Welcome back to the Ballard Spectrum Podcast, where we are here with the episode that you've all been waiting. No, it's not true. You've been waiting for the season uh to come out, season two of this episode, Demon Slayer. Uh it's uh we we will we've been waiting, like uh art artistically, uh graphically, mangling. That was bad. Um, so we've been waiting for this anime to come back after we uh were uh were completely uh snatched uh by Moog and Train and the first season. Um, from the memes to the the gifts to all the reasons why we've been you know just fawning over this particular experience. We've been waiting for it to come back, and now uh we've been given some updates recently. Um, and we have a uh allegedly a date set, so we'll see what happens because you know people be changing things. Uh, but uh, and we also have a game coming out where this is this is trying to hit us with everything, so I'm excited. Uh, but so are our panelists. So I'm gonna give us our introductions, starting with myself, Suchy No Shogun. Uh uh looking like she's from Southern California. We have Miss Sayone Cosplay. Hello, uh, looking like she just drank a 40 from Southern California California. We have Ms. Skittles. Hello, everyone. Uh looking like they're drinking some gin and juice. We have some uh we have the black McCoy.
SPEAKER_00First of all, peasants, it's crown royal. Uh my crown royal. It's our crown royal.
SPEAKER_05Oh, here you go.
SPEAKER_01Um if anyone calls me a peasant, I just go in front of a trained guy.
SPEAKER_05Uh, and of course, we have uh uh the the kingdom, the palace, the empire of the muses, shampoo bracelets.
SPEAKER_00Well, yeah, always in unison. Y'all sound like niggas every time, and it's always in unison, always in unison. Like, I love the unified nigger dumb. That is like a level appeal every single time.
SPEAKER_03We left our roots, but our roots are still within us.
SPEAKER_01We did I love how Miss Skittles just put on her spectacles, like you know, she about to really throw some shit down. Like, let me let me educate y'all niggas real quick. So that's what she can't see. Oh I can't see a goddamn thing.
SPEAKER_05So I I'll pull a little bit of the veil open. So we we actually recorded this episode. Is that a KC joke? Uh wow. Uh I'm not doing that. Uh, so we actually recorded this episode a couple of weeks ago, and due to several versions of technical difficulties, uh, we were not able to uh fully put it out. But luckily, uh, this actually works in our favor. We have a bunch of new updates that we can add to this episode. Um, and our uh our professor of uh uh Kumitsino Yaiba, uh, which would be uh Professor Skittles, is here to inform us of all the things uh that she knows that we do not. Uh so I'm I'm going to definitely also got a cardigan on, y'all. She's got the cardigan, she's got the uh the spectacles, she is ready to go. Um Slime Cosplay has her notepad, she's ready to take notes.
SPEAKER_00Okay, she got her little doctoral student twists in.
SPEAKER_05Right. So we're gonna we're gonna hand it over to Miss Skittles, and of course, I have to ask, uh, what what first off, you know, uh you said on many episodes, uh, as well as uh we've seen in some of your cosplays, you have uh just fangirled over uh Demon Slayer in in every way, shape, or form. So um, as it pertains to what we've seen in this first season, as well as in Mugan train, what is your overall uh what is your overall Demon Slayer Demon Slayer Demon Slayer reaction?
SPEAKER_01I fucking love it. That's that's my overall reaction. So it's um uh so it's I I don't want to say it's been a while, but like since since Demon's Lair started, I feel like it had been a while since I saw Shonen that literally was just like yes, like I'm I'm here for this. Um, you know, like prior to that we had you know my hero come out and it was just like oh you know, cool new stuff. But this this anime visually, like um the storyline, just the character development, um, it just has it phenomenal all the way through for me. Um just watching the first season, like um well, I I was about to say, like I said, this is a new episode. So um uh in the beginning, um initially, like I was like, okay, you know, because it is it starts off I I don't want to say slow, the pacing is correct for for what's going on if if you're watching it as a whole, but in the beginning, I was definitely like, I don't know how I feel about this. It looks good, but I don't know.
SPEAKER_00Um, but like it's pretty or whatever, right?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I was like it's cute. But um as as the story went on and we got to know uh Tondro and um his and and his um crew and his family, his sister, like uh and I don't and I don't do animes with like feels and shit like that, but I definitely I definitely felt for for um for our protagonists. So I just all all all around enjoyed the first season. Um and uh taking it back to the specific episode that made me fall in love with Demon Slayer was episode 19, um, where he is fighting. Is it I I hate because I never say his name right.
SPEAKER_00Ryu, I think it's Rui. Rui, Ryu, R U.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, what in that the spider demons? He's fighting, he's fighting him, and like I said, I was for sure, I was like, bruh, we about to see the end, this boy about to die, it's all over. And then like that that whole connection between him and Nesco and the blood magic and the fire of his father and and the oh my god, fucking amazing. Fucking amazing, and you know, and you know how it's fucking amazing when when your fucking uh villain is like bruh, all I wanted is a family like that too. Fucking done, like, and just was like, I would, I wish I had a family like that too, dawg. Like, that's all I wanted. I I rocked with y'all. I don't even care that I got fucked up. I don't I rocked with y'all. I'm gonna still kill y'all.
SPEAKER_00But this is all I was trying to get.
SPEAKER_01Right, fucking emotional over getting your ass whipped, dog.
SPEAKER_00Can I say I I love that that was what about that? Is one of my favorite things about Tanju though? Like, this nigga will like be about to murder somebody in that instant. There's just a whole emotional appeal that just happens. It's like, oh, I'm about to kill you with malice, I'm gonna still kill you, but I'm gonna do it with mercy. Like, right. I understand.
SPEAKER_01Like, remember the one of the oh, she's supposed to be the mom, and then they were seeing the flashback of her and how she like literally was abused and she was like welcoming death at that point. Yeah, that was the one that was just so like, oh my god, I hope he was like, Oh, oh, I'm gonna kill you still, but I'm gonna put you out of your misery now.
SPEAKER_00You're welcome.
SPEAKER_01I'm gonna do it gently. I'm gonna lower the setting for you on the sword.
SPEAKER_05He never put the settings this head, but that's that's one of the things I think I appreciate uh as uh of Tanjiro as a protagonist, a shownen protagonist at that, because a lot of times you'll get in certain anime the the protagonist of the main character will hesitate from killing someone, even if they're a murderer, even if they have killed like a child in front of them, they'll hesitate in some way, shape, or form. But at the end of the day, and although at the beginning he did that, Tanjo eventually was like, I see your story, I see your background, I see why you're the way you are. But then at the end of the day, you're one of like top demons, which means you killed hundreds of people. You gotta go. Right. I'll I'll mourn you, but you gotta go. I and I appreciate that.
SPEAKER_00I think like it's weird because then I like to take it to what we're talking about prior to recording. Like, I think it's this like connection or under this like really um nuanced understanding or view that he has of like the body and the person. It's like it's not even that he can see the emotion there, but he can recognize those little those little gestures and the the way the body communicates itself to understand what's happening there. Because like it's not like he saw everything that we saw in that moment because Tanjiro can sniff out demons. He's not like psychic. We don't know, we don't know yet. Well, for all intents and purposes, Tanjiro is not psychic psychic enough to just like pick up on people's emotions like that. But he can, he know, like we know that he can smell his sense of smell allows him to find demons, and I think allows him to like really tune in to people, just generally speaking. Um so like he his ability to pick up on malice or to pick up on you know grace or like that moment that she had where she was just like, you know what, I will I'm ready to die because I'm tired of this.
SPEAKER_04Because if I fail, I'm ready. Right, because he was just like, Okay, you won't know.
SPEAKER_00Right. Because she like knew that like even if she even if she didn't kill him and she like failed and she went back, she was still gonna be killed. So she was always she was like always in fear for her life. And it was like that was like, but when she when he was about to literally murder her, she was like, he could, he's he was able to see the the the very physical reaction of her like her relief and her and her suffering, the acceptance, right? The acceptance, the suffering, and he was able to drop his own malice in his own body and move in a much gentler way. I think that's the coolest part about him that I see distinguished from other shonen protagonists, that he's so in tune with his own feelings and the the the stories and the feelings of others that he's able to recognize those those little things that put the the identity of that person together. And once he is even in those moments, like past the the like epic battle that occurs where he's fighting for his own life and he's found this pathway to victory, and he's like, I'm about to fuck you up, about to kill you because you're you're evil. And it's like, oh wait, you're not actually evil, you're just in pain. And I'm not only doing this for like the this mission that I dedicated myself to, but I'm also doing it to relieve you of that suffering. And so, like after he does it, there's always this like feeling of you, like, yeah, I hope you're at peace. I hope you're at like you're welcome.
SPEAKER_01And then again, with that episode where you saw the blood art, I think that episode is so iconic. Like, I think I said it when we recorded it the last time. Even if you haven't seen the whole anime, that moment or that scene you've seen somewhere, right? Like, like that that I that moment was so iconic with the the glowing blood and the the bond between brother and sister, like you've seen that, like yeah, definitely, definitely. I I I know people, I I think matter of fact, uh Suji, it didn't your sister see that particular episode, and that's what made you want to watch it. So, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_05So, I mean, I'm telling you, okay, so um, of course, that's uh uh uh uh Professor Skittles. Uh that was uh her uh synopsis of both the first season and uh the movie. Uh now from someone who might not have the full story but has seen a couple of clips, uh Miss Sayune cosplay. Um we we know that you've heard, of course, of Demon Slayer. You've seen some cosplays, you've seen some uh scenes and uh heard some things. We want to know what is your opinion uh of the anime uh as you've seen it so far, wherever you are.
SPEAKER_01I think the anime is visually spectacular. Um, it is cosplay worthy on all levels. I've it's very rare that I've seen an anime that you are able to cosplay any and all characters because everyone has their own individuality. The villains, I remember the first, I've never wanted to cosplay a villain so much, and I still probably might one day. It was the girl with the the balls. I forgot the Japanese balls for like playing and um uh pineapples, whatever. Um I had to I had to do it because the black McCoy is looking at me like it's okay.
SPEAKER_00I'm a I'm a very large child. I'm not afraid to admit that.
SPEAKER_01I know me juggling with my hand doesn't help either. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_00You juggling the balls, it's okay.
SPEAKER_01Um but um I thought it was brilliant, um, especially the the contacts. I think Demon Slayer is one anime that's come out where a lot of uh contact companies specifically made contacts for that character, um, i.e. the spider-mom when Spider-Mom came out and Ryu or Ryu, whatever the little psychotic Spider Boy. Um I remember I was like, oh my gosh, I would love to cosplay him or the mom. And unique so where I get a lot of my contacts, they actually had a pre-order ready for those fucking contacts.
SPEAKER_00We know the weeds, we know our audience.
SPEAKER_01Yes, and again, this that's not a uh uh, you know, that's not the protagonist. This is a villain. You know, that's that's putting it out there on how how glorious that cosplay intuition is because of one particular anime. It's very interesting. Um, I think the last time we had this conversation before, but I the last time I've seen uh an anime that had um diverse characters was bleach. Um, for me to cosplay, so to speak. You see a lot of Naruto characters, but for me, the colors is too muted. Um, and the characters look kind of the same. You know, sorry, Bleach fan. I love uh Naruto fans for me personally, I just will never cosplay Naruto because they just kind of look the same. But when it comes to Bleach, all even though everybody was wearing this whole society black and white, every single character, every single captain looked different. Everyone from Kuchiki Mario, who is my dream cosplay. You know, everybody looked so different.
SPEAKER_00And would you like to do it and I make the giant baby thing for you?
SPEAKER_01Yes, yes. Here we go. Yes, thank you. I appreciate you. Um but yes, um, Demon Slayer is just amazing. I I love um the dynamic of uh Kanjiro and how how how how he has so much mercy for the killings that he does, um, the empathy that that he gives. And also he's willing to see the the other side, the opposition side on why they do what they do. Um, you know, Sailor Moon does the same thing, you know, you you end up kind of getting the backstory of the villain, so to speak, and you know, and and they try to feel that empathy before they they do work them. Um so um so I I really enjoy the colors. I enjoy the fusion of 2D and 3D. Um, it's been a while since I've seen an anime do that, and I I hate shell shading, and they do the shell shading beautifully, gorgeous. Um, it looks like watercolors, it gives me um, you know, very old um dynasty Japanese, you know, with the power, the swirls, the water, the clouds. It gives me all of that. And I I just who see who sees that in anime? Um, I think the last time I've seen that was watching Mononoke that gave me that um kubuki, yo, type of feeling. Um and um I just love it. I love how they just hit so many points. Uh, they give you the tradition, they give you uh different mediums to play with visually. Um it really can um it can really gather different uh and uh different audiences from all across the board. Um, you know, and I think that's why it's so profitable worldwide, because it's just so dynamic. Um I think uh Demon Slayer is one of the most profitable, um, the Mugn Train, one of the most profitable um movies international thing, I think since Spirited Away. It could be one of the Miyazaki uh movies. And Spirited Away, uh both the Japanese and the American version actors, they had A-list actors voicing Spirited Away and Princess Mononoke. And that's how you know that's big. Because usually uh A-list actors don't give a shit about anime. So that was huge. Um, so I I really look forward to it. I just hope they just keep this wonderful ball rolling, rolling with the aesthetics, with the storytelling, and um just with the brilliance of it all. So it's definitely it's definitely up there for a classic for sure.
unknownOkay.
SPEAKER_05Speaking of balls rolling, before you say that, the name of the balls are the Tamari balls.
SPEAKER_01Tamari. I know it's not the I I was about to say tenamaki. Oh, that's not like food. So I was but thank you. Thank you very much.
SPEAKER_00Can we talk about that first moment when Tanjiro swung that sword and we saw that water look as beautifully as it did? Gorgeous. Um that touched my that touched my non-existent soul. It did non-existent, it pulled it, it literally pulled it back from the abyss and was like, this is the moment. This is it, this is here.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah. I felt wet by um, you know. Yeah, I know.
SPEAKER_00Also, also pun very much intended.
SPEAKER_01That was intended, actually.
SPEAKER_00It was 100% quite moist, uh, very moist. Oh boy. Um, no, but uh okay.
SPEAKER_05So yes, uh no, I have to do it in my janit voice.
SPEAKER_04Oh my gosh.
SPEAKER_05So to agree, uh kind of using your your your comparisons between Bleach and uh Demon Slayer, I I I also felt like they uh the the characters on Bleach, although they were all wearing, like you said, the Soul Society uh kind of black and white gis, uh, or if they were a captain, they had the coats on, but they had their own individuality with their Zampak to, with you know, whatever their their hair or their heads or their you know, whatever accessories that they added to uh individualize who they were and what they were doing. And I felt like Demon Slayer kind of picked that up and emphasized it when you looked at the Hashuda with their ghiz, which are supposed to be uniform, but of course, it's now inspired by their own individual elements or or or or I don't know what the exact word I want to use because they're obviously not all elements, but attributes. I guess I'll use that. It's the styles we call them. Styles, okay. Yeah, that's true. They're their their style or their aesthetic swordsman forms, and it's it's it it's it's like it takes it up a whole nother notch where you know the the the flame hashira and the insect hashira, each of them is like even without you knowing what's going on, like I'm sure, and I guess we can maybe segue back to Miss Kittos to ask you this question when you know you saw the initial uh Hashira gear giz, um, even before you know they said, Oh, this is the flame Hashira or this the insect Hashira, it it made you start to question, oh, what's going on here? Looking at the the the hilts of their sword, looking at the ends of their cloaks, looking at you know the way that their hair is styled or colored. It it now it now emphasizes and changes things. Now you're looking back at other characters, like, okay, well, what is Tantra all going to be about? And what is uh Zenetsu gonna be about in Enosuke? I mean, granted, Anosuke had a bore on his head, so there's really not where more we can go from there, but you know, it now makes you think and emphasize and change, like, okay, if the Hashita are like this, maybe the demons have things I need to look into. Maybe there's idiosyncrasies that I've missed that are gonna tell me more about this character and this location and this person, so on and so forth. Um, and so that's I wanted to throw that um uh add that to what you said, Miss Sayone cosplay. I don't know if you want to agree or disagree.
SPEAKER_02Okay.
SPEAKER_05But yes, so Miss Skittles, did you did you feel that same way when you were first looking at um the characters uh uh the the the the Hashira and certain characters geez?
SPEAKER_01Yes, actually absolutely. Um I'm I'm all about character design, like one for for cosplay purposes, but two, um to as an artist in general, like um like character design has always like been so something interesting to me. So just to see, um just to see everybody's design. You can, like you said, you can you can automatically tell a few few of the Hashiers like what their breathing styles were or you know um what what other powers they possessed and whatnot. But um I think the character design is also very intricate like like like some of some of their designs like if if you're not paying attention you'll miss something you're and then when you go to cosplay and and that's normally the the time where I where I see things that I wouldn't normally have saw like during the anime when I'm researching the character that I want to um cosplay and I start seeing like things in the design that that actually like completely characterize the you know the character's personality and what they are about anyway. So it's just like oh like ah I didn't even see that there that's that's cute. I like how they did that. But yes um I think as Sione was saying like all of the characters um are are definitely cosplayable um because they they just so unique like every one of them are are unique um given that they're all you know they're on a team like um and this these uniforms are are you know everybody's everybody's uniform is different so it's very very unique to each of their characters. So I love that.
SPEAKER_00I think my favorite part about their uniforms I love colors yeah the the the colors that they use for each of the Hashira is so phenomenal. I think my favorite part about all of the Hashira is that how their costumes aren't just like symbols of their personality but it extends towards like how they introduced them and how they showed them fighting. Like with Gyu when we first saw him in the first episode although we didn't know he was a Hashira of course like his entire and even when he showed up when he killed Rui finally um like the way the the the the calmness of his movement like still water was phenomenal even when like I forget I think he said like 11th form when he did his final like slash not even final he just killed Rui um that was it was it was it was amazing. I was like oh you just walked up and that was it like that was and and as but that was entirely different from Shinobu when she appeared and she lit like her her like her it she literally floated down like a butterfly. It was one of the most beautiful things I had ever seen like it was something that was like very massive but so minute at the same time. Like it was like just it was like one it was like one of those little things that just brought so much character to her fighting style as well as her and the way in which she twirled her her blade and the way the hilt on their swords are designed and as well as how their blades are designed. You know of course Obunai has like this slithering kind of slithering sword and it's phenomenal. And Shinobu has the her her blade looks more like a I I would I would describe it as like a mosquito like nose because it it's it's very like narrow and it has like this kind of um almost like a rapier. Yeah almost like a rapier but it still has like this kind of like butcher knife looking tiny thing at the end yeah specifically for piercing or whatever. So that like it like the the the it's the it's those little details that Miss Skittles was talking about that we pay attention to when we're starting to cosplay something but just generally noticing them it adds so much to the character and like love I love stuff like that. Like the it's not just the the the the fights and the the the the power level that brings the character to life and that personality right it's just how that personality enacts itself in the different ways in which they interact with the rest of the world that's been created there.
SPEAKER_01And it's so cool and it it's uh it's beautiful it's so much I wanted to add that um we have a a panelist who killed the cosplay game yes um you know Miss Skittle's is chewing on something but you know she knows it's um and if you call out the skills are just kind of like looking away like she ain't talking about me yes bitch I'm talking about you is that bitch you know what I'm saying so um you know when you're able to create an anime where you can inspire people um to look into the details to be able to research and you have enough information that they can actually research and engage and insight of the character and the personality and then actually cosplay it by hand and then cosplay it well to have these beautiful pictures that is what Miss Kittle did brought her character to life i mean really made mistake and I didn't even pay attention to the character really I tried to give her my give us enough of the character also wasn't white in my opinion like he he was on the scene he was on the show maybe three maybe four times I agree I didn't even know the character existed really I didn't that just showed up one of those I was like who is this and then she forced me to know like you will see me and If you didn't know him before you know him now if you didn't know you better ask somebody basically and and and I and I'm asking you know but um so for all of our listeners if you did not see Miss Skittles at BlurryCon 2019 yes she did cosplay drop it drop it did cosplay as one of the Hashidah uh the snake Hashida yes made the snake right made in and the cosplay didn't she make the the I made I made everything she made everything made the whole thing it wasn't purchased y'all it wasn't purchased the slippers she made it y'all and what fun fact she had to remake the pants multiple times because she forgot how thick she was looking about like a normal because she thought a normal pants was gonna work for her and she was trying to make pants like Kit Kathree Musketeers.
SPEAKER_00She was messing up y'all I think that's my favorite thing about knowing stuff about this that was my favorite thing about the cosplay is you had to remake the pants multiple times listen it was it was such a a a blessing of a problem she's like I'm trying to make these pants again y'all because I'm fit I'm like meanwhile my bitch I'm trying to put I'm trying to put a five layer cake in these one layer panel oh my god if you if you would like to give us a little bit of your uh your uh explanation of your your your thought process behind the uh thought process and I'm okay with that was that just me maybe I'll look you have to you have to drop a little issue was that I I normally make patterns from pants that I like that fit me well but the material I was using was straight cotton so there was no stretch no give no nothing so me not you know paying attention to my use of material which is very important when you're sewing um yeah so I'm out here with the with the straight cotton with the straight cotton and trying to you know fit this in the straight cotton what what is what is this what is what is what is this you know hits that you know you had a Beyonce moment you was trying to jump and get your dick was gonna slitter up in them bitches but I was like no let me be the snake I'm just saying let me just walk through the phone it was a struggle but back to what San was saying you can only say but so many times where where there there are characters so like like you said Obanai we didn't see we didn't see much of him in the first season um but there was enough information out there for me to go find out you know his full character design what his sword he'll all of that looked like I I got his whole backstory um and because I was reading so much I kind of like um uh what would a what spoil it was like a spoiler for my note but but that information was out there so um so you know kudos to to demon uh yeah demon slayer for for actually writing stories about every character because you know uh you know a lot of anime you see niggas you like oh that's so and so but you know it's so and so is part of some tribe and that that's all you know okay so I have a a cosplay petition for Miss Gittles can you like take your Obanai cosplay what wait wait wait I'm sorry I'm I'm trying to cut off this question what are you doing black McCoy I'm sitting what do you mean I I I I I I happen to see the cap of something that I purchased a day or two ago and it seems like somebody's trying to drink my white rice wine not at all not at all um not only have you opened the Oreos right now you try to drink my soul juice I'm confused I thought it was some Perrier because they made sure to hide a day I have done I have done some evil things in my life but drink don't don't do that don't don't do that because Perrier meeting sometimes not the devil's anal fisher secrecy secret don't do that don't do that absolutely not but if you were talking about root beer I may not be a child of God but damn it I do have morals Miss Kittle don't tell me you like root beer Jesus Lord no she doesn't sushi does though the black McCoy doesn't like root beer either I'm the one who likes beer the only thing I drink is that's not true I saw you be drinking jack man no what I was about to say was um Miss Kittle you should absolutely uh cosplay Orochimaru and do and Photoshop yourself together as Obunai and Orochimaru and throw some snakes up there obunati right of obunai and arochimaru you you could you could do it you're right that would be a dope cross I actually I have I have cosplayed aroundu so yep she has all right so you gonna you want to Photoshop yourself together beetle juice in there too simple simple what a little beetle juice in there oh there's a little beetle like hey right with a sandworm in the hands it's like I'm here too guys uh but to to kind of throw it to the black mcoy uh you didn't I would like you to have the opportunity to also give your uh first thoughts your reactions your responses what did you feel about I mean granted you have been giving it this entire time but just your uh full on Demon Slayer first season Moog and train reaction slash review slash what you thought of it so just as far as like the first season is concerned I was totally encapsulated by the the the character development there uh was I thought was going to be very primary and the action be to I thought the action was going to be much more secondary but I as the show went on it was one of the few shows that I can say has a very uh a very a very valid well not valid a very steady balance between the two like they do not oversatur I don't mind oversaturation with dialogue and character I'm gonna push like if any of you any of our listeners know I'm I'm very I'm very like invested in character driven stories and narratives. But they were able to do that alongside the action that they put in and it was like it made the action that much more intentional especially because they they they hybridized it and like character driven purposes within the action like we were talking about how Tanjuro we get to see Tanjuro be the person that he is and you know and find those moments of compassion even while you know pursuing his dutiful action but doing so in a and transitioning almost immediately from a vicious nature to a much more calming and loving nature in the way in which he executes his actions um and that that that kind of relationship to his overall character um and the the the the meaning behind the actions that he's he's pursuing being able to like change that and at a moment's notice just based on information that we get as you know viewers but as well as he sees as a character in the show is absolutely phenomenal. Like I think that's one of the best things that the show does is that they're able to imbue every single aspect of the show with the characters and how they're involved in themselves as well as with others and their motivations. And it was that it was the more pivotal moment for me where they decided to make that moment where Tanjuro came up against his first like really big super powerful enemy and had to face the fact that he was against the force that he did not have the the ability to you know go up against where he and his sister and the the journey that they were on to you know get her turned back into being human as well as the the the the shared trauma they have of losing their family and their parents specifically that that moment just manifested within both of them and allowed them both to come together from these two different sides of a singular goal and accomplish something so beautiful and so amazing. And I think that that that kind of storytelling is it's it's it's really um complementary to a show like Demon Slayer and it's almost um a singular characteristic of of that particular narrative that they're building or that they have been building. As far as Mookentrain is concerned, Mookentrain was a whole other beast on its own. Like I I I wish I could write like 30 pages of like everything that happened at Mook and Train because it it it tackles so many different important issues. Rengoku being one of the ones that I still have some some very you know negative feelings about partly because we didn't get enough time with him in my personal opinion. But you know hopefully that's something that we get more understanding about later. But yeah no the the the movie itself was it was amazing. It was phenomenal I I wish that it could have been a little bit longer because I wanted more time with some of these characters and some of the the situations that they were in. And I actually think the most interesting part about Moog and Train was that was one of the first moments that we see where Tanjuro does not kill Tanjuro kills one of the I'll say it's one of the first moments that we see for Tanjuro where we don't actively notice that he recognizes something about this demon that he's about to murder like there like though there is no there's no redemption there's no redeeming qualities and I think that's something that he's gonna have to come face to face to face with later on more frequently until he reaches you know um whatever the end goal is for this particular you know story that they're telling. Part of me hopes that based on everything they've been showing us that we're not going to get to a Tanjuro versus kibutsuji moment because I think that'd be kind of cliche overall but uh if they do if we do get to that moment I hope they do it in such a way where it makes sense for the character that we've been following thus far. Unless we get like a time skip or some shit like that, which would also be interesting.
SPEAKER_05I I would prefer not a time skip. I I I like them giving us everything um but if they were to give us a time skip it it has to be like one piece related where or not related one piece alike where one year six months two years later they reference things that happened in the time skip so we know okay what were they doing? Because if you just say oh I'll see you in two years I'm like okay what happened so yeah uh even a movie I wouldn't mind a movie.
SPEAKER_01By the way um it seems like Demon Slayer is gonna release the stories of water and flame on January 4th of 2022 so you'll get more in-depth look of flame since we only saw him for that one flaming moment. How dare you water how dare you oh not a flame and moment um okay wait oh so we're also gonna get uh what's his name water the water hashira what's his name again Gyu so we're gonna get his story too that's gonna be interesting yes wait so wasn't he also he wasn't was he also trained by Tanjiro's trainer I think so yes yeah so he's like two of the only they're the only two that survived the training after the guy went through the hat mountain and the guy killed all his other subject his other students yeah Lord um geez okay well since you I was gonna actually throw it to you Shamflue bracelet's but since you already spoke up I'll let you uh go ahead and start by giving your reaction and then anything else you need to tell us um so my reaction to Demon Slayer when I first watched it was oh shit we we jumping into the shits early all right I like the sudden pop off as soon as I cut the TV on right um I love the pacing of the show especially and I love the artwork it's it's one of the top showmings with me outside of uh attack on Titan of course um moving train was very good um I I did at one point think that it should have been broken up because I felt like it was enough to just make it an art for people who couldn't see it because of the time that it came out. Of course um but apparently we're gonna get that request for those of you who did not see the movie.
SPEAKER_05Whatever do you mean?
SPEAKER_01So Mug and Train will be broken down into seven episodes starting October 10th. What yes we're gonna get the Moog and Train art is going to have more music and a little bit more to the episodes than what we saw in the movie supposedly um Lisa is coming back to do the intro and then the entertainment district art will start on December 5th and you can stream it on Funimation and Crunchyroll. Ooh who's Lisa so Lisa is the artist that sang the original theme song for Demon Slayer. Oh okay yeah so she's coming back they said a third time to do the intro this time. Did then they already released the theme song or at least part of the theme song um so they released an extended trailer for um this season so that was put up on their official Instagram I'm pretty sure it's on YouTube as well for anyone who needs to see it because it gives you that part of the move and train now.
SPEAKER_05Okay we'll share that uh we'll share that on our Instagram as well so people can take a look at it.
SPEAKER_01I will say I'm excited to get into the entertainment district more so than move and train of course because I want to learn more about the pillar that's coming up now. Because it just looks very badass. So I'm very interested in seeing the upcoming art.
unknownOkay.
SPEAKER_05Uh as I must always I did it in the uh the uh pre-version of this episode and I'll do it in the current episode uh have to switch it over to our our uh what did I call him last time our uh CMO chief manga officer uh mangist if you will uh what shame bee uh you already know what's happening uh uh of course you know uh with the differences between the manga and the anime they you know add scenes change a couple things of course add music um but uh from your standpoint what what what should we be expecting and without telling us while telling us without actually spoiling you asked him a trick question yes he said it's very like uh okay okay can you can you can you give us a an idea of no can you give us a feel of what we should expect logically
SPEAKER_01Absolutely.
SPEAKER_02Absolutely.
SPEAKER_03There you go. That's why I can give you if you all disposed shit. There it goes.
SPEAKER_01I wouldn't I wouldn't have expected any other way. It better not be. It better be. Especially after your brain.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, like like yeah, like like it's it's yeah. It's it's uh I will say there's a harem. There's also a harem at one point. Okay, which is cool. Yeah, there's a harem at one point. I'll let y'all guess who has that.
SPEAKER_00I was about to say who I mean Michael Jackson, because that sounds like the only real harem that could occur on the show. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Nah, I look at the biggest.
SPEAKER_01Let me find out Zenitsu a house. Is that the big titty chick? The big titty chick with the with the green and pink hair. That's a love hot. He's not gonna tell you.
SPEAKER_03Actually, I will say this but there's an interesting love love thing going on with her. But and um, but yeah, but now you'll y'all find out. Y'all find out. Y'all actually will find out this season, too. Y'all find out who has a hair of this season.
SPEAKER_05There it is.
SPEAKER_00Actually, you know what? Some so that something that he brought up that was really interesting was the with the love hashta specifically. The thing I think the thing that happened in Mugan Train, remember when Rengoku kind of exploded when um Tanjiro was asking about like the fire breathing thing, yeah. And he was like, uh, that doesn't really sound like a thing that the flame like in the flame breathing, like that's not really in that study. Yeah, he kind of broke down the offshoots of like the different techniques. I'm interested, I'm very interested in how the love hashida is like an extension of the flame hashida. Um, and I think like you know, if you think about like flame passion, you know, burning and all that stuff.
SPEAKER_02I know what was extended.
SPEAKER_01Say what I thought was extended, but but this is a sick podcast, and you only look Ren better stop playing around. I mean, he has but because you know, because you know that's that's my babe.
SPEAKER_03That's I mean that's that's yeah the the snake hashada, that's his boo, so you know there's a lot like they got a lot there I don't know what season it's probably they probably gonna do a third season by the time they explain all these offshoots and how that shit works. They'll explain how the the fire, they'll explain how the fire drink comes into play this next season as well.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I feel like that's like the most prominent question we have right now because of Tanjiro and his fire breathing situation.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, like Tan, like the eat there's the easiest way to say it is Tanjiro's fire breathing comes from a very ancient art.
SPEAKER_02Everybody else kind of falls away on that.
SPEAKER_01We kind of saw it in the in the first season when they yeah, because his dad was doing the dance thing, yeah.
SPEAKER_03Like, yeah, that that the way that's explained, too. Like that that's actually a pretty deep story, too. How his father got involved and stuff. Like, there's a lot, there's a lot of uh stuff that hasn't been explained. They've hidden a lot of stories that they'll probably start to go into around the entertainment art, but won't necessarily really get into the meat and potatoes of it.
SPEAKER_00Meat and potatoes, but you know, it makes me think about like where do other kinds of techniques come from, like where does Zenitsu's like you know, lightning technique comes from? Um, um, even you know, Inosuke's beast technique. Like, he says he made it up on his own, but it like with that with the core elements being like the basis for all of the techniques, like which one does his like that's all and all that involves Tanjiro's daddy.
SPEAKER_03All of that involves Tanjiro's daddy. I'm excited. So I'll see how that works. I haven't spoiled nothing really because that goes that goes way deeper than what I'm I can do in a couple minutes.
SPEAKER_05Oh no, no, I appreciate it.
SPEAKER_03This is this is literally what I asked for. Yeah, that goes that goes way deeper than what I can do in a couple minutes. That shit is science at some point. There are trees involved, there is a chart. Trees bugging there. Yeah, they're like like like family trees, they are trees. Oh, those types of trees. That's good. I was like trees. But yeah, no, it's actually um, yeah, the way that the way that whole thing works out, there's actually like the special meaning behind not only Tadjiro's earrings, but his the scar on his head, like that, that goes deeper. Um the fire breathing goes deeper, his sister, that whole wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. Was that not a birthmark? Huh? Has he always had that on his head? So yes, that that is a it is, but it's also a a family bloodline trait.
SPEAKER_00Oh, okay. Because I was like, because now because when you mentioned, I was like, wait, did something happen to him or was he born with it?
SPEAKER_03No, that no, that that that they the reason why it goes deeper is because that that's that's passed down. So um that's passed down pretty far actually.
SPEAKER_01So uh yeah that's a treat he's talking about.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, that was a treat. Yeah, a treaty got his family so hard it saved the bloodline. That's pretty much how it works. So, like, but uh yeah, the way is though his sister is deeply tied to the story as well. Like it's kind of like between Todd, that whole Tanjiro's family goes way deeper into this than you would think. For you know, just being like they use the fact that he's the main character, they use that shit heavy. Um, there's also some other characters that uh that have really interesting backstories. For one, um, in the entertainment uh district, you'll learn more about the sound. Was it is it the sound? Is it sound? The sound pillar, the one with uh uh bling ninja.
SPEAKER_01Bling ninja?
SPEAKER_03Oh the thing is okay. He's like the sound hashira or something like that, but his his story is deep as hell. Um the blind, uh the blind Hashira whose name whose pillar I can't remember, his story is deep as hell.
SPEAKER_00Oh, the stone hashira?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, stone hashira is deep as hell. The wind hashira though, you're gonna like his. And you've already seen part of his story without actually knowing that you've seen part of his story.
SPEAKER_00I mean, I'm trying to get into the missed Hashira and see what's going on there.
SPEAKER_03Like his story, his that now, his his background is really is actually really tragic, to be honest.
SPEAKER_00I mean, to be that to be to be that lethargic about life, I mean, I'm pretty sure it has to be.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, it would have to be.
SPEAKER_03Oh, no, I'm thinking of, yeah, his yeah, his story is really, I'm thinking of uh, you're talking about not the one that um that was the I'm thinking of the snake Hashira. The Miss Hashira story is really tragic, but there's a lot involved in his. There's some schizophrenia there too. But then uh the snake has his story, his background is really tragic as well. In fact, most of these stories are like stupid dumb tragic.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, would it really be a shonen if it if they weren't? Also true. Yeah, you can still have a shonen. Actually, wouldn't it be an anime if they weren't?
SPEAKER_03That I'll get that's all this would just be a slice of life.
SPEAKER_00Uh yeah, so yeah, there's only a few shows that came close, Stephen Universe being one of them, and that heavily drew on anime for a lot of the things. That was very tragic, yeah.
SPEAKER_03But yeah, it but it's a lot of there's a lot of good background stories to come. They haven't, they have touched icebergs of stories, but they have not dove completely deep into stories like Zenetsu is another good story that um I think a lot of people will look forward to. And he probably has the most character development the whole entire show. That's what's important now.
SPEAKER_05Before we keep asking uh uh uh Shammy B more questions, and he accidentally spills something that we just specifically you're doing well, but the more questions we ask, the more we get down the rabbit hole.
SPEAKER_01I'm about to say, sushi, you know, I have to deal with this on a daily basis.
SPEAKER_05I know, and and I would prefer our listeners and not have to deal with it as well.
SPEAKER_01I I I have to ask questions sometimes, especially when it comes to attack on Titan, because I gotta brace myself.
SPEAKER_04No, no, that's it.
SPEAKER_01Like ignorance.
SPEAKER_03No, every five minutes. So who is this? So what happens next?
SPEAKER_01What happens after this? I gotta crack myself, all right. And in Gundam, Iron Blooded Orphan was the one that did it that made me so sad at the end that I I I can't do it anymore.
SPEAKER_05I I just can't walk in blind. I must know.
SPEAKER_01Exactly.
SPEAKER_03But no, I understand there's a lot of there's I I think the second the second half of the second season and particularly the third season are going to be very, very popular for one, and two, it's gonna be very rewarding for people who have already been invested. As long as they follow in the footsteps of the manga, which for the most part they have done very well in doing, even down, even with the movie and train movie, it was like watching the manga animated all over. Yeah, um, so it like I said, they've done incredibly well. They've done like Attack on Titan well, following the manga and following how the story is is set up. Um I do look forward to it. But I like to hear. Yeah, and I do look forward to when they actually show the water and fire pillars backstory. So I want to see if they expound on that more than what the manga did, or if they just show like or they do a buddy cop thing. I hope not a buddy cop they don't, but I think it would be entertaining if they did.
SPEAKER_05Right. No, no, I and something that you both you as well as Kaze have, you know, always uh it it it it's something I always look forward to is when certain anime does come out, and of course, you I look towards both of you in terms of uh kind of manga references, and it's kind of like, okay, well, I I I see how the story is going. How far off the rails are we?
SPEAKER_03Or y'all, y'all are not far off the rails at all.
SPEAKER_05Right, right. And if we're on the rails, what do they add and what are you surprised about? And and that's what I want to see when we get to, like you just said, uh um talking about the uh the uh the wind uh sorry wind, water and fire. I want to see what you say, and we'll revisit this on another episode, uh, obviously in uh January 2022, where I think we should all, you know, kind of find out what in comparison between the manga and the anime, what have they added, what surprised you um about the differences and what they've added in the artwork and everything else like that. I think I I think our listeners will look forward to something like that.
SPEAKER_01You know what? Speaking of that, that's we should we should definitely do that because the other day I found out that Tokyo Tokyo Revengers, yes, the manga, the the characters don't look nothing like the anime.
SPEAKER_05Oh no, or do they make it more attractive?
SPEAKER_01They find as fucking anime. Like I got I somebody sent me a screenshot and I said, Who is that?
SPEAKER_00You said that's not bae.
SPEAKER_03The fuck that's not bae. They gave them they gave them a clabber up real for real. They glowed up. I gotta see their two.
SPEAKER_00That's just your baby daddy, right? Right, Tokyo Avengers gonna have people like, oh babe, wait, that's not what no wait.
SPEAKER_01I wasn't that's not what I saw, like fishing out this joint, like what y'all cosplaying Tokyo Avengers. I'm like, damn, maybe I need to watch this anime because they fine as fuck. So I'm like, Yeah, not this, not that.
SPEAKER_05But um, on top of all of the things we've seen, uh, well, of course, you know, uh Shammy B is the one that uh read the manga, but on top of the anime and the uh Moog and Train, the movie, also, as I said, uh at the top of the uh podcast is or the episode uh is the uh game coming out, Kaminsino Yaiba, Demon Slayer Hinokami Chronicles, uh, which debuts uh by Sega on October 15th. Uh, feel free to pre-order it now. Uh, it's coming out on PS5, 4, Xbox Series XS, and one, and of course, on Steam. Uh, of course, in the game, it follows everything from season one as well as Mugen Train, so you can relive the storyline. Uh, allegedly, they're going to be adultery if you haven't seen anything. Oh, yeah. Uh yeah, yeah. I mean, it's from it's from the same makers who made like the Naruto games. So if you if you're familiar with the Naruto fight system with those games, uh, from um uh uh why can't I draw in a blank? What's the name of the game? Ultimate ninja storm. Thank you. From the ultimate ninja storm series. If you're familiar with that style and you like that style, I would jump in. Um, I've watched several demos. I I'm really excited for this game. I will be playing come next. Is it next week? Next week? Um yes, next week. Yeah, yeah. But next, not this way, this not this Friday, but next Friday.
SPEAKER_00Next Friday. Next Friday.
SPEAKER_05So I will be playing um uh eventually, I guess, online, maybe perhaps, but it will go through everything in the will you maybe perhaps. That's what I said through the first season as well as through uh Moog and Train. Uh it has a couple of DLCs. I'm excited to see uh because allegedly they're deciding between um doing a bunch of DLCs as the show goes on, andor doing what Ultimate Ninja Storm did, which is just release, you know, Hindokami Chronicles 2 or you know the second parts of the game. Um, I don't know which one I I don't know. Uh I I feel like because I'm familiar with the Naruto system and I purchased each game as it came out and I wasn't mad at it, um, because the storyline was just progressing at that speed. Um, I I would at least like them to get to the end of season two and before water and flame and add a DLC to anybody who gets added. Like uh if the sound has shooter is in, I don't think he's in it actually, not at the gate get-go. Um, I know they have the flame, insects, water, inosuke, zenetsu, nezuko, and tanjo. I know at the very least they have them and then a couple of other people from the anime so far. Uh, but I would like if they're gonna do it, add a DLC of those characters at the end of the year, moving into next year. And then if they're gonna release another game, that's when they add in, you know, the flame story, uh, the flame arc and the water arc as uh as a part of the next game that maybe comes out next year or the year after. I don't know. It depends on when they decide to do the break uh between how long the break is gonna be between season two and season three. But otherwise, uh, I don't know. Uh, anybody uh who anybody want to play this? I know, I know uh the Black McCoy had said they were they would play it.
SPEAKER_00Oh, yeah, absolutely. It's on my list of things to kick people's ass in.
SPEAKER_05Fair enough. Uh how did you want, how would you prefer it to be done? Uh and uh Shami B, did you plan on playing it as well? Um playing it, not buying it.
SPEAKER_03So here's the thing I if somebody has it, yeah, I'll play it. I'm not gonna say now that because I did play Ninja Storm, but nowadays it's like after Dragon Ball Fighter Z, like games that look like Ninja Storm kind of fucked me up.
SPEAKER_05Uh see, I told you Dragon Ball fucked up everything for everybody.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it just seemed like another J Fighter to me. Like another, like not even clear fighter.
SPEAKER_03Actually, I'll say it wasn't Dragon Ball Fighter Z, but it was a combination of Dragon Ball Fighter Z and uh what's the other one that was trash? Um uh showing jump.
SPEAKER_05Oh, you're talking about um um jump force?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, jump force, yeah. They got those two. Let it go after the after the contrast of the two. Oh, you like jump force?
SPEAKER_00I like jump force conceptually. I think some of the gameplay could have been improved.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I I agree with you there. I love the conceptual idea of it all.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, no, no, no, like I remember they tried it like prior to jump force, they had like another game that was similar to it. I can't remember the J Stars. J Stars, yeah, yeah. But there were still some elements that were missing as far as gameplay that made it a bit more clunky, in my personal opinion. But it looked phenomenal, the stages were phenomenal. Otherwise, uh, I mean, outside of just this the gameplay strictly, it was phenomenal. Now, one piece burn one piece burning blood absolutely tore my soul apart.
SPEAKER_05Like, uh, no, that was I thought we already agreed that we weren't gonna bring it up again.
SPEAKER_00I I I I did in a moment of hurt, and I apologize.
SPEAKER_03Brought it back, like talking about jump force brought it back, like just brought it all back up. It did, it brought it all back up, and um I would I would love for the people who did um tenkaiichi to do jump force.
SPEAKER_00I've been saying that for years. Buddokai three, tenkaichi not so much. I preferred the original Buddokai's prior to Ten Kaiichi. I did, yeah.
SPEAKER_03I I I it's it's here and there for me. It depends on which ones.
SPEAKER_00Buddokai three was Buddha Kai 3 was peak like Dragon Ball game for me.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. But um, but no, yeah. I I um sadly, I because of how I feel about those games nowadays, uh it's kind of hard for me to go into it to buy it. I would play it, but I don't know if I'll ever buy it.
SPEAKER_05Okay, I will bring it for Friendsgiving.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah, I'll play it though.
SPEAKER_05All right, so does anybody have any expectation? I mean, granted, you know, uh Shammy Beach kind of gave us our expectations, but is there anything specific that we want to give you what you bought it? Oh okay. Does anybody have any specific um expectations uh for uh season two? I I'd say one word, one phrase, one sentence. Either or, not all of them. Uh we'll start with uh the black my boy.
SPEAKER_00I knew you were gonna do that because you said one word. I'm like, fuck, I gotta figure out what the word is.
SPEAKER_05Knee jerk reaction.
SPEAKER_00I know. Um the one word would have to be um development. I'm always interested in more development, regardless of whether it's plot, character, world building. I I I I I always want more um within reason, of course. I don't want to go down a rabbit hole.
SPEAKER_05Shampoo bracelet.
SPEAKER_01Um fight styles. Oh fighting styles. Yeah, okay, okay. I'm curious to see more of that and to see this this all-star lineup of demons that are like you know, number real close real close to the head honcho. Yeah, that's what I'm interested in.
SPEAKER_00Michael Jackson.
SPEAKER_01Yo, just learn his name.
SPEAKER_00I know Kibu Tzuji's name, bitch. Don't come for me. I know Kibu Tzuji's name. Really not. I think you didn't want to say it. I like saying Michael Jackson, that's the problem.
SPEAKER_01You took it. At some point, sorry.
SPEAKER_03At some point, Michael Jackson moonwalks all over the ass, too. That's gonna be fun to watch.
SPEAKER_00I mean, we all knew it was coming. Like the smooth motherfucking criminal they are. Oh my god, you need to do all of them, aren't you?
SPEAKER_05Oh my god, all right. Uh uh Sayone, because because they're bad.
SPEAKER_01It was gonna be Michael Jackson. That I wanted to see more of that, but shit. So I'm I'll just say villains. I want to see more villains, I want to see more um of the the tier, you know. I want to see what number three is because you know, number three's be hitting, you know, number three is that bronze number three, you think that's number one, you know. I'm saying I want to see number three, to be honest.
SPEAKER_00Okay, Ukioro was what, number four?
SPEAKER_01Right, right. Like Udki, yeah. I thought that should have been number one.
SPEAKER_05I felt that someone that was like that part, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Number three, we usually fucking shit up the most. So I I'm I'm very interested in number three.
SPEAKER_05Okay. Uh Professor Skittles.
SPEAKER_01Um, so I was I was gonna say um the fight style, that was that was that was literally my I'm sorry, no, no, it's okay. I was gonna say we all we right here, we right here. But yeah, I'm definitely looking forward to um all everybody's uh concentrated breathing techniques. Like I'm I'm here for all the forms, final forms, second forms, one, two, five, six, seven. I'm here for all of you. I'm ready. Breathing techniques or uh lack thereof, you know. Someone said higher live tests.
SPEAKER_05Um I personally swap breathing first form.
SPEAKER_02I'm personally I'm not doing this.
SPEAKER_05Um, so I'm personally looking forward to uh uh a breakdown, a more detailed breakdown of weapons or swords, I guess. Uh, because they they they talked about how you know when when a uh uh a slayer uh grabs their sword and it changes color, it turns, you know, it reflects the the user. I would like to see a breakdown. Where do the swords come from? You know, like I was in love with the Zanpak toe.
SPEAKER_03There's the deepest thing to that too.
SPEAKER_02Oh, I love it. Thank you. That's all I needed to hear. There's a deepest thing to that too. Big slave, that shit as well, buddy.
SPEAKER_05Now I'm excited because that's what I needed to know. Because it's like in bleach, you know, it's based off of something completely different. And you know, but with this, you know, they don't they lightly touch it and they you know it looks like they're coming. Like that's why I was so excited. Actually, I said it last time.
SPEAKER_03This part, I'm gonna give y'all a clue. Everybody's been doing it wrong. Yes, everybody's been doing it wrong. I'm gonna give you that clue right now. That's the one that I can't say. Everybody's been doing it wrong. Yo, Miss Skittles, you'll see them do it right.
SPEAKER_05Miss Skittles is a gas.
SPEAKER_01So I think they're doing it wrong this whole fucking time and this and they and they do whatever they doing right now, bruh. Right. I'm not sure what they're gonna do when they do it right. So let me guess. The person who figures out that they're doing it. I guess the person to figure out they're doing it right first will probably be Tanjiro. I'm guessing. Is that how it's gonna be?
SPEAKER_02Don't tell us, don't tell us. Don't tell us. Don't answer the question.
SPEAKER_03I know the answer. I gotta answer it. Somebody does figure out how to do it right. And you the but the person who does it right doesn't know that he did it right.
SPEAKER_01So somebody else the lightning Pikachu nigga. That's the way that's not the first. I've got the first nigga.
SPEAKER_04I know how to play this game.
SPEAKER_05I don't have to play this game. These have to go do it. Don't sound like Domo questions.
SPEAKER_01No, yeah, yeah. And the crazy thing is, he be having me like I'm like, yo, I'm gonna go read this shit. How dare you just jump in in front of me like this?
SPEAKER_00But then when I go read shit, like you're about to go read some shit.
SPEAKER_03I forgot, but she actually I actually got her to read a manga over uh me not answering questions again to read shit.
SPEAKER_00Wow, no wonder y'all married.
SPEAKER_01Like, but like for social like AHS, like I read what happened in the last episode of part one, and then I didn't kind of want to watch it because I'm like, well, I already know what's gonna happen now. So um, I think if I read, it's gonna take the enjoyment away from me from the anime. You would be surprised.
SPEAKER_00So, like, yeah, I would say that use that usually very much depends. Because like when even though I read through all of Naruto before the actual show was over, I still went back and watched some of those like Pivotal. Yeah, because I'm fighting legitimate. Yeah, because like when Moderator, like when Modera came back and was running through that battlefield, baby they did that so well worth it.
SPEAKER_01I think Modera is the only thing I actually I actually like about uh Naruto, and y'all know my disdain for Naruto, but Modera, that that nigga is same, same and I I when I finally do decide to get back into it. No, into into uh Shapudin.
SPEAKER_00I when I finally finished the manga the anime, huh? You haven't finished the show?
SPEAKER_01Hell no, I told you when we I once I got to the pain arc and and they was like, Oh, we gotta watch Naruto get strong. I was like, nah, I'm not sure. Oh my god. It's like I'm ready to see them fight with with uh look, pain came on the scene and I was like, yes, and then they was like, All right, new arc, Naruto gotta get strong. I was like, big. It wasn't even that long. Look, was he? I don't know.
SPEAKER_03I'm gonna be honest with you, you'd be better to just go through and watch all the hype the hype fight scenes, like the pain now to fight when Itachi eventually fights uh Kabuto, I think it was.
SPEAKER_00Oh, yeah, Itachi got uh Sasuke versus Kabuto.
SPEAKER_03Sasuke versus Kabuto, Sasuke versus B. These are literally the fights that are that are worth a damn fucking um oh yeah.
SPEAKER_00Guy versus Modera, yeah, guy versus Modera.
SPEAKER_01You gotta go through and go find them and just watch those.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_01I cannot deal with the the anime itself. I can't do it.
SPEAKER_05Moderator versus Moder versus the world. Stop it.
SPEAKER_01I can't wait for it. I um you know what? I'm gonna just go watch that now.
SPEAKER_05Don't watch it now. Just I I watched it just the other day. It was on it was on Instagram. I was like, Oh, child, it just gives you the feels every single time.
SPEAKER_03Those fights are so good.
SPEAKER_00It's so interesting being a weed professor, and then some of my students are like, Oh my god, have you seen Naruto?
SPEAKER_05First of all, bitch, don't before you were born while you're still on your mother's nipple, right?
SPEAKER_00But first of all, I was watching Naruto before you were even born.
SPEAKER_01Let's not do this, like they were just acting out of earnest, they just wanted to connect with you, and they just have to read them like that for you.
SPEAKER_00I remember one time one of my students was like, So, oh, you watch I was like, Yeah, like do you have any recommendations? Um, I was like, What's your they were like, What's your favorite anime? I was just like I was like, if I was like, How old are you? Yeah, I've been watching anime way too long to just pick a favorite anime. I've I've gone.
SPEAKER_03I was watching anime before that shit was accepted.
SPEAKER_00I've seen too many things.
SPEAKER_01It's so interesting now having you know conversations with people. It's like in general about anime when you you have to have a specific group to be in to talk about anime, and now it's just kind of like people asking you if you watch The Simpsons. You watch you watch like anime? I'm like, what the fuck? This is so weird. Like, my nieces watch anime, like they're anime heavy, like okay, and then mind you, my brother and I are 17 years apart, so my brother thinks that shit is like cartoons, and I'm like, have you sat down and watched one? Have you have you watched any part of it? So you just be like, I we're kids and we're watching cartoons. Have you watched it? But then my nieces and I will have a full-blown conversation. We've talked about Jiu Jitsu Kaisers for at least 30 minutes, yeah.
SPEAKER_05Right, and he just sitting there, dumb.
SPEAKER_01I know your brother out there feeling left out, like shit. I want to be a part of it too. No, no, no, my brother. He was talking to Mark actually at the time, and Mark was over there looking at us like I want to come over there with cool.
SPEAKER_03Mark's like save, save me, please. He's like, You like you watch that shit too? I was like, Yeah, actually, I do. Yeah, yeah. I like that shit.
SPEAKER_05All right, off the rails, off the rails, off the rails, back on the train. All right, back on the train. Come on, Moogan. All right, so uh we have a lot of expectations. Uh uh, I think I already said mine. So I think that was pretty a good synopsis. We actually should have uh another um, well, I'll talk about the episode later. Uh, thought process on, you know, uh the actually I would love to have a professor Hank McCoy uh uh synopsis on the periods of anime and how to properly introduce an individual into the vastness that is anime.
SPEAKER_00Wow, I love how you just put that out there so you have to do it.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I mean, yeah, how to properly introduce anime to people or like where do you you know that's the people always ask? I love that. Uh people always ask that. And number one, I always ask, what genre do you watch in general? Because I would never I ask that same question. You have to because you can't just give them what you like because I can right like what do you what do you watch? Do you watch romance? Do you watch rom-coms? Because I'm the wrong bitch for you.
SPEAKER_05Let me stop you here.
SPEAKER_03Let me point you in the direction of one of my point you do a four, my dad, and good luck.
SPEAKER_05Okay, real quick, before we end this episode, uh, because I really do want to do that episode. I don't know when we want to do it, but we have to do that. I just have to uh real quick grinding of the gears. Um, and uh the black one core knows what I'm talking about because it happened yesterday. Um uh uh for those who are of our age group, which is everybody on this podcast, uh, do you recall the uh the show or the cartoon or that live action drama uh uh VR Troopers?
SPEAKER_00Yes. Oh yeah.
SPEAKER_05Okay, so so you VR Troopers was of course based off of it was the Americanized version of an anime, right? And just like Power Rangers, the Americanized version of an uh uh not an anime, sorry, a uh a Japanese show. Um, and I was we were watching uh, I don't know if we were on Netflix or one of the platforms, and they had the audacity to have a show called Samurai Troopers. I'm like, what is samurai troopers? I was very confused. I was like, was this something new? Shampoo Blaces, please go to your loins.
SPEAKER_00You might be upset as well.
SPEAKER_01Let me tell you why I'd be more upset than that monstrosity that they wanted to call reboot.
SPEAKER_05Less of chambi bee than Domo, but let me tell you why these motherfuckers renamed Ronan Warriors Samurai Troopers.
SPEAKER_03Oh I think I know what you're talking about already.
SPEAKER_05Like on Amazon Prime, and there it was not Ronin Warriors, no samurai troopers, the the absolute gull, the unmitigated gull, the and they only have the dub version. Oh my god, right, not even a choice, you don't have a choice, right? Because like I was like, I I I mean, I'm not gonna say I know every anime, I would never say that. I'm like samurai troopers, and it looks kind of like older, like maybe 90s, in terms of the artworks. It's like, oh, what is it? And I'm looking, I'm like, wait, this looks familiar. I know this. I'm like, this like I didn't watch it when it first came out. Obviously, I watched it on Tsunami, but it's like you won't just take Ronan Warriors and call it samurai troopers, troopers, my nigga.
SPEAKER_01Troopers, that's a new one.
SPEAKER_00So they actually took Ronan Warriors for real and renamed it as no the the the the the petty part was they had Ronan Warriors in parentheses next to Samurai Troopers.
SPEAKER_02No, I'm telling you, I don't know.
SPEAKER_03I don't know exactly why they did that, but yeah, I know what you're talking about because it was it was weird. And when I went through looking for like older animes, I actually came across this a couple months back. I started watching Ronan Wards again earlier this year, and um I was sitting there, I was like, What the fuck is this? This look familiar, and I kept looking at the screen, I was like, I'm not I know this. I've never heard of that. I watched the first episode of it, I was like, oh my god, these sons of bitches freaking like this. So yeah, so I don't know what it is. Like, and I I don't know if that's it's weird because Amazon actually does that quite a bit. Yeah, you know, you go through a lot of their old animals, it's like they got some weird ass names to it, like bro, that wasn't what it was when I was a kid, type stuff. Like, so it's uh is it copyright issues, maybe? So it's not copyright for the sheer fact that they still give credit. It's not like they're literally get all they did was change the title. It's the same day. Like released in the 90s and everything.
SPEAKER_05Nothing changed outside of they more Americanized than they, but I'm sure they cut out a couple parts because of you know uh samurai troopers. That's what it's supposed to translate to.
SPEAKER_01You can so you can use samurai, but people can't use Ronin, like people don't know what they can't.
SPEAKER_03I had to go look that up. There's a reason why. Ronin Warriors is actually the name that we get. Samurai Troopers is the real name of shit when it's translated.
SPEAKER_01The whole name is legendary armor samurai troopers. Yeah, the actual known in Japan. Oh, for real.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, the actual name they have it as I feel like this is not supposed to overturn those like kinds of boulders of truth.
SPEAKER_05Like I need to not everything I just said is a lie. That was crazy.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, your whole gears have just been checked out. Did they they have it under Yodudin Samurai Chalupa? So um it's uh that's the actual name of the whole thing, which translates to legendary armor samurai chalupa. Yes, Amazon didn't.
SPEAKER_00Where do we get Ronin Warriors from? Because even Miss Kills is like, bitch, what you mean? What?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, like we're gonna understand the whole time it's oh, it's up.
SPEAKER_03I can say it wrong. So that's and I'm starting to wonder if that's the real reason. I'm starting to wonder if that's a real reason why Amazon's been chasing a lot of these fucking names, because they're like, we're gonna give the real names the real.
SPEAKER_05Yo, for you dumbasses who don't know what's called samurai troopers, in parentheses, Ronan Warriors. Yeah, the fuck you want to call it.
SPEAKER_01Um, Amazon did it right, and we're the ones that were wrong, we didn't matter.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, we're Amazon did it right and country that were having sold. God damn it.
SPEAKER_01But listen, Ronin Warriors, it was a better title, anyways. It was probably not changed because they needed it to roll off. Yeah, they needed to roll off. Americans, that's what it was. That's why it's real reasonable. Americans, if they can say Arnold Schwarzenegger, they can say fucking Run and Warriors, so they'll be just fine. They let it roll off their tongue, just like how we've been rolling off our pocket.
SPEAKER_00Let's be honest, they just really need a reason to say the hard ER. That's all.
SPEAKER_05I'm done. Okay, so thank you all for being a part of this episode where I found out that I was a dumbass. So, anywho, uh, let's go ahead and close it out.
SPEAKER_03Welcome.
SPEAKER_05Thank you. Let's close it out. Uh, for uh, of course, our Demon Slayer episode. We are very high, very highly excited about everything that's come up next. So, like I said, the game is coming out October 15th. Um, when is the next season come out? I think you said October 10th.
SPEAKER_01October 10th. Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_05Is the Moogan train arc and then the uh next next Sunday, people, October 10th, next Sunday. So it comes out Sundays at midnight, right? Or Saturdays at midnight?
SPEAKER_00Uh maybe Saturdays.
SPEAKER_05Um, I don't know. Sundays at midnight.
SPEAKER_01Probably Saturday at midnight.
SPEAKER_05Saturday to Sunday at midnight is when it comes out.
SPEAKER_01And then you said um December 5th is when the entertainment district arc will start. Perfect. And then on January, what did I say? Fourth?
SPEAKER_05I think.
SPEAKER_01Hold on. Jan, yeah, January 4th, it'll start the water and flame stories.
SPEAKER_05Awesome sauce. So uh so go check it out. If you don't like Demon Slayer, or let me rephrase that. If you've never seen Demon Slayer, go watch it.
SPEAKER_02If you don't like it, rephrase that.
SPEAKER_00Or if you haven't seen it but want a good game to play while you simultaneously get the story, go and get the Hino Comic Chronicles video game that's coming out.
SPEAKER_05So you could both point. Yep, yep, yep. They should see right on through it and also. You play through the game, you shouldn't need to go all the way through the anime if you ain't got enough time. Then you can catch up by watching Mug and Train as it airs on October 10th, and then you'll be good to go. Yeah, let's do that. All right, so let's close out our episode. Uh allowing our panelists to uh tell people how they can be found, uh, starting with uh us as a whole, Blurred Spectrum Podcast, uh the Blurred Spectrum on Facebook and Instagram, Blurred Spectrum on Twitter, or you can send a message to our mailbag theblurt spectrum at umbralstarcade.com or to find Suchino Shogun, Umbral Starcade on most platforms. SPEAKER_04Wait, wait, wait, wait. Wait, last time I played like wait, wait.
SPEAKER_00Oh, you want healing? Why don't you get down and beg for me?
SPEAKER_01Can't we get down right now?
SPEAKER_02Meg needs activate, right? Oh my god.
SPEAKER_05Um, no, because last time I played like uh the black McCoy. The the people in the chat were like, oh my god, uh, we didn't have a healer. No, we had a healer, it was just an attacking mora. I was like, what I think you're welcome. I I won the match.
SPEAKER_00Oh, are you mad because I got all five gold stars for the match and you got none?
SPEAKER_04Oh boy.
SPEAKER_00Sounds like I thought I got the highest kills, the highest amount of healer, healer, um, highest amount of what hero damage, highest healing, highest um amount of time on the objective. What else? There's one more healing, you know. The thing is no healing, healing, there's hero damage, there's kills. Oh, and objective kills. It's not my fault. My my ass as a healer surpassed all of you throughout the match. It's it's okay.
