they did not need as many fucking episodes as they did.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, that's what I've heard that it was so much filler that we were so much fucking filler.
SPEAKER_02I mean, a lot wasn't like that America's fault though.
SPEAKER_09This is how you know they started figuring it out. By the time they got to season S. Because they they start they tested out, so they weren't giving everything they didn't give everybody good character backgrounds in that first season. No, no, no, they didn't even give the original, they they fucked up the storyline to begin with, but they didn't give them any background. If you notice when we get to R, this is the anime version. The ver the very first thing they do is do the whole Alan and Ann storyline. Those two aliens that lived on the storyline in, and this is the first time we're experiencing what it looks like to get a backstory of and we're if you notice, we were following them more than we were following the scouts. They don't remember what happened, all that shit out the barrel. And when you got to S and Super S, they figured it out because there was no more filler episodes, like the episodes mattered, and then we got even more backstories on the scouts themselves in a way that we didn't have in the beginning. It I don't know, I don't let me know. I know we know who wrote it. I don't know who was at the table for the animation version of it. That's what I don't know who was all at the table because so unnecessary.
SPEAKER_05And you figure probably the creator at the time, because she is a woman, probably didn't have that much of a voice or much control over what she wanted to show. So now they probably are like, okay, let's follow the manga. She has more control over what's coming out.
SPEAKER_09Exactly.
SPEAKER_04So my reason why I was gonna say that I enjoy re re-watching it is one, even though the first season was like it was a it was a mess, but that that's what made it, that's what makes it like rewatchable for me because it's hilarious. Like it like back then as a child, like you're watching this and and and you and as an adult looking at all the the nuances and all the things that were said and things like that, it's like damn, like technically I probably shouldn't have been watching it because it was it was literally like like shitting on women at on at every point. Every every way to exploit a a woman or a young child or a girl, um, these villains reach for it and then they talk shit to the scouts. And like so, rewatching it is is yes, the the nostalgia is there, but that's what made it rewatchable for me because it's just like, yo, this shit is fucking funny. This shit is fucking hilarious. The the whole first season is hilarious. It it had nothing to do with nothing, seemingly, because the way, like you said, there's no real backstory to any of the scouts, like they just show up on scene, uh, you know, like and you're like, wait a minute, like now we got a whole group of scouts. Like, who was going on?
SPEAKER_09So like a drop of background, backdrop or background on the episode that they got introduced, yeah.
SPEAKER_04And then he left you along yes, uh a tiny droplet.
SPEAKER_03Mercury is smart, right? Ray lives in a stride. Uranus is a race car driver.
SPEAKER_04Jupiter got kicked out of school for fighting. So yeah, it's it's literally all we knew about these things. And and like you said, it wasn't until like us and um like where we started to see, you know, what what the fuck was actually going on in the background. Like, okay, here we go. Backstory, backstory, I'm here for it. And and that's I mean, the the the progression over the years um is what makes it rewatchable for me. Also, I don't know, I just like you know, I I don't I don't even do like shojo for real. Like, like if you try to get me to sit down and watch a magical girl shit right now, I'd be like, hell no.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, I'm watching that, Miss Gil. Why Mark's not getting you to watch uh Madoka Magica and surprising because Madoka Magica is amazing.
SPEAKER_02I love Madoka Magica, like it's it's really good, but like I will admit, like, even because I remember Suchi like ended up accidentally watched like a uh what a spinoff series of Madoka, and it's and like Madoka starts really slow, but like once it picks up, you're like, oh shit. Like Channy B can tell you, like Madoka Magica gets really fucked up really quickly, like once it starts.
SPEAKER_03I thought Lolo was about to say something.
SPEAKER_02I yeah, I I do still think that it's it's it's watchable. I I do watch it for nostalgia purposes, but I I I do agree that the the fillers can get a little uh extra. Um you can tell it's a filler episode if the villain is modeled after a kitchen appliance. Like this there's one one up one up, like you'll you'll turn on an episode and it'll be like, why why the why are the girls fighting uh fruit forces? Like like what why are they fighting an electric knife? What what's what's what's going on?
SPEAKER_03Hey, hey, they went to the eatery and and they and and the guy was upset and the electric knife didn't work. Okay, he was upset.
SPEAKER_02Well, that one episode where they went to the wrong side of Japan and had to fight a pair of Timbs, like yeah, and and the the the backup, like the the big balls was like uh they had to fight a pair of uh Balenciaga's, yeah, the ones that look like socks, it was a bad picture, yeah. That was it's not even a saga for me. That's how that's how it always was.
SPEAKER_11Like I was I would tune in and I would, you know, and like and just like you said, it would be like uh a you know, a monster golfing club, and I'm like, okay, we're still in monster of the week mode. Monster of the week. So yeah, this yeah, I'm gonna go tune in when y'all when y'all giving me some.
SPEAKER_02Get your ass together. It was given like Power Rangers rapping pumpkin episode.
SPEAKER_03Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. We're not doing that. We won't. No, we won't. Don't do it. You know, I'll I'll I'll I'll crack open that can. Don't do it.
SPEAKER_02But no, like this this lady got a whole wheel, a whole like car wheel where her coochie's supposed to be. Ah, that's my favorite. That's one of the things that one was hilarious.
SPEAKER_03But uh, I I was gonna say, based off of what Sayone said earlier, like one of the first things and the Black McCoy kind of chimed in on it, which was she said, you know, as she got into kind of what anime, as she learned the type of anime watcher that she is, and you know, things are a little bit more gory, more avant-garde, more um deadly, if you will. Sexual. Wow, I wasn't going there, but sure. Um, what type of anime she liked to watch, you know, and she, you know, then you go back and watch Sailor Moon from back in the past, you're like, uh, this isn't what I'm this isn't my my new flavor. And for me, uh that makes me think that um, excuse me. Uh that makes me think that for each and every person, you know, your your catalog of anime does change. Your your the things that you may watch does evolve. And the reason why I would say, you know, maybe Damo uh has an easier ability in watching uh Um, Sailor Moon is because that's her stand. That's the anime that not only brought her to the game, but it's the one that she loves the most. So even if she prefers to watch, you know, more aggressive anime or more violent-oriented anime or more story-oriented anime, Sailor Moon is the what brought her to the brought her to the dance. Same thing with Miss Skittles. Sailor Moon was one of the anime that brought her to the dance. So she's able to, you know, go back and watch it easily. But it, you know, even though her her taste may have been. Because like she said, if she if you bring a magic magical girl anime to her, she's gonna say I say the nay. But Sailor Moon still should be able to watch because it's one of the anime that brought her to the dance. Um, like for myself, I like uh as the Black Record was saying, personally for uh Madoga Magica, I tried it, I really did, and it wasn't for me. But there are other magical girl anime that I've watched and enjoyed. Uh like I really I mean, I guess you would call Mac Cross Delta a magical girl anime, kind of, but they use singing to you know, uh uh start their abilities and then they shoot guns and arrows and swords. That's that that but I'm not gonna go into that. That's not what this is about. But anyway, uh that was who was on the car uh at at BlurCon. That's that's why I kind of my God. Um but you know, it I think it's based off of yes, your your growth as an anime watcher, your growth as your the content that you enjoy. You can still love it if it's you know one of your core faves. Um, but you know, I I I what I'm saying is I agree with what Sayone said about the fact that, you know, she might have liked it in the past, but because her her her likes, her loves for anime and aesthetic might have changed, Sailor Moon kind of, I don't say fell to the wayside, but just is no longer as attractive as it could have been or has been in the past.
SPEAKER_02I think something that you're something really important that you're touching on is just that the diversification of the content itself. Like we only have one primary magical girl anime, but now we have so many like of different intersecting genres that there's like if you don't like Madoka Magica, there's probably like some other one that's you know, like I remember I forgot the name of it. There's one that's uh it's a spoof of the magical girl anime where like the magical girl actually turns into the super buff dude when she transforms. Oh yeah, and then on the um what else was it? Mew Mew Power, yeah, that and that like and that one's coming back, like they're making a new version. Oh, yeah, it's how that does.
SPEAKER_09I actually like Mew Me Mew.
SPEAKER_02But yeah, like we like like there was a limit of how many kind how many different kinds of anime that you know we had to watch at the time when it came to certain genres. Like there are plenty of space odyssey in like robot anime, but when it came to magical girl anime, like there weren't like there were few and far between. And even when it came to over here, over here, yes, yes. In the American market, there was a there was a very there was like a large limitation of that. But you know, as time went on, we more anime came out. We we just collectively were exposed to a lot more in a lot of different genres and themes and tropes and stuff like that. You know, we we it's not like it's not to not to say that we outgrew it, but like we were able to expand ourselves. And so where we started, while it has a nostalgia to it, like it it could be further, it could be further away from our taste that we have now.
SPEAKER_05I think that's exactly what it is. And you know, it it's it's kind of it's hard saying that it was a little bit difficult. And I love Sailor Moon. Sailor Moon was actually one of the animes that put me on the map with anime. Um, it was one of my core values, like watching inside out. What are your core values in life? So Sailor Moon was it. Um, I was obsessed, obsessed with Sailor Moon. Like I wrote a letter to Toonami when it stopped airing saying, How could you do this? And I was a 10 year school. Like, how could you do this? You know, I love this so much. I rush off the school bus to watch Sailor Moon. How could you cut it off? And that was right before it went into the stars. And so I was like, I was so pumped. And you know, and I kept that same energy. I think when I was 18 on Facebook, I made like a Toonami slash Sailor Moon support fan group. Like I was always obsessed with Sailor Moon.
SPEAKER_06But I think what it is, and when Crystal came out, I loved it.
SPEAKER_05I was obsessed with it. I'm like, oh, I'm so excited. Because I think what it is, I'm more catered to I want to watch episodes, I don't want to watch everything in a movie. I think that's why for me, even though it did, you know, show a lot of the background, like I didn't even know that Sailor Mercury's mom was a doctor, and that was like fascinating to me. Um, you know, and again, you don't see though, you didn't see that backstory in Sailor Moon. But I think what it was is at all, there was no backstory. Um you just you just took it and you just roll with it, and they're like, okay, all right, cool. And that's how it was. But I think what it, you know, it's a combination of me not liking certain things at all, and then it bothering me. I think that's what it was. And then to the point that I couldn't get past it because it was an annoyance, and I'm like, I'm not used to those annoyances anymore because of the genre that I watch. I look I'm more keen to pick up on things like the Black McCoy said, I'm more keen to look at, you know, even how like the sound of the voice acting or you know, certain things or characters. So I I because I really didn't like um Usagi and Darien's relationship and how annoying it is, even yes, if there are children, that's great. But that's why I don't watch animes with high school kids anymore. And I think that's what it is because I've outgrown that aesthetic, so to speak, watching like I don't really watch like high schoolers. I watch more like people that are in like college, if I if it is an anime or grown people or adults, if I'm watching anime now. And there's there's no there's no vault to it. I think we just all had our our age, so to speak. And I'll always support and love and watch Sailor Moon. It's just different now. I'm not obsessed with it now. I love it, I love it, but the obsession has kind of dissipated and more to is always near and dear to my heart. So I think that's really what it was. And of course, the Sailor Moon fandom is so so like tight. So I was like, I want to say something. And it's not a it's very unpopular opinion. Um, but you know, I still love it and I still rock with it and I still support it. I think my shift from me loving Sailor Moon as a kid, I like the actual character Sailor Moon has shifted more to the darker characters. Like I loved Mistress Nine, I love the Black Lady, I love um, you know, the Starlight and Pluto and Saturn. I think because I'm so dark now, I gravitated to those characters more. The more mature, the more the older, the ones who are sure, you know, had sure of themselves, but were darker. I love if if it had just a show based off of the outer ones, I'm all with it. Like I don't give a fuck. I'm watching it. I think that's really yeah, I think that's where I am mentally. That was what was bothering me, and I couldn't, I couldn't grasp onto it. But it wasn't until Suchi and um the Black McCoy gave more, I would say more depth to my thought. That's really what it is. Speaking of of shows, since you just said you know, you would like to see one with the outer guardians. Is anyone curious to see if they're gonna continue writing to do the chibi and the Amazonian quartet? I forgot.
SPEAKER_09I don't know because if the creator doesn't, then I'm gonna say no.
SPEAKER_06I feel like I would like to see it, but I want to see it now.
SPEAKER_03I want to see it such a cliffhanger at the end of the second movie. I feel like you you or just not the end of the second movie, but the the end of all of those series and seasons to to create such a cliffhanger to say, Oh, in the future, and then you're you're talking like every single time you see Chibi Moon, she's thinking about the future. Think about when she could become a Sailor Scout, think about when she will be the center of attention instead of Usagi. They like all this build-up for I mean, it's almost like you might as well just do a Boroto of Chibi Moon. Like Naruto's over, let's move on to Boroto. No, I kind of agree. Wait, I kind of agree in that regard. It can't be trash.
SPEAKER_02We are not talking about Borito. I need to have it. I heard it. There's not we're not doing it today.
SPEAKER_04Barely some shit. Okay, so about you know what?
SPEAKER_03We're gonna do this another time. That would be unfair.
SPEAKER_01What was you about to say?
SPEAKER_09Oh, um no, that the uh I want I want so genuinely for them to because I'm I'm not gonna jump for the whole Chibi Moon era. I'm not I'm not against it, it'd be cute, but I'm not sure it how if I'm gonna like who she grows up to be because I don't give a shit. I put a bitch with the irritating.
SPEAKER_05I liked her more as black lady, I ain't gonna lie.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, she was like that lady, no shame. But he was that everybody did.
SPEAKER_05Oh my god, black lady, Lord.
SPEAKER_04Oh my god, can we talk about can we talk about that episode where where that little boy like uh like fucking violated her? Like you know what I was thinking about that when we were talking about that because one time, it was one time I felt bad for this child. It was that moment.
SPEAKER_01I said, Oh no, sir.
SPEAKER_07I was confused. I felt bad for them right now the way they did. She kissed her daddy, she kissed her daddy.
SPEAKER_04Yes, you're right.
SPEAKER_03That was the that was the that was the reason. I was like, girl, why are you listening after your mother?
SPEAKER_02Stop, stop, uh I incest, stop, I incest.
SPEAKER_04That's like y'all said, they tried to write um Uranus and Neptune as cousin, like the fact she kissed her dad was like some I was like, okay, that's wild, but these niggas do whatever. So but the way this little boy had his little dingling out, uh draws and hands off and everything. Like I was wow.
SPEAKER_05What what episode was that? Because I think I missed that. I'm trying to figure out what was like right when like in the beginning, I want to say it's like the beginning of super. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I think it's like in the beginning of Super. It was like a it was like a couple episodes in.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, she came back. Yeah, she had just come back, and and she was out and about in the little park or whatever, and I and this little boy came up. When I say he had all the moves, he rolled up shaking his little behind, and then got snatched up because he was yes, because his his mom came up behind him and snatched his ass up, but even still, the whole shit was wild because I was like, yo, the things that you can't, you know, you don't remember.
SPEAKER_01Right.
SPEAKER_09As a child over your head as a kid, yes, but no, I wanna I wanna I want honestly, I want Queen Serenity's story art.
SPEAKER_01Oh no, that backstory.
SPEAKER_09I want the Outer Scouts, I want their story art because I need to know and they touch on it-ish, like they give like they throw little things out there, but they don't really give you their full backstory. Right. I genuinely want theirs because it's like, well, we got the we got we know the Indian Scouts backstory.
SPEAKER_03I I kind of want like stories on the individual houses on each of the planets. Because like at the end of that movie, when they were like the house of Kronos, I was like, wait a minute, bitch. Y'all got houses?
SPEAKER_07That's right.
SPEAKER_03Like, I want I knew y'all were princesses.
SPEAKER_09I kind of I want to know a little bit about your past lives a little bit, especially since y'all showed us that they were being groomed from children, exactly from children, right?
SPEAKER_05Yeah, like I need a I need a backstory now.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, princess.
SPEAKER_05They should have a mythology. Um, if they did a if they if they did a mythology of Sailor Moon, that would be fucking outstanding. I think that's what it is. Like different taking the moon, like you know, taking a different um perspective on things because you know, I I I love a lot of people love mythology, you know, and then different types of mythology, and you have so much content to build on that.
SPEAKER_02Like so much content that we're still getting like we still get introduced to new scouts all the time, yeah. All the time, yes, like you can easily have a whole kingdom take a black hole Sailor Scout.
SPEAKER_05Can you imagine a black hole? What the fuck? Like a supernova, like I knew that was gonna happen.
SPEAKER_08Pineapples.
SPEAKER_05Oh my god.
SPEAKER_08Oh my god, you got you got pineapples.
SPEAKER_05There could be like there's a whole there's a whole mythology. Like, I'm actually I'm still I'm still confused on like okay, you have the moon castle. I forgot, like, you know, all right. So you have Sailor Moon. Sailor Moon is a reincarnation of her mom, but then there's like different degrees, it's like three generations. There's like the Sailor Moon, is that Queen Serenity who has white hair, and then there's someone else after, like a prelude to her. And I always get confused on who the fuck these women are that look just like Sailor Moon, but it's like Sailor Moon is like the granddaughter, so to speak, or the great granddaughter, and there's two generations before her, and I I always get that confused. Like there's Queen Serenity, and then there's someone before Queen Serenity, isn't there?
SPEAKER_03And I'm like Neo Queen Serenity.
SPEAKER_05Who is like who is she? That is I couldn't, they didn't explain to me before they cut off on tsunami who she is. Like, what's the difference of queen neo queen? Is she you know the the final form of queen serenity? That is what I never understood, and then princess serenity.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I'm not gonna lie, like I was extremely confused uh for a while, and I even now like I'm still not entirely clear. Like, I might need to go read a wiki page because like I just know that there's queen serenity, queen serenity, there's chibi moon. Like, I just you didn't want to call nobody else, so you like small lady. Oh I always knew Neo Queen was Neo Queen.
SPEAKER_11That's that's Sailor Moon.
SPEAKER_05So Neo Queen is Sailor Moon, yeah. In the in her final form, in the future, in the future, yeah.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, she's new of the city. So when she becomes queen, she's neo queen surrounding. Yes, yeah.
SPEAKER_04So she's she is the queen of Crystal Tokyo, and she is married to a Dymion, who is the nigga who was going back and talking to Darien.
SPEAKER_06He was the Prince of Earth, and he's the Prince of Earth, right?
SPEAKER_03So Prince of Demion, King of Demion, rather.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, so he was he was the one reaching back talking to to to Darian in the in yeah, in the present time.
SPEAKER_05Okay, and Helios Helios is the is like the guardian, uh, so to speak.
SPEAKER_03That's protecting the what's the name of the the palace on on Earth? What's it called again?
SPEAKER_06Uh Elysium. Elysium. Elysium.
SPEAKER_03Okay, this is a weird name for like a palace that's supposed to be like protecting. I mean, allegedly it's in the center of the earth or somewhere near there.
SPEAKER_02I mean, Elysium is so it's Elysian, not um Elysium.
SPEAKER_01I'm sorry, Elysium. That's what I'm saying.
SPEAKER_03I mean, the black McCoy said that we were watching the first the movie. It's like that's a that's a weird name for a palace.
SPEAKER_02I was like, I was like, that's a very dark place in some other some other mythologies.
SPEAKER_06I thought Elysium, Elysium is the happy Greek mythology. Isn't that where all of the happy place that's the winner?
SPEAKER_02Isn't it where dead people go?
SPEAKER_06Elysium is heaven.
SPEAKER_02So like the good place where dead people go, the people who did the good shit is the the Elysium field. Yeah, I guess I mean I mean, you know, I I I guess because I I immediately was like dead people, I was like, I mean, like life and death is relative to these times. Also true.
SPEAKER_03All right, so to wrap up, can we well? First off, before I wrap up the conversation, I do want to make a comment, a correction on what I said uh about the anime that I was talking about before that was on the cards of BlurCon. That wasn't Macros Delta, that was Simple Gear. Both of them I love, but Simple Gear is the one that you're singing to create armor. And it's it's it's if you're listening to this, Simple Gear, Macross Delta, go watch both if you especially if you love like singing and music, um, and they have like mythology mixed in. Um, and the pe the the two uh characters that were on the car were Subasa and Maria, who have like the power of Gangnir and um ah crap, I forgot that quick. Gangnir, Xiatsu. But it's fine. I'll remember and then I'll say it later. But yeah, to wrap up the episode, um, we wanted to uh make sure that we kind of summed up exactly how what what uh I think the last question was what are we expecting that's coming next? I mean, we kind of already said we hope it's this, we hope it's that, but based off what we've seen, what do we know or what we think is going to be the next? Is everybody eating right now? Like, I think everybody has like half their face off the screen eating. I mean, you was chewing earlier, don't you? I didn't say I wasn't.
SPEAKER_05I was thinking chews. I was about to send you a message.
SPEAKER_02I would never. I wasn't all I wasn't off screen. I was I was middle camera.
SPEAKER_05I kind of make sure I kept my eyeball.
SPEAKER_02I was like, I'm gonna surprise Zoom ain't put me in the middle of the SMR spectrum.
SPEAKER_00Real quick, um, since I so rarely get to do this, uh there's a particular since we're on the topic of magical girl uh animes or well, magical girl content in general, there's one in particular that's incredibly different than most. And I would like to talk about just bring it up, recommend it, give it a shot, read it.
SPEAKER_01Sure.
SPEAKER_00Let me know what you think. It's Magical Girl Apocalypse.
SPEAKER_01Oh my gosh.
SPEAKER_00Give it a shot. It's a horror magical girl mix. It's uh actually darker than Bedoka Magical.
SPEAKER_05Say on that.
SPEAKER_02Awesome, awesome. Oh, and to begin back. I'm sorry, keep going.
SPEAKER_00No, I was gonna say uh just get just everybody just give it a shot, see what you think of it. If you want something different, but still want to, you know, dabble in the magical girl field. I will look it up now. Awesome. I wanted to bug um go ahead.
SPEAKER_05Oh no, I just wanted to say to um Mark, like you you introduced Madoka Magic to me, I believe. So if you introduce something else, nigga, I know what's fire.
SPEAKER_00So I'm already fighting the good thing about uh magical apocalypse that it's actually already complete. So it's like it's been completed for about a year or two, I think. I read it about uh year about two and a half years ago, but um very yeah, just give it a shot. I'm not gonna spoil anything, but it's different. Give it a shot.
SPEAKER_06I'll let you know in two days. Uh all right, Lolo.
SPEAKER_02Also, I I just want I just wanted to plug uh an RB artist really quick. Um, uh her name is Leia, and she did a whole like song and music video um called Sailor Moon. It's like in it's like it pays homage to Sailor Moon. Her name is Leia L-A-Y-A. It's like um, yes, this black black girl who did like a whole like vintage like Sailor Moon music video. It's it like and it's like a it's it like you you hear you hear like the like some of like the um same sound effects, but it's like RB version. Yeah, it's called Leia and Sailor Moon. It's it's fucking dope. I actually like a lot of it. I wasn't about to have a featuring. Yeah, I'll s I'll send um I'll I'll I'll send Black McCoy the link right now.
SPEAKER_03So also I remember the name of the other weapon is Totsuka no Surugi. That's what Tsubasa uses. Sorry, all right. So to uh oh one one more thing. It's uh sure. Since everybody's plugging stuff, go ahead.
SPEAKER_02I'm saying people were plugging things this morning and we're plugging things this afternoon.
SPEAKER_11Pineapple, I don't see so uh so it's it's so this is uh this is a pre this is a pre-Sailamon magical girl show that one of the few that actually did come to America. Um it's called uh magical princess minky momo. And if you want to see uh how badly they ripped this girl off both Sailor Moon and uh Car Captor, when I say these these ribbons, what are the the Star Scepter, the the uh you know I mean a lot of magic girls are from the 60s, yeah, but um, but a lot of the shit that uh that like a lot of niggas watched what she did and uh and ran and got and got popular for it. So I just want to shout my girl out, magic print prince, magical princess Mickey Momo. That was the American name. The Japanese names was huge, they called her something else, but also it also is uh it's oddly funny. I don't it's one of those is it's like almost one of those fairly eye-parent shit with like it's shit going on. The kids don't really know what's going on. They just like it's pretty colors, but then you like people that's kind of fucked up, but but yeah.
SPEAKER_02Okay, so before I go on, any other plugs.
SPEAKER_06I mean, I have one in my bedroom that has three tails on it, but I don't think that's can we see this?
SPEAKER_02I'll send you a picture later. Fighting bus. See bye moonlight. Wow. We're gonna go ahead and wrap up the episode.
SPEAKER_03So, uh, to wrap up the episode, I think we've learned a lot. Actually, I think all of us have learned a lot about say the moon that we might not have even known before. Uh, backstory, side stories, ages, uh, concepts, what we want for the future.
SPEAKER_02Uh cultural contexts.
SPEAKER_03Oh, very important. So I think maybe we should go like Sione and maybe write a letter to the writers and see and maybe some insight into what's gonna happen next. Not asking them to do anything specific, you know, other than you know, a whole anthology or mythology about the entire you know, concept of Sailor Moon. You know, not too much, it's a little bit of easier work, you know. Hire some writers, get some people some jobs, you know. Anyway, uh, so wrap up, uh, definitely want to thank each and every one of our panelists for being on this episode. And all of you who are listening to the sound of our voices, thank you for listening to the Sailor Moon episode. It's gonna take place during the month of August, it's gonna be phenomenal. Uh, we went to BlurCon and a couple of other places, and we're completely I mean, we we thought we were just gonna talk to like one person, maybe two, possibly three. We ended up getting like a whole best way to say it. We have a lot of artists who are excited to be on the our artist episode. So uh please stay tuned. Actually, it it there's so many. There's it's a two-part actually. Uh, so be prepared for those two episodes for um our black artists to see their works. Also, we'll be uh we'll be uh featuring them on our Instagram and Facebook. So if you're following us, you can definitely see some of their works and uh some of their pieces that they're they have up for sale. Also, um is today the last day, uh uh Black McCoy um for GERD clothing? Or was it is it yeah? Yeah, Gird Clothing. Though I thought it was a week. So GERD Clothing, matter of fact, I'll let Black McCoy do it.
SPEAKER_02Uh no, so GERD Clothing was having their pre-sale for it for 48 hours. Uh the last day is today. Um, I mean, by the time this is up, you know, it'll be over.
SPEAKER_03Damo just said that she's extended it for a week. Oh, she's extended it for a week. Oh, that's amazing.
SPEAKER_05I thought that's what she had, what you put in the chat that it was extended for a week.
SPEAKER_02Uh no. Uh I don't no, no, no. So what she what she said was that she will she's having pre-orders for her new line for the 48 hours, which ends today. So by the time this is up, you know, it won't be available anymore. But she's going to shut the store down and uh it will be back up on the 5th, which is Thursday. SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Absolutely. Yes. So we'll put that on our social so you can check that out as well. So uh, of course, as we always do, gonna give each and every one of our panelists the opportunity to say how you can reach them, starting with our guest. Uh Lolo, how can they reach you? SPEAKER_03We're gonna have a live at a brunch spot, and then you don't have to take back all of these words and say we we are gonna we we it will happen.
SPEAKER_02It will happen. It we it will get done one of these days. All right, that's it. Aurora.
